For me, this is not B Sobjakken’s best work. Despite the Mommy kink, which is definitely not for me, it was so rushed. I know I usually complain things drag out for too long, but the story was complicated and I felt like we missed all of the details.
Natalie Dansworth (25, trophy wife) was “encouraged” by her abusive father to marry for money, so she did just that. She never expected her hubby to be on his deathbed after three short years together. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t stand to inherit much when he dies.
Henry Dansworth (32-ish, mechanic) has been estranged from his dad for three years. When he shows up at his family home he discovers that it might be too late to reconcile. He’s always hated that his dad married a gold digger, but that doesn’t stop him from hate fucking her against the wall during his visit.
Natalie ends up pregnant, she comes up with a scheme so her and Henry can get the dollars, they spend the rest of the book fucking and growing a baby, and then the birth scene followed by an HEA.
SEX: Damn, there’s a lot of it. Their first time is at 13% and they basically fuck nonstop for the rest of the book. While I’m not complaining about it, I’d rather it focused on quality over quantity. Of course there are no condoms used. Yay. Also, Henry isn’t a hoe, so there aren’t any other women to be jealous of. Oh! There’s a bit of a lactation kink at the end and I was here for that! There’s also butt sex! Yay.
KINK: The Mommy kink is pretty strong. Even though it doesn’t do a damn thing for me, I know others will enjoy it. I didn’t judge this book based on the kink simply because I don’t have enough experience to say if it’s good or not.
STORY: There’s a backstory with Henry being part of an MC, and there were so few details given that it was messy and confusing. The main focus is them having sex through each trimester. There didn’t seem to be much relationship building, just sex. There’s really not a lot of depth to the characters. I will say that Natalie is actually intelligent and not an airhead.
Overall, it’s just ok for me.

To think I almost passed on this! The whole Mommy trope is not my thing - but this one is Mommy with a twist! The two main characters are actually really close in age, so when she refers to herself as Mommy it's not meant as his mommy necessarily....kind of hard to explain but definitely hit different than the reverse age gap Mommy trope. And this book - as all of B's books are - was HOT!!! The dirty talk, chemistry and exchanges between Natalie and Henry were 🥵

I loveeee everything B Sobjakken writes. Deplorable Schemes is definitely another one that I can add to the favorite pile! This story had me swooning, blushing, and fanning my face! B always delivers on the spice and you best believe it delivered here. I had so much fun reading this one. This novella is fast paced, packed with heat, and mommy filled.

I’m a big fan of B. Sobjakken, and I always look forward to her releases because she’s one of those authors who isn’t afraid to explore different tropes and kinks. She writes such a wide range of stories that there’s truly something for everyone, and I really admire that about her.
This was actually my first “mommy kink” book, and I must say that particular kink isn’t really for me. That said, it wasn’t extremely heavy or over-the-top, so I mostly just ignored that aspect and focused on the rest of the story.
The premise itself was really interesting and kept me engaged all throughout. I especially liked the accidental breeding element and the mild lactation kink that was woven into the story. It definitely made for a spicy read with plenty of taboo moments.
Nathalie was probably my favorite part of the book. I really appreciated that she never tried to pretend her relationship was something it wasn’t. She was honest about being in it for the money, and I actually respected that transparency. She’s sharp, confident, and clearly has her head on her shoulders.
Henry, on the other hand, didn’t quite work for me. Something was missing. The whole motorcycle club background felt a bit odd in combination with the billionaire-family business angle. I also struggled a little with the idea that the board of his father’s multi-billion-dollar company would be fine with him stepping in as interim CEO when he doesn’t even have a formal education. And the resolution of him leaving the club felt a bit flat to me and not too realistic.
I also think the book could have benefited from being a bit longer, it's way too short. It felt somewhat rushed in places, and I would have liked more time to connect with the characters.
Even though the mommy kink isn’t my personal thing, I can see that it wasn’t overdone and will definitely appeal to readers who enjoy that dynamic. Overall, while this one wasn’t entirely my cup of tea, it was still a fun, spicy read, and I’m always excited to see what Brooke writes next.

