Could be considered as a serious commentary about displacement and when atrocities are done when colonizers steal lands from those they deem 'dangerous'
Alas this was still a cozy fantasy, so it ended on a hopeful note that it became underwhelming.
Despite this gripe, I did finish the audiobook immediately because I love PJ as a main character, and his growth was done perfectly. I disagree with a review that described him as a doormat when he was so clear with his boundaries.
It's a nice change to have a male lead choose kindness again and again especially when it's not easy to do so. The fantasy aspect was also expounded more and the dragon aspect sounded cool!!!!
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll continue with the next books as of now though.
It's really because of Grant, his best friend.
I disliked this character in the Weary Dragon Inn series and I still find him annoying in this book hahaha
While I do get his purpose for the plot, he reminds me so much of someone narcissistic in my life.
Maybe I will change my mind when I had more therapy and finally learn to separate my problems in real life and in fiction. Ehh.
Great narration though by the voice actor!
