I love Ari St Claire’s writing this is her first true dark romance and she knocked it out of the park.. Reid and Owen have both been through a lot this story is about redemption. I truly can’t wait for the next book to come out of this series!! Reid’s first finance I dislike a heck of a lot. I loved how Owen always showed how much he cared and loved Reid.. This book sucked me from beginning to end!!

Shattered Gravity is a dark, age gap, single father, spicy romance. This Beauty and the Beast retelling featured Reid Taylor and Owen Lockwood.

When Reid caught her (now ex) fiancé with her best friend Alyssa, she was prepared to stick to book boyfriends. She threw herself into work - running Magpie Dreams, a vintage boutique. She would post photos on social media to showcase new pieces and ended up catching the attention of a mystery man online.

Owen is a former marine. He suffers from PTSD and it seems that as a way to cope for everything outside his control, he has embraced his dominant side. He is a DOM who needs to be with someone comfortable being completely submissive with him, both in and out of the bedroom. When Owen attention stumbles upon Reid, he is completely taken with her, but he recognizes that there is quite an age gap between them, and she deserves better. That doesn't stop him from continuing to communicate with her via social media.

Reid's sister, Kylie, arranged a boudoir photo shoot for her to help her embrace her sexuality and feel comfortable in her skin. Someone she doesn't know has been asked to fill the role of her partner in the photo shoot. When it turns out that said stranger is Owen, I'm not sure who is more surprised. The two grow closer, and you'll need to read it to find out how that works out for this duo.

While there may be an age gap between Reid and Owen, they share some intense chemistry. The two are well suited, both recovering from past trauma. The author successfully pulled me into their story, and I ate it up. The characters were engaging and the story was compelling. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, especially her book bestie Jessa, and her sister Kylie. Those siblings share a unique and beautiful relationship.

I definitely enjoyed this read, which is not surprising. St. Claire consistently delivers.

Two broken people, different situations, different traumas; but equally in need of comfort.
In this book we get a deeper understanding of Reid and Owen’s story. It’s the push pull of their narrative that is on that middle between salvation or downfall. This book is dark in several aspects and it will have you wondering how the thin threads of love can support the past of two people. If you’re into dark romance and whatever comes from it, just read and expect some very raw situations throughout.

A different type of Beauty and the Beast retelling with BDSM

A single dad, age gap, and a former marine vet with both characters having different traumas that carry deep emotional scars from their past, they are two damaged souls, with different situations, despite their differences they manage to become each others light. Owen and Reid are two imperfect people that are so perfect 2gether. Their connection is raw, obsessive, and messy in the best way. It’s chaotic, emotional, and absolutely captivating. Despite everything, they just work imperfectly perfect for one another.

good double redemption story got this as an ARC so there may be some editting than I'm missing. Seemed like the beginning dropped you into the middle of something and was a little confusing and then the chapter about the test comes after they had already talked but the results

💋❤️Beauty and the beast retelling as a dark romance💋❤️

Shattered Gravity is a dark romance that is also considered a beauty and the beast retelling. The main characters have experienced past trauma making it a book where both characters have healing to do.
Some tropes are not limited to, but include: age-gap, BDSM, marine vet MMC, book lover FMC, and it's SO spicy!

Reid is the FMC who LOVES books and her book boyfriends, has a past SA that she struggles with among other things, and is the owner of Magpie Dreams(a vintage antique store). Owen is the MMC who is also a marine vet, single dad, and a DOM. He has PTSD that he struggles with.

All it takes is a couple flirty DM's and one stranger photography session and these two MC's fall head over heels for one another! Question is, will their past traumas get in the way of their love or will these two find a way to overcome their pain and trauma to bring out the best in one another? You'll just have to read it to find out! 😉🤤🤭❤️

💬🗨Favorite quotes🗨💬:

"She embraced my demons and led them by the hand into her sweet darkness, and together, we sought the light."

