oh my god this book is so bad!! that being said, it gets its five-star rating from the fact that in the 80's when i was like 11, this book was secret pornography for me and my friend. i don't remember details really, except one scene where a woman attempts sexual congress with a car's windshield. and to a young miss, that is HOT!! and now lustbader is writing the bourne continuations. so everyone's a winner!

I clicked 'read' 'cause i wanted this shit desappear from my main page. This book was so boring i wasn't able to finish it even though I don't remember when I didn;t finish any book because it was too bad to be finished. Characters are just... lame and main female character was one of the most irritating, stupid and terrible book characters i came into last year. Finally - about 100 page - I decided that I didn't commited so many sins in my life to suffer hell in the Earth and read this piece of nothing. I looked at the last page and when I saw that this main characters I wanted to beat down from the start is still allive - I didn't bother to read even one more page. The only thing that would make me finish Sirens was little hope that this chick will be killed in some really painful way.

I'm totally disappointed. I liked Lustbader - till now.

Young, hip and (of course) beautiful actress has just signed a contract for a challenging new film project. Then she catches her lover with another woman in bed. She kicks him out and dives into the night life of LA.

Reading this book, I felt like at a party, when you're standing next to a some people who are having a conversation. You listen in and find that you're not interested in the topic at all. You walk away

Not vey much like his other books. Here the story is all American with a young woman who is in the process of finding herself though a film. While the book takes you back in time and hops around quite a bit its ideological theme is great. Just not what I was expecting

From the reviews below, I should remember this story line - but I don't - why?

It didn't take long for me to realize that this book was terrible. I did not finish it (I got to around page 3o), so maybe it got better in the end. I picked it up at a library book sale, thinking that it was some interesting fantasy about sea voyages and sirens. The book lacked the paper cover, so there was no description. Boy, was I surprised. This book was basically a Hollywood porno. I was NOT impressed.

Really a slow read of a slow story … A few Redeeming features but wish I had not dragged myself all the way through it. The characters are all pretty unlikable and just not believable. Have read others by same author which are much better than this

Almost 100 pages in, this book still wasn't connecting with me, so I quit. Perhaps there's a great payoff for those who continue, but I just couldn't do it.

Not too bad. If you can get past the first 1 third of the book, you should be alright.

This is very close to a five star read due to Lustbader's usual powerful writing style and compelling characters. Literally the only thing preventing me from giving it five stars is that the last few pages are abrupt. What the characters do at the end is conceptually great, but it needed a bit better job building so the reader FEELS it as the natural evolution of the characters.

DNF, I wanted to get through the book because I genuinely don’t like not finishing a read but goodness it was dull and boring. It felt all over the place. I only got to page 200 and even that took me a month. Other books I can finish within a few days, but this. I had no drive to finish.

I was recommended this novel as a book for Halloween but I dont know why, there is no horror, it is a thriller. It was an interesting experience to read a book 30+ years old, and there were some good ideas, but were not so well executed. I liked the plot from the past and present, but not so much from the shooting od the movie. The ending could have been better. But it was an interesting experience. There are 3* only because of some interesting ideas.

I picked this up not too long ago and kept laughing at how bad it was. Quite frankly, to me it read like a bad fanfic.
I don't think I ever got too far into it, perhaps (and this is wishful thinking) it gets better in the end... Most likely not.
Although, if you're picking this up for a laugh and not as some serious reading, then I give it 5 stars. ;)

Good book, but not as good as his Nicholas Linnear series, or his Jake Maroc series.

Long on dialogue, but short on action.
