Broken alliances. Hidden traitors. The galaxy’s deadliest secrets.
The rebellion has begun, but Jace Hawthorne and the crew of the Revenant quickly learn that freedom carries a steep price. To keep Rising Dawn alive, they must race to recover the Eldra’kaarns' lost technology—before their enemies seize it first.
Every lead plunges them deeper into a shadow war of traitors, spies, smugglers, and alien factions vying to exploit humanity’s desperate fight for survival. Trust is scarce, and betrayal festers within Rising Dawn. Jace must rely only on his closest allies or risk watching the rebellion collapse from within.
The Overlords want the galaxy broken. Jace intends to make them bleed for it.
Relic Fleet is the relentless second installment in the Shadow of War series. Fans of fast-paced space operas, alien mysteries, and desperate fights for survival will be on the edge of their seats.
Anthony J Melchiorri is a scientist with a PhD in bioengineering. Originally from the Midwest, he now lives in Texas. By day, he develops cellular therapies and 3D-printable artificial organs. By night, he writes apocalyptic, medical, and science-fiction thrillers that blend real-world research with other-worldly possibility. When he isn't in the lab or at the keyboard, he spends his time running, reading, hiking, and traveling in search of new story ideas.
Giddy and terrific space fights! Adrenaline pumping and fast paced action and excitement. Exciting discoveries, with suspense of the existence of betrayal, or traitors? That’s just my personal thought. It’s tremendously nerve-wracking. Will have to wait patiently for book-3 to release. Sigh…

Just finished the 2nd book in the Shadow of War series, and it was another extremely well written and exciting story that you definitely don't want to put down. The battle scenes are phenomenal and will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you haven't started this series, you are missing out on something great. Really looking forward to the next book.
Tbe Eldra’kaarn warship is the key player in this adventure, along with Jace and Caera
Jace Hawthorne and Caera Frost uncover an Eldra'kaarn warship, the Revenant. Only Jace and his cat, Shadow, are imbued with the temporal microbes that allow him to communicate with and control Revenant. Until they find more of the Eldra'kaarn microbes, only Jace can use any of the functions of the warship and he has a lot to learn. Fortunately, the Revenant AI, ECHO, helps him use the ship functions and weapons. In addition to some pretty advanced weaponry, Revenant has powerful shields and the ability to cloak and move unseen. Delivering the warship to the Rising Dawn is the plan, but until more Eldra'kaarn microbes are found only Jace can operate the Revenant. Can one ship make a difference against the Overlords? Even one as powerful as the Revenant?
Powerful characters fill the cast of the Rising Dawn and Revenant. The Revenant is a pretty potent character itself with ECHO speaking for the warship. Jace, Son of the Lion, is saddled with high expectations. Is he stepping up? We'll see. Jace's romance with Caera is back-burnered by their duties to Revenant and Rising Dawn, but it still simmers. Shadow is another mysterious character, slinking around and appearing mysteriously in unexpected parts of the warship. Rising Dawn is a strong presence in the storyline, demanding allegiance and providing hope in a hopeless galaxy. The storyline presents one action-packed adventure after another! No time to catch your breath between sequences of combat, preparation and execution! This is another great read!
Relic Fleet is the second book in this series, and it's a good one folks. If you're a scifi fan, you should probably add this book to your to read shelf, The story advances in leaps and bounds in this book, and we get some teasers as well, but the most important piece of information we get is how the cat keeps winding up in the main character's quarters in the morning. (come on, you know you were curious). Anyway, great story, and now I need to borrow the next one in the series. This is turning out to be quite the interesting story.
The story continued well in this volume with just a few caveats. Great action, good characters, though just a little predictable, and good continued story development, but the authors grasp of physics appears to be somewhat off. All of the spacecraft battle scenes are written as of they were fighter jet battles in the atmosphere. For instance, continued engine thrust would result in ever increasing acceleration, which would not then result in decreasing speed when the thrust ends. It’s the little things, like this, which leave a blemish on an otherwise page-turner of a tale. Looking forward to the conclusion.
This book had even more nail-biting action than book one... how was that even possible?
The story continues where the last page of book one left off. It gradually eased into the action. From there, it was like a roller coaster ride at Six Flags Over Texas. It put you here and there and didn't want to let go of you until it reached the gate where you exit.
Fortunately, I didn't feel the ill effects as I would on a roller coaster. I did carry the intensity of the story with me.
From page one the story established in "Buried Starship," book two "Relic Fleet" takes off! Dr. Melchiorri is brilliant creating story arcs full of fabulous dialogue, narratives and action. "Relic Fleet" is a nonstop ride into deep space and self discovery of the protagonist, Jace. Incredible evolution of the relationships of other protagonists and the antagonists. Without giving spoilers, the adventure and journey lead to unexpected conclusions leaving the reader salivating for more.
I enjoyed this 2nd book and look forward to the next. I guess there is one very slight criticism. A word seems to be oft used in this series that I suppose is another way of saying “that’s ok” or “thats fine”. The word used here is “prime”. Every time I read it here it seems at least in my mind to cloud or confuse the desired meaning. I just wish authors could or would write in ways the reader thinks. Ok……that’s my little rant.
This book was a good read it picked up right where the first one left off. The book has plenty of action both on planets and out in different parts of space . There is a lot going on in these books you don't have just one set of bad guys , you have several and each one wants a different thing.
If you thought the first book in the series was fast paced look out with this one. Frenetic describes most of the book so double seat belts plus massive air bags required.
What's caller got to do with this? It will make you just as sick as it does the main character in all of his friends. But there's still light at the end of the tongue they achieve great things the author has done a great job
And he kept me reading... not scanning. Which is a bigger compliment than you may realize. I get bored with one max battle after another. Get on with the story!!! Quit using battles to avoid writing... Or are you just not talented enough to continue being creative.
Excellent plot line. Good progression for the series. Characters are well written with enough depth along with action elements. Looking forward to what happens next
This was an awesome follow-up. I have enjoyed this story very much. The story pulls you in and the characters are likeable. Will definitely continue this series.
Oh my gosh! I can not wait for the next ONE to be released!! I am sitting on the edge if my seat biting my nails waiting just waiting for the next one.
