Review to come when I can stop the tears. I have so many feelings. Ruby Roe is what lesbian romance deserves.
More words will come to me after my heart rate settles down. I’ll be back.. just gotta sit in a corner and console myself that book two is coming… it’s coming.. it’ll come soon.

Okay babes, let’s talk about Architecti (Deals of Dark Descent #1) by Ruby Roe because WOW—this book absolutely wrecked me. Ruby Roe really said, “I’m going to hand you a sapphic romantasy that’s equal parts seductive, devastating, and impossible to put down,” and then she delivered it with a cliffhanger so sharp I’m still bleeding.

First off, the chemistry between Mercedes Midnight and Lucy Corvine? Off. The. Charts. Like, we’re not even talking slow simmer—we’re talking inferno in candlelit libraries, smoldering glances that feel like they could set the gothic campus itself on fire, and banter that drips with tension and danger. Add in the fact that Lucy is the devil’s daughter and Midnight is basically on a soul-clock countdown to hell, and every single interaction is laced with high stakes and forbidden deliciousness.

Now let’s talk spice. BROKE. THE. SCALE. Honestly, if you’re looking for a book that blends dark academia, morally grey heroines, forbidden professor-student dynamics, and the kind of steam that makes you fan yourself mid-chapter—this is it. Roe doesn’t just give you spice for spice’s sake; she uses it to heighten intimacy, to raise the stakes, and to peel back the armor these two women wear. It’s intoxicating and it hurts in the best way.

But beyond the fire and temptation, the storytelling here is masterful. Roe proves once again why she’s the absolute queen of sapphic romantasy— THE QUEEN, I SAY!!! The worldbuilding is lush and shadowy, filled with cursed contracts, secret cults, and a city teetering on celestial war. Her character work is just as brilliant—both Midnight and Lucy are complex, flawed, and achingly human (well, and devilish). Their arcs had me on the edge of my seat, gripping the book like it might disappear if I let go.

I refuse to spoil anything, but let me tell you—you’re going to gasp, rage, cry, clutch your chest, stare into the void, and maybe even scream into a pillow. This book doesn’t just take you on a ride; it drags you down into the depths of the Veil and makes you love every second of it. And then, just when you think you’ve survived, that ending comes along and destroys you all over again.

If you’re brave enough (and you should be), dive headfirst into Architecti. It’s wildly brilliant, devastatingly hot, and absolutely unforgettable. I cannot WAIT for the second installment—I’m already perched on the edge of my seat, begging Ruby Roe to wreck me again.

Thank you to Ruby Roe for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

September 2025 never felt so far away...
*updated and read*
Love love love and also fucking devastated cos WTF is this ending/cliff hanger.

I waited long enough for this to drop, I was definitely satisfied and got everything I expected from one of my favourite authors. I’m not even 100% sure I understood the complexity of the contracts that took place and each event leading to such a monumental ending. The bonds between the characters get increasingly complex as we learn more about the how’s and why’s of their contracts being created. But I recognise that my excitement probably displaced some of my understanding so I will hopefully get a chance to re read even though my ‘want to read’ lists continue to grow.

Still 10/10 even though I have questions 👌🏾

I received this ARC in exchange for my own honest review.

Firstly, wow….just wow. Ruby Roe, did it again. Honestly outstanding work! This book was everything I hoped for and more!! Obviously this one is a little different than her last books, but in the best way. These characters have no previous experience of each other (unlike Ruby’s previous books), so obviously the romance in slow burn but the book, I can 100% guarantee you is nothing of a slow burn! It’s packed with plot, character development and that wanting and lusting we all love on page! I love me some dark humour too 🤣. Plus having some familiar faces make an appearance was the cherry on top!

A moment of silence for the smut…..okay, that’s enough. If you’ve read Ruby’s books, you know the spice is top tier! So she set the bar high, and my god did she deliver in this book!! 11 incredible spicy scenes, each one better than the last. I was legit giddy and kicking my feet at some scenes!!

“I think you should tell Daddy every single sordid thought that ran through that beautiful head of yours.” 🫠😈🥵 Yes, Please!!!!

Another thing Ruby does so well is tell more than one story in her books, it’s that undercurrent of something else going on that makes you want to take note and delve deep into the story!
I felt like I was on the edge the whole book of figuring out what was going to happen but not quite there. Which in all honesty is just great storytelling! I was eating up them breadcrumbs and felt close constantly to figuring it out before the characters did. But then also feeling two steps behind! It was amazing and I felt so immersed!!

