The Haunting Season: A Ghostly Reverse Harem Halloween Novella

Rate this book
Inheriting a haunted Victorian mansion wasn't on Adela's post-divorce bucket list—but neither was falling for three devastatingly handsome ghosts.

After a soul-crushing divorce, Adela escapes to Calmar Manor, the crumbling estate her great-aunt left her. She expects cobwebs and solitude. What she gets? Three gorgeous spirits who've been waiting decades for the right woman to break their curse.

Joseph — The smooth-talking 1920s bootlegger with silver eyes and skillful hands who makes her morning coffee appear like magic.

Will — The protective 1950s rebel with a motorcycle and a hero complex who watches her in the shower (and she doesn't want him to stop).

Alecsander — The tortured 1980s rock star whose music makes her body hum and whose creativity extends far beyond his guitar.

They can barely touch her at first—phantom caresses that leave her aching for more. But as Halloween approaches, they grow stronger, more solid, more desperate. There's a ritual that could bring them back to life, but it requires complete vulnerability, absolute trust, and a love powerful enough to transcend death itself.

The problem? Adela's spent eight years building walls around her heart. And tearing them down might destroy the very men she's learning to love.

Can three ghosts teach one broken woman that she deserves to be worshipped? Or will Halloween dawn with nothing but empty halls and shattered hearts?

Some hauntings are worth the risk...

Tik tok showed me this one and honestly? Better than I expected!

It's a fast-paced novella with insta-lust/love pretty much from the jump, and it's very open-door descriptions for the first handful of chapters (and then sort of sprinkled theoughout the rest), exactly what I was expecting. What I was not expecting was the surprisingly deep and emotional moments between Adela and each of the ghosts, from descriptions of their final moments to the fear of failure and abandonment she was feeling. I laughed and cried and giggled and kicked my feet. It was just a fun little weekend read with more stakes than expected but with decent payoff for those stakes (also, the healthy therapy session at the end was also a nice surprise).

My two minor complaints about this book are that 1) I think it could have benefitted from one more pass through of edits (a couple minor points where the day was funky, and only noticeable because dates were listed at the top of each chapter and a couple places where there was repetition of phrases), and 2) I know it's a novella so it had to stay condensed, but I think it would have been beneficial to have probably 50 more pages to expand out the days so we could see the characters interact more (it's all from Adela's POV, but I think it would have been nest to see more of the dynamic between the three ghosts).

Overall, like I said, a fun read!

There really wasn’t much storyline to this book and I know it’s a novella but I wanted so much more. I wanted to understand how they all were sent to that house, why was she their person, how did the magic work, why didn’t it work before for the other ghosts? Idk I have so many questions and wanted so much more. But the spice was absolutely amazing that’s for sure. A good little Halloween kinda book. Not sad I read it just not my favorite novella. Still worth the read if you’re down for paranormal romance with little to no storyline lol.

Loved the story. It wasn’t just pure smut for the sake of smut. Yes there were lots of slice, but it slowly built up over the book, and it was with purpose to drive the story. Loved Adela, she was real and had flaws. She has been broken and has scars, and has built walls over the years. Loved the guys. They are all unique and bring something to the table. Great ending, wish it was longer.

The Haunting

I have read several books about ghosts, and most have been well written and interesting. This story takes it to another level. I don’t want to give any spoilers but this one is unique and I really enjoyed it. I fell in love with all the characters and I definitely recommend this book.

I enjoyed this WAAYYYY more than I should have. 🥵Paranormal usually isn’t my thing or novellas because they are always so rushed, but my brain needed a short spicy read that didn’t require me to think about anything and this was it! sorry not sorry… 4 ⭐️

The story delivered exactly what the blurb promised. The spice was limited but fitting for this type of novella. Overall, a quick, enjoyable standalone to fill the gap before diving into the next reverse harem series.

it’s ok

The book is 160 pages but it took me forever to read. It’s not bad. For a short story it has plenty of spiciness to it. I just couldn’t get into it.
