Fifteen years ago, the Carr family went through a traumatic experience, absolutely destroying the daughter, Grace. She had to deal with the aftermath of things on her own; making her stronger and more brave than ever.
Fifteen years later, Grace thought life was going good - steady job, comfortable house, and her very own library full of her favourite books. That is...until she gets herself kidnapped and comes face to face with a masked man who's ready to get his revenge.
Will Grace survive the nightmare taunting her, or will she die because of her families long lost secrets?
Nightmares in Darkburgh: A Dark Halloween Short by Brett Tourscher keeps you reading until the end. However, if details of brutality and murder trigger you, then I suggest skipping this book entirely.
This particular storyline was HOLY MOLY WOW!! As the reader, I understood where the pain, hurt, and anger were coming from. Although this is a made-up story, I can see this happening as a true story somewhere, which is horrible. With how things take place in our world, this isn’t far-fetched.
If you have read all of Brett Tourscher’s books, you will realize she is a master writer of serial killers. Her books are short, yet they keep you reading and wanting to know the ending.
If this is your favorite type of read, you will want to read every book by author Brett Tourscher.
Well, that was 21 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. 💀🤣
I wanted a quick, spooky Halloween read to give myself a little break from my fantasy series.
What I got was a whole lot of WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK!
Now, I’m no stranger to dark books. I’ve read some seriously questionable stuff and usually have a pretty strong stomach. But apparently I’ve discovered my limit, and it involves teeth, pliers and an overwhelming desire to unread an entire scene. 🤢
I appreciate that horror is supposed to make you uncomfortable, but there’s a difference between being disturbed by a story and actually enjoying reading it. Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t for me.
Was it horrifying? Absolutely. Was it memorable? Unfortunately. Would I recommend it? Only to someone who knows exactly what they’re getting into.
