110 books63 followersEver since she was in first grade, Michele Dunaway wanted to be a writer. Even later in life, she found herself writing, and served on Kirkwood High School's newspaper staff, her college paper, and a local music newspaper (which led to Michele's five-second appearance on MTV's "The Week in Rock").
"I've always wanted to write fiction and I published my first stories using my sister's manual typewriter," she said. "I wrote love stories, and married myself and my sister to the cutest boys in the neighborhood. My sister wrote westerns and killed everyone. We had a great time and I guess you can say that those first stories hooked me into wanting to write more."
Michele concentrated on her writing, even while getting her teaching degree.
"While I earned my undergraduate degree in education, my master's degree is in media communication. In my spare time, apart from studying and teaching, my hobby has always been writing. I still have romance novels in the basement from when I was in high school and college. They're scrawled out in my handwriting, and written long before I knew anything about weaving plot, setting, and character. A teaching colleague Ed Washington read a Highlander fan fiction novel I wrote and told me I should try to seriously get published. So instead of it just being a dream, I set about trying to make it reality," she said.
In 1988, Michele set a goal at her five-year high school reunion to be published by the year 2000. While she authored three professional journal articles, and compiled the Journalism Education Association Middle/Junior High Curriculum Guide, it wasn't until August of 1999 that Michele learned she had sold her first novel to Harlequin American Romance.
"I'm thrilled that I accomplished this. Writing for Harlequin has always been a dream of mine, and words can't express the elation I felt when I heard they were buying my novel. I found out in the school office and the school nurse came running out because I was screaming with joy after I put down the phone," she said.
Since then Michele has sold over 15 novels to Harlequin and her works have been translated into French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Japanese among others. Describing herself as a woman who does too much but doesn't know how to stop, Michele also teaches high school English, advises the school yearbook, and raises two daughters and five spoiled housecats.

Where is the rest of the book? Who is Johnny Doe? What happened to the cat?
I hate it when an author expects the reader to read the whole series in order to answer questions that come up in the first book. Oakley has 5 siblings. I am guessing there will be 5 more books and in the last one the questions will be answered. Well, I won't know the answers as I do not plan to read anymore of the series.
From the start of the book Oakley and Rachel felt vibes. Rachel was thinking about how handsome he was, etc. etc. etc. Oakley felt the pull, etc. etc. etc.
The book was not worth reading.

Her Fortune VIP left my heart warm. Oakley, the man that he is. He was stealing my heart as soon as he smiled. I loved his character!! He proved to be a better man than his father. Rachel being a single mom and starting fresh with a new job was everything!! She was strong and didn't give up.
I adored the found family in this story!! Rachel and her baby were his missing puzzle as he was their missing puzzle, creating a beautiful family.

Her Fortune VIP was such a fun, fast paced read! I flew through it because the story kept me hooked from beginning to end. Oakley was an easy hero to root for. He was protective, caring, and impossible not to love. Rachel was such a strong heroine, and I especially loved the relationships she had with her daughter and her neighbor. Those connections added so much heart to the story and made the characters feel real. If you're looking for an entertaining romance with lovable characters and emotional depth, this one is definitely worth reading!

Her Fortune VIP by Michele Dunaway is a book in The Fortunes of Texas book series by the author. This story is about Rachel who is a single mom to her daughter Allie. Rachel needs to move to Emerald Ridge to start over and get a job after a lawsuit that she didn't deserve and makes her pockets much lighter. She has a friend who gets her a job working for Oakley Fortune who is a very nice guy but also was linked to the lawsuit. Will it work out between these two? Read and find out! I thought that the writing was great for a romance and very engaging as a reader. Rachel and Oakley work together in an office, so work romance readers this one is for you! I love a good romance where the office is too small and the characters start realizing their feelings for each other. Both Rachel and Oakley have been burned in love before and throw in Allie who is an adorable baby, from another man and you get quite the story y'all! The story is real and relatable to the real world, especially nowadays where the family dynamic has shifted in some relationships to single moms and men who need second chances, etc. This will be very relatable to some women who are single moms and moms looking for love again after a bad relationship. I would highly recommend this one to fans of second chance romances and mothers looking for love.
