Keeping him match-fit wasn’t supposed to feel this personal.
Reese Hopper has worked too hard to torch her career over one ‘ironman’ defender with a shoulder he refuses to rest. No matter how disarming his French accent may be. As physio for The Surge, her job is diagnose, treat, report. But when Theo asks her to help hide his injury, she finds herself agreeing.
One controlled adjustment at a time. One lie layered over the last. One knowing smile at a time. Soon the lines blur faster than the puck on a sudden breakaway.
Theo Bouchard is known for taking the hits and never showing it. Losing the Cup last season lit a fire he refuses to ignore. But Reese becomes both his ticket to victory and the temptation he can’t resist.
And the longer she keeps him in the game? The harder it is to keep himself in check.
BREAKAWAY is a scorching hockey romance filled with humor, suspense, and hockey-related excitement. HEA guaranteed!
Oh boy. I loved each of the couples from the previous books in K.T. Quinn's San Antonio Surge series. Each couple brought their awesomeness to their books. When it comes to Theo and Reese... Holy hell, their combustible chemisty was HOT. The simmering attraction between them was freaking fantastic. Every moment together felt like really satisfying foreplay. When it finally ignites? I'm surprised more people didn't get singed. It was SO GOOD.
The hockey portion of the book wasn't my favorite. As a hockey fan, I get sad when I hear players playing through pretty bad injuries during the playoffs. So seeing it being played out through Breakaway made it feel a little too real. On the other hand, also loved that it real. I didn't like the fact that Reese went along with some of Theo's insanely bad plans, but I can understand the pressure to do so.
That being said, I flipping loved Breakaway. The romance was AMAZING. The hockey was fantastic. I really hope we get a least one more book in the series. Please?.

The San Antonio Surge have had a great hockey season and the finals are looming, so close all the players.can taste it. Theo Bouchard.is just wanting to finish the season, make it to and through the finals and not let his team down. He is playing through a shoulder injury that is getting worse with each game and his biggest fear, it will give it out on him before the season ends. Reese Hooper is the team's PT, she is new but eager and determined to be the best. She comes from a family of doctors so this job as much as it's her wheelhouse, it is not up to family expectations. There are a lot of moving parts in the story which makes for an exciting read but the main thread is the relationship between Theo and Reese. She earns his trust and agrees to help him through the season but amateur decisions, high expectations and less.than professional feelings all.come into play and can destroy it all. Another Surge player finds his HEA but at what cost? As always, looking forward to the next book.and love to read about previous players, still going strong. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed the story of Reese, who is the OT for the hockey team and Theo who is the Defence on the team. Theo has an injury but refuses to treat it and says continually that he is fine, but Reese knows that it is more than what he says it is. I enjoyed the interaction between these two characters, and felt for them when they were fighting against each other, especially Reese when she knew that Theo could irreparably damage his shoulder, I continuing to play wounded. Their relationship grew, despite their battle against each other, until eventually, their emotions got the better of them, and they could no longer deny how they felt there is a happily ever after for them, the story has a lot more involved in it, but you will need to read it to get the full benefits.

It's a slow go getting to Reese and Theo's romance. I had difficulty with their physiotherapist / hockey player dynamic and it took a great deal of effort to believe in their romance.
Theo hides his arrogance and righteousness behind a winning smile and ability to charm Reese. Reese's background is vague, but it seems she dealing with a lot of expectations that guide her towards questionable and unethical behavior. I wanted to like Reese and Theo as much as the characters from the other books in this series, but it was a challenge.
It was very hard for me to get on board with this book. Too many lines crossed, no apparent accountability and everything miraculously tied up with a pretty bow for the happy ending.

Secrets and The Shoulder Theo Bouchard wants the Stanley Cup, and he’s willing to break himself to do it. As the team’s physio, Reese wants him healthy and healed. These two have crackling energy, but they’re keeping secrets from the team… and each other. I enjoyed the banter between Theo and Reese, and they are red hot together. However, I felt their story was overshadowed by The Shoulder. Theo’s Shoulder is injured from the start and it gets so much air time that it’s basically another character. That said, I still really enjoyed the Surge’s run for the Cup, and the conclusion was thrilling. A great read.
I liked this entertaining Hockey romance with drama, chemistry, steam, denied feelings, coming clean, and a possible HEA. I did not like the ending, and 10 year gap for the epilogue leaving unanswered questions. The defined MCs are strong, determined, and compromised due to their emotions. Overall this was a good read.

Book four of the series follows Reese (a physio for the team) and Theo (one of their defensemen). With themes of off limits/forbidden, workplace and hockey, with some great steamy moments too. For me, this is the first book in the series I've read. It flows well by itself but would probably work better as part of the series read in order.

Only reason I am giving this is 3 is because of the subject matter and how it was portrayed. I think it missed the mark and it could have been written in a different way. I just was taken a back in the way it was approached. It hit me a weird way. I liked the characters and just wish the story flowed a ifferent way.
