The Maverick’s Homecoming is a warm and enjoyable second-chance romance with plenty of heart. Finn and Kenzie have an interesting history, and seeing them reconnect after years apart gives their relationship an emotional depth.
I especially liked the complications surrounding Kenzie’s new life and her determination to put her baby first. Finn’s return home and his new role with the high school football team add another layer to the story while bringing the two of them back into each other’s lives.
A sweet, emotional romance about second chances, new beginnings, and discovering that some feelings are harder to leave behind than expected.

Terrific small-town/second chance romance. Finn and Kenzie were high school sweethearts who went their separate ways after a heartbreaking loss. Their separation was helped along by Finn's father's dislike of Kenzie and his plans for Finn's future. Finn went on to play college and professional football while Kenzie became a nurse.
Fifteen years later, both have returned to their hometown of Tenacity. A torn ACL ended Finn's football career and moved him to a new career in real estate. He's settled in Tenacity, doing well in his real estate business, and is recruited to coach his high school's football team. Kenzie married and lived in Denver until divorcing her cheating husband. She returned to Tenacity and became the school nurse and the football team's medic by default.
They meet before school starts. Finn is still drawn to Kenzie and interested in pursuing a new relationship. But Kenzie built walls around her heart after being burned first by Finn and later by her ex. She makes it clear she will never marry again. This vow is reinforced when she discovers she is pregnant and refuses to risk her baby's security. However, friendship is safe enough, and she and Finn begin spending a lot of time together.
I loved their time together. Finn loves Kenzie and knows he wants her in his life. He also knows that she isn't ready to hear it. I love how well they understand each other. Kenzie understands the effect Finn's father has on him and excels at counteracting the self-doubt those confrontations cause. At the same time, Finn understands Kenzie's fears and wariness and wants to give her the time she needs. It doesn't take long for the friendship to move to friends with benefits, and it's easy to see how right they are together. Kenzie's fears keep her from admitting her feelings, even to herself. It takes an intervention from her friends to break her free and open her eyes and heart. Finn also gets some advice from an unexpected source.
My favorite secondary characters are Kenzie's new kittens, Tom and Ed. I loved how and why Kenzie got them, and how they gave Finn another reason to spend time with her. Their antics were adorable.

Excited to be back in Tenacity, Montana. We have a second chance romance with a twist of rekindled friends to lovers. I really like the small town and we have Finn, former high school and pro football star who came home after a career ending injury and to no one’s surprise he gets recruited to coach the high school football team. We also have Kenzie, who was his ex and the one who got away and we also find out more about something they went through in high school which Finn still thinks about. We find Kenzie and Finn at a bar trying to do the small talk thing and she tells him about their divorce and of course as these stories do we have a friendship rekindling however Kenzie finds out she is pregnant and her ex wants nothing to do with the baby, which is perfectly fine with Kenzie. Kenzie and Finn definitely start seeing each other as friends then moves to friends with benefits then Finn throws Kenzie the biggest curveball and of course she isn’t interested, she’s told him all along that she isn’t interested. Who knew that Oscar of all people would help Finn in all things Kenzie and how to fix things. Loved how this story ended with Finn showing back up to Kenzie’s home and laying it all out there and this time she’s all in. Really liked the book and I have to say not a fan of Finn’s dad and I loved how Finn pretty much told him how it’s going to be. Really liked how everything fell into place for not only the football team but Kenzie and Finn. Can’t wait for the next book!

Sweet awesome read. Finn Monahan, a professional football player, is back in his hometown of Tenacity, Montana after a career ending injury. The Golden Boy of Tenacity. He loves his new life, job as a realtor and is coaching the high school football team. Everything is great. All he needs to do is make the football team win. Will he? Kenzie is back in town after a divorce and finding out she’s pregnant. She will raise her child on her on, since her ex doesn’t want marriage or children. She works as the high school nurse. Kenzie knows she will run into her old high school sweetheart, Finn, who broke her heart. When Finn runs into her, he realizes that he made the biggest mistake of his life when he left Kenzie behind, because he has always loved her. He had a lot of pressure from his father to become a NFL player. So he left. Now the two decided to let the past go. They become friends again. They also are friends with benefits, since their chemistry is off the charts. Finn needs to remember that’s all it is, a fling. Kenzie will never get married again. It will just be her and the baby. She just can’t trust anyone again after all of the hurt. Can Finn change her mind? Can he prove that he’s the right man for her? He already loves her baby too? Can he make Kenzie realize that he would not leave her again? Will she let her heart rule? Can they have a second chance? I love the characters. I was rooting for them. This story was sweet. Loved it. Worth the read? I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily.

Finn and Kenzie were high school sweethearts that thought they would be together forever and then heartbreak happened and they went their separate ways. Finn went on to football fame and played in the NFL until injury ended his career and he came home to his hometown and Kenzie went to college, married, and realized that sometimes you don’t always get what you thought you signed up for. Kenzie and Finn meet up again on the day her divorce is final and fifteen years has passed since their breakup but the affection, longing, and more is still there beneath the surface.
This story draws you in from the first sentence. There is a true connection between these characters, you feel it in the way they interact with each other. The secondary characters come to life and I hope we get to explore more of them. Oscar is one of my favorites and I love that Finn gets him and connects with him. Take a trip back to Tenacity and enjoy the warmth of the sweetest small town and the sweet and spicy second chance relationship of former high school sweethearts.

