Lexi only needed a paintbrush. What she got was a man.

When she scrubs clean an old, forgotten brush, it doesn’t just sparkle—it stirs.

Out steps once adored, too beautiful for his own good, until jealousy bound him in wood and bristles. Now he’s free in her hands, hungry to be touched, desperate to be loved, and determined to make Lexi his muse in every way.

Every stroke teases him closer to freedom. Every kiss blurs the line between art and obsession. And Lexi? She’s about to learn just how messy a masterpiece can get.

This little novelette is jam packed full of sinful delight. It’s a short read that will keep you turning the pages.

Lexi is attending art classes to win a holiday she desperately needs and, because she has forgotten her brushes at one lesson, finds an old paintbrush at the back of a drawer. Little does she know the adventure that awaits her by using THAT brush ……..

Fantastically written spicy read with an interesting plot and a really nice ending.

Filthy Strokes - Laura Victoria

I love sentient romances. I think they’re always so fun and exciting and even if your object is the same, no two authors, have the same writing style and write the subject differently. I have not read a sentient romance with a paintbrush before, and as someone who enjoys art and painting, I just had to read it. I really enjoyed Lexi and Roman. I really enjoy Lexi as a character, overall. She’s very down to earth and relatable with her dialogue and monologue about the situation with Roman and because of that it’s very funny and I laughed a lot. I highly recommend for those who love sentient romances or who want a short, but very spicy quick read. I would love to see this author write more sentient romances. I’m just very excited to see and to get my hands on this author’s next work.

This book was my first sentient object read, and it was absolutely amazing. It was chaotic, smutty, and has the ability to make your body tingle and your feet kick.
Lexi is a funny, somewhat relatable main character. She is clumsy, she talks to objects, and she is constantly running late. Who knew that running late to art class would lead you to finding a cursed, horny paintbrush?
Roman is a paintbrush. But he is a sexy paintbrush, omg, he will have you side eyeing every paintbrush you see from now on, wondering if perhaps, it is cursed and you get your own Roman. Roman is such a hot mmc, he’s got a slight attitude, he knows how to fulfil all of Lexi’s desires, he is an equal balance between dominant and sweet.
Filthy Strokes reads smoothly and is such a quick and easy read that will make you wanting more. Laura done an amazing job on this book and I can’t wait to read every single one of her books.

There's no shame in my reading game, I love a good unhinged, sentient object romance. I think these are some of the most creative books out there, I said what I said 😂. So today let me introduce you to Filthy Strokes by Laura Victoria and tell you about this 4 star read.

We have Lexi, an aspiring artist, who wakes up late for art class and winds up forgetting her brushes at home. She borrows some from the class and ends up painting beautifully and with grace. She pockets the brush because she feels connected with it. She ends up taking a bath with it and it maaaaaay turn into something.

Overall, I thought this was creative and I enjoyed how she brought the brush to life. It was different from how most of these go which I appreciated!

If you're looking to get you feet with one of these, I recommend this one!

Ahhhhhhh I loved this!

This was fast paced, but with an incredible flow to the short story.

Roman - his character felt like it not only moulded to what Lexi needed, but also maintained his own personality to boot.
Favourite quote "I'm not done with you yet"

Lexi - she's striving to be an artist in a gallery and win a competition. She not only achieved this but also landed Roman, the sentient paintbrush that moulded himself (physically and artistically 😉) to her needs.
Favourite moments - laughing to herself

Favourite short story of the year so far! ❣️

⭐ - 5/5
🌶️ - 5/5 - delicious and realistic
❤️ - 5/5 - HEA that leaves all the good tingles at the end of a book

Is it bad I wanna read it again already? 😅

This isn’t just romance, it’s sentient object romance and it is absolutely unhinged. Lexi finds a paintbrush, and instead of just…painting with it, she ends up in the horniest cursed-object situationship ever. The brush hums. The brush transforms. The brush has opinions. And then… boom 💥 Roman, the man trapped inside, shows up hotter than sin.

It’s filthy, it’s chaotic, it’s hilarious, and somehow it made me swoon??? 10/10 will never walk into an art store the same way again. 🎨🍆

Does anyone else feel the sudden need to sign up for an art class and look for vintage paintbrushes to buy? If you don't, then you haven't read this book yet.

Short, sweet, and oh so spicy, this novelette is a fun read. Everyone needs a Roman in their lives, so at least being able to experience him through this book is a good start.

Super cute novella if you’re looking for a really quick read. This is my first experience with the love interest being a sentient object, think Unhinged/Squeak/Stuffed, and while I’m not sure I’ll ever read the others I did throughly enjoy this one. If you’re game to find out how love works between a woman and a paintbrush then I 100% recommend this!!

This was honestly done very interesting! Especially being the fact the object in question is a paint brush. Short novella but packed a punch!
