She's got a plan. He doesn't fit into it.

Natalie Bennett is an expert problem solver. As the publicist for her pop-star sister, she's no stranger to handling even the most tenuous circumstances. She craves control and she'll be damned if you catch her making a mistake. When a PR crisis breaks out weeks before the biggest tour of her sister's career kicks off, Natalie has no room for error.

Things get complicated when Natalie’s team hires additional security and Jake Alder enters the picture. He’s broody and intimidating, and it turns out, he’s also her bodyguard for the tour. Despite trying to ignore his existence, Jake's creeping into Natalie's life and this new complication was definitely not part of her plan.

He's on the run from his past. She's going to make him face it head on.

Jake Alder has exactly one rule in his life: no connections, ever. Not to a job, not to a place, and definitely not to another person. Scarred by the mistakes of his past, Jake’s career as contract security keeps him on the road and away from home, too busy to form attachments that might lead him to get hurt again. His new contract with a high-profile tour is nothing out of the ordinary, just another in a long list of assignments that he’ll walk away from when it’s all said and done, no reason to look back.

But he didn't count on Natalie Bennett—controlling, uptight, and now his sole responsibility. He can't avoid her and it turns out, he doesn't want to.

When they're thrown together, the chemistry between them becomes undeniable. Before they know it, they’re sneaking around behind the scenes and hiding from everyone. Late nights are the new norm and things are starting to feel more than temporary. The threat of getting caught with his client is the least of Jake’s problems though when his day job crosses the wrong path and he ends up right in the middle of a scandal big enough to bring his world crashing down.

thank you so much to love notes pr and alexis graham for the chance to read this as an arc for feedback!! <3

i am honestly shocked this is a debut novel. and what an amazing debut novel it is!!
the writing felt confident, intentional, and polished in a way that immediately made me trust the story i was being told. alexis graham clearly knew exactly what she was doing here, and i will absolutely be keeping an eye out for whatever she writes next. if she’s not already on your radar, she should be!!

the chemistry between the two main characters was immediate and effortless, and i loved how naturally their connection developed. it never felt forced or rushed, just easy to fall into and even easier to root for. what really made this story stand out for me, though, was how much was happening beyond the romance. the divorce, tour, and pr storylines added depth and made the world feel full and lived in, rather than existing solely to support the love story.

the relationships across the board were a highlight. the sibling dynamics, the romantic relationships, and the emotional undercurrents all felt thoughtful and well developed. it was clear a lot of care went into making sure this book had a strong plot moving in the background, which elevated the entire reading experience.

toward the end, i did find myself wishing the stakes had hit just a bit harder. everything wrapped up fairly quickly, and while the potential consequences were clear, they felt lighter than i expected. it didn’t take away from my enjoyment, but i would have loved a little more tension before the conclusion.

overall, this was such an impressive debut and a genuinely fun, immersive read. while it didn’t completely blow the doors off for me by the end, it absolutely made me excited for what alexis graham does next.

ARC REVIEW: LOVE BLACKOUT 🕯️
I am still sitting in the quiet afterglow of this book. Honestly, some stories just feel like a deep breath, and Love Blackout was exactly that. It’s a slow burn that doesn't just simmer—it heals you as you read it.
A Journey of Healing
This isn’t just a romance; it’s a beautiful, raw exploration of emotional healing and learning how to trust again when the world has given you every reason not to. Natalie’s growth throughout the story felt so relatable and real—watching her peel back her layers and find her strength was such a privilege.
And can we talk about Jake? He is the definition of a "breath of fresh air." In a world of toxic heroes, Jake is refreshingly patient, emotionally mature, and so incredibly steady. He makes the relationship feel safe, which somehow makes the chemistry between him and Natalie feel even more electric.
Why This Book Stays With You
The Emotional Depth: Alexis Graham has this way of writing "soft angst" that just pulls at your heartstrings without hollowing you out. It’s comforting and rewarding.
Found Family: My "found family" loving heart was fed so well. The side characters add so much richness and warmth to the world.
The Slow Burn: It’s a patient burn. It builds on vulnerability and trust, making the payoff feel so much more earned.
The Verdict
If you want a character-driven romance that feels like a warm blanket on a cold night, you need to read this immediately. It’s heartfelt, it’s sincere, and it’s deeply moving. I absolutely ate this up.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐

3.5 — thank you to lovenotes pr for the arc ! i was really intrigued by the premise of the book– pr manager x bodyguard and it did indeed deliver 🙂‍↕️ the characters were very likeable and felt so real, it was a more character driven book imo. The only thing that fell flat for me was Natalie and Jake’s relationship, I wish there was more chemistry there 😭 but it was a fantastic debut for sure ! Can’t wait for book 2

I believe we can all find a piece of ourselves within Natalie. The perfectionist, the planner, the sister who wants the world for her siblings. Watching Natalie navigate a major career crisis while also breaking down the walls she hides behind is journey that will resonate.

