Can Marian find a way forward or is salvation already out of reach?
The past and present collide as Marian’s struggles with her place in the Church come to a head.
Through Ravenna’s questionable guidance, she begins to glimpse a path forward—one paved in blood. But with the Redeemer revealing a godly side, Marian must confront a dark Is there truly no one in the Church worth saving?
Marian Heretic #3 continues its ascent as one of the most compelling dark‑fantasy books on the shelves. Each issue has been strong, but this chapter feels like the moment where everything sharpens—where the emotional stakes, the theological tension, and the blood‑stained path Marian walks all converge into something truly electric.
Tini Howard pushes Marian to her breaking point, forcing her to confront not just the Church that shaped her, but the fractures within herself. The collision of past and present is handled with precision, revealing how deeply Marian’s wounds run and how impossible her choices have become. Joe Jaro’s art elevates every beat—moody, expressive, and unafraid to linger in the shadows where Marian now lives.
Ravenna’s “guidance” remains as unsettling as it is fascinating, a whisper that feels equal parts prophecy and manipulation. Through her, Marian glimpses a future that might offer freedom… but only if she’s willing to spill more blood along the way. And then there’s the Redeemer—unexpectedly divine, unexpectedly complicated—forcing Marian to ask the question she’s been avoiding since issue #1: Is there anyone left in this Church worth saving?
This issue doesn’t just move the story forward; it deepens it. It sharpens the moral ambiguity, expands the mythology, and leaves you desperate for the next chapter. Outstanding work from both Howard and Jaro—this series keeps getting better, darker, and more irresistible with every page.
I love Tini Howard's writing, she has not disappointed on this short series she is writing for BOOM. I love Marian kind of reminds me of The Magdelena from the 90's! This 3rd issue didn't disappoint. Marian learns some knew knowledge and we learn her past. Loved it.
