My Thoughts
The official blurb ends with this: “For those who find poetry in the stars, solace in nature, and meaning in memories.” The collection does justify this sentence. The book begins with a short note by the poet with acknowledgments.
The poetry collection is divided into three sections: Whispers of the Cosmos (17 poems), Echoes of the Soul (16 poems), and Tides of Time (17 poems). As you can guess by the subheads, the poems in each section are themed around the night sky, emotions, and life.
Many poems follow the pattern of having the first line of every verse as a refrain. I’m usually fond of refrains as the repetition creates a soothing pattern. However, since a lot of them were of the same style, it got a bit too much.
The moonflower is a recurring theme, as you can guess. The usage feels natural and suits the book’s mood. Likely that the book got the title from these rather than the other way around.
There is an illustration with each poem. While all pictures align with the poems, the ‘minimalist’ style is too simple in most instances. A couple of illustrations I liked were for Echoes of Resilience and Search, which had a style I like and can still be called minimalist. Instead of enhancing the poem, the simpler illustrations diluted their essence. I know it is expensive to hire a professional, but we can make decent illustrations using Canva (and no AI), for free. As much as I appreciate the charm of hand-drawn designs, the current ones feel more appropriate for a children’s book.
The first and third sections had more favorites. Interestingly, the first poem wasn’t as strong as I expected a collection would have. It got better soon, of course. But then, poetry is subjective, so every reader’s preference will vary.
Here are a few poems I enjoyed in the collection: • Where the Moonflowers Bloom (so beautiful!) • Through the Woods (evocative but needs a bit more reverence) • Taste of the Rainbow (interesting) • A Star’s Last Night (lovely) • Whispers of Flowers Beneath the Moonlight (evocative) • The Tale of a Shooting Star (so poignant!) • Regret • Fleeting Wonders • A Rainy Day • Our Hearts, Like Ocean • The Climber’s Ascent (heartfelt) • From Crown to Soil • Out of Nowhere (tender and touching)
I don’t know how the Kindle version reads on the device, but the images are misaligned, tiny, and randomly placed when I read the eBook on the desktop via Kindle Cloud. Some illustrations were in between lines of the same verse. I hope the formatting was better on eReaders.
To summarize, Of Moonflowers and Memories is a heartfelt collection of poems, where most of them have a soothing and cozy vibe. The book is likely to leave you feeling warm and peaceful.
Thank you, Blogchatter and the author, for the electronic copy of the book. This review is powered by the Blogchatter Book Review Program and contains my honest opinion.
There are books you read, and then there are books you feel, slowly, deeply, like a gentle tide washing over the edges of your being. "Of Moonflowers and Memories" by Satya Sushmita belongs to the later. It is not a collection meant to be consumed in haste; it’s meant to be lingered with, like an old melody that finds its way back to you on a quiet night. Suffused with nostalgia and lyricism, this book explores the inner landscapes of emotion, the bittersweet spaces where love, loss, solitude, and healing coexist in silent conversation.
Her writing carries a certain stillness, a kind that doesn’t scream for attention but rather whispers in soft, meaningful pauses. Her poems are small vignettes of memory and introspection. They are tender, occasionally melancholic, yet always hopeful. Divided into three thematic sections like Whispers of the Cosmos, Echoes of the Soul, and Tides of Time, the structure itself mirrors the human experience like cosmic wonder, emotional reflection, and eventual acceptance.
The heart of the book lies in its exploration of dualities, love and loss, silence and speech, presence and absence, the seen and the felt. The recurring imagery of the moon, rain, clouds, and flowers isn’t just decorative; it’s emotional architecture. The moon becomes a witness to human tenderness, rain becomes an act of purification, and nature turns into an emotional mirror reflecting the reader’s inner world.
There’s something profoundly feminine about her voice, not in a gendered sense, but in its spiritual and intuitive texture. Her poetry breathes empathy. It captures the quiet endurance of love, the aching nostalgia of time gone by, and the gentle reconciliation that comes with self-acceptance.