And then there’s Jake. A complex, mysterious body guard that will have you on a roller coaster of emotions. But love him or hate him (temporarily, of course), he’s exactly what Natalie needs at exactly the right time.

Five stars over and over Alexis!

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the whole Security guard with Publicist vibes and being on tour!

There were so many emotions I was feeling reading this book. There were so many different real life experiences that even I could connect too, it sucked you and make you feel apart of the story.

I loved Jake’s and Natalie’s chemistry right off the bat, I felt it from the beginning. The instant connection. The way they meet 🤭 the clumsiness from Natalie I absolutely loved! I can honestly say, same girl 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Jake 🫠
Why is a slightly grumpy, broody, quiet security guard so hot 🥵 goodness! Just add another book boyfriend to the list 🙄 haha
The way he watches Natalie (which was literally his job but still 🤗) was so swoon worthy. The protectiveness, the obsession, the absolute patience this man has. The way he just absolutely fell head over heels for her. He has never let people in because of his past. He felt he was better keeping to himself but the way he only opened up to her. 🥺

Absolutely loved the relationship Nat had with her siblings. That kind of bond is something everyone looks for with family, it is so heartwarming.

Just loved everything about this story!
Plus it was quite spicyyyy 🌶️
There may be something involving a stairwell 🤭

5🌟/5

Omg this book was so amazing!
I loved every aspect of this story,
I was hooked from the beginning down to the very last page, the author writing was impeccable, the slow burn, the emotions and especially the tension between Jake and Natalie was so beautiful done and the fact that what they had was forbidden omg i genuinely couldn't but my kindle down. Like come on how can you not read a book with a pop star Pr who is a force of nature and a very grumpy bodyguard that can't stop thinking about her?! Natalie was amazing I loved her so so much, the inner battle that she had was so heartbreaking she always puts everything and everyone first I just wanted to hug her.
Jake was grumpy, quiet, broody and so damn HOT but what i enjoyed the most was The growth that he had in the book, that man fell head over heels for Natalie as he should be.
The relationship between Natalie, Melanie and Dex was so heartwarming, i enjoyed seeing them together both in happy and sad times they have an incredible bond.
The preview of the next book got me so invested already can't wait to read it I'm so excited.
If you're looking for a good book with the bodyguard trope Love Blackout is what you're needed trust me on that!

First Alexis Graham book and I'm hooked!!!

Grumpy body guard meets the tornado PR to a pop star....ummmmm yes please!!!

I love the trauma bond between Jake and Natalie! Even though it is different, I love that they both had it in common and were able to relate with one another because of it. The inner battle that Natalie constantly had with herself because she never allowed herself to be put first as well as her thinking the situation between her and jake was forbidden was chef's kiss!

There are so many people who probably can relate to Natalie even if they don't share the same trauma as her! Many of us have probably either not put ourselves first in every relationship we are ever in or there is a romance that you know should be forbidden either due to work or "bro code/girl code" comes into play.

Jakes growth in this book was amazing!!! Being that closed off and having that genuine connection with someone who just naturally breaks your walls without trying is what everyone strives for.

Alexis, thank you so much for allowing me to be an arc reader!! I can't wait to read book 2!

Review of ARC, received by Love notes PR - thank you.

Love Blackout is a heartfelt, slow-burn romance that focuses on the character’s emotional healing, vulnerability, and learning to trust love again. The FMC; Natalie’s growth feels raw and relatable, and the MMC; Jake is a refreshingly patient, emotionally mature love interest who makes the relationship feel safe and real. I really enjoyed the character-driven romance with found family, soft angst, and meaningful emotional depth, this book is a comforting and rewarding read.

I was so honored to get this one as an ARC! I always love a bodyguard trope. But, this story not only played into my favorite trope, it also looked at some deeper issues including isolation, trauma, and self worth. I really appreciated following the stories of the FMC and MMC. And to top it all off having the preview of the next book???? Sign me up!
