Two years after the solar storm that knocked out power around the world, Astoria stands as an example of all that can be right about a community. Eight women have built lives out of what remains.
Jackie and Taylor are summoned to a distant summit where their journey is a test of resolve and a leap of faith.
Grace and Meg shoulder the weight of leadership after returning to Astoria and face new and old dangers as the community’s fragile peace is threatened.
Anna and Lexi find their world challenged by a charismatic outsider and must work together as illness sweeps through the town and fear takes root.
Sam and Laura fight to protect their home from a hungry bear and the specter of sickness that strikes too close to the heart.
As uncertainty deepens and shadows gather beyond Astoria’s borders, every bond will be tested. In a world that refuses to be tamed, hope is a stubborn thing and the courage to hold fast to love, to truth, and to each other may be the only light left when darkness rises.

KC Luck has not stopped giving us what we want. The story begins but it never really did end its continued from book 6. We get to see what is going on with each couples and how they interact. The have learned to live like the days of Little House on the Prairie but with some modern day things. KC keeps us on our toes hoping things may return to normal but still having to deal with every day life problems. We see that the community is better together and they've learned to help each other through this new way of life.
Wow what a follow up in the story of Astoria in the Darkness serie. A lot of new challenges, long trips and lots op hectic. The story is captivating, intriging at some points. The fear sometime is a scary feeling. The end is open and with positive possibility's but also with some real Darkness at the horizon by some certain people.
In the aftermath of the San Fran novel, things are starting to change. Nearby towns are forting up, there are bears roaming, and the mayor and chief of police have been invited to a territorial discussion in Pendleton.
(While I like the series, it does suffer from having such a large cast. The books aren't very focused.)
The plague arc was interesting, as was Sam hunting the gear and the politics bit. Everything mostly wraps up, but sets up next plotlines.
I loved the story. There’s no new characters introduced in this one. But I’ve enjoyed following everybody’s adventures. I was hooked from chapter 1. I read the book in one setting. I can’t wait to see what will happen next during their journey in the darkness. I hope KC Luck will never stop adding books to this series!
We've been waiting for this book for a bit now and are delighted with it. It somehow always feels like stepping back into the family and catching up. KC tells great, well written stories. Do yourself a favor and don't miss this.
This book is so good. The way the characters take care of each other. The way they do the right thing. I wish that we could get back to a kinder community.
What a great addition to the Darkness Series! I loved how the story centered around established characters. Also, enjoyed the introduction of the villain, Ferrari. I cannot wait to see what Astoria has in store for itself as it deals with this new threat.
