Ready to settle down but frustrated by one bad date after another, Declan swears off dating and searching for “the one”, and I find the bravery to offer something else besides a massage. All Declan has to do is pretend I’m his wife and not his best friend’s daughter…and so will Kason if he wants to join us.

It takes longer than expected to get going, but it ended up being what it was supposed to be.

(Small detail; in mindless steamy reads, especially ones with breeding kink, characters worrying about money or working too hard to survive ruin the fantasy a bit. But that's just me~)

These May Alder novelettes know their job and do it well. Her formula is basically young and incredibly hot (and yet completely innocent to the ways of the flesh) woman has relations(hip) with an older man, usually but not always someone not related but in some sort of quasi-familial role.

Here we have Corinne, who is living with one "uncle" figure to save on bills, while another "uncle" figure works on an oil rig. She is canonically on page as 21 so she can have inhibition-lowering drinks at some point. Anyhoo, she and this uncle are determined to "behave appropriately" while lounging scantily clad giving each other massages, so....that ship may have sailed. Eventually of course they just go for it, and later fold in the other uncle as well.

I liked that Alder made this relationship fully FMM, with the two uncles attracted to each other and acting on that attraction. I would have loved to see any grappling with their feelings and orientations beyond "gay for him," and the family law convolutions at the end seemed very complicated (apparently you can get away with a LOT in the Alder universe, but a child out of wedlock is a bridge too far). She's a fun and effective writer, you know what you are going to get and she delivers.

Pretend I'm Yours was absolutely *perfect* I loved the "forbiddenness" of their dynamic and May did it in a way that was a thousand percent hot and not cringy. It was naughty and sweet at the same time, and I loved that the pining was mutual every which way if you know what I mean ;) the spice had me swooning. highly recommend.

What a spicy ride this was!

The “Tell me what you’d do to me” talk while pushing the boundaries with each other for the first time + Everyone finally giving in to their secret desires was not only sweet, but oh so hot!

I loved the duality of the confidence the men had with Corinne, but that this was also new to them considering they’ve never been with another man before. All of these tropes went together so well and I ate it right up!

May Alder has multiple Cheeky Novelette’s like this one available now and I highly recommend giving them a try!

I adore these novelettes that allow a quick and spicy escape from reality.

This was a sweet and spicy story about a woman falling for her father's best friends. I especially loved the bi-awakening aspect of this story. The tender beginnings and explorations of new desires.

Super fun read if you're looking for a book you can read in a single sitting.

I hate this trope!!!!!

I hate this trope — I really want the whole why-choose/MM/MMF trend to be OVER.
Let me start by saying I LOVE your books so much. I’ve reread so many of them, and anytime I’m in a reading slump, your writing is what gets me out of it.
With that being said… I was honestly really disappointed when I saw what trope this novella was. It feels like every author is doing this lately, and it’s getting old fast.
Of course you can write whatever you want — and I fully support that — but I really hope in the future we’ll see more books with an FMC and a possessive MMC, with no sharing or MM content. That’s the stuff I adore from you.”

“Just like that, sugar,” he rumbles as I roll my hips from side to side.

Our FMC is 21 year old college student Corinne who’s father passed away during the end of her sophomore year at college so she’s taken under the wing of her “uncles” our MMC’s Declan (43yo) and Kason (43yo). Her late fathers best friends. She has been in love with them for so long but little does she know the feelings are reciprocated.

DANG THIS BOOK WAS SPICY. Despite it being a 23k word novella it had a really nice balance of plot and spice which was so bloody well written.

Why choose romances are not usually for me but I’m so glad I took a chance on this because it was soo dang beautiful.

I was blushing multiple times and swooning a lot. You could feel the chemistry and love bleed off the pages.

Although some view their relationship as unconventional, you cannot deny that these three were meant for each other and their love was nothing short of beautiful.

The epilogue had my heart soaring and I was just so happy for them.

Such a beautiful novella that set my kindle on fire I almost needed to call the firefighters.

If you love your books on the taboo side with a mix of age gap and “we shouldn’t be doing this” then this novella is for you.

This was a short hot and spicy novelette. Let's also not forget delicious because it left me craving for more. I literally ended up wishing it was a full book or a bit longer because I needed more of the throuple and their dynamics.

The moment I saw all these tropes listed, I knew this was my jam. This is literally all my favourite tropes put together. Somnophilia, breeding, taboo, and age gap. What more could I wish for. This is my heaven on earth.
So the moment it landed on my email was perfect. Because I was going through a mini slump unsure on what to read next, but this one worked out perfectly and left me craving more.

Corinne is out here living my dream life. Because what do you mean getting to wake up with two sexy men obsessed with you, who are also boyfriends by your side every single day. She's literally the chosen one.

I love both men, but Uncle Declan won me over, sorry Uncle Kason. The way these two were obsessed and possessive over Corinne was everything. And even more perfect with their obsession of filling her up, and ensuring she ends up pregnant with their child.
Plus them two being boyfriends was the cherry on top, it made it even more perfect, and had me on an intense chokehold.

I honestly don't think I'll get over how amazing this was. No complaints apart from, I WISH IT WAS LONGER.

Yes. Yes. LOVE love LOVE. This book was hilarious, cheeky, and downright filthy in the best possible way. While it’s not the most realistic setup, I appreciated how much emphasis was placed on consent, communication, and that delicious yearning.

The waiting game between them? Torture but like, in the fun way. It dragged just enough to make me desperate but ended before I was ready to let go. Honestly, I wish we’d had a few more moments between the trio before the relationship fully kicked in, just to make it feel a little more earned. That said, I was completely obsessed.