"She didn't realize just how strong she was. That the heart that looked out for everyone else to that point of emotional and physical exhaustion didn't have to go at it alone any longer."

"A soft smile lit her lips, and in that moment I fell the rest of the way. Gravity giving away. Hard, fast, and without worrying about the landing because if she was falling with me, then that's all that mattered."

"I lost myself staring into his soul, and never wanted to find my way back...because in being lost in him, I found myself again."

"Sometimes our mistakes become the reasons we find ourselves, Owen. Broken isn't an imperfection. It's a way to find yourself."

I really enjoyed this book. 😍 The spice, the trauma, the healing, the love...just all of it. I felt like I related to Reid in more ways than I would like to admit, but in reading this, I felt like I was less alone in the things I have been through myself. This is a love story worth reading, and it'll take you on a w

I've read a lot of Ari's books under her other pen name. So to know she is writing dark fairytale retellings, had me very excited. It's one of my favourite type of stories.
This was Beauty and The Beast retelling.
Read TW as a few sensitive subjects, also D/S, light BDSM.
Owen is a veteran and suffers from PTSD from his deployment. He is however the one that wants to take care of everyone and keep them happy.
Reid is an owner of a Vintage Boutique and I loved everything about her shop. She also carries her own scars and trauma from her past. Yet she is always looking happy and forever helpful.
Both of them have failed relationship for different reasons and that's when he finds Reid, his new obsession.
Their relationship is unconventional but they connect immediately from their shared dark desires.
They eventually get together but his doubt and age gap makes him leave and shattering her heart.
This is 2 Book in 1, so is told in 2 halves.
I think it's better as one story rather than 2.
They are very hot and steamy when together and he is very possessive and the way he calls her 'baby girl' *swoon* I can hear him through the pages.
However he is his worst nightmare and due to insecurity and poor decision making, he keeps repeating his mistakes in the name of protecting her. I was getting a bit annoyed with him and he is lucky Reid is a saint. Oh she makes him work for it but still.
It's a hard journey for both of them, they work through hard stuff, their desires and dreams.
I loved the friends group from both sides and I recognised a few of the characters from Reid's sides. It was nice seeing how they were doing.
I loved Owen's little boy, he was so cute and smart.
There is a lot of emotions at play, heartbreaking, very hot moments and a fantastic group of friends and family.
Excited for more in this series.

A dark Beauty and the Beast retelling? Yes, please!

I've read a few books from Ms. St. Claire and I've enjoyed them, so I jumped at the chance to read a free copy of this one.

Owen was interesting because I felt like I knew nothing about him but also learned a good deal about him, keeping him mysterious. Reid seemed very normal and relatable for the most part, but towards the end of the book, she got really annoying and insecure. She really showed her age and inexperience with her behavior around the 70% mark. As a parent myself, I don't think it's a big deal not to mention you have an older child until you're heading towards being serious about one another, and until Owen told her, nothing in their relationship said they were serious beyond the trust and compatibility in the bedroom. 🤷🏻‍♀️

They're both deeply broken people who need professional therapy, individually and possibly as a couple, if they're going to succeed long-term. But I do believe they'd work out with their HEA.

It's 100% a me thing but I kept picturing Spencer Reid every time I read her name, so Owen's pet name of Angel helped me stay in the story lol

This is an ex military, age gap, single dad and spicy romance. Owen is a Marine Vet with a son and he wants to be a dom. He connects with Reid who is a lot younger than him but obviously still an adult. Their connection gets stronger throughout and they fall in love. Owen makes a few mistakes in life and there is problems they both need to overcome. Aside from all that I REALLY loved the side characters Jessa and Reid’s sister Kylie. Jess and Reid are so fun together! I will say when I started reading it, it’s all about this wedding and getting cheated on right from chapter one but I was like huh? It was a bit confusing cause I don’t even think that for resolved it just popped over to Owen and his team in the past and what not. But besides the beginning I really loved all the book woo! And let me tell you, the spice was SPICING.

