“Lilith was cold. Until she touched me. Then everything started to burn.”
Some wounds never heal. Some hungers never fade. Ruby has always been haunted—by grief, by solitude, by the weight of a world that turned cold the day her mother died. Life lost its color, and she drifted through it, numb and forgotten. Until one night, she meets a woman who makes her feel something for the first time in years...a woman with eyes like death and a touch like fire.
“I know I should run. But I’ve never been good at staying away from beautiful things that can destroy me.”
Lilith is a vampire, centuries old and utterly untouchable. She stalks the dark for blood, not companionship, and certainly not love. But when a strange girl dares to follow her into the shadows, something inside her cracks. Ruby is human—fragile, fleeting, forbidden—and yet…she’s the first thing Lilith has wanted in a very long time.
Tropes you'll sink your teeth
Dark sapphic romance
Vampire x human forbidden love
Grief & yearning meets immortal obsession
Soft mortal girl x emotionally shut-off vampire
Found you in the dark / found myself in your pain
Desire, danger, and destruction
Desire bleeds into obsession. Fear turns to fascination. And when love is tangled with bloodlust, who will survive the bite?
Cheyanne (she/they) is a chaos-filled, trope-twisting, smut-loving author of dark romance, monster heat, and emotionally feral fantasy. They write stories where desire gets dangerous, love bites back, and no one escapes untouched (or unmarked).
As an autistic writer of color, storytelling has always been their way of reclaiming space, pleasure, and power—one filthy, soul-crushing, or otherworldly scene at a time.
Their current and forthcoming obsessions include:
The Stormfire Series – Heroes and villains, enemies-to-lovers, and the kind of tension that burns slow, then explodes.
Beasts of Desire – Monsters who shouldn’t love and humans who can’t resist. A series of power, hunger, and ruin.
Deadly Sins – Seven dark romance standalones inspired by the sins you definitely want to commit. Sinful, seductive, and just a little bit unholy.
my voice was always mine – A poetry novel that bleeds truth, tenderness, and rage in every line. Where soft meets sharp.
Cheyanne’s writing is unapologetically bold, pushing the boundaries of genre and delivering stories that are as intense as they are unforgettable.
The introduction to this read was very reeling and intriguing with how thorough and moody Cheyanne writing is. But unfortunately as time went on, the descriptions were repetitive or just very drawn out.
While this is a short read so I didn’t expect anything to be too slow between Ruby and Lilith, I also didn’t expect the vampire reveal and the falling in love happening in like three days lol. I wanted more hesitation, disbelief, and fear from Ruby, and I wanted more out of Lilith in general.
As the story neared its end, I won’t lie, I did skim 😬😬. But it was solely because we were now introduced to this out of the blue plot and somehow Ruby is just this hotshot while being these vampires hostage and they just.. let it slide and actually fear her? Then they became a vampire fighting couple, I don’t know I was quickly lost unfortunately.
If you want just a quick read about lesbian vampires with nice writing, pick this up
This was my first book from Cheyanne Brubaker, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed her writing. The style is very immersive, told in first-person POV (which isn’t usually my preference), but it worked here for me due to how intimate and engaging her voice is. Even the more thought-heavy sections pulled me in rather than dragging, and I felt like both POVs were distinct and true to each character. Ruby and Lilith as individuals were very well fleshed out, and I found myself caring about them quickly. I especially appreciated Ruby being a plus-sized romantic lead. It’s openly acknowledged and celebrated, which was such a delight to see. As a sapphic reader, I also loved how much attention was given to women loving women details, descriptions of attraction, appreciation of women’s beauty, and all the little sapphic touches that made the story feel lovingly crafted.
