Rate this book
Put on your suit of armor and grab your bear spray because it's time to explore the deadly side of things. This is the perfect book for curious boys and girls who want the real scoop on predators, natural disasters, and dangerous jobs.

That's Deadly! takes you on a journey to explore all of the things in this world that can put your life in jeopardy. From spewing volcanoes to ferocious predators, you'll find tons of fascinating facts that will keep you lying awake at night wondering what exactly might be lurking under your bed. Can't sort fact from fiction? Don't worry, we've layered in playful reality checks so kids know the actual peril possibility factor (PPF) is far less than perceived (as long as you steer clear of certain situations!). With beautiful photographs, humorous text, and fun and funky design, think of it as the almanac of danger.

Crispin Boyer lives in San Francisco and writes about history, wildlife, and technology. He and his wife, Ramah, are the lord and lady of a 1914 Victorian that is 700 times smaller than a typical castle but almost as drafty. Their microwave might not roast an ox like most medieval ovens, but at least their bathroom isn't a hole in the wall that empties into a stinky moat.

Did you know that a platypus has a dewclaw filled with poison? Did you know that your chance of being killed in a shark attack is 1 in 3.7 million? Another great book by National Geographic Kids with information on everything from mummies to extreme sports.

This book is about the deadly wild life of the world. That's deadly gives you contless evil things that are artifical or natural. This book will test your 'fearless factor' and tell you that you shouldn't go out and pet a friendly looking milk snake, it might just be a cobra.

Part of National Geographic Kids THAT’S series, THAT’S DEADLY by Crispin Boyer features “fatal facts that will test your fearless factor”.

A grim reaper named “Tim” introduces the deadly topic pointing out features of the book, defining key vocabulary, and introducing a creepy rating system that goes from risky business to sudden death.

While some chapters focus on deadly critters likes sharks, crocodiles, and snakes, others explore natural disasters, dangerous places, and extreme environments. A variety of visual presentation styles will keep youth interested. Pages include infographics, fact lists, diagrams, and photographs.

Designed for the middle grades, this engaging work of nonfiction is more lengthy that many of the other National Geographic Kids titles making it a great option for middle school youth. However the small type and dense text may be off-putting for some readers.
