He’s my old teammate. My new rival. And the guy I can’t stop imagining against the glass.
Hockey captain? That’s me.
Closeted? Also me.
Totally losing my mind because my old high school teammate just transferred to my college team and looks way too good in those stupid tight pads? …Yeah, that’s me too.
Logan Brooks is out and proud now, and apparently, he hates me.
The team thinks it’s because we both want to lead.
But the truth?
All our late-night “fights” in the rink are about something else entirely—and when I finally shut him up with my mouth, I know I’m in trouble.
Now our “rivalry” comes with secret locker room hookups, stolen truck kisses after away games, and way too much heat for two guys who are supposed to hate each other.

My review:
Maybe RTC soon, maybe not because I’m pissed. I loved this, I love the author’s writing but I’m so over the OW and OM drama we got over and over in this book.
There was so much angst and tension, as well as so many issues to solve, that once again, this « trope » only pissed me off and made me less invested. There was no point to it at all, maybe the first one I could get past.. but the others time? It just made me roll my eyes.
We’re not in 2012 authors need to get over using OW / OM as a source of drama when it makes no sense for it to happen in the story (especially between these characters?? They’re dynamic is so messy they didn’t need that and it didn’t add any angst or tension at all!! So what’s the point? It’s just frustrating to read and once it happen you’re relived it’s done, but also angry because … you just wasted pages and pages on something irrelevant to the plot, character development and their relationship, when we could have gotten so much more out of these pages with the focus being on something actually interesting for the story / characters.)
Each book in this series gets better and better. This was book 3 and probably my favorite. Logan and Todd have instant chemistry that stems from their history as teammates in high school. Logan is out and proud while Todd is very deep in the closet and fighting it at every turn. These two are combustible in the best way and when Todd finally erupts and lets go, it’s freeing and beautiful. The side characters are so fun and supportive of the couple and the individual. There’s lot of spice, mild drama and hockey! Great addition to the series and can’t wait for the next!
This was great, the angst, the dual POV is probs my favourite way to read. The rivalry was fabulous, the spice on point and the tender moments made my heart swell. Really good
So first of all, I want to start by saying that this series is what introduced me to the name Kit Jade, and Shut Up and Score immediately put her on my “whatever she writes, I need to read it right away” list. This was the third book I’ve read by her; I received all three as ARC copies, and I have to say—it did not disappoint.
Because the boys are absolutely lovable. The friends, the teammates, even the coach are fantastic and supportive. I have to highlight how much I laughed at Daniel’s, Eli’s, and Peter’s comments, because their one-liners and teasing were just brilliant.
And the Todd and Logan duo… awww 🤭🫠🤤 I think those three emojis say everything. Logan is typically the “he falls first” type, while Todd is the “he falls harder” character—and it fits their personalities perfectly.
At the same time, there’s Logan’s easygoing, funny, friendly, open nature, while Todd tries to shut out almost everything that isn’t hockey—rules that Logan happily breaks every single time.
Throughout the book, we get to follow the development of the boys’ love, as well as how Todd opens up first to Logan and then to their friends, how he learns to be himself and accepts the fact that he is neither worse nor less because he loves a boy.
There are plenty of spicy scenes in the book, some jealousy and possessiveness, but also lots of sweet moments, and a few tears 🥹
Another special highlight for me was seeing the mention of my favorite NHL team. It was such a surreal and emotional moment, because when I was searching for inspiration pictures for this story, I didn’t even know the team would appear—yet I instinctively searched for their players for the inspo images 🥹
There was only one thing I didn’t like—but it was important for Todd’s character development, and I don’t want to spoil it, so I’ll end this part here.
I received this book as an ARC, and this is my honest review.
Thank you, BookSirens, for the chance to review this ARC. This is my honest and unfiltered opinion.
THAT WAS AMAZING. This author is new to me but damn now I need more. It’s midnight, I have to be up early and I don’t even care because I had to finish this.
Slight spoilers ahead.
You’ve been warned.
Todd, poor sweet closeted terrified Todd. And Logan, out and proud and full of joy Logan. They played hockey together in high school and had an almost kiss but Todd freaked out and ran. Now years later they find themselves on the same college team.
And that flame of passion is still there. Todd is still trying to ignore and Logan is still mad that Todd ghosted him a few years ago. So he begins the process of poking at Todd, trying for a reaction. Trying to get under his skin. He does. Hell yes he does.
Then the floodgates open and these two men are passionate and the steam is way more steamy than the best sauna. It’s hot in here. I had to open a window. In Canada in winter. That’s how hot it was.
Anyway, hookups turn into more because of course. Except Todd is still living in the closet, at least where his dad is concerned. You can feel his fear of disappointing his dad and it’s heartbreaking.
Things explode and implode. Yes, these two boys get their HEA. They don’t get it until they are both torn apart and left hollow from it and you’ll feel that way too. Kit Jade makes you ache with them. It hurts and you want to cry and scream and ask why but you know it’s pointless so you feel empty. You feel like you’ve lost something huge. This author makes you feel dumped by the one person who gets you.
So as much as I loved this story, I don’t think I’ll ever reread it because that breakup was so damn painful. And that’s a compliment because my goodness the things this book made me feel.
This is Kit Jade’s third book, and having read and enjoyed all three, I can confidently say she’s now a favorite and an automatic must-read author for me. I absolutely love everything about the way she writes and how she brings her characters to life. This book had everything I love in a romance—steam, real heart, and a beautifully messy, emotional love story.
Todd and Logan’s story is a high-energy, emotionally rich hockey romance that blends heat, humor, and heartfelt growth into an addictive ride. Their connection is immediate and intense, shaped by contrast—Logan’s confidence and openness pushing against Todd’s fear and carefully guarded walls. As their relationship unfolds, the story explores self-acceptance, trust, and the courage it takes to live honestly, all while delivering plenty of passion, playful banter, jealousy, and moments of genuine vulnerability. The found-family vibe of the team adds warmth and levity, balancing the more vulnerable beats with sharp wit and moments that will have you smiling. It was emotional without being heavy, spicy without losing heart, and packed with strong friendships.
Bursting with unrelenting sexual tension and a romance that crackles with heat, this story is just as emotionally satisfying as it is sexy. If you love hockey players, m/m college romance, secret relationships, and couples who can’t get enough of each other, this one is an absolute must-read.

