Book 2 in the Sour Candy trilogy and ends with another cliffhanger! 🤬 This one was not as good as the first book.

SCREAMING at that ending. So glad Chase doesn't keep up waiting long for books because I need to know what happens next NOW.
This is book two of the series and Noah and Benji are just as intense and sweet as book one! I love them together so so much.
This one was maybe a little angstier than book one, and our poor Benji goes through it with Noah right alongside him.
I loooooved the spice in this. Do check the CWs but we had some new kinks and it was all just very well done.
The actual plot was also plotting! Not going to lie I was on the edge of my seat at times.
I love this series so much and I am so excited for the final book!

I devoured the first book and immediately started this second one, and I'm falling more and more in love. I really need this third book as soon as possible 😩🥺
And please, author… this third book has to have lots of scenes of Benji calling Noah Daddy, please, please, I've been waiting for that since the first book. And it's better to end with Benji happy and a wedding scene lol

Ok, so I was a bit ambivalent about the first one in this series and I am a bit more disappointed about the second one.
Why?
They say authors should write about stuff they know, but it is clear that Chase is not very familiar with the art world. Water colour is typically used on special water colour paper. In order for it to go onto canvas the canvas has to be specially treated. And any artwork of a water colour type would not be hung in an exhibition without protection - i.e. a frame with glass in front of the painting.
Usually water colours come in "cakes" but there are also tubes, however, if the water colour from tubes is used, then the water colour of the painting remains water soluble. Which means any spot of rain, or even someone accidentally spitting while talking and getting spit onto the painting will accidentally dissolve the paint. Hence the glass cover.
The way Benji's paining is described it sounds like the author is confused between oil paints, acryllic paints and water colours and uses the terms interchangeably.
Also Benji constantly covers up a painting he is working on with a sheet - highly unlikely as when the sheet touches the wet water colour paint it would stick to it and ruin it. And at times talks about it needs time to dry - yes, but water colour actually dries farily quickly and doesn't need a long time. As an artist I find the way Benji's art is described annoying.
The bedroom stuff is hot enough and well written.
The fact that Noah doesn't stand up to his brother and doesn't protect Benji from his brothers nastiness, is a big lack in Noah's credibility as a daddy-dom.
The book ends on a cliffhanger and that kind of spoilt it for me, because I feel that the whole 3 books could have been adequately put into one book with a bit of creative editing.
The number of typos and missing words in the book are disturbing.
It feels like Chase is choosing to get the maximum amount of $ out of the readers by breaking a book into three to make us readers pay three times for one story and then can't be bothered paying for a spell/grammer checker or proof reader. Bad form.

I still think this would have been better as one book instead of a series, but I did really enjoy reading this installment.
I continue to love Noah and Benji both so much. I love Max as well. I felt like we got to feel more of the sibling bond between Max and Benji in this one, but at the same time it occasionally felt like we went too long without mentioning Max. I found myself wondering where he was a couple of times when Benji spent long stretches of time with Noah.
I was a little frustrated with the way Benji and Noah communicated for the first half of the book, but during the second half they got much better.
I really do understand why Benji has so many walls up, and it’s so satisfying every time they come down more around Noah. I liked that it felt like he is really starting to trust Noah even when all of his instincts still try and tell him that good things never last.
I said in my review of the first book that I hoped we got some deeper character insight into Michael so he didn’t seem quite so irredeemably evil, and I feel like this book did deliver on that. Even though he got arguably even more evil, the part where Noah was trying not to think about all the good brotherly times they’d had together throughout their childhood did have me feeling more empathy towards Michael and some sadness into things turning out the way they did.
Overall I felt very entertained by this book and did very easily devour it and am moving right on to the last in the series.

The follow up to 'Sour Candy' where we left Benji having a terrible altercation with his landlord, fortunately Noah is there to soothe his body and soul, (emphasise on body, there's and awful love of sex here). Here they now want revenge on the person who tried to destroy Benji's world, Noah's brother. It's a good tale full of drama and heartache, I did find the sex a wee bit of over load, I admit to a little bit of skimming at times, I was more interested in these two men's love and woes. All in all a really nice story and we have the last of the trilogy to come, which is good as we were left on a rather surprising cliffhanger.

2nd book in the Sour Candy series. Which I thought was going to be a duology, but here we are at the end of book two with a cliffhanger. I should’ve done some research 😅
Anyway, I like the story and the characters enough to keep waiting to see how it all ends. In this one, Benji and Noah get better at opening up, their relationship feels more solid, and Noah’s brother Michael somehow gets even more insufferable.
We get a bit more of Max (love that kid), and of course, plenty of sexy times. Honestly, I think this book is even hotter than the first one.
Now I’ll just be here, waiting impatiently for the next one.

Salted Candy dives right into where the first book left off. Back into Benji being evicted from his apartment and the fall out from that. The plot continues dealing with Noah's ass hat of a brother and getting Benji to accept just how cherished he is by Noah and that he won't be left behind. The inclusion of their continued exploration of the dom/sub relationship and learning limits felt nicely done. Another last minute cliffhanger makes me ready for the last book.
