Nicolette Evergreen has been called every word in the book—except for nice. Her latest scheme has her holed up in her remote cabin deep in the woods, far from the mess she’s left behind and the past she’s always been trying to outrun.
As Christmas draws near, she's utterly alone. The seemingly wholesome family she once cherished is shattered, and her childhood home now serves as a grim reminder of lost joy and the ghosts of Christmas past. With a brutal blizzard closing in, she plans to ride out the storm, cut off from the world, and remain hidden in the icy silence.
That is, until she comes face-to-face with a monster hellbent on claiming her. The same creature from the childhood tales, the one parents warn their misbehaving children about—the one she’s come to find in her darkest of dreams.
Krampus.
But the stories of the Christmas Demon don’t quite add up—his whips and chains inflict a different kind of pain, and even as the winter storm rages outside, he stirs a heat inside her that will burn her alive if she’s not careful. But now, Nicolette’s not sure she wants to escape or if she wants to watch herself burn.

This really had a surprising amount of potential, but we lost focus y’all (yes I’m annoyed at the Krampus x Con-Artist romance novella, if you’re reading this you chose to be here):
Despite being under 200 pages the plot somehow drags with a timeline that frequently felt confusing and disjointed due largely because of too much retreading between POVs, and a complete tonal shift at 60%.
Nothing annoys me more than when I think I’m about to get a trashy silly time and am met with romantic tropes that only detract from the story that’s already there. Things had already started to feel repetitive both in terms of action and dialogue AND THEN we just take a total left turn and it becomes the most unnecessary romantasy plot, shoehorning in all sort of run of the mill tropes that pulled this away from the our initial through-line. Also why was Krampus just a shadow-daddy? Bonkers 💀
“Baby, it’s cold outside, but hot as hell in here.”
I wanted to love this, the premise was fantastic and the plot twists were teallt good but the spaces between just felt rushed. This deffo has the potential to he a full novel and I think that would have definitely bumped my review rating up.
This was just a great book. I had so much fun reading this. The chemistry between Nicolette and Kryx was phenomenal. The banter was so fun and I loved that Nicolette was a morally grey character. I love the way that Santa Claus and Krampus and other characters are portrayed in this story. The world building is just so interesting and I could read many books in this universe. I can’t wait to see what else this author writes.
Nicolette is a scammer and she lives some where in a cabin where no one can find her. She hasn’t talked to her family for a long time because they don’t know what she does. She is scamming someone for a few days. She’s trying to not use any of the money she has in any of her banks. One of the client she scammed hired a PI, so she needs to keep scamming her latest client so she can buy some food and stuff that she needs. She gets comfortable on her couch while she reads her book. Then she falls a sleep and around Christmas time she has that same dream for almost twelve years. She jolt awake and is cold, the fire has deemed down. She gets up to put more wood and notice a shadow. She saw foot prints on the floor like if someone came down the chimney and walked out but they were not regular foot prints the where large hoof prints. She thinks she’s still dreaming. She walks to her curtain and notice the frost on her window blocking her view. She looked out the window expecting it to be those eyes from her dream but it was nothing but snow falling. She went back to the fire place and put more wood. Even tho her body was warm she couldn’t shake the chill that pricks at her nape causing her hairs stick up. She feels like she’s being watched. Sleep is taking over so she gets comfortable in front of the fire place. As she about to fall asleep sleep she her a click sound on the wood floor. Sleep finally got her and she is back at looking at those same eyes before she woke up. She wakes up the next day earlier than usual. She looks by the fire place and notice something. When she got close to look she say large hoof prints. Her knees gave out a little, this had to be a dream but it wasn’t. What was it? Who was it? Why her? What will happen to her? Must read to find out. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Have you ever wondered what would happen if Krampus was able to get into your dreams and develop an obsession with you for years before finally coming to punish you for getting on the naughty list?
Nicolette finds herself at the mercy of a very kinky Krampus demon. Will she fight him off or will she submit to him?
