A FATE IN FLAMES

Rate this book
She was sent to kill him.

Bound by a bargain sealed before her birth, Elira crosses the Veil between realms with a single purpose.
Retrieve the relic, kill the Jinn King, and escape before fate claims its price. But nothing could have prepared her for Dalkhan.
He is no myth. He is wrath wrapped in flesh, a King carved from fire and shadow, with a voice that bends wills and a gaze that strips her bare.
What begins as a mission turns into a dangerous unravelling. As enemies close in, desire coils between them—dark, intoxicating, impossible to resist. Every touch is a risk. Every kiss a betrayal. And surrender... might just mean falling for the very monster she was sent to destroy.

Perfect for fans of dark fantasy romance, A Fate in Flames is a tale of forbidden desire, dangerous bargains, and a passion that burns hotter than fire. Spice enough to make you check over your shoulder while reading.

4.5! THIS RIGHT HERE! I was immediately drawn into this book! I’m a sucker for the atmosphere that dark fantasy brings in general and then you add a Seer to the mix, I’m done for. I loved everything about this book. The story, the tone, the smut, the adventure and wonder how this was going to unfold and then that psychological twist towards the end was chefs kiss! Can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you to N.D. Osman for reaching out and offering an advanced copy in exchange for a review! I love supporting indie authors and this book drew me in from just the first few sentences of the synopsis. All opinions are my own and trust me, you’re going to want to pick this one up. Like now.

When Elira finds out she is a part of a bargain that her mother made before she was even born, she begins her journey to cross the Veil. It’s here she will retrieve the stone, kill the Jinn king, and save herself before getting caught. Seems straightforward enough until she meets the king. Dalkhan is otherworldly in power and strength and Elira feels her very soul reaching out to him. Every moment between them feels like a game until it isn’t. Until the cravings for each other are so intense it blurs the life that Elira came from. Will she be able to fight through the attraction to fulfil the bargain?

First off, this was phenomenal. Truly a breath of fresh air in the dark romantasy world. And an actual slow burn romance. Still a little quick for me but it did work with the story and that tension was getting thick!
The absolute beauty of Osman’s imagery in her setting and world building was breathtaking. I truly felt like I was right alongside Elira as she made her way through the halls and the grounds and the markets. I swear at some points I could even smell the aromas being described which is honestly wild and maybe I should get that checked but this whole story was a mesmerizing experience.
I loved all our characters. Dalkhan and his absolute obsession for all things Elira. Theo with his irresistible charm and ability to make the most inappropriate comments at any time. Tavrik with his knowledge and background, literally sobbed hearing his backstory. Mira and the way she became the friend that Elira so desperately needed.
But by far Elira was my favourite. Headstrong and sassy, not being afraid to go after what she wanted. She was also relatable, her homesickness and desire to give up. It happens to all of us and it just really made me resonate with her.
And y’all are not ready for the absolute filth that is the spice in this book. Like the synopsis said, it will have you looking over your shoulder because WOW.

Overall, the story was truly a masterpiece. It flowed fantastically, there was emotional moments and funny ones, and enough little twists to have you gripping the edge of your seat hoping things are not actually as they seem. But a warning, she ends on a cliffhanger and it’s a big one. Soooo read it so that y’all can suffer with me while we wait for book 2.

(ARC REVIEW)

Where do I even begin?!

First off... INFINITY STAR READ! 💫For the simple fact that I have not been able to stop thinking about it!This book is like nothing I’ve ever read before it's so different, so refreshing, and honestly, soo addictive. I couldn’t put it down for a single second. Everything about it was pure perfection. The banter? Top-tier. The spice? SPICAAAYYY🥵 The plot? Oh, it was PLOTTING. And that twist?! My lord, I was twisted into a full-on pretzel by the end of it. 😂

But let’s talk about the world-building for a second it was phenomenal. Every detail was so vivid and beautifully written that it felt like I was right there in the story, living and breathing alongside the characters. The atmosphere, the emotions, the tension 😩 it all just pulled me in completely.

