"A Game of Truth and Lies" is a paranormal, psychological thriller which starts with what should have been a simple phone call but this little prank spirals to more than they could've imagined.

It fills with tension as the creepiness starts, as someone who is always watching, someone who is always a step ahead. It makes you worry for them, against a stalker who knows too much.

The story is about this friend group, truths & secrets that were hidden, as the author slowly builds the suspense, keeping readers on their toes. There are twists, turns & the writing style is steady, being easy enough to follow. It's intriguing & for readers who like haunting thrillers.

"A Game of Truth and Lies" by Ridhi P hooks readers from the start with a teen's prank call to her own number that unleashes a nightmare of voodoo dolls, creepy texts, and mind games. Mia and her friends face a stalker who knows their secrets, invades their homes, and forces them into traps like burying dolls or visiting haunted spots. The story mixes real fear with hints of the supernatural, keeping tension high as trust breaks down.

The book's fast pace shines in scenes like the library trap, where friends get lured and split up, or the auditorium reveal with bound victims waiting for a "show." Ridhi P builds dread well by blurring dreams and reality, such as when Mia wakes with real bruises from doll pins. Weak spots show in repeated chases and texts that slow the middle, making some twists feel predictable. Still, the shift to group suspicion adds sharp psychological edge.

The theme of truth versus lies drives the plot, as past sins surface via yearbook pages and whispers, forcing confessions that tear friends apart. Simple language fits young adult horror, with short sentences ramping up panic during home invasions or pit traps. The ending hints at betrayal from within, leaving room for unease without full closure.

A nice book for the chilly winters!!!

One of the characters who really stayed with me was Mia. She isn’t written as the usual fearless thriller heroine—she reacts the way any normal person would when things spiral out of control. Her fear feels real, her confusion feels honest, and the way she tries to protect her friends even when she’s barely holding herself together makes her surprisingly relatable. Watching her go from a curious teenager making a silly phone call to someone fighting an invisible threat gives the story an emotional anchor.

The plot itself hits hard right from the first chapter. What begins as an innocent urban legend turns into a terrifying nightmare involving phone calls, disappearing dolls, unsettling messages, and a presence that seems to know everything before they even do it. Ridhi Patnam builds tension slowly but effectively—the kind where every chapter ends with a “wait… what now?” moment.

The voodoo dolls returning after being buried, the stalker knowing personal details, and the constant feeling that the characters are being watched make the story feel claustrophobic in the best way. It’s creepy, fast-paced, and keeps raising the stakes until you’re just as on edge as the characters.

A solid pick if you like thrillers that feel personal, unpredictable, and genuinely unnerving.

"So, I tried distracting myself with social media, but my mind kept wandering anyway. I couldn't keep out those dumb, spooky thoughts like my brain wanted to scare itself for fun."

Ridhi P's "A Game of Truth and Lies" captures readers right away with a teen's prank call to her own phone number, unleashing a nightmare of voodoo dolls, weird texts, and mind games. Mia and her pals are stalked by someone who knows their secrets, breaks into their houses, and makes them to perform tasks such as burying dolls or visiting haunted places. The novel combines genuine dread with otherworldly elements, keeping suspense high as trust erodes.

What I liked about this book - I enjoyed Mia's character because her dread is real, her perplexity is genuine, and the way she strives to protect her companions even when she is barely holding herself together makes her surprisingly realistic.
.The narrative smacks hard directly from the first chapter. The author creates tension gradually but well, ending each chapter with new excitement everytime.
. It's easy to read and keeps you wondering what will happen next. The terror and anxiety are the best parts, since you can sense the characters' anguish.

This book hooked me from the very first chapter. What starts as a harmless prank suddenly spirals into a chilling nightmare of late-night calls, eerie symbols showing up where they should not and a stalker who always seems one step ahead. Someone is watching, someone who knows more than they should and the characters have no idea how deep the danger truly goes.

The tension builds with every chapter, the kind that makes you whisper “just one more…” until you realize you have been glued to the pages for hours. The atmosphere is claustrophobic in the best way...creaks in empty rooms, whispered threats, shadows that linger too long. It is eerie, fast-paced and deliciously unsettling.

What really sold the story, though, is how real the characters feel. Their fear is not exaggerated...it is messy, human and entirely believable. Watching them unravel secrets, protect each other and guess every sound adds an emotional punch to all the twists and scares.

If you are craving a thriller that feels personal, unpredictable and impossible to put down, this one is absolutely worth picking up for your next spooky night read. 👀📖✨

Thrillers are my thing and exploring different books is always what i love. And i stumbled upon this creepy one.
A Game of Truth and Lies is a tense psychological thriller that kept me hooked from the very first chapter. The story revolves around friendships, hidden secrets and how quickly trust can break when fear enters the picture. The author keeps the suspense steady, revealing clues slowly so you’re always wondering who is telling the truth and who is hiding something. What makes the book stand out is how real the characters feel–their doubts, their mistakes and the pressure they carry. The writing is clear and fast-paced making it easy to follow while still keeping you curious. As the story moves forward the twists become sharper and the emotions hit harder. By the end, you’re left thinking about honesty, loyalty and how complicated people can be. It’s a gripping thriller that stays with you even after you finish it.

The books begins with a simple call placed by Mia, one among a group of friends, and it leads to a series of omnious calls and messages from an unknown number. Random parcels and haunting sounds and situations.

The one behind the phone has one goal, break the friends, break their trust in one another and make sure that they all suffer.

I liked how the loss of trust among the friend group was depicted, and how the group gets forced to reveal their darkest secrets.

It is a horror thriller, that kept me engaged right from the start, finished the book in one sitting.

However the writing could have been a little better as the setting of the scene could have been done better and a few scenes felt repetitive, better writing would have made it more interesting.

The plot was good and overall was an enjoyable short read.

This book is about a girl who suddenly starts getting scary phone calls, creepy messages, and weird dolls showing up everywhere. Someone is watching her, someone who knows her secrets, and she has no idea why. The story moves very fast, and every chapter has something shocking happening shadows, noises, threats, and friends getting dragged into the mess.

It’s easy to read and keeps you curious about what will happen next. The fear and tension are the best part, you can actually feel the stress the characters go through. Some scenes repeat a bit, and the characters could have been written in more depth, but overall it’s a fun, spooky, night time read.

The first chapter was so intriguing and it was bang on with an eerie phone call to her own number and it being answered.
I wanted to know how the story would turn out and what would be the next turn of events following that one phone call, but I was just left a bit confused as to whether it was psychological or paranormal.
Like the start the ending was good but I didn’t get an answer as to why or what was the reason for the things happened, which kinda felt incomplete.
when i finished this book i just felt that it did not stand up to the expectation that I had for it, when I started reading the book.