"Scream my name and remind every monster here who you belong to. Tell them who is the only one who can hurt you and save you. The only one who can push you to the brink of insanity and catch you before you fall."
I love a good Krampus story and this one didn't disappoint. I loved how the lore was slightly changed to make the story more interesting. I related a lot to how Nicolette feels inside her own head regarding the people who were once part of her life.
"Ever person I've ever let into my life has left me high and dry, making it clear that I'm an unloveable monster-a nightmare myself."
If you're looking for a quick holiday read, definitely pick this one up. Especially if you're curious about a Krampus demon who's obsession is a mortal woman.
Okay, so (I would like to stress, that I do mean for me.) it’s a little early for holiday books. HOWEVER. KL. My darling evil genius has gifted me an ARC of Mistletoe & Naughty and who I am to turn down the chance to read anything she comes up with?
M&N might be about Christmas and the magical beings surrounding it, but it has nothing to do with the big guy in red and *everything* to do with (a super hot) shadow demon, Kryx. You might also know him as Krampus 😈😈
Nicolette landed on the naughty list - but I do think she’s valid even if it’s considered morally wrong. A girl has to eat and if it means scummy men get what’s coming to them, even better. 🤷♀️
I loved the spin KL had for all of the guardians honestly. It was such a cool surprise to see that roles were basically reversed.
Definitely check this one out if you’re looking for some fun!
I have read this story on a weekly basis before it came out, and couldn’t wait to read it completed. The dark side of Christmas where even Saint Nick is no saint. Where dark 🌶️ dominates this holiday world hehehe. Kryx and Nicolette’s chemistry is deliciously sinful in a world where holiday cheers should be joyful and somewhat prude. But their story is beautiful,🌶️-y, a lot of 🌶️ which makes your toes twirl, because even Kryx’s shadows join their physical fun🫣🫣 But it is not only all 🌶️. The storyline that flows beside tags along nicely and fills out every plot hole, while Kryx fills out the others🫣😎 Secrets emerge making you go “woah”. But a happy blissful ending still comes… no pun intended🤣
I love a good dark holiday book with a lot of sprinkled hotness🤣 And this book was very very! nice to read! 5/5⭐️
If there's one thing the FMC and I have in common, it's our hatred of Christmas. And no, it's not just because we're both Grinches.
For thirty-two years, Nicolette Evergreen has been many things, but never nice. Why all this rebellion? Was it her father's genes, or his abandoning his wife and daughter, leaving them penniless? You decide. However, for several years now, she has been haunted by a strange figure whom she cannot name. She is certainly grateful to him for the nightmares he gives her and more besides🤭
Everything changes when he finally reveals himself in the real world, and what he reveals to the poor human is both thrilling and filled with other forbidden sensations😏 If you thought that Krampus was the villain of the story, try reading this book! Although it is short, it will leave you breathless and speechless at the absurdity that it catapults you into😱
“Sticks and stones may break bones,” he says lowly. “But whips and chains excite me, little vixen. Make me suffer.”
If you’re looking for your next dark holiday read, Mistletoe & Naughty will have you wishing you were on the naughty list.
The things I’d do for Krampus are unfathomable 😩🥵 I’m not even all that into demon smut but Kryx had me questioning everything 🤭
Nicolette is a force to reckon with all of her own accord. She’s morally grey, makes men wish they’d never met her, and needing to lay low for awhile.
A winter blizzard keeps her locked away in her cabin in the woods. Krampus haunts her dreams. He’ll keep her warm for the winter, with his whips and chains.
Have fun reading this one. Tis the season, after all 😈🎅🏼
Nicolette is a scammer targeting cheating husbands. Krampus aka Kryx enacts punishments against people who’ve made the naughty list. Nicolette, unsurprisingly, makes the list, though her and Kryx’s history actually goes back ten years or so, even though she can’t quite remember.
