Memories of you

She was mine long before she knew it. I was hers before I was born. Our souls wandered for centuries to find each other. And only when they finally found each other - they lost themselves forever.

This is not just a love story or a story with a happy ending.
This is a story where there are no winners - only those who lose. It’s a story about how sometimes love simply isn’t enough, and sometimes, it never was. It’s a story about how love heals and breaks at the same time.
It brings hearts together and takes the air from your lungs. It inspires and it destroys.

This is the story I wrote about her.

A story without a happy ending.

My name is James Torrance, and this is the story of my life.

Wow. This book deserves way more.
I loved the idea how this is the notebook that the MMC wrote. It was beautiful. The story was dragging and it felt like I was really in someone’s mind.

The story itself is great. I loved the ending. I love the characters. And I really wouldn’t a change.

There are two tiny things:

He says they’re only shared class or math and biology, but suddenly they also share all their classes

They say ‘years’ but it = one year

Also, I think the author could’ve used more pages to describe the last. chapter (that would have been my only adjustment).
Apart from that, I loved this book.

I just finished reading Memories of You by Elly Ryats, and I’m still trying to process everything it made me feel. As a new author, Ryats completely surprised me. I didn’t expect such an emotional and beautifully written story, but it honestly stayed with me long after I turned the last page.

The book follows James and Betty, and from the very beginning, I felt connected to them. Their relationship develops in such a natural and genuine way that it almost feels real. It’s not just about big romantic moments, but also the little details, the conversations, the memories, the quiet scenes, that make you fall in love with their story.

What I loved the most is how the book makes you feel safe and warm at first, like you’re reading a comforting love story… and then everything changes. Little by little, the tone shifts, and before you even realize it, your heart is completely involved. And the ending… I truly didn’t see it coming. It completely broke me.

This is one of those books that makes you smile, fall in love, and then leaves you emotional and thoughtful. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys deep love stories that stay with you even after you finish reading.

This book was a beautiful and emotional story about love loss and the way memories shape a life. The story follows characters who are trying to move forward while still holding on to the past. Each chapter slowly reveals pieces of their history and shows why their bond matters so much. The author takes time to show the pain of old wounds and the hope that comes from healing. The scenes feel very real and the emotions feel honest. I cared about the characters and wanted them to find peace.

The heart of this book is the way memories can both hurt and comfort a person. The main characters spend much of the story facing moments they once tried to forget. Through these moments they learn more about each other and about themselves. The writing is warm and thoughtful which makes the quiet moments just as strong as the dramatic ones. The ending feels earned and leaves a sense of hope. This was a touching story about love forgiveness and the lasting power of memories. I would gladly read more from this author.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I got this as an ARC but am super late to review as life has been going on around me too quickly!

Demolished this book in about 2 hours! The meaning behind this is everything. Seeing how James holds on to Betty throughout the years is heartbreaking. I’m so glad I have read this book as it has put a lot of things into perspective for me.

The ending had me so upset! It was so well written and really pulls at the heart strings.

Thank you for the opportunity to read your book!

This isn’t a love story with a happy ending - it’s a story about what happens when love exists but still isn’t enough. It’s raw, painful, and devastatingly honest.

You don’t read this book - you *experience* it. You ache with it. You grieve with it. And when it ends, you’re left staring at the last page, wondering how something so beautiful could hurt so much.

And Elly truly has written a beautiful, almost poetic, story.

Writing this review through tears 😭

Such a beautiful and emotional story of true love, loss and grief. This is not your typical love story but in fact a story that so many of us can relate to - how memories can carry us through life. I will be thinking about James and Betty for a long time to come 🥹

Elly is a beautiful writer and I cannot wait to read more of her books!

Love like no other?

This was a tough read. The extent of love in turmoil. Dysfunctional psych, one mind, one love, torn heart, ravaged memories.
Sadness Madness...