Shut Up and Play (Book 3 in the Full Contact series) is a charged, emotionally messy hockey romance that leans hard into tension, repression, and desire that refuses to stay quiet.
Todd Shaw is the captain—disciplined, respected, and deeply closeted. Logan Brooks is his former high school teammate, now out, proud, and newly transferred onto Todd’s college team. Their so-called rivalry looks like a power struggle on the ice, but off the ice it’s fueled by unresolved history, unspoken attraction, and a whole lot of denial.
The chemistry between Todd and Logan is immediate and electric. Their banter crackles, their confrontations blur the line between anger and want, and the secret relationship trope is handled with delicious intensity. The locker room tension, stolen moments, and constant fear of being discovered raise the stakes in a way that feels authentic to both characters—especially Todd, whose internal conflict is the emotional core of the story.
Where this book really shines is in its exploration of fear versus freedom. Logan’s openness contrasts sharply with Todd’s repression, creating a push-pull dynamic that’s equal parts frustrating and compelling. That said, Todd’s reluctance can occasionally feel repetitive, dragging certain emotional beats longer than necessary.
Still, the payoff is worth it. Shut Up and Play delivers high heat, raw emotion, and a romance that feels earned through struggle rather than convenience. A strong entry in the Full Contact series that hits hardest for readers who love angsty sports romance with real emotional stakes.
🏒🔥 This MM hockey, college-aged/new adult romance absolutely delivered for me. 💯 It was exactly what my soul needed after watching Heated Rivalry enough times that I can now anticipate the actors’ next lines. 😅
In this story, two young men who had an awkward encounter as teens find themselves reunited on the same college hockey team. This book is part of a series set at the same college, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. As with previous books in the series, homophobia is addressed head-on—both internalized and external—alongside the usual angst that comes with not-quite-adults trying to figure themselves out. Mistakes are made, emotions run high, and the angst is strong. 😮💨
The chemistry between the two MCs is off the charts, and the spice is extra. 🌶️ As in, I had to take my winter coat off on the subway because the heat was rising—true story. 🥵 I loved both MCs so much. The characters are well-crafted, distinct, and deeply human. No one is perfect (just like real life), but I adored them anyway. ❤️
Please note: I did receive this advanced copy ahead of publication. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review and truly appreciate the opportunity provided by the author to read and review this book.
If you’re craving any of these tropes, this one will slap in all the right ways 👏👇