✍️ Strengths :
🔸One of the greatest strengths of this book lies in its simplicity. She does not hide behind ornamental language or intellectual abstraction. Her words are accessible, but never shallow. They are like smooth pebbles, ordinary at first glance, but carrying the warmth of countless human touches.
🔸Her poems evoke emotion through restraint rather than excess. She understands the art of the unsaid. In a time where many poets chase flamboyance or cryptic cleverness, her restraint feels refreshing. Each piece feels as though it’s been written during a moment of still introspection under the moon, a sincere attempt to understand life, not to impress with wordplay.
🔸The poems connect thematically and tonally, creating a sustained emotional rhythm. Even the minimalistic sketches that accompany the poems amplify this mood of quiet introspection.
✒️ Areas for Improvement :
▪️While the book is a beautifully written and heartfelt collection, it occasionally teeters on the edge of repetitiveness. The recurring imagery of moonlight, rain, and nostalgia, while soothing, can at times feel overused. A few poems begin to blend into one another, lacking distinct emotional peaks or shifts in tone.
▪️A deeper structural variation, perhaps through stronger narrative progression or bolder experimentation with form, could have elevated the collection further.
In conclusion, it isn’t a loud book. It doesn’t command attention; it earns it quietly. It is the kind of collection you read when you need solace, not spectacle. It holds space for those who have loved deeply, lost quietly, and learned to live gently. The author's poetry feels like the slow unfurling of moonlight on still water, gentle, reflective, and timeless. It may not revolutionize poetry as a form, but it doesn’t need to. Its purpose is simpler and more profound to make you feel seen.
This book is a quiet constellation of emotions—tender, luminous, and deeply human. The poetess, already adored for #InfiniteHer, widens her inner universe with this collection, guiding readers through moonlit reflections and gentle awakenings. Divided into Whispers of the Cosmos, Echoes of the Soul, and Tides of Time, the book feels like wandering through a dream stitched with starlight. Each poem holds the fragility of longing and the resilience of healing, blooming softly like night flowers that open only when the world grows still.
The recurring imagery—moon, rain, clouds, petals—doesn’t merely decorate the page; it forms an emotional architecture for the collection, shaping the reader’s journey through grief, memory, and renewal. Paired with tiny sketches that hum like silent music, makes this book becomes a sanctuary for anyone who seeks solace in quiet moments. Of Moonflowers and Memories is more than poetry—it’s a soft place to rest, remember, and rise again.
"Of Moonflowers and Memories", is a beautiful poetry collection by Writer Satya. It explores themes of the soul, memory, love, loss, longing, self discovery, solitude and nature through vivid imagery and introspection. The book is divided into three sections: 'Whispers of the Cosmos','Echoes of the soul',and 'Tides of Time'. All the sections are well-paced.
The book is described as a lyrical exploration of the soul's quiet corners. It delves into the interplay of moonlight, time, loss, acceptance, connection, love and the ache of nostalgia. The poetry focuses on the beauty of the feminine strength with a self's dialogue with the universe. I particularly liked the minimalist black and white sketches accompanied by the verses which added a freshness to each poetry.
Overall,"Of Moonflowers and Memories", has emotions, silence and resilience with a journey of quiet wonder and the timeless tides of life. A real masterpiece by Writer Satya and truly a wonderful read!
This is a powerful evocative and reflective poetry collection in three parts of theme: "Whispers of the Cosmos," "Echoes of the Soul," and "Tides of Time." The poet delves into the expansiveness of nature, memory, and self through rich, frequently astral, imagery. The book is accompanied by basic, sweet black-and-white line drawings of bird and flower and space doodles that provide a personal and earthy visual relationship to the poems. My personal favorite poem is "Where the Moonflowers Bloom." It describes a realistic and magical picture of a magical night shelter, where the gentle light and scent of the moonflowers establish an atmosphere of deep tranquility. Satya's honest, reflective voice makes this book a soft and spiritual read, ideal for quiet contemplation.