Im not typically a military trope girly. It was mentioned and obviously had its lasting effects on the MMC, but it wasn't heavily focused on if that makes sense.

The beginning of the book, I felt like I was placed in the middle of a something so I was a little confused. I kept reading to try to understand (of course) and it was slightly explained, but i was still left a little confused. The main parts I understood.

Now the characters.. yes! The author did a great job of portraying their hardships, why they were doing things, their rationale. I LOVED that the author showed the character flaws and mistakes, because thats what real life is! Thinking about really hard topics and making hard choices. I was rooting for the FMC because she had such a tough go. I really think she made great choices and agreed on everything she did which made relating to her easy!

Beauty and the Beast retelling with a gorgeous Marine Vet, single dad, Stalker with a voice to die for - yes please!!

The start of the book felt like I'd been dropped into the middle of the story and left me a little confused but eventually it all came together and I was fully enthralled in Reid and Owen's story .

They both have past trauma and have each been through a lot but can they come together and heal each other?

Their sexy DM's were fabulous and the spice was spicy and yes the author broke my heart but luckily Owen knows how to grovel and he knows the meaning of grand gestures and fixes all our hearts

This is a spicy BDSM Dark Romance Book - and if that's your thing then this book must be added to your TBR pile immediately
I can’t wait for the next book of this series to come out!!

Thank you Ari for the ARC opportunity

Ari St. Claire first step into dark romance and she did it soo well.

Being a person who has been very involved in the military life I have to say I typically steer clear of military based or influenced books because they tend to over do it in areas and then miss big time in others but Ari she nailed it on all fronts. I love that how she depicted the military life and the aftermath that a lot of service men and women deal with once reintegrating into society.

He was meant to just set up protection for her but it turned into watching and obsessing. Then one session and one camera would forever change them both! The growth and development of these to main characters is simply Devine in every way possible.

It's no secret beauty and the beast is my all-time favourite fairy tale, and this book was giving beauty and the beast vibes from the get-go. Rieds first fiance needs shooting and ill stand by that statement till my dying day cheating fuck-faced twat! Reds constant "Brain didn’t brain" moments were so humbling she had me laughing my head off at times. Owen, baby you were so hot and broken I f**king loved it his focus was always Ried however, part two of the book made me cry at first and then happy then cry again then happy this was an emotional roller coaster

None spoiler qoutes ahead

Wow. Shattered Gravity broke me in the best way. Owen and Reid’s story is intense, messy, heartbreaking and so full of love that I couldn’t put it down. The Marine vet, the single dad, the age gap—every piece just worked together to make it addictive. I felt every ounce of pain, every kiss, every crack in their walls.

This isn’t just a romance, it’s about trust, falling apart, and learning how to survive after the pieces shatter. The emotions hit hard, the spice was perfect, and the rewrite added so much more depth and rawness. Owen had me melting, Reid had me cheering, and together they had me hooked from page one.

Reid and Owen are an unlikely pair. And yet, their interactions are intense, and life-changing, and pushes both of them to grow as individuals, and actually work at fixing some of their broken bits, to allow them to be happy...

There are a number of triggering scenes through the book, so I suggest readers check the content/trigger warnings, but all scenes are done in a fabulous way and weren't traumatic for me in and of themselves. They truly add to the story and show the characters state of mind, and growth, etc...

And overall the story ends in a great way and I love Reid and Owen's HEA...

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was sent this as an ARC to review

Reid has thrown herself into running the Vintage Couture store, left to her by her grandmother, after finding her fiancé and bridesmaid together on Valentines Day of their engagement party.

Owen, a Marine Vet, is haunted by his past and seeks control and dominance to atone for the things he feels responsible for.

The two connect online and quickly find something in the other that fits the broken pieces of their hearts. Is their physical connection enough to overcome the past that haunts them both or will they shatter each other further?