It had all of May Alder’s signature kinks, which means the smut? 🔥🔥🔥 On fire. The dynamic between the two MMCs and the FMC was so much fun to read and their little “games” had me screaming and sweating like I’d run a marathon.

I also loved that the story didn’t unfold the way I expected. It surprised me in the best ways, and the chemistry? Unmatched.

TL;DR: Filthy, funny, and full of tension. If you love smut with heart, humor, and a trio that can’t keep their hands (or eyes) off each other, this one’s for you.

Received book as ARC, the following review is my honest opinion.

I will start off saying that my preference is usually mfm or mf, mainly all the attention is on the woman. The only other author I will read regardless of the theme is Jessa Kane and now I can add May Alder to this list.

All the main characters Corinne and her Uncles Declan and Kason (no blood relations) were all attracted to each but felt either it was wrong or unsure of how the other would feel about it. I liked how Corinne went after want she wanted, but also did not want to be in a relationship if the other person was not fully committed.

Uncle Declan cares about Corinne but tries to find a replacement but going on dates not successfully because he can’t remember who they are and on the other spectrum Uncle Kason prefers to just be single on the sidelines if he can’t have the one or ones? he wants.

This is a short good book and I read it in one sitting. It is written in a way that draws you in and keeps you wanting to know how it comes together. Another good one May!

I always get so excited when @authormayalder releases another book because I love her content and I just know whatever it is will be a fun read! I admit that while I enjoy her full length novels, I can’t get enough of these cheeky novelettes and Pretend I’m Yours is no exception!
This novelette hits some of my favorite tropes - breeding, age gap, taboo, and crossing swords. This is mostly a quick spicy read but it does deal with some bi-awakening and trying to navigate how to be a family despite the outside perception of your relationship.
If I have any complaints at all it’s that I wish it was longer! The ending is exactly what I would have liked to see expanded on, but I get that it would be difficult to do and still maintain a novelette.

I swear May’s books are always going to be an immediate yes. ADD TO CART & gimme more! May did not disappoint with this one. The sword crossing, age gap, & breeding smink 🥵 Kason is hot & knows what he wants immediately, Declan while hesitant was testing those limits and it had me on the edge of my seat hoping to have him cross that line, & then my sweet baby Corrine falling head over heels in love with both of these men like girllll i understand it because i wouldn’t be able to chose either. The added bonus on top of it all being that the guys have a longing for each other & they don’t know that the other feels the same wayyyy like ughhh May!!! I need more of these in the future for sure because hello hotness 🤭

I've liked some of the novelette's in this series (connected by theme/format, not an actual series that needs to be read in order)... or rather, some of the steam, and I did like some of the steamy bits/kinks in this one, but despite the blurb saying the spice is the plot there really isn't all that much steam in this one, with more story or conversations or whatever, and when that happens in this short of a story it is not long enough for proper development - especially for three people who supposedly have emotional connections - and not steamy enough to be a proper dirty short. For this particular story, the elements (age gap, dad's best friends, somno, MMF) are intriguing enough that I would want it to be expanded into something that would support the ideas and characters, as well as the steam, but as it is all of it was shortchanged.

Oh my sugar! 😍 I am a huge fan of May Alder’s and her Cheeky Novelettes are some of my most favorite palate cleansers and easy reads but this one takes the cake (you’ll get that reference soon enough)!

Nothing screams delicious quite like this trio of Corinne, Declan, and Kason. Declan and Kason are in their 40s and want nothing more than to settle down and have some babies of their own while Corinne is their 21 year old “niece” who’s in school and wants something from both men who have loved and cared for her her whole life.

Bi-awakenings, lots of love, and top tier spice make this ride one sweet as sugar!

Sugar and Spice - May Alder always comes through! I always love slipping into the small town feel where I know everything is going to turn out juuuuuuuuuust right. With a bit of yearning and mischief along the way, of course.

Although I have to say, I felt a little personally offended (lol) for the 'strawberry-blonde short-stack' that Declan is disinterested in, as a strawberry-blonde short-stack myself!

Corinne’s story of grief and forbidden comfort blossoms into a tender triad where her father’s best friends experience their own bi-awakening. The balance of sweetness and sin is perfection — soft moments woven through unapologetic desire. And those breeding and lactation kinks? Absolutely divine. A quick, filthy, feel-everything kind of read that leaves you smiling and maybe a little wrecked in the best way.
May Alder is the queen of older man, younger woman taboo spice and my only complaint is that this book isn’t nearly long enough. I NEED more!!

We meet Corin, who's in love with her uncles, Declan and Kason, who have cared for her since her father's death (a relationship without blood ties). She feels her feelings aren't reciprocated, but she can't help loving them both. Declan and Kason, in turn, feel a special connection with each other, and also with Corin. She'll do everything she can to show them how happy they can be. What will happen the night the boundaries between the three of them become increasingly blurred?💞

Pretend I’m Yours is a short and spicy novelette. Declan and Kason were Corinne’s dad’s best friends. Corinne is in college, and the attraction between the three grows until it culminates one night, which leads to a happily ever after for all of them.

One thing I like about May Alder is that I know what I’m getting when I download one of her books. There’s going to be an age gap, some taboo element, it’s going to be a little over the top, and there’s going to be spice. Pretend I’m Yours has all of this.

Ahh, this book was such a great read! I devoured it the second it hit my Kindle!

Declan, Kason, and Corinne’s story was hot, hot, HOT! I normally shy away from “why choose” books, but my god, I need more of these three!!

Even though this book was only a novella, I felt like it had such a great, in-depth plot and didn’t just feel like rushed smut! (But my god, did the smut in this book have me blushing... a lot!)

I highly, highly recommend this book, and if you haven’t already jumped on the May Alder train, what the hell are you waiting for?!?!