Our MMC, Henry, is a disowned rebel that ends up willing to do anything for his Mommy and his dream of owning his own shop. Our FMC, Natalie, is a grieving widow that is worried about her future and the future of her surprise bundle, and she's willing to do what it takes to get what she and Henry need and want - her late husband's inheritance. The MCs are secretly sweethearts that are battling their thoughts on who the other is and their own pasts, which leads to a lot love-to-hate banter that makes this a fun, angsty, and extra steamy read but there are very sweet moments once the sparks settle.
This is a standalone like the rest of the series. I haven't found anything directly linking each of the Immoral Starts novellas to each other. I highly recommend the whole series whether it's in order or not, especially if you're looking for something quick and spicy with a forbidden element. 😊

As always, we've been given more fun time reads from my favorite author. I'm going to try not to give too much away but at the risk of potentially ruining this for someone - there may be spoilers, depending on what you classify as a spoiler (coming from a spoiler lover). 🤪

When I want to read short stories with an ample amount of spice in between my normal book reading, this author is usually my initial pick. Eighth book in the series, and she still gets me jaw-dropping and amazes me with her taboo novellas. This book never disappoints in delivering them.
Even though eros is the most overt aspect in the book, Deplorable Schemes has a straightforward plot with strong emotional resonance, incisive chemistry, and appealing characters.
The story centres on Natalie, a young widow, and Henry, the son of her late husband, who, upon the passing of the family patriarch, form an arrangement that will benefit them both.
It's forbidden, taboo, extremely hot, and intricate. Given some kinks that are outside of the comfort zone, this novel might not be to everyone's preference. Therefore, before diving in, it is essential to check for triggers. But if you enjoy Sobjakken's work, get ready for an exhilarating ride.

First things first: the book is clearly advertised as mommy kink, so docking stars for that would be unfair. You’ve been warned going in.
This was my first mommy kink book, and to be honest, no, it’s not really my thing. But this is B. Sobjakken, so of course I read it.
I was completely sold by the blurb and had been anxiously waiting for this book ever since I first saw it. The premise was super interesting, and I was so intrigued. The accidental breeding twist was chef’s kiss. I absolutely love accidental breeding, especially when the characters are supposed to hate each other, so that part was right up my alley. The mild lactation kink added some extra spice that I loved so much. The book did feel a bit short though, I wouldn’t have minded reading a much longer story.
Even if mommy kink isn’t my thing, I still had so much fun with it. And honestly, Ms. Brooke is an auto-read for me at this point. I love how adventurous she is and how she writes across so many tropes and kinks. There’s truly something for everyone in her backlist!
Sooo… bravo, and I’m already looking forward to whatever she releases next!!!

This was my first “mommy” kink book and it’s safe to say, that is not for me. If it’s something you do enjoy, this book is 100% for you and I love that for you.
The story itself was okay. Young girl marries old man, man dies and she gets the fortune. It’s stereotypical until you learn COD (which was unique) and got to more of the plot points following his death. The FMC was irritating in the sense, she is a bit spineless and an opportunist. After getting more detail about her background, I downgraded her from gold digger so that’s something. The MMC seems like the typical rebellious rich boy but I liked the tiny bit of suspense that we got because of him. It was a needed change of pace. I ate up the pregnancy bit along with the slight breeding kink; it was realistic - the birthing part had me cracking up because of her comments.
While the book was ultimately not my cup of tea, hats off to Brooke. She writes such a huge range of stories, tropes, kinks, etc. She had something for everyone and I love that. Any book she puts out, I’m going to read it.

As usual B nailed this one, just like Henry nailed his step mom! I am obsessed with this series. they are quick, fun, erotic and make for such a fun read! And this was an accidental pregnancy...give me! I mean, they conceived this child during a hate f-ck right outside of his dying dads/her dying husbands bedroom door. I sat and read this and left no crumbs. Henry and Natalies dynamic was unconventional as she was his step mom. I can hear you guys now... eww that's so gross. calm down Karen. She is 25 and he is even a little older than her so it's really not that gross at all! The way the schemed together to get the house and the late husbands money was smart. She wasn't just a pretty face as Henry quickly found out. The way the Henry fell so quickly for her, I loved it and how he was so on board with having a baby with her. I just love all of these books and cannot wait for more of them!