Shut Up and Play by Kit Jade completely stole my heart. It’s playful, flirty, and unexpectedly soft in all the right places. The chemistry sparks instantly, but it’s the quiet moments the vulnerability, the longing, the way feelings sneak up that made me melt. Short, sweet, and full of heart 💖📖
Logan Brooks. Holy. Shit. He looks…different. Older. Broader. Hotter in a way that makes my stomach drop. His hair’s shorter than I remember, and he’s filled out since high school. He’s all smooth muscle and confidence wrapped in a plain black T-shirt that clings to him in all the right places, as though he doesn’t even have to try.
“I’ll get there,” I say quietly. “Maybe not soon. But I will.” He nods once, eyes closing like he’s trying to believe it. Then he rolls to his side and shifts closer, resting his forehead against my temple. “You better. Because hiding you feels like hiding the best part of my life. I can’t hide the fact that I’m head over heels in love with you, and every part of me wants to love you out loud for the whole world to see.”

Todd is the Captain of his college hockey team. He can’t break, but he also can’t show who he really is. But when the team is back from summer break, his resolve is about to break as well. His high school crush that also almost ruined him, comes through the locker room door. Logan, a transfer from another college. How will this play out? Will he be able to keep his feeling for him under control? Will they be able to play on the same team together and not have any issues?
This was a good addition to this series. Each book feature different college students, so they could be read as stand alone books. But, you do see other characters in each of the books as you move forward. I think if you read them in order, you will get a deeper and richer world and character build. I liked what Todd and Logan each bring to the table in this storyline. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see who the next one is about.
I freaking love this series so much. This was such a fun read. I had the best time laughing out loud and then melting from the heat reading Todd and Logan's story. It's just the kind of lighthearted MM romance while still having some emotional angst and tender moments without being too heavy on the drama.
I loved their flirty and sexy chatting, I was melting all over the place. The spice was definitely amplified with Logan and Todd in this book, I'm talking scorching hot. I really enjoyed how their story developed and had me rooting for their HEA. It takes a lot of courage to live authentically.

