Wren Cade #6

The Ghost Road

On a lonely Ozarks backroad, the lights always appear before someone disappears.

When a teen livestreamer vanishes while filming the legendary “ghost road,” FBI profiler Wren Cade is called in. What begins as an eerie urban legend unravels into a deadly pattern—eight young people missing over the past decade, all linked to the same stretch of abandoned mine country.

With her partner Eli Barron and rookie agent Tiffany Brooks, Wren follows a trail through broken families, secret recovery groups, and the shadow of a powerful man with everything to lose. Each clue leads deeper underground—into the dark heart of a predator who has perfected the art of making people vanish.

To save the missing girl before time runs out, Wren must untangle folklore from fact and confront a killer who turns fear itself into a weapon. But on the ghost road, every step forward could be her last.

Fans of Lisa Gardner, Karin Slaughter, and Tana French will love this dark, atmospheric FBI thriller where myth bleeds into murder.

Having worked on projects with New York Times Bestsellers and USA Today bestsellers, Georgia Wagner recently hit #1 bestseller with her newest series. Location and character are two big factors for Georgia, and getting those right allows the story to flow seamlessly onto the page. And flow it does, because Georgia is so prolific a new term is required to describe the rate at which nerve-tingling stories find their way into print.

When not found attached to a laptop, Georgia likes spending time in local arboretums, among the trees and ponds. An avid cultivator of orchids, begonias, and all things floral, Georgia also has a strong penchant for art, paintings, and sculptures. A many-decades-long passion for mystery novels and years of chess tournament experience makes Georgia the perfect person to pen the Artemis Blythe series. That's where it all started, but the drive to craft thrilling mystery tales soon demanded new characters in new locations.

Where will she take us next?

These are fast moving and very quirky FBI cases.
Wren and Eli finally, finally, get close. They go to dinner. They kiss. She intrigues him. Her mind is like no other.
And then there is Tiffany. Whip smart but also comic relief in these gruesome cases. She remains the anti- Wren.
Of course, Lark still lurks in the background. Seems she’s ready to make her move.
Can’t wait for the next installment.

I enjoyed this one more than the previous book. We still only get the tiniest sightings of evil twin Lark, but I'm assuming Georgia is building up to a big finale.

My biggest gripe about this book was there was literally no motive mentioned for the killer. Wren made comparisons to Lark, but overall there was no rhyme or reason for all the murders, which annoyed me.

Wren is evolving

I enjoy the banter between the 3 main characters. The ending was not a surprise but getting to the end was a good read. The very small change in Wren is an interesting take on being cared for can change a persons take on life
