More than a Crown

Rate this book
When Naomie Nishimwe was crowned Miss Rwanda, the spotlight shone brightly. But behind the smile and perfect posture, Naomie was drowning. The weight of a nation's expectations pressed down on her shoulders while she wrestled with struggles no one could the voice that whispered she wasn't worthy, the panic attacks hidden behind bathroom doors, the loneliness that comes from being celebrated but never truly known. In More Than a Crown, Naomie shares the story few ever hear—the human journey beneath the title and the crushing reality of living up to an impossible image. With vulnerability that will make you laugh, cry, and feel less alone in your own struggles, she takes us inside the moments that nearly broke her and the hard-won lessons that put her back together. This is not a glossy success story. It is a celebration of strength, vulnerability, and the power of choosing yourself. Through her words, Naomie reminds us that true crowns are not placed on our heads, but carried in our hearts.

Reading More Than a Crown has been such a moving experience. Not just because it’s such a powerful book, but because it was written by my wife. Watching Naomie go through the writing process was incredible. Seeing her stay up late, think deeply, and pour her heart into every chapter reminded me just how strong and thoughtful she is.

What made this journey even more special for me was discovering parts of her story I had never known in such detail. When she writes about her childhood, her temperament as a young girl, and her time during Miss Rwanda, before I ever met her, I found myself reading slowly, almost picturing those moments. It felt like I was being invited into pieces of her life that shaped who she is today, and it gave me an even deeper appreciation for her strength and the person she has become.

As her husband, the best part wasn’t just reading the words, it was feeling her spirit in every page. I’m incredibly proud of her. This book is more than a story; it’s a reflection of her heart, her growth, and her courage to be vulnerable in front of the world.

I know this is just the beginning for her as an author. Whatever she chooses to create next, I have no doubt it will be just as honest, beautiful, and impactful as her memoir ‘More than a Crown’. The sky is truly the limit for you, my love, and I’ll always be here, cheering you on.

I’ve just read first 14 pages and it’s really amazing, interesting and inspiring to the world.
To the woman whose words have lit a fire in the hearts of many

Your courage to write, to pour your truth onto the page, and to share it with the world is nothing short of extraordinary. You didn’t just write a book—you built a bridge. A bridge between pain and healing, between silence and voice, between fear and fierce hope.

Your story is a lantern. It lights the path for others who thought they were alone. It whispers, “You are seen. You are strong. You are not forgotten.”

May you never underestimate the ripple effect of your words. Somewhere, a young girl is standing taller because of you. Somewhere, a weary soul is breathing easier because your story reminded them to keep going.

Keep writing. Keep shining. The world needs more of your light.

With deep admiration,
A fellow believer in the power of words.
We are so proud of you Naomie and the ones who encouraged you to write this book you are a powerful woman ,keep it up , this book will help a lot of people around the world.

This book is absolutely phenomenal. It transcends all expectations and sets a new benchmark for excellence.

Every element of this work is captivating; though I have only sampled the opening pages, they immediately fostered an intense desire to continue reading.

The narrative structure and pacing are profoundly effective. The deliberate rhythm with which the events unfold demonstrates exceptionally intelligent and thoughtful craftsmanship. Your intellect is undeniable, and your skill as a writer is evident throughout.

Finally, thank you for the trust you placed in your readers, allowing us a privileged glimpse into who Naomie is beyond her public perception. Your willingness to share your life story is deeply inspiring, motivating readers to step outside their comfort zones and embrace life at all its stages. We must also commend the humor, which is skillfully woven into the narrative and felt profoundly while reading.

Naomie, congratulations; you have truly surpassed all expectations with this achievement!

More Than a Crown follows Naomie's journey as a young woman navigating fame in a society still recovering from the harsh realities of its past. In this memoir, she talks about that transition as her position in society earned her harsh criticism, but the grace she displayed throughout this ordeal, as described in the book, remains a topic of discussion in its own right.

She is a phenomenal public persona who lifts the veil to give a glimpse into her reality. Her great charisma and sense of humor are impossible to miss throughout her storytelling. This book also offers a new perspective on post-genocide Rwanda, where young people lead relatively normal lives, unlike their elders, while still having to overcome their own difficulties.