Of Moonflowers and Memories by Satya is an excellent piece of writing on the path of nostalgia, love, and healing. The book is as though a silent night under the moon - peaceful but with feelings that you cannot define. The lines of Satya strike at the hidden parts of the heart and make one pause and ponder. It is not a read, it is a kind of talk with yourself and your forgotten passions. The lines from the section Echoes of the soul , poem "Regret" - I wonder how i would explain, what regret truly looks like..it really push me to read next.
Suffused with a benign nostalgia, this poetry book brings the reader to a sensitive world of memories and nature becoming interwoven. The book is represented as lyrical verses that narrate longing, love, and heartaches in silent worlds, creating emotional landscapes. The use of moonlight and rain imagery makes the atmosphere intimate and relaxed. The words are suggestive and reachable and the poems are deep. The poems are ideal reflections that stay in the mind and bring solace and a subtle reminder of beauty in the simple day-to-day experiences.
“Of Moonflowers and Memories” by Satya Sushmita is a gentle, heartwarming poetry collection that explores nostalgia, love, and hope through simple yet evocative language. The moonlit imagery and minimal sketches make reading it a calming and reflective experience. Some themes repeat, but the overall effect is soothing and relatable—a lovely read for anyone who enjoys emotional, nature-inspired poetry.
On this quiet gloomy Sunday evening, as I am opening the Notes app on my phone to write this review, I cannot help but feel gratitude for all that life has given me. This intricately designed thick shawl, this thermos, this reading nook, the uneventfulness of this evening. And of course, for poetry books like this.
The poet has given a thorough introduction of what we may expect from this book at the beginning. She said that this book is for "those who see the world in metaphors and moments...". Most of us poetry readers, aren't we just that? Life is passing us by as we close our eyes each time we blink, yet somehow we hold onto all that life is with the essence of a few words and moments from ourselves and the nature just beyond us.
This book is a collection of poems divided into three segments - whispers of the cosmos, echoes of the soul and tides of time. All these poems seem to be taken out from one's daily life moments, touched by nature in a brief peaceful whisper. Each poem feels like it has been churned up from the depths of soul, while standing on a balcony, sipping on a cup of warm tea, while the rain pours down leisurely outside. Or the words of a seeker etched upon her mind while looking up at the night sky, enamoured by the beauty in front. What I mean to say is, after reading these poems, one cannot help but pause and ground oneself to the present and be grateful to life and all that nature paints for us.
A strange sense of peace is engulfing my flu induced mind after reading these poems. Indeed, indeed, why do we look for inspiration in people and elsewhere when it's nature who's our biggest teacher? The birds, the plants, the cats, the sheep - all of them know their purpose of this life and its true nature. And look at us humans - making fools of us online and offline, adding stress daily, and not a moment of peace or serenity - and yet, apparently we are still the most intelligent creatures on Earth. Lol. . Take a moment for yourself. Make yourself some tea. And read this book. They would revitalize your soul and body.
🦄REVIEW:Okay, so imagine curling up with a cup of tea right as the sun dips and the moon starts to rise—that's the vibe you get reading Moonflowers and Memories. It's not just a poetry book; it's a whole experience.Satya Sushmita’s writing just washes over you like a soft, moonlit dream. Her voice is intensely poetic and spiritual, but with this gorgeous feminine energy that feels both strong and incredibly delicate. She doesn't shy away from the hard stuff, either. The entire collection is built around those massive, inescapable dualities of life: you know, how every new beginning has an ending hiding somewhere, the cozy comfort of connection contrasted with the sharp stab of loneliness, and the weird mix of pain and grace we all carry. The book is structured so thoughtfully. It's broken into three parts, and as you read through them, it feels like little emotional fragments are being released and slowly settling inside your own spirit, almost like the rhythm of the ocean tide coming in and out. And honestly, the fact that there are these simple, straightforward illustrations on every page is perfect. They aren't flashy, but they give you a moment's pause, making every turn of the page a subtle invitation to reflect.Bottom line? If your heart is feeling a little full, maybe a little nostalgic, or just buzzing with memories on a quiet evening, this book is your perfect companion. It’s the kind of poetry that feels less like reading and more like breathing. It's truly a poignant gem.