There’s a not altogether surprising but still fun plot in here, a boatload of fun spicy times between Nic and Kryx, and if you look closely enough, even some allegory about society (the people in power are the ones who are truly corrupt but they claim that everyday people are the bad ones, you say??)
Also, no context quote but, tell em, Nicolette: “two women shouldn’t have to suffer because of the actions of one pathetic man”
Really enjoyed this, thank you to KL Hill for the ARC!
I am in love!! This is an amazing take on Christmas stories and krumpus stories. 5 stars on story and 5 stars on spicy. And the twist in the end, mind blown. A book about krumpus that is punishing adult not kids and find something in Nicolette that he was not planing. This book had me from the start and I could not put this book down. Thank you KL Hills for the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book.
I really like the lore KL uses for all of the North Pole characters here, especially having Santa also be twisted. As for Kryx (Krampus) and Nicolette, they're perfect for each other and their chemistry is fire (ha, because he's also a demon). I did end up loving the last half of the book more, with all the paranormal players out to play and all those secrets coming out.
‘Twas the night before Christmas.. and I’m going to Hell 😅 Who knew Krampus and shadows could be that kinky lol. But despite the kinky shenanigans, Mistletoe and Naughty was an interesting quick read. Jealousy is a big part of this story, so the drama is great, but what’s even better is the twists you don’t see coming!
Have you ever thought, “What if Krampus was hot and obsessed with me?” Well, this book is your answer! A fun, spicy holiday novella that’ll make your chestnuts roast and sugarplums dance.
♥️ Bad Santa 💚 Morally Gray FMC ♥️ Shadow Daddy 💚 Krampus Romance ♥️ Piercings and sensitive horns
If you need something to keep you warm this winter, pick up this one up. You won’t regret it.
I love Krampus, so when I saw this story, I knew I needed to read it. If this story doesn’t put you in the holiday *spirit* I don’t think anything will. Love a good spicy, twisty read!!
Wow! I thought i was in for a naughty time with Krampus but this book was that and more. I loved the story and lore of St. Nick and the North Pole. The dual POV, fated mates, and Krampus with his piercings had me 🥵🫦. Another great book to add to my Naughty List.
This is a spicy little holiday novella, dark and twisted. And I will never be able to think of Krampus or Santa the same again! A fun read for the dark romance readers come wintertime…. Are you on the naughty list?
I managed 26 pages before I just had to DNF for my own sanity. This was just cringe writing and my ick alarm was screaming at me and I just couldn't put myself through anymore pages.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧ a really short review due to being behind once again ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧ I really wanted to enjoy this a lot more but my bird brain had such a hard time with it. It took me a while to read this despite it being less than 200 pages.
There were just so many plot twists and I felt there weren't just not enough pages to process each one properly. Right when one would pop up, another would come along a couple pages later.
I really enjoyed the concept but it felt super rushed to me. The dream jumping really messed with me. It confused the hell out of me until I realized after the dream was over that it was just in whoever’s head. Just so much going and so little time.
If you prefer your holiday reads a little darker and kinkier- this is for you. I had the absolute time of my life reading it. It is the perfect ratio of plot to spice. A little drama to keep you hooked. LOVE
I love that Krampus is the empathetic character while Santa completely SUCKS. The dynamic was such a fun little change up. Also, Santa being a completely depraved sex maniac was actually kind of hilarious. Minus the implied noncon. That’s bad.
Nicolette is a scammer with her own set of ethics where she only scams shitty men. And well… Nyx is completely obsessed with Nicolette.
I am a powerful demon, capable of destruction beyond any mortal’s comprehension, and yet, I would fall to my knees for this woman and worship her at any altar.
He’s been stalking her in her dreams for years and when he finally makes himself known…oh my- Around 60% we move from smutty smut smut to more of the darker underlying plot and I actually really appreciated the shift. The world building and magic system was really interesting and I found it was pretty well explained for being a novella under 200 pages. I would love it if we got to revisit this universe in a different story.
All in all I really enjoyed this read and I will absolutely pick this up again every holiday season.
