What awaits before you is not just a story, but a historical account of fear, terror, and spine-chilling Halloween tales. You will now enter the realm of monsters. A realm where teeth are sharp as razors, where eyes are black as night, where tentacles protrude from faces, and skin is covered in slime. A realm where you will find a group of monsters that call themselves Tricksters. Each Halloween the Tricksters transform homes on Earth into portals to their Haunted Escape Room Houses. Then they wait. They wait for the teenagers that thought they could have one more night to go Trick 'R Treating. And when a teenager shows up, all it takes is a knock, then the horrors begin.
Volume 1 in the "Tricksters" series of YA / Children's mystery-haunted house fiction; I gave this book new to me at my local library (Niles, Michigan) a try and was pleased with its humor and brief story (184 pages). I am not the "target demographic" for this Youth 2025 romp through a "haunted" escape room and middle school but I found its format and content well worth a read. The author from N. Indiana (Elkhart, IN) has included some memorable "notes to the reader" and opted to include great artwork by his illustrator E. Yuda Wahyudiangga. I found the 33 chapters to be a fun-read and hope that many others enjoy it as well. This author has a Meet 'n Greet at the "Small Business" Saturday for Authors EVENT scheduled here in Berrien County very soon [ web link : ndlibrary.com ] 5* out of 5
