I continue to be impressed by the faith content in these Love Inspired books!

The reason for the estrangement and the continued tension made me eye roll but the storyline was interesting and the side characters were great!

Audiobook was also solid.

Would recommend!

Clean and no language.

First, I want to thank NetGalley and HarperCollins for this ALC (Advanced Listener Copy). The following are my own and honest opinions.

This was a was a quick, fast-paced romantic suspense which I haven’t read a lot of. The suspense would immerse me into that world as if I was right there.

However, lots of the death attempts on the characters felt a little too exaggerated. After the 2nd and 3rd one, they were just too unbelievable. There were more.

I enjoyed the romance. It was naturally sweet despite all the chaos around them. My favorite part of the book was the faith filled moments because it made their love story stronger.

This book was okay in my opinion. I felt like the premise was a little far fetched. I didn't really connect to the main plot twist towards the end. And the potential trope of enemies to lovers was just okay. I feel like it was just not hitting the way it could have. I'm not saying the book was bad, but I wish it had taken a different direction and was more suspenseful

4.25✨ A perfect blend of suspense, cozy atmosphere, and faith!

Don’t let the "Christian Fiction" label deter you—a good story is a good story, and this excellent cozy mystery deserves mainstream appreciation! A Killer on Campus perfectly delivers a cozy atmosphere wrapped inside a suspenseful thriller. It genuinely feels like watching a Hallmark movie script but with much more depth, faith, and mystery.

The story follows Jane and Ridge, childhood friends divided by a tragedy from four years ago. When Jane’s safety is threatened, I love that she has a good head on her shoulders and isn't too proud to reach out to Ridge. Ridge is equally wonderful; he doesn't force his help on her, but he is always looking out for her, even when she doesn't realize it.

Beyond the mystery, the spiritual themes really resonated with me. The book beautifully addresses the doubts we face after loss, and our human tendency to try to handle everything alone instead of talking to God. It constantly reminded me to practice gratitude and surrender control over things only God can handle.

For me, the entire point of reading Christian fiction is to reaffirm your beliefs outside of church and fellowship, and this book absolutely delivers. It is a thoroughly enjoyable read filled with lovely characters, family, and community. Highly recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for an ARC copy of this Audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Jane Mason is a forensic photographer and is a professor at the college she attended and teaches photography. In addition to teaching, she does work as a forensic photographer and currently finds herself a target of a killer. She believes her attacks are a result of her investigation of her aunt’s decades-old murder which occurred on the campus where she now teaches.
Her former childhood friend, Ridge Snyder and former Navy Seal, comes to her rescue.
All through Jane’s childhood she, Ridge and Justin, her twin brother, were best friends.
Then Justin was killed on the battlefield and Ridge couldn't save him. Jane blames him for convincing Justin to join the Navy with him.

Jane still blames Ridge and he blames himself, but he would like to be friends with Jane. He is assigned to protect her which is something he wants to do. Since she is not safe at her home, Ridge knows of a loft apt where she can stay that is safe.
Story follows as Jane seems to constantly be in danger and Ridge continues to be her bodyguard.

Whodunit was a surprise.

A face-paced romantic suspense featuring a vulnerable heroine and the relentless killer (and I do mean relentless!) pursuing her. Loved Jane's occupation as a forensic photographer combined with her part-time job as a photography instructor at the local college - made for some interesting background scenes. As if she isn't busy enough, Jane is committed to re-opening a cold case involving a decades old murder and somebody doesn't like that. Hence the relentless pursuit.

Enter estranged childhood friend, Ridge who has the unique abilities to keep Jane safe and we're off to a thrilling edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense. Lots of tension, lots of emotion and so many hair-raising scenes too plentiful to count. Phew! Oh -- and I knew right away who the killer was and it drove me crazy when Jane and Ridge couldn't keep up! :-)

I listened to the audible edition narrated by Patricia Santomasso who did a wonderful job breathing lie into these characters and drawing out the suspense scenes to shivery perfection.