Kit Jade creates some really fun amazing characters that are easy to get invested in their stories. I've really enjoyed this series and can't wait for the next one!
Thank you BookSirens and Kit Jade for the opportunity to read this book.
The absolute chokehold this series has me in is insane!!
1st person POV Dual Plot 4.5/5 Spice 3.75/5🔥 Emotions 3.5/5 Pining 3.75/5 Enemies to Lovers - ish Lust disguised as hate Secret relationship Third act break up Supportive friends group HEA
Todd is so deep in the closet that I'm surprised he didn't discover Narnia, that is all well and good until the day Logan joins the hockey team! Logan the guy that was Todds gay awakening and caused Todd to freak out on a epic level. Now Logan is here and he is making Todd his mission in life!
This series really just keeps getting better and better! The writing the amazing! The story is captivating and the spice in this book is fan yourself with whatever you have near hot! This book that you through it emotionally too, as third act break up always get me, but damn the ending it was super sweet!
I cannot wait for what this author come up with next!!
My heart needs to recover now. This mixture of incredibly sweet, hot as hell, and heartbreak was just too much. In the best way possible. Logan is my favorite in the series, I have to admit, even though I can't really pinpoint why, because they're all really great. I also really loved Eli, who was so beautifully in the background. The character development isn't easy, and that's where the heartbreak comes from, but it's all the more authentic when you consider what Todd has had to go through in his life so far. It leaves a deep wound when you feel abandoned by one or even both parents. I mean, just remembering the sound of shoes says a lot. But I'm getting lost in details. Which is also a big plus for the story, because it's not shallow or just a series of scenes thrown together, but peppered with so much life that I thought I could reach out and touch it.
Lots of love for this series and Logan—baby—thank you!
Kit Jade's Shut Up and Play (Full Contact Book #3) was a fantastic read! Former team mates who shared an almost moment in high school are reunited in college. Closeted captain Todd has repressed his true self for a myriad of reasons and after weeks of flirting and running drills things are getting steamy. Logan is a transfer student and has been secure in the love of his family for years. He is enjoying getting under Todd's skin. When an anonymous hook up brings them together what was supposed to be a simple one and done isn't possible and turns messy but oh so good. As they go from lust to love they find that not everyone is as excepting of their relationship as they would like. When a picture of them is leaked on the internet will they make it when the dust settles? I like how messy and real Kits stories and situations are. The spicy encounters are very enjoyable and inspiring. I received and advanced review copy via Book sirens for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily
I absolutely loved Logan and Todd. Like the chemistry is 100 all there. Todd being the captain of the Hockey team is in the closet and not close to coming out. But then his Rival/ who he used to play with in high-school walks in with his cocky self, who can ruin it all for Todd is now on his team. The tension is there and Todd doesn’t know what to do. Jordan wants Todd and will stop at nothing to get Todd. When I tell you the spice was spicing, it had me giggling and kicking my feet like a little girl. I devoured this book in one sitting.
I loved how Jordan was there for Todd when Todd needed him. And the “Good Boy” had me fanning my face.
Kit Jade can write an amazing MM romance and make you wish you are sitting front row for everything you are reading.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I read this book while the Heated Rivalry TV show ended its first season and couldn’t help but think of all the comments associated with it: queer joy, the toxic side of men’s sports, acceptance, and fear. As for this book, I felt the toxic masculinity, the fragility and the love exuded by the characters, their fear, and the shift to acceptance by those close to the MMCs. It was all written in such a wonderfully beautiful way. I felt all the things as I read this book. While I loved the peppermint latte goalie (Eli), Logan became my favorite character of this series very quickly. He was unapologetically himself, and moved through the world with confidence while wearing his heart on his sleeve. Highly recommend!
MM 🌶️🌶️🌶️ College Hockey Old but new teammate and rival
Todd and Logan played together in high school. After a big game, Logan tried to kiss Todd and Todd almost let him but then pushed him away saying he didn’t like guys.
Fast forward a couple years, Logan has transferred to Todd’s team. They have instant chemistry, again. Except Todd still swears he doesn’t like guys. After a couple steamy shower scenes, Todd is sexually frustrated. So he gets on the gay hook up app and messages someone. They exchange messages and sexts all week and plan to meet on Friday. Friday rolls around and who opens the door? Logan. Again, this storyline has been played out so many times. Even the first book in the series…
This was a bit steamier than the previous two books. Looking forward to the next book. Luke and a coach.
Todd Shaw and Logan Brooks knew each other when they were at high school and Todd was the only guy who walked away from Logan. The moment Logan walked into the locker room you could feel the tension between Todd and Logan. Todd had a plan and it did not involve a boyfriend. But with Logan flirting and pushing Todd's buttons, it is not if but when would Todd crack. This was a page turner as I was drawn to the relationship between Logan and Todd, my mom instincts came in full force reading Todd's inner turmoil and I just wanted to wrap him up in a big hug. I went through various emotions reading this. Loved catching up with the rest of the team and how supportive they were with both Logan and Todd. I laughed at Eli being Eli and my mind went back to his story. I really enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to see who gets their story next.
Todd has problems. He knows he's into men but is afraid to come out knowing his father is less than accepting, his other problem just walked back into his life, the high-school teammate he almost kissed. He's now got to work with the one man he's not been able to keep out of his head, while hiding who he is. The temptation is great since Logan is out and proud. A dating app puts the two together unintentionally both hidden behind usernames. When they meet in person expecting, a one and done, something far more permanent starts. When trouble strikes both have to learn to be honest, to communicate, and to stand together. As good as the story is I would love to see more as either a sequel or an extended version that would continue after their college days.

