Chasing Tomorrow: A Zombie Apocalypse Romance

Rate this book
A reclusive soldier fights to save her in a land where the dead rule.

I’m a cold man in a dying world. The zombies rule what little remains, while the last of humanity crumbles, and survivors destroy the rest. I’m not a hero, and never will be. All I want is my peace and to be left alone.

It’s enough until the day I save Claire Woodson from a sinister band of men. Now, she demands my protection and threatens the peaceful life I built for myself. Claire also wants my help to rescue her sister from the same group of men who tried to kidnap her.

Except that saving her life was an accident, and keeping her alive isn’t my problem. If Claire wants my help, she’ll need to pay for it with the only part of her I value.

Claire will meet my price. The only question is whether she’ll give me what I want or if I’ll take it from her.

This is the first book in an interconnected zombie apocalypse romance series. Book 2 continues the overall story, with a focus on a new couple. Inside, you will find an alpha hero, steam, forced proximity, a dual POV, and a happily ever after. It contains dark themes and is intended for mature readers.

I was a bit torn by this book. I liked the set up to this story and eventually really liked the characters. Both characters took a minute to grow on me. But I did like the evolution of their relationship. I did like that she pushed him to open up and care for more than just himself. She learned to be a bit tougher. She didn't have any real survival skills.

The writing of the story is what I didn't enjoy. The writing was very choppy and several times I had to go back reread several paragraphs to see if I missed something. It took me out of the story several times. There were some scenes that were written really well, however most of the story was not. I want to read the next in the series, but I don't know if I could stand the writing again.