Forensic photographer Jane Mason finds herself in a killer's crosshairs when she starts digging into her aunt's homicide case.

Now a teacher at the very college where her aunt was murdered, she spends her spare time trying to figure out what happened to her aunt. But when she is attacked on campus she knows that she is onto something. Her estranged childhood friend Ridge Snyder jumps in offering help and support.

Full of tension, this book has a lot going on, and twists that kept me guessing. I liked that Ridge and Jane worked on repairing their relationship and coming to terms with what happened in the past.

There is a lot going on, with great tension and a plot that kept me on my toes. Great characters and relationship building. Highly recommend!

Forensics photographer Jane Mason has been shot at twice in one night. She also reopens cold cases and tries to solve them. Her former childhood friend, Ridge Snyder and former Navy Seal, comes to her rescue. Jane, Ridge and her brother were fast friends all through childhood. Then the unthinkable happened and Jane's brother was killed on the battlefield and Ridge couldn't save him. Jane blames him for convincing her brother to join the Navy with him. The cold case Jane opens is that of her aunt. Someone doesn't want the case reopened. They will do anything to stop her. Ridge will do anything to protect Jane. Even though he knows she holds him responsible for her brothers death. I enjoyed listening to this book and recommend it.

Everything you love about a Hallmark Mystery & suspense in a page turner of a read: A Killer on Campus by Rhonda Starnes.

Jane Mason is a local community college professor and a forensic photographer for the local small town police department. Trying to solve her aunt's death and capturing photos at a new crime scene, she begins dodging bullets. Now, where ever she goes, so does a killer wanting to silence her for good.

Ridge Snyder, her childhood friend & crush, has returned to his hometown and ever since he talked Jane's brother into the service with him (and he was killed in action) their friendship ended. Now home, he finds that Jane is in danger and he will stop at nothing to protect her and maybe tell her the truth of why he turned away from her all those years ago.

This will capture your attention from page one and keep you reading to the very last sentence.

This is a great Christian cozy mystery that delivers a suspenseful thriller while feeling like a Hallmark movie script. It is full of depth, faith, and mystery following the story of childhood friends divided by tragedy. When Jane's safety is threatened Ridge begins to help her despite their past history. This book addresses fear, doubts, loss, and how we often try to deal with this on our own instead of leaning on a God. This book definitely reaffirms Christian beliefs while providing an enjoyable read with great characters.

I loved every single thing about this book! This is a new to me author. I have read a lot of Love Inspired Suspense books and this one was different than the others, at least in my opinion, and definitely not in a bad way. The danger/excitement started immediately and I got super creeped out. Imagine trying to outrun a killer on a college campus! I LOVED Jane and I ADORED Ridge. This was so good. I highly recommend and I will most definitely be reading another Rhonda Starnes book. Well done!!

"A Killer on Campus" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. Jane, her twin brother, and Ridge were best friends as kids, but Ridge turned down Jane's request to date in high school because he felt she deserved someone who knew how to be a good husband. He then convinced her brother to enlist as a SEAL with him, which Jane opposed and said it'd end up with her brother killed. And she was right, so she's refused to talk to or acknowledge Ridge since then. She continued to barely tolerate his help when her life was threatened and he repeatedly saved her. She also kept making it hard for him to protect her by insisting they do things her way. But he knew her well and understood what he was getting into.

Jane finally came to realize how her actions had impacted various people, putting them in danger or causing Ridge to carry a heavy burden of guilt over her brother's death. She did change her behavior, forgive Ridge, and helped Ridge to forgive himself. I understood why she decided she had always loved him: who wouldn't want to be loved and protected even when you're not being that lovable?

The suspense came from the danger to Jane and those who helped her. They also tried to solve the old mystery, though Jane only uncovered one clue. Ridge had a strong faith in God and prayed over things that concerned him and didn't just ask for help in staying alive. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense novel.

The narrator of the audiobook did a good job of saying the text in a way consistent with the text (with surprise if surprised, etc.), and it was easy to follow who was talking and what was going on. She read the story in a way that easily kept my interest.

I received a free audiobook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
