screaming wheezing throwing up
Okay, well… I didn’t go in with high expectations, but I still ended up enjoying it enough to keep reading. The beginning had promise, though the middle felt flat and overstuffed, and the conclusion didn’t quite deliver the impact I wanted. Even so, the mix of baking tips, festive charm, and rom‑com chaos made it a decent holiday escape.
Eating Her Christmas Cookies blends holiday baking with rom‑com antics, but the execution is uneven. Chloe, a Christmas‑obsessed chef competing on a holiday baking show, falls for Jack—the brooding tower owner and judge who’s her opposite in every way. Their grumpy/sunshine dynamic starts strong, with fun banter and a slow‑burn romance that eventually hits full force, but the pacing stumbles. The story often jumps scenes abruptly, plateaus midway, and then piles on drama that feels excessive and repetitive.
The book offers romance, comedy, drama, and a few spicy moments, but it’s also predictable and cliché at times. The sabotage and stalking teased in the blurb barely show up, and Jack’s backstory is stretched out until late in the book. Some side character mentions seem connected to other stories, but they don’t always land clearly here. The audio version adds another layer of confusion by combining novellas about Jack and Chloe (Eating Her Baked Goods and Eating Her on New Year’s Eve, but confusingly not Eating Her Wedding Cake), while the ebook keeps them separate.
Overall, though, it’s a spicy holiday rom‑com with laughs and festive vibes, weighed down by too many plotlines and uneven pacing. Not spectacular, not a favorite, but entertaining enough to finish. Especially if you’re craving Christmas cookies, cheesy drama, and a dash of holiday romance. 🎄🍪✨
Big thanks to Tim Paige and Neva Navarre for their narration. Even though it wasn’t in duet style, they still managed to keep me fully engaged with the story. Their voices captured the humor and heart of Chloe and Jack, making the listen feel lively and fun.
I have enough patience and curiosity to keep going with this series. There are five Frost brothers—one down, four more to go. Next up is Owen, and even though there’s no hint yet about who he’ll encounter, I’m eager to find out. So yes, I’m diving straight into Tasting Her Christmas Cookies like it owes me answers. 💥🏃🏻♀️