Two damaged souls find what they need in each other-a perfectly imperfect love. I felt a bit lost at the beginning but things became clearer as I read. The chemistry, spice and D/s moments between Owen and Reid singed my kindle. The emotion and raw moments hurt but the humorous additions lightened my heart. Ari masterfully made me feel, fall apart, laugh, grumble and love every moment of Reid and Owen’s love journey. Owen’s groveling and grand gesture was perfection. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was so excited to read this dark romance by this author and it did not disappoint. There's so many emotions that I felt while reading this. I was hooked from page one. This story takes and builds up the characters throughout. And it weaves in details that create a visual of what is happening in the book. I really liked the characters because they came across as very realistic. And you could just relate to them and what they were going through. An absolutely wonderful story.

Thank you to the publisher for an advance copy. My opinions are my own and freely expressed.

Full disclosure - received this book as an ARC to read/review.

This was an unknown author to me. as far as I am aware, so was unsure of what to expect. While the story was ok, two broken souls facing their demons and eventually helping each other deal with them, for me, it fell short. I don't know if it was the style it was written in, often a little wordy and repetitive, or that it felt like it needed a good edit, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me.

I wanted to love it, as the premise sounded good, but it didn't quite get there.

I really enjoyed reading this! There is so much depth to the characters and how they evolve throughout the book, their insecurities and doing what they think is best. I also love how different the FMC is, and how some of the scenes are completely different to any book I’ve read. I also enjoyed how it still fits in with characters in other books but can equally be read as a standalone.

I will say that sometimes it could feel a little repetitive with phrases but overall a really good read.

When two broken people find each other on an online forum they start chatting. When friends sign them up for a stranger photo session, they both wear masks and Reid thinks that Owen doesn’t recognize her but she is totally wrong!

A BD$M quiz opens up Reid to a whole new world of experiences.

Owen is afraid that his sexual preferences will scare her away, so he tries to avoid her, but they end up dating and have their ups and downs. He is ex-marine with a whole lot not secrets and she is a victim of sexual assault. They both have their secrets to unlock.

Reid was dealt a crappy card with her fiancé. That fool got what he deserved! Anyways, in the shadows there was Owen, who found his new obsession. He felt so protective of Reid. Made sure she was his priority. But then this guy also struggled his past trauma that lead him to GROVEL and make grand gestures.

Overall, I’m glad Reid and Owen got their HEA!

Thank you Ari St. Claire for giving me the opportunity to read Shattered Gravity in advance!

Talk about unhinged.
I’m in love with Owen.
Even if I wanted to throw my kindle a few times with the mistakes he was making with Reid.

Ari created characters that felt real. The storyline played on the fact that people are not perfect. They have flaws, and how they react to said flaws, whether to run from them or to embrace them, changes the course your life takes.

This book is a dark retelling of beauty and the beast

I really love a good retelling of a classic fairytale and this one was dark, emotional and gripping to read, however the beginning was a little confusing as it kinda dropped you in the middle of the story and you do feel like you missed something.

Saying that i still really enjoyed this book, the characters were enjoyable to read aswell

Shattered Gravity is book one of the Unhinged Love Series.

It is divided into two parts as it was originally released as a duet with Trust Fall and Free Fall. Reid and Owen have a lot to go through in this one. There is a lot of heart breaking moments, but we do get some good moments as well. It was an enjoyable read.

If you in to military tropes single dad, age gap this might be your next read

Owen’s story is intense, messy, they go through a lot they are some heartbreaking moments but the story is full of love. It’s a story of redemption for both of them. They aren’t perfect and they are not your usual D & S relationship but they fit together perfectly.

This was an enjoyable read! I really like Reid & her friend group. She was sweet, kind and upstanding. She was truly everything that Owen needed to find happiness! Now Owen made me want to throw my Kindle a few times... he repeatedly made the same type mistakes. Seriously, he needed a good shake. Overall this was a fun retelling!