The character development was also chef’s kiss. Daddy Dalkhan has officially claimed the title of my number one book boyfriend (and I don’t see anyone topping him anytime soon 👀). Elira, the FMC, was so relatable and refreshingly real. I adored her. And Theo? Don’t even get me started. I knew from the very beginning that he was going to be fabulous, and he absolutely delivered.

The banter had me kicking my feet and laughing out loud, never once a dull moment. Everything about this story felt so alive, so unique, and just so brilliantly done. No words will ever do it justice. I haven’t managed to go a single moment since finishing it without thinking about it.

The only downside? Now I have to wait for Book 2 😫

I could've said soo much more but didn't want to give anything away. I will DEFINITELY be back for a more detailed review once the book is out.

ARC Review 🔥🖤

First of all, a huge thank you to N.D. Osman for sending me a physical ARC and having me on her ARC team. I’m beyond grateful to be part of your journey! I’ve been following ever since you popped up on my TikTok FYP, and it feels so surreal to be holding your book in my hands before the rest of the world gets to read it.

Before I even opened this book, I was already obsessed. I felt like I knew the characters, I already had such love and appreciation for everything I’d seen online, and my expectations were exceptionally high. And you know what? This book exceeded them. It was like finally getting to see behind someone’s walls, meeting the real them after only knowing them on a surface level. (If that makes sense 😅)

And the dedication has got to be one of the best dedications I have seen, let's just give it the appreciation it deserves:

"To those who believe a prince will do—
Get on your knees. Your king has arrived."

The absolute grip this book had on me was unreal. The tension, the suspense, it starts so early on and does NOT let go.

Elira, our FMC, is bound by a bargain made before she was even born. To fulfill it, she must cross the veil into the Jinn realm, find a relic, and use it to kill the Jinn King. She’s not prepared for any of it, especially not Dalkhan. 👀

Just to show how good this book is, I had read the description prior, I’d devoured every crumb N.D Osman had teased on tiktok and yet when the story unfolded, I still gasped. I was so immersed that the real world dissolved. She’s going to the Jinn realm? She’s to kill the Jinn King? WHAT?? Who would have thought. 🤔🙈

The world was immersive, and every character had such presence. Theo and Elira’s relationship was absolute perfection. Chaotic in the best way. Their banter was Unmatched. And then Tavrik enters and fits in like an extra limb they didn’t even know they were missing.

Some of my favourite lines:

“Men.” “So easy to distract.”

“Exactly. He’s too nice. I’d destroy him like a storm hitting a village.”

“You love me, don’t you? Admit it.” “Like I'd love a headache.”

Elira’s emotional journey was raw and beautiful. I felt her inner turmoil, her heartbreak, her moments of joy, I loved being inside her head.

And then there’s Dalkhan. I don’t even have words. He’s giving Khal Drogo meets Kingfisher and I didn’t know I needed that but oh, I did. He’s a Jinn of few words, but you’ll cling to every syllable like it's lore. He sent me straight into the Jinn realm. 🧎‍♀️🔥

Some more of my favourite lines:

"Good girl" I buckled as his voice slid into my mind like molten silk".

“I was an open book, and he was reading every page.”

“I will burn the world for you, Elira. Every realm, every throne, every soul that dares to cause you pain.”

NOTE: There were many things I highlighted but I do have to let you experience some of them for yourself! 😉🔥

By now, y’all know I love an animal companion, and Azmik 🖤🔥🐍 is a fiery one.

Every character stood out, the worldbuilding was lush, and the writing was so immersive. The short, punchy chapters made every scene impactful, no filler, just story. The spice was perfectly balanced. The plot was in fact plotting.

It’s crazy now rewatching N.D Osman’s TikToks knowing which scenes belong where, it makes the whole experience feel even more special. Though honestly I’m already yearning for book two 👀🙏🏻

This book was everything.

If you love fantasy, tension, bargains and 🌶spiiice you need to read this.