Heading in two different directions and apart for 10 years, Finn had the NFL career that he thought he wanted until injury took that away, and Kenzie became a nurse and married, until that relationship failed..
Now they're both back in Tenacity Montana, their hometown, and both single. Finn is coaching the local high school football team and Kenzie is the school nurse. August 1, 2026The Maverick’s Homecoming is part of the Montana Maverick’s series. This book is definitely worth reading. When Kenzie comes back to town after splitting from her husband and shortly runs into her ex. The ex that she should still hate by all means; however, she wants him to call her after seeing each other. Unfortunately, Finn Monahan does not. Finn is home after being injured in the NFL and owning a real estate company he passes time by coaching the team at his alma mater. Finn learns that with his ex Kenzie being a school nurse and attending the weekly football games his heart wants her more and more; however, Kenzie has walls around her heart after being burned by Finn before, and, now newly divorced and pregnant puts her more on guard where she is very protective over her heart. Yet can an old flame rekindle in the small town and love win for once or is past experiences going to put love out the window and keep you single? Definitely a great read from a 5 star author who makes you feel as if you are on the sideline watching and rooting for the characters.

The Maverick’s Homecoming by Christine Rimmer is her latest in the Montana Mavericks series. Finn Monahan, town football legend, is BACK HOME!! And who does he run into? The one that got away, his high school sweetheart, Kenzie Osborne. The chemistry between them is unmistakable and wonderful to see. He’s willing to try and take up where they left off but she’s more standoffish. It makes sense, she’s had her heart broken before, TWICE, and once by Finn himself. But the new part-time high school football coach, full-time realtor, can’t keep his eyes off the high school nurse. The way Christine weaves their story together makes you wish it could happen to anyone. I love that he’s willing to stand up for her when she’s feeling down and neither of them can take their eyes off each other. Leave it to the waterboy to see the love that’s between them. Keep them coming, Christine!!

I love the setting of Montana and the small town atmosphere.
Finn and Kenzie dated all through high school and then went separate ways.
Finn sight her out moving back but Kenzie is only ready for a friendship.
I didn’t blame her in the least after what occurred to her after their senior year and when she was fragile Finn dumped her.
The relationship is a slow burn replete with a new baby coming and two furballs.
I liked that Finn was very sire what he wanted and tread carefully with Kenzie.
Sometimes it takes an objective bystander to state the obvious and pour water on the situation which happily led to the conclusion.
The only thing to improve the story would have been if Finn’s annoying father has been used as a football.

Another awesome book by Christine Rimmer. Once you start reading you won't want to stop.
Finn and Kenzie used to be high school sweethearts until his Dad talked him into leaving her behind and pursuing his dream of being in the NFL. Kenzie married Tate and after they were divorced she swore she was never getting married again. She was not having her heart broken again.
Finn showed back up in town and he kept running into Kenzie. They talked and she swore they would just be friends. As they spend more time with each other will that change.

The Maverick’s Homecoming is part of the Montana Maverick’s series. This book is really enjoyable and worth reading. Kenzie came back to town after leaving her husband and shortly runs into an ex. The ex that she should still hate, but she wants him to call her after seeing each other. Unfortunately, he does not. She finds out that things have to be different and refuses to allow herself to be caught up again, as it seems that love isn’t in the cards for her. I really enjoyed this storyline, although it’s similar, it’s not like other books. The characters were realistic and a joy to read about. Grab this five-star read and enjoy this and the rest of the series.

They were high school sweethearts until a pregnancy, and then the loss of the baby drew them apart. Finn is returning to Tenacity, MT, after his career was cut short due to an injury. Kenzie is dealing with a divorce, and then finding out she was pregnant. They are working on second chances because the feelings are still there.

Loved it! When ex pro football player Finn is back home and so is Kenzie, who is newly divorced and pregnant. Could this be their second chance at love? They have always loved each other, can they put all their past fears aside. I loved seeing how their love grew and how Finn loved that baby. This was a wonderful read, can’t wait to see what’s next for these “Montana Mavericks.”

amazing story. Finn and Kenzie's have been in love since they were 14, but things happen and years later Finn moves back to Tenacity and all the old feelings come back stronger. Kenzie just got a divorce from a cheating husband and now she is pregnant and wants to be just friends with benefits. But Finn hopes he can change her mind. love the book.

I enjoyed this light hearted story about first love and how strong and true it can be. Finn and Kenzie because of life challenges, age and just pure bad luck could not make it the first time around. However now they are older wiser and have a few hurts under their belts they are able to make a go of it. The story is really charming and sweet.

I felt like I was heading for a reading slump and decided to pick this book up because it was shorter than the others on my TBR pile.
I'm glad I did because this story isn't heavy but it is full of good characters and a good story.

I loved Kenzie and Finn’s story. True love reunited! Great story from start to finish. Characters are strong, independent and truly in love. Another winner from Christine Rimmer! Would have liked a longer ending!

The Maverick’s Homecoming is a charming small town second chance romance. I loved the characters, the connections and slow burn chemistry. I enjoyed their journey as they find their way back. It’s a lighthearted, fun read.

A wonderful second-chance romance for a couple who were high school sweethearts. Pregnant with her ex-husband's baby and a guy that is willing to step in and be everything! The husband she deserved and the baby's daddy! Wonderful story! Loved the kittens, and the connection to the author's pets!