Though, while I loved the characters, the relationship itself felt less developed compared to the characters as individuals. A lot of the focus falls on the physical side, with the romance dynamic (though it is closer to an obsessive dynamic between two almost strangers) taking a backseat to the smut. This isn’t a negative if what you’re here for is sapphic vampire spice (and to be clear, this book delivers a lot of it) But if you’re looking for a more balanced blend of relationship building, story conflict, and steam, just know the spice dominates. I personally would have preferred more bonding outside of that dynamic, though this is more of a readers preference territory (I tend to be a bit of a hopeless romantic when it comes to my romances 😂). The “story” plot and external conflict exist, but they sit even further in the background. Personally, this factor I expected so was less miffed by because the marketing set me up for exactly this kind of book, but it’s worth noting for reader preference. My one real personal nitpick is that while the smut is dense and plentiful, I did find that many of the scenes blurred together. There’s some dom/sub and light BDSM dynamic, but overall the encounters started to feel repetitive rather than fresh or explorative. By the end they were more of something I was just getting through rather than enjoying which did make me want to skim past most of it by the 2/3s point. (Note that I have taken a look at Brubaker’s backlog and she is not purely a sapphic writer, she dabbles in other pairings and variations, so that might be why for me as an avid sapphic reader I didn’t feel anything here felt fresh or dynamic enough to keep my interest over the course of many spice scenes).
Still, this book does exactly what it sets out to do: it’s a sapphic vampire romance packed with spice, featuring main characters who don’t feel like cookie-cutter archetypes. The writing is strong, the intimacy of the POVs makes it addictive to read, and Ruby’s plus-size representation is a huge win for me personally. If you want a long, very smutty sapphic vampire story with plenty of heat and two distinct leads, Bleeding in the End is absolutely worth picking up 🖤🔥
NOW THIS WAS BOOK UNLIKE ANYTHING I HAVE READ BEFORE! When I say give me all the TRIGGER WARNINGS this book delivered!!! The character descriptions to the world building. The start of this book was such an emotional one. And the twists in the story were what kept me hooked I COULD NOT put this book down. And the SPICE gosh! "I'll always burn for you" "then let's burn together". The characters were so different but came together as if they were each other's missing puzzle pieces it was beautiful. I have never read this Author before and I am looking forward to reading her stuff again cause the writing style was right up my alley. When the end of the book came the epilogue was amazing it was not one of those sappy ones that so many people do and I LOVED THAT!

Oh, sweet, merciless, slow burn. I'm going to start off by saying I usually absolutely hate slow burn romances. The only time I can do it is when it is accompanied by sass, banter & 'hate' spice, which is exactly what Cheyanne did. (This is also my first impression of her writing 🥰)
Going into this story, all I knew about it was that it was a dark sapphic vampire romance. That's it. No tropes or anything, and WOW... this book delivered on every aspect of the word. From raw emotions to intense connections, Ruby & Lilith easily became two of my favorite characters!
Ok this is my first time reading an FF book and holy cow I’m so hooked that I can’t even describe it. This book is perfect with slow-burn, vampires, tension, spice, and what not. At first I thought it’ll be little wired for me to read an FF but boy I was so wrong. I couldn’t put it down once I’ve started it. Although I had to finish it in between my work and study. I literally devoured this book without even feeling guilty 🙈. I loved everything in this book. Story is well written. Focus on characters were the best. And the entire book is just amazing.
Would recommend this book to everyone and I’m sure people gonna love this one as much as I did.
ARC Reader - I received an ARC of this book, and I’m so glad I did. This is a beautifully written dark romance. Yearning, slow burn, spice, FF, vampire… absolutely amazing!!
Cheyanne’s writing style is beautiful, and it conveyed this story perfectly!
"But I didn't run. I walked right into her arms. I kissed her. I begged for her. Maybe I've been possessed since the moment she touched me. Or maybe, I've always been hers."
Bleeding in the End (B.I.T.E.) is a dark, sapphic vampire romance with lots of spice. We have Ruby, a numb, grieving student and Lilith, a centuries old, powerful vampire who finds herself intrigued by the sad, lonely girl. Lilith will NOT under any circumstances fall for a human girl... except that she totally will because who wouldn't fall for Ruby?