What to Expect:
✨ Jinn MMC x Mortal FMC
✨ Bargains
✨ Banter
✨ Spice
✨ Tension
✨ Desire
✨ Betrayal
✨ Possessive MMC

4.75 ⭐️ Thank you so much N.D Osman for gifting me a copy of this book! This was so captivating and deserves so much success! The world building in this book is amazing, the writing really immerses you in the story every detail was so vivid I was able to imagine everything. I feel like it’s so hard to find a romantasy that doesn’t overwhelm you the first 100 pages with world building and lore drop and I was so excited i was able to immediately get roped into the story. This pulled me out of a slump I did not want to put it down! I absolutely love Elira and loved reading her journey. The cliffhanger killed me how am I supposed to wait for book 2 omfg !!!

🔥 Dark, addictive, and emotionally charged 🔥

A Fate in Flames completely blew me away. From the first chapter, I was hooked by the tension — that delicious mix of danger, desire, and destiny that keeps you turning pages at 2 a.m. The chemistry between the main characters is electric — the jealousy, the possessiveness, the emotional push-and-pull had my heart racing the entire time.

If you love morally grey love interests, and a story that makes you feel every emotion from rage to heartbreak to absolute obsession — A Fate in Flames is a must-read. I honestly haven’t felt this level of tension and emotional payoff since Once Upon a Demon’s Heart and Ashes of Chaos.

I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time

I received an advanced reader copy of A Fate in Flames in exchange for an honest review, and from the first chapter, I knew this story was something special.

From the very first page, I was hooked. The worldbuilding is vivid, rich, and atmospheric. I could practically see the market stalls, feel the desert heat, and smell the forest air. It’s rare to find a romantasy setting that feels this immersive without getting bogged down in info-dumping, but this one nails it.

The characters are unforgettable. Elira is the perfect FMC: strong, clever, and layered. The supporting cast adds so much warmth and depth, with dynamics that feel lived-in and real.

And then there’s Dalkhan... Daddy Dalkhan, to be exact. The chemistry between him and Elira is absolutely delicious, the kind of push and pull that makes your heart race. He’s officially claimed his spot as my new favourite book boyfriend 👀

The journey at the heart of this story adds so much depth and momentum. Each step pulls the characters deeper into a web of fate and power they can’t easily escape. The way the plot builds toward the ultimate betrayal is masterful. It’s tense, unpredictable, and beautifully paced, with each reveal hitting harder than the last. Watching it all unfold was the kind of reading experience that has you gasping, screaming, crying, and sitting there in absolute shock — completely wrecked in the best way.

The pacing is tight, the tension is addictive, and the romance blends seamlessly with the fantasy elements. It has everything I love in a romantasy:

🖤 Enemies to lovers to ...
🖤 Forced proximity
🖤 Magical being x Mortal
🌶️🌶️ Spice

This book gave me that “I can’t put it down, but I don’t want it to end” feeling, which is my favourite kind of reading experience. If you love immersive worlds, high-stakes magic, and a romance that hits you right in the chest, A Fate in Flames deserves a spot at the top of your TBR.

And finally, a personal thank you to N.D. Osman for trusting me with this story and letting me be part of this journey from the beginning. Your support and encouragement outside of the book itself have meant a lot to me, and it’s been so special watching this world come to life through your words. Getting to know you beyond the page has been a genuine highlight of this whole experience.

I can't wait to see where fate takes me next..

I CANT BREATHE!

What did I just devour? I’m sitting here craving, begging needing more of that damned infuriating SOB! That ending I wasn’t expecting. The feelings it made me feel the jealousy the longing the fear! Clap, Clap,Clap to the Author cause wow I need book 2 now.
I came back to edit my review cause I just needed to truly express the magnitude of appreciation that this book, this world, these characters have on me.
The world N.D Osman created was so well written I was feeling the heat of the sun and the sweat on my own spine and wanted to dance so bad to tribal drums like my soul needed a pause.
Elira and Theos relationship seeing a male best friend and the safety and teasing dynamics made me crave something I never knew I was missing and when you add Tavrik it’s the perfect trio! And the scenes with Azmik were epic I loved that charming snake.
But the jealousy I felt!!! There were characters I wanted to dive in a cut and I’m scared of what will happen in book 2 the ending I did not expect and I’m shaking, longing begging and praying for my heart to be twisting and shattered and rebuilt so much better after some soul crushing pain. I did not expect this book to take my soul but she did!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book CONSUMED me!!

