On February 28th, 2012, Barry's 9-year old son asked him what he was going to leap for Leap Day. Sitting in the discomfort of the king-sized frozen yogurt he just inhaled, the answer came easily - SUGAR. Leap Day became a 30 day challenge that led to a lifestyle makeover, and the results have been nothing short of human renewal and purification: 38" waist became 32", wrinkle free skin, mental clarity, deep sleep, a quiet mind, and no memory of just how terrible a 2PM crash really feels.
There is more than one author with this name Let me get this out of the way: I'm a 4-time World Juggling Champion. Yep, modern day circus blood runs through these veins.
Sure, most Barry Friedmans who write books are doctors, lawyers, great thinkers, and even experts in Native American Blankets - but none of them can juggle 3 ping pong balls using only their mouth. Since 1982 I have been 1/2 of the Raspyni Brothers.
We have traveled around the world performing at high-end corporate events, opening act for dozens of celebrities including the late Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Howie Mandel, and even Tom Jones and Dean Martin. Yeah, been a long, strange road.
On Leap Day of 2012 I decided to "leap" sugar for the day. That decision has led to thousands of people around the world following suit thanks to the fact that I like to share what I'm up to.
I 've worn many hats in my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. I crave an impossible challenge and a tight deadline. I am occasionally a TED presenter (six times), international award-winning performer, business coach, commercial pilot, tri-athlete, writer, and always a husband and father.
I enjoy running, biking, swimming, and mountain unicycling. I live in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains with my amazing sugar-free wife Annie, and our reluctantly occasional sugar-free son, Zed.
There is a lot more to this book than you would guess. I was expecting a few pages of the evils of sugar and how to give up sugar. There is some of that, but it is a very motivating book about lots of areas of your life. Part of it reminds me of the first Tony Robbins book. I recommend this book.
Gives some good facts about the benefits of living sugar free. Mostly focuses on the why and how of going 30 days sugar free. I recommend "The Sugar Blues" for more facts about how sugar came to be so rampant and about how it interacts with our bodies.
Alot of interesting information within this book and also many success stories too of how eliminating sugar led to a healthier self, with better skin, attitude, even weight loss.
