When luxury camping comes to Babbling Brook, will Noelle’s big break be shot down before it even begins?
Noelle Cooper is thrilled when a high-end excursion company chooses Babbling Brook Campground for a trial run of its luxury “glamping” experience. If she can impress the company’s founder—and help him secure new investors—Noelle could land a coveted spot on the company’s vendor list. It’s the opportunity that could finally end her financial woes.
But Noelle’s parallel project—rebuilding her grandmother’s house from the ashes—throws the glamping trip into chaos. Tempers flare between the untidy contractor, the rule-obsessed code enforcement officer, and the demanding owner of the excursion company. When one of them turns up dead at the construction site, the glamorous getaway takes a deadly turn.
While local law enforcement focus on a missing hiker, Noelle and her cousin Mandy can’t shake the feeling that the death wasn’t a tragic accident. As the wealthy guests sip champagne and nitpick one another, Noelle digs into secrets and grudges, determined to uncover who had the most to gain from a well-timed “accident.”
With the glamping event wrapping up and camping season fast approaching, Noelle is under the gun to finish the house, impress her high-end clients, and catch a killer before her big break disappears in a cloud of smoke.
Can Noelle nail down the truth before the culprit slips away? Or will this glamorous adventure collapse around her? Read Glamping & Gunshots now to find out.
Hi, I'm Nicole (aka Nikki). I grew up reading in unconventional spots: the backseat of a car, the top of the monkey bars on my backyard play set, the corners of the quietest hallways in my elementary school.
I don't read a lot of horror or poetry, and (after years of DNF'ing) I have a hard rule never to read books that have witches as characters. I read in pretty much any other genre, and I've even helped to edit a translated book in the military science fiction genre.
I'm originally from Maine in the USA, but I live in Madrid, Spain these days. Madrid is a city of readers, with bookstores and libraries on practically every block, and one of the biggest book fairs I have ever seen that takes place every May. As a cozy mystery author, I find it fun to spot cozies, both translated from English or written in Spanish, around the city.
I love dogs, nachos, coffee, and ice cream, and so far, I have worked three of those four things into the books in my Maine Campground Cozy Mystery series. I'm supposed to be working on the next book right now, so maybe I'll go write a scene in which the characters are eating nachos!

I have been enjoying this series. Each book has been so fun, even though there is always murder and mystery involved. In this one, the characters are working on restoring Noelle's grandmother's house after a fire in an earlier book. At each turn, the inspector comes up with something they are doing wrong and continually breaking the codes. When he ends up dead, the chase begins to find out who did it before the season opening at the campground. In the meantime, an investor is trying to put together a group of wealthy clients to form a camping crowd that would be willing to stay in expensive and luxurious Airstreams. It's a great read and I'm sure all will like it. I would suggest, however, that you read the books in order, as each one is somehow connected.
Another fun adventure with Noelle, Corny, and their friends and family in Maine. Most of law enforcement is occupied trying to find a missing hiker so it’s up to Noelle and Mandy to uncover clues in the death of a much-unliked building inspector.
Quite a few twists and red herrings brings in suspects and motives from all over New England. Obnoxious Reggie is trying to build his new business of glamping for the super rich and he makes big demands on Noelle, who is trying to grow her own event business.
For the best experience, read the books in the series in order. Great conclusion wraps things up (no cliffhanger endings that I don’t really enjoy) leaves plenty of room for new stories in the future. A quick enjoyable mystery.