I have never read a book this fast in my life. A Fate in Flames grabbed me by the throat from page one and absolutely refused to let go. I was consumed. Fully feral. Completely unreachable to the outside world until I hit that final page.

This is one of those rare books that makes you forget you’re reading. The world-building is rich and vivid, the tension is immaculate, and the plot keeps twisting in ways you don’t see coming. Every time I thought I had something figured out… I didn’t. And I loved every second of it.

But the characters? THE CHARACTERS.
I fell in love with every single one of them. Their relationships, their banter, their chemistry, their flaws… it all felt so real and so beautifully done. I was laughing, kicking my feet, sweating, and holding my breath all at once. The found family vibes? The enemies-to-lovers tension? The way every interaction adds another layer? Pure perfection.

I was either smiling like an idiot or gripping my Kindle for dear life.

If you want a story that devours you whole, makes you feel everything, and refuses to be put down then this is it.
Run. Read it.

I will be patiently waiting for book 2 because that ENDING!?!? What do you mean..

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and an extra ⭐️for the final page !

🔥 SPICY. 🖤 OBSESSED. 📖 ADDICTIVE

Elira’s journey into the realm of the Jinn is like being thrown into a fire—and loving every second of it. The tension? Unholy. The banter? Top tier - take a bow Theo and Tavrik. The ending - I’m totally throwing a tantrum … I need another chapter! My anxiety started creeping in as the ending crept closer.

The tension between the Elira and the King 🥵 that spice, whoa, she was pretty damn hot. I was sweating through half the book.

As much as I loved the steam, the book also had the perfect blend of humor thanks to Theo and Tavrik - the chaotic bromance duo who I totally fell in love with.

Overall, this book had exactly what I needed. It didn’t hurt my brain trying to understand a complex world, it had loveable and funny friendships, great tension, and spice. I was hooked from the start, awake till all hours, and I can’t wait for the next book.

I absolutely devoured this book! The FMC was a strong woman who just wanted to protect the ones she loves, but somehow got caught in a gods war. The MMC is my new book boyfriend. I’m obsessed with both of them. THAT ENDING?! I was not ready for that. I need book 2 like now.

6 ⭐️ If someone was to ask what my favourite type of book to read is: it would be this!

The spice is deliciously well written . Completely in its own league. Absolutely OBSESSED with the plot line, characters and setting. The pacing is perfect, it was SO hard to put this down that I devoured it in a day!

The ending of the book had me on my knees ( I am unwell) it was absolutely everything. I cannot recommend it enough! I am sooo excited for book 2 to see what happens next 👏🏻

This book, I loved it and I am so happy that it will be one of my last books for 2025. (Well, I still have nine days, so there maybe a fee more)
First of all, the great stuff.
A more mature FMC(she is 25)
She is not annoying. Still sassy but not brittle or bitter
Her friends are all awesome(Theo, I am looking at you)
The MMC is dark, sexy and moving on up into my top 5 book boyfriends
The plot is there, and the worldbuilding is good.
The spice is bloody hot and perfect.
The baddy was easy to pick and see coming, but it's still worth reading about
The ending was brilliant, I loved it so much better than I thought.
This book is all I am always searching for in a book, one that doesn't have me wanting to throw it and DNF it because I can't stand the characters. Do I wish she had I spoken to the MMC about what she was there to do but hey I understand why she didn't.
The only down side is how long I will have to wait until book 2.

I have never flown through a book this fast. A Fate in Flames had me by the throat from the very first page and refused to loosen its grip. I was done for. Feral. Emotionally unavailable to the real world until I hit the last line.

This book didn’t just pull me in — it swallowed me whole. The world-building? Gorgeous. The tension? Elite. The plot twists? I was humbled every single time. I’d think, “Okay, I know where this is going,” and the book laughed in my face. And honestly? Obsessed.