"Of Moonflowers and Memories" by Satya is one soulful poetry book, I love how the poet uses nature to express human emotion and the depth of her words touches one's soul deep within. It perhaps might be my love for the moon itself that pulls me even more towards the poems, I miss those days I sat at a place I used to call home under the sky, staring at the vast sky above with my imaginations at its peak and the ink of my pen never dries.
Through her words the author took me back to my past and a glimpse of my future but she also had me thinking about the life I live in the present. I felt connected to each poem and every emotion seemed like mine.
"I love the sta-studded night sky over the sunlit sky, because, it's the time the mind is loudest with poetry." I think almost every poet will resonate with this one.
My personal favorite would be "Regret" cos I know that emotion a little too well.
Over all this poetry book is a must read for poem lovers or if you are looking to start reading a poetry book you can start with this, as the words are simple and easy to understand and are also very relatable.
Of Moonflowers and Memories was the softest talk with my deepest self. One night I was in dire need of peace and I picked it, and it gave me nothing less than a feeling of tranquility wrapped in heavenly words , a feeling of serenity. Each poem was like a soft breath, full of suffering and relief at the same time. Some lines made me pause and read again, not because they were complicated, but because they were so strongly felt.
The description of moonlight, blooms, and fading memories was so strong that it made me see pictures in my mind that stayed there even after the book was closed. I really liked how the author could show the strength of silence , the stillness that is always there, the bravery we never give a shout-out to.
This is not just a book of poems, it is a mirror for the ones who have experienced intense love, lost it in silence, and gone on developing. It revealed the truth that even the slightest of memories are powerful, and that the moon still rises , even after the darkest night. Surely a book that refreshes spiritually.
This book is a heartfelt, soul-stirring anthology of poems that, in a very delicate way, map the inner human emotions -love, loss, hope, and rediscovery. The poet, through his three chapters—Whispers of the Cosmos, Echoes of the Soul, and Tides of Time—invites the readers to a contemplative voyage to the inner and outer universe, a mix of cosmic awe and personal musing.
The lyrical language and haunting simplicity make each poem linger long after reading. The line “What does it take to live a life designed by you and not by destiny?” beautifully captures the essence of introspection and self-determination. The black-and-white sketches enhance the mood, creating a seamless union between verse and visual.
Life is very much like poetry and it is made up of moments of giving in—times when we cease the chase and listen to the calling of our own soul.
An enchanting and introspective piece for dreamers, thinkers, and lovers of the tranquil side of life.
The book is a harmonious collection of emotions that lie buried deep within the poet. Natural elements serve as her mirror to the inner self. As the reader moves through the poems, they initially encounter nature in motion—what the moonflower does, how an extraterrestrial might view the planet, what each planet thinks, how the seasons shift, and what autumn feels. All of this creates a quiet pull toward nature. As the pages turn, however, the poems move inward, delving into silence, resilience, and graver emotions that are ultimately bid goodbye with acceptance.
This progression of emotions is what makes the book an engaging read. Many poems gave me a sense of déjà vu—moments where I found myself thinking, haven’t I felt this too? I am not particularly fond of refrains, so I didn’t connect with some of the poems. That said, I did appreciate several pieces that explored deeper emotions of solitude, and the use of natural elements to illuminate various feelings has been exceptionally peaceful.