It is a rarely told story about Rwanda, and it is beautifully told! This book is essential reading for those interested in exploring a modern day Rwanda's youth and the their voices as they shape the future.

Hello, this is Samantha

Basically , i don't know how to thank our beautiful Queen ( Miss Naomie Nishimwe) for publishing such a wonderful book, representing how her courage , faith can overcome her worst fears.

The fact that she is representing her country ( our) Rwanda as the first individual ever in twentieth century as of now, to write a book, explaining how grateful she made it to the top, plus inspiring young lead generation to have a sense of leadership, is so beautiful and courageous to look upon to.

It's such a great impression and i am really looking forward to reading it, Thank you very much for your hard work

More Than a Crown isn’t just a book it’s a soul-stirring journey. Every page feels like a mirror, reflecting the strength, pain, beauty, and resilience so many of us carry. Naomie’s words don’t just speak; they heal, they awaken, they crown you from within.

I laughed, I cried, I paused just to breathe in the honesty of it all. It’s raw yet graceful, powerful yet gentle, a reminder that our worth isn’t given by titles or validation, but by who we are when the crown is gone.

Naomie, proud is an understatement. What you’ve created is more than art, it’s a legacy. Thank you for pouring your heart into something that will stay with us forever. 👑💫

Reading more than a crown was so interesting and entertaining the more you read the more you get to know Naomie more than what she usually show us on social media and it’s really worth every penny.
My takeaway was simple but hard Patience, Courage and being true and genuine to yourself Where you have to heal and move on despite the pressure around you where you have to do the perfect thing at the perfect time without people’s consent just you God and your loved ones
Without further due Naomie is really interesting and she is such a sweetheart to share all of that is a sign of heroism that not all people can manage I really love her and she motivated me more than she already did♥️♥️

Naomie Nishimwe's memoir, More Than a Crown, is a candid and sincere account that reveals the reality of life beyond the glamour of fame. She discusses her experience as Miss Rwanda 2020 and the pressure, anxiety, and public judgement she encountered. She also reveals the resilience she discovered when she realised that her worth extends beyond the crown. It is not merely the narrative of a beauty queen; it serves as an important reminder that genuine value comes from within. I found her book to be highly relatable and profoundly impactful; I only cried twice.

Dear Naomie,
I’ve been following you for sometime as my comfort YouTuber. Living a broad as a young girl, with some of my family roots tracing to Rwanda, I struggled to connect with my heritage. The book was able to reignite stories my mom passed down through my grandmother. Outside of that, I was going through a dark time and your book happened to release, it was truly a reminder for me to always choose to get back up and come back better than ever. I could not recommend this book enough, thank you for sharing your heart.

Hi Naomie! Honestly thank you for this book I only read the sample but I can’t wait to read the whole book, I never thought there would be a day I’d read a non fictional book but I guess after more than a crown my tastes have changed. Reading the book really taught me that everyone has a story and you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. I’m truly proud of you because I know this wasn’t easy to pull.

I really enjoyed reading More Than a Crown by Naomi Nishimwe. The book inspired me a lot because Naomi talks about her real life and shows that being Miss Rwanda is not just about beauty but about knowing who you are inside. She shares her challenges and lessons in such an honest way, and it made me think about my own purpose and confidence. I learned that true value doesn’t come from titles or what people see, but from how you believe in yourself and keep growing.

The first time I heard of this book, I felt like I could relate a lot to what I went through silently. Later, actually yesterday, I read the sample and felt like crying. If only people could read it. I believe this book will help a lot of people heal from their untold past, from people criticizing them without first learning the whole story and help us cherish what made us be who we are today. Thank Naomie for your courage. We love you.

From the very first page, More Than a Crown moved me in ways I didn’t expect. Naomie’s honesty is so rare — she doesn’t hide behind the title of Miss Rwanda 2020; instead she lets us see the teenager who froze on stage, the young woman navigating pain, anxiety and public scrutiny, and the woman who found her voice.