This steamy story is a perfect read for Halloween!
What this little book lacks in plot is more than made up for in spice!!
*POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD*
Bleeding in the End is basically Ruby's origin story, and I'd enjoy reading more about what she and Lilith do with their newly forged bond and powers in a follow-up book, since it looks like they're ready to create a whole new world together, after they burn it all down for each other, of course.
However, I was a little confused by the timeline, especially towards the end. This book is like a thrill ride - everything happens quickly and then bam, you're done. It feels like maybe a week goes by between when Ruby applies for the job at Lilith's bookstore and when Lilith turns her, and they spent even less time developing a mutual obsession with each other. But in one sentence, they're destroying the evil vampire coven, and the next, they're 'destroying' each other amidst the ruins of Ruby's fave local bookstore, and her best friend, who had worked there, has skipped town to get "out before things turned bad"... But you never actually see things turning bad on-page; it's like we're supposed to infer what all has happened in the city they live in after they've brought down the vampire council's sanctuary (which is also confusing because is the sanctuary in the same place as where they live??). I would have liked more world-building in this regard.
Ultimately, Bleeding in the End is dark, sapphic, vampire erotica, and if you read it with that as your only expectation, then you'll be more than satisfied. 😉😏
Holy smokes! From the trigger warning at the beginning of the book I was hooked. A sapphic romance between a two hundred plus decade old vampire and a virgin? With obsession, lust, light BDSM, and a helluva fight scene? Absolutely, count me in! This book is full of slow burns with very hot and juicy sex scenes. I can only hope that Lilith and Ruby come back for another book so that we can see what escapades they’re up to. Look for this steamy mash up to arrive at Amazon on Halloween.
My thanks to Cheyanne for allowing me to read this ARC and post a review.
Okay so I was going back and fourth or whether or not I was even gonna leave a review. But here I am. This is a solid 2.5 for me. If you're someone who just needs to escape and you feel like you've read all the other lesbian Vampire smut...sure this book can be that distraction.
However, if you're distracted by something labeled "slow burn" but definitely isn't... Or by unoriginal writing, storytelling, and incredibly shallow characters you'll struggle with this one. There is a lot of promise however so I really hope this writer continues to develop & pushes themselves to be better. The main thing that kept me going was the world building and how atmospheric everything felt.
At the beginning of the book, I was super invested. I thought the premise was interesting. But about halfway through the book I stopped caring, tbh. There is only so far spice can get you in a storyline, and I felt this book relied too much on that and not enough time on me actually caring about the characters or feeling invested in them. It made the last bit a slog for me while I desperately tried to keep my eyes open… If you’re into a smuttier vampire read though, this just might work for you.
This is hands down one of my top five books that ive read this year, (I’ve read about 12 so far and counting) and this was most definitely my favorite romance so far. It had me hooked from page one, and I simply country stop reading except for work. I truly hope there’s more to come because this story was phenomenal the characters were so intriguing, dark and captivating. If could give this book MORE stars I would.
This was not my typical read, but I did really enjoy it. I enjoyed reading the build up of the relationship between the two main characters and the slow reveal of Lilith's past. I also really enjoyed seeing Ruby's character development as she gained more confidence and further explored who she is and wants to be.
Perfect for anyone who needs a good spooky season read, loves vampires, and likes spice in their romance!
Bleeding In the End by Cheyanne Brubaker left me scratching my head more often than not. Honestly, I had no idea what I was reading half the time. The book is about 80% sapphic smut—much of it repetitive in visual detail—and only about 20% story, which unfortunately felt mildly disconnected and lacking in depth.
I really wanted to love this. The premise had potential, and I was hoping for an emotionally resonant or at least cohesive journey. But by the end, I was left with more uncertainty than satisfaction, wondering what exactly I’d spent the last few hours consuming.
There’s definitely an audience for this kind of story, but for me, it needed more balance, more substance, and a clearer narrative thread to hold it all together.