Of Moonflowers and Memories by Satya is a poetic reflection of the heart a tender, emotional & beautifully written book. Each poem or piece flows like moonlight gentle, quiet & full of emotion. This book isn’t just poetry it’s a feeling. Every page holds a quiet kind of magic, where memories breathe again, and emotions bloom gently like moonflowers in the night. Each verse feels personal, as if it was written during a moment of deep reflection under a silent sky. The author uses simple words but wraps them in deep feelings that speak directly to the soul. This book is not just about love or loss it’s about remembering, healing & finding peace in the spaces between. What I love the most is how Satya writes emotions that are easy to relate to longing, nostalgia & self-growth. If you love poetry, emotions, or soft storytelling that connects with your heart, Of Moonflowers and Memories is a lovely addition to your bookshelf.
When I saw this book had little doodles alongside each poem, I thought “omgg such cute detail” but honestly? It turned out to be the heart of the experience. I’ve always thought poetry was something you had to understand before you could read it. kinda scary and totally not my thing. But this one changed that for me.
Every poem felt deeply heartfelt. The section titled “Echoes of the Soul” (my favourite) made me pause, breathe, and realise poetry could just feel instead of needing decoding. The little doodles felt like someone gently holding a lantern in a dark room, guiding me through those feelings.
What really won me over was the tone. It was gentle, sincere, not trying to be flashy. It invited, not challenged. I closed the book thinking “Yes, I can read poetry.”
If you’re like me, hesitant with poetry, worried you’ll get lost in abstraction give this one a go. It’s welcoming, warm, and genuinely moved me.
Of Moonflowers and Memories is a very introspective poetry collection that delves into the topics of nature, memory, remorse, and survival. Satya's poetry is wonderfully evocative, generating rich imagery that sticks in your head long after you've put the book down. I myself enjoyed the pervading theme of nature as a fount of power, comfort, and deep wisdom. Poems such as "Nature's Silent Emptions," "Echoes of Resilience," and "The Climber's Ascent" finely juxtapose human vulnerability with ageless resilience in the natural world. The poet's honest probing of an "Old Soul" and the weight of "Regret" struck a chord, rendering the collection a traverse through common human emotions. It's a book that suggests contemplation in quiet and gives subtle, but strong, lessons on loss and living bravely. This book is a soothing, spiritual read.
Of Moonflowers and Memories is a gentle and heartfelt collection By Satya...It is a treasured book that explores love, silence, and regret through nature’s quiet beauty. In this book sunflowers and moonflowers symbolize devotion one to the sun, the other to the moon. It captures the poet’s midnight musings, where darkness inspires creation. It also reflects on lost dreams and fading hopes with haunting grace. Each poem feels like a soft sigh of the soul, blending emotion with imagery. Tender, reflective, and beautifully written, this collection reminds me of the timeless connection between the heart, the sky, and memory all wrapped in words for me ... to feel to live to read to feel the joy of being alive... being human .... being something more then this mundane life... .. This book felt like a hug ...a warm hug... to my chaotic life... a much neede hug ..... .
Of Moonflowers and Memories is a tender, soul-stirring poetry collection that glows with the quiet light of reflection and emotion. Divided into three lyrical sections, the book journeys through themes of love, loss, and longing ,each poem blooming softly like a moonflower under starlit skies. Paired with minimalist sketches, this collection feels like a whispered conversation between the heart and the cosmos-a warm, poetic embrace for anyone who has ever found meaning in melancholy or solace in the stars.
In Of Moonflowers and Memories, Satya Sushmita creates poems that seem to be starlight that was spilled on paper. Each of the verses is a call to introspection, evoking thoughts of love and time and the immortal dialogue of heart and universe. The book reads in an effortless back-and-forth motion- all three movements presenting the stratum of being human.
Her description is terrifyingly beautiful, her voice very meditative. This is not poetry to be read, it is poetry to be experienced--to be lived through. Her sketches are a repetition of her words in gentle simplicity, reinforcing the emotional impact of her words. Sushmita makes introspection their art, they are reminded by the reader that even pain possesses its own sort of luminous grace.