But the characters…
THE CHARACTERS.
I fell in love with every single one of them. The banter, the chemistry, the messy humanity, the way their relationships unfold — it all felt so natural and so addictive. One minute I’m kicking my feet, the next I’m sweating, then I’m holding my breath like I’m in the damn scene. The found family vibes? The enemies-to-lovers tension? Perfection.

I spent half the book smiling like an idiot and the other half clutching my Kindle for dear life.

If you want a story that grabs you, ruins your plans, and refuses to be put down — this is your sign.
Go read it.

And now I’ll be sitting here, totally normal, patiently (not at all) waiting for book 2 because THAT ENDING?!? I’m unwell.

A quest to kill the jinn king

Plot 4/5
Spice 3/5
Found family 5/5
Relationship building 2/5

Wow.. this was really good. This book pulls you in and the world building and plot was done very well. I really liked this book.

I wish there was more relationship building between Elira and Dalkhan. He was possessive in the beginning but his courtesans still fawned all over him. Elira was drawn to his aura and looks but they never really build a relationship. It’s more of like anger and attraction and they just start hooking up. For me I wanted more. Especially with everything that’s supposed to be at risk. It would be silly for Elira to risk it all for a fling.

The found family she had in Taverack and Theo was sweet. She had friends who put her before everyone else. The banter was great. The calming, steady, and comforting personality of Taverack. Theo always knew how to make her laugh and break the tension in the worst moments. I loved that they were male friends who weren’t trying to sleep with her. They were just friends.

There were a handful of spicy scenes. But it didn’t overtake the book or plot which I actually liked. Some books when there is too much spice you lose the plot or focus of the book. This was not the case. I enjoyed that.

The world building and that bomb cliffhanger of a cliffhanger was crazy at the end! I loved the ending and I’m definitely interested in book 2

I’m sorry….. WHAT?!? This book is my first ♾️ star read of the year 🌟🌟🌟 I’m always cautious of books being over hyped but I was very hopeful quietly on the inside hoping it would live up because WOW that plot! Those characters! 🥵 AND…………. Babe did not disappoint!!! This book ABSOLUTELY delivers! I ate every word!

All I’m going to say is, this book has me hooked for more - the building, tension, plot and characters - the twists and writing absolutely slaps! BUT…. That ending…… OMG I think I may have actually blushed

So excited for the next instalment - no gatekeeping here - ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND 🫶🌟🫶🥵🥵

3.75 stars!

There was so much about this book that I absolutely loved.
The tension was sooo good!

Dalkhan is 🔥🥵🔥🥵
Some scenes were executed perfectly, like the fighting in the pits was super cool!

I did have a few issues with the pacing at times… which unfortunately dropped the rating a bit for me.

Theo was a great funny side character, but I’m not sure that he was executed to his full potential either.

The ending of the book was fantastic though. I really enjoyed the last 10%, and the plot twist / cliffhanger at the end was great!

Also extra points for the final page or two. Very nice touch.
I will absolutely be reading the second book.

Elira was born when a bargain was made, and when the bargain was called in, Elira was sent to the realm of the Jinn to destroy a man who threatened the mortal realm. The man she was sent to destroy wasn’t just any Jinn, however, he was the King, Dalkhan. What follows is a story of love, betrayal, and endurance. I absolutely loved the dynamic between Elira and her friends Theo and Tavrik it had me laughing out loud at times. The side characters are also great and give something to the story, I honestly can’t wait to see where this story goes in the sequel. It was fun, dark, spicey and fast paced. Personally I found it a little predictable in parts but I absolutely loved it and devoured it!

Dnf 👎🏼I’m sorry… 160 pages in and the plot is non existent. Kill the enemy. Any other advice? No, Awesome. There is zero context to this mission once we step beyond the veil. Our FMC is thrown into this realm with no direction/ purpose, zero planning on how to proceed, and absolutely no means of maturity. We are told she’s 25, but she behaves like a raging 12 year old. “I don’t want to be here. I want to go home. I hate him.” Nope, I can’t tolerate that for an entire book.

I was intrigued months ago from TikTok fan art and I’m incredibly sad to say that I was severely let down.