Logan and Todd have history. There has been interesting chemistry in their interactions for a while. As teens it was awkward. As adults with Logan out and Todd closeted it is complicated in another way. It leads to a lot of behavior that at first seems antagonistic - hello foreplay - but is actually a lead up to them acting on what has been bubbling under the surface. Now, however, they are in college and teammates. And because of their mixed status, one out one not, they try to keep it on the downlow. They have much to work through on their way to their HEA and that made for a spicy, at times angsty, somewhat emotional and sometimes made me want to shake them read. I can't wait for the next story in the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Shut Up and Play is the third book in the Full Contact series and my third Kit Jade read and honestly? I am absolutely feral for this series at this point.
This one follows Todd and Logan: Todd, the closeted team captain who loves being Logan’s“good boy” and surrendering that control… and Logan, the out-and-proud transfer who is possessive in the best way and loves a good snuggle. The chemistry? Immediate. The tension? Delicious. The hookup app / anonymous messaging trope (one of my FAVORITES) was done so, so well.
There’s great banter, some really fantastic spice, and more than a few moments that had me getting teary-eyed 🥲. I loved the mix of vulnerability, heat, and heart.
Full Contact continues to be such a standout series for me and I already can’t wait for whatever comes next.
I love it, i don’t know how Kit Jade does it but each book just better and better.
This the story of Todd, in here We found out his very deep In the closet and everything gets complicated when Logan joins the team and is reminded of a past incident, but what will happens when the anonymous hookup brings them together? I love everything about this story, the push and pull, the chemistry, the banter, and the spicy scenes everything was perfect, but most of all I loved the characters how each were so different but at the same time so drawn to each other, the character development was so well done with Todd I was amazing. Overall I was hooked from the very beginning till the end, definitely a great addition to the series.
God, I love this series so much. I loved the first book, I loved the second book, and I love the third one. I read every single one on release day and finished them the same day.
This book, like the two before, is just perfect. In my opinion, you can already tell within the first few pages how good (or bad) a book is going to be. And let me tell you, it didn’t even take 10 pages for me to know I was hooked.
This book is definitely softer, and the love declaration came a little bit out of nowhere but it didn’t matter because I was already completely gone for these two.
I can’t wait for the next book and I really hope it’s coming very, very soon because I can’t wait for Luke’s story. Kit Jade, please never stop writing. 🫶🏼
This is a series that I'm loving more and more with each book. Logan was such a fantastic character and I loved his chemistry and dynamic with Todd. They had a lot of push/pull and angst throughout the book but also some really sweet moments as well. I enjoyed how they both developed as time went on and learned more about not only each other but themselves as well. As with the other books, the secondary characters in this world are great. I love the hockey boys, I love Luke's appearances, I love the banter and humour in the locker room. There were moments where I was laughing out loud but also deeply emotional ones where I was near tears for these two. I'm so glad they got their HEA and I can't wait to see who gets the next HEA.
What can I say; I love the vibe of the book. I love how Logan was set on having Todd falls in love with him. The public flirting. Trying his best to unravel him.
I love how Logan was vulnerable with Todd. How they knew from the first time, they will be more than a “one time”.
Logan was supportive, patient and so much in love!!
Todd was this little scary cat, the one you need time and patience to approach. And when he finally decided to go for what he really wants, it gave me butterflies.
Special Applause for the side characters: Daniel, Luke, Eli, Blue, Peter for calling out our boys on their BS. (BTW, can we get Daniel’s book?)
BREF, the yearning was there, the banter was there, the hockey was there, the super big news happy ending was there!
"Shut Up and Play" is Book 3 in the Full Contact series by Kit Jade. I am absolutely enjoying this series. Todd and Logan are great characters in their own right but I absolutely love all the characters in this series. The comradery, friendship, and hilarity flows from book to book. Todd has a bit of emotional baggage to unpack but Logan is there for it. There are moments that pull on your heartstrings but they are balanced by the loads of laugh out loud moments. I cannot wait for the next book. This author quickly became a must read author for me.

Ok, so sometimes you finish a book and you want to go back to the beginning and read it again immediately. This was that book for me. And from now on I need all my MCs to come with a side of clinginess like Logan does. I loooved him and his needy kisses.
I’ve read this author’s previous books and this one was my favourite. I now need a novella or 10 to keep up with this couple’s shenanigans after this book ended.
Loved both MCs and looking forward to the following books in the series but for now I’ll just enjoy the re-reads!

Each book in this series brings us something else, something more that just grips you and pulls you in. This is the story of Logan and Todd who have history going back to High School, Todd is in the closest fighting who he really is whereas Logan is out and proud. Kit jade has such away of bringing us a MM story where we see the instant chemistry between our two main characters and yet we get the angst that is building between them both.
This story brings the emotion and also in turn brings the reality that as each scene plays out you feel that you are there in the mix.

This was a beautiful read. When Todd finally accepted his feelings for Logan, he was adorable. The way he let go with Logan was truly beautiful to watch. My heart broke for him at several points in the story. There was a small little break up but I am glad it did not last. It was good to see them be able to stay together in the end, especially on the same team. I am kind of curious about Daniel and I hope to see a story for him the future.
Another great story by Kit Jade. This one had me in tears. Logan a perfect. He was willing to wait and fight for the man he loves. He was patient and gave Todd the time he needed to come to terms with their love and learn to love not only him but taught Todd how to love himself. I lives how Todd just could resist him and discovered how to be his true authentic self with Logan. I look forward to what comes next in the series.
Kit Jade is quickly becoming a new favourite author.
