A huge thank you to Vee for gifting me with an ARC of Double Edge before its release, in exchange for my honest review! I started reading this book while it was a rough draft. So, I'm super happy to have been given the chance to read it in its final published era.
This book follows Vee's main character, Gio, fresh out of prison and on a quest for revenge. I've always adored Vee's strong voices and depictions of characters (from main characters to side characters!), and Gio is no exception. He is one of my favorites. A fun, sarcastic guy with a lot of anger to compliment his brooding. I found myself rooting for Gio often throughout the book - resonating with his anger - feeling his shame and pain, among other things. I'd recommend Double Edge to anyone who enjoys a mix of crime and scifi, robots, and morally gray characters.

If you are a fan of the TV show “Million Dollar Man” and the video game “Prototype,”this is a mixture of both!! Giovanni Solis is a protector, family man and ‘criminal’. But he is innocent. Reading Vee’s debut kept me on edge as the story continued with its twists and turns. Gio’s a man with a plan: revenge on men that he called friends, even brothers. A robbery gone wrong, but he took the fall. I found Gio’s character arc of a good person being pushed to his limit. The betrayal and disloyalty, it was heartbreaking and beautiful! I read through tears in my eyes, finding out the secrets and omissions. All Gio wanted was his life back and to be a great dad to Maggie. I enjoyed Kimi and him when they spoke to each other, he's so soft with her, she kept him in line with her honesty. I loved it!!