"Of Moonflowers and Memories" by Satya Sushmita is pure poetic alchemy—emotion turning into light. Her words are moonlit rivers, whispers of love, longing, and subdued change. Each section unfurls gently, a study in the aesthetic fragility of awareness and aliveness. Her rhythm is both intimate and like a dream, at once limited and infinite, connecting the soul to the cosmos effortlessly.
Sushmita is a gifted writer, intuitively probing emotional depths and weaving nostalgia and chance into something eloquent and clear. The vignettes heighten the atmosphere, offering a calm, sighing visual accompaniment. This book doesn’t tell tales—it opens her soul up to feeling. A masterful creation is ideal for fans of magic and the discovery of a lifetime of outdoor labours.
Of Moonflowers and Memories by Satya is a heartwarming poetic collection. Such a tender and insightful collection which makes the readers lose themselves in its pages and find pieces of their own story woven into its verses.
This collection is divided into three evocative sections, such as Whispers of the Cosmos, Echoes of the Soul, and Tides of Time. This touching collection of poems explores nostalgia, the beauty of feminine strength and hope. This is a simple yet powerful read.
Such a relatable and lovely read. Each poem is powerful and thoughtful. The minimalist black-and-white sketches make this book more interesting to read. The writing style is unique and flawless.
Overall, I loved this book and would strongly recommend it to all.
It is a collection of poems that run with soft moonlit poems and very philosophic high pitched moods and it all must be read in the slows pace. The motifs of nostalgia, romanticism, recovery and women power rhythmically cross through three exceptionally built segments each poem is the problem of silence. It does not dwell heavily on the soothing down sounds, with the help of the simplistic drawings, therefore, making every page a process of relaxation and reflection. It is a booken to read when you feel like to read it and be able to experience the peaceful evenings and at the same time is quite comfortable to read through and makes the reader feel the peaceful restoration.
This is not just a poetry collection it feels like a quiet conversation held under moonlight, where every word listens as much as it speaks. Reading this book feels like walking barefoot through memories you didn’t even know you were carrying.
What makes this book truly heart-touching is its ability to feel personal without being exclusive.
This collection stays with you long after you turn the last page. It doesn’t demand attention; it earns it through sincerity and emotional depth.
A deeply heartfelt, soul-stirring read for anyone who believes poetry can heal, remember, and softly hold the heart 🌙✨
A poetic journey revolving around the essence of life, nature and everything around it. Many times when we experience something big or small we try to find some meaning behind it, that’s how we learn our lessons from it.

A lyrical journey through the quiet corners of the soul moving in three sections where moonlight whispers secrets, time carries echoes of love and loss, and memories bloom like wildflowers in the night.
Going through a moonlit dream is what reading Moonflowers and Memories is like. Satya Sushmita has a profoundly feminine, poetic, and spiritual voice. Ideal for those who enjoy quiet, lyrical poetry that both haunts and heals.
Of Moonflowers and Memories by Satya is a short poetry book that discusses love and loss and introspection. Not everything about the poems was solid to me, but some were pleasant. I particularly liked Our Hearts Like Oceans, where the author compares our hearts to oceans, deserts, and forests it was written so well. Poems like Peace, A Life Worth Living, and Glass Heart were also good and easy to connect with. It’s a small book that can be read in about twenty minutes, but some poems will stay in your heart for a long time. Overall, it’s a simple and decent read.
Of Moonflowers and Memories by Satya is a collection of poetries that talks about various aspects of nature. The author has crafted poignant poems on night, cloud, sunset, moonflowers and even season each distinct and with its own charm. The language used paints a vivid picture of nature in its various hues. I particularly liked the poem “ Taste of Rainbow” where the author muses on how each color on a rainbow will taste like. A delightful read