Brilliant! Masterpiece! Can’t wait for book two because that cliffhanger….was brutal!

Written in first person with 2x POV’s. Age Gap (11), Student/Teacher, Forbidden Romance, Touch Her and Die. 11x Spicy Scenes.

That was a rough one for me, considering it took me a month to finish it. I adore Ruby Roe, but I feel like this was rushed and not fully thought out in terms of world building and character development. This was not horrible, by any means, but it wasn’t great. There was very little differentiation between Lucy and Midnight and many times I had to go back to the beginning of the chapter to figure out whose voice I was reading. The super short sentences weren’t helpful with giving either Lucy or Midnight their own voice.

I didn’t get a full picture of the world building and that took away from my enjoyment. Maybe more of that will come in book 2, at least I certainly hope so. Part of the fun for me with Ruby’s books is that the smut is usually so over the top, ridiculous and outrageous. This one just didn’t have the same feel as Girl Games or Immortal Lovers, but maybe my expectations were too high.

I didn’t hate it by any means, I was just…..underwhelmed.

Okay, let me start by saying that I had to scratch my eyes out at the kink gergo as it is not my taste, but to each their own right? Apart from that the scenes were scorching hot as usual.

Said that, I fucking love how Ruby Roe manages to suck you in a story that you absolutely want to keep going and going until... 2026? It won't come soon enough! I need to know what happens next!!!

Angels, demons and mortals in a dark academia setting with a full of twists plot? Fate and free will... Falling angels... mortals selling their soul for an admirable cause... damn.

A doomed love story... poor my heart.

My heart broke (for now), but I know it will be stitched back together...

The countdown has started.

Tick... tock...tick... tock...

Better make it up to us, Ruby Roe!

Holy shit. Where do I start? Ruby Roe does NOT miss. Once again, she’s written a fucking masterpiece.

Did I read it in less than 7 hours the day ARCs got sent out? Yes.
Was it completely worth it? Also yes.

Everything about the book was incredible. Midnight and her cocky demeanor, Lucy and her two facets, and everything else was just spot on.

I loved the side characters. Lex and Bastien were great foils to Midnight's seriousness and Lucy's rigidity in following the rules.

Going in, I knew this was a Ruby Roe book, and I expected inferno levels of heat, but she out did herself with the spice.
Every scene was a 15/10, 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Amazing, no notes. Please continue in the next book.

It’s always fun to see an author reference their other books, and Ruby did not disappoint. The shoutouts were so much fun!

I know I'm going to need a re-read before the second book in the duology drops, but that just means I get to dive in all over again. And I am ecstatic to do so.

Like I told Ruby: 20/10, 15⭐, no notes, no criticism. Shattered my heart, but please put it back together in the next book.

O…M…G.!! I can’t write a full review yet. I have to sit in this a bit.

But I must say that the narration by Allie Rose, Vivienne LaRue and Aria Holland was OUTSTANDING - as with all of Ruby Roe’s books. She always hires the best.

This was a slow build for me, but by the end, I was SO INVESTED! Wow. Just wow.

Hmm

I may be an outlier with what I’m about to say.. but I didn’t care much about Lucy and Midnight for the end to hit me emotionally. Idk, something just felt surface level and missing with them for me. Perhaps I’ll have to reread it once the second book is out which I’m excited for because our angel twins are soooo interesting to me so I can’t wait to see how everything will tie together and play out. This was basically the set up so I’m expecting good results!

Cannot believe the author warns us about the word pussy when the word Daddy is in here about a million times….. no thanks. I NEVER want to see that word in a lesbian book ever again. But unfortunately I will read just about anything that’s described as lesbian dark academia.

I never expected this to be a life changing book, but I am surprised that my issues with the book are mostly about the romance, which is what everyone else seems to be praising it for. The character development and chemistry between the couple is severely lacking. They barely speak to outside of having sex and all of a sudden they’re claiming they’re in love. The development of them as a couple is so nonexistent that I don’t think they’d know the first thing about each other. They don’t spend ANY time getting to know each other and that doesn’t only apply to them but also the friends. Midnight makes 2 new friends on her first day at the academy and their introduction is so rushed and dramatic that they behave like lifelong friends who would die for each other within the first 10 minutes of them meeting. Every relationship (romantic and platonic) feels so rushed that they all get so unconvincing.
Surprisingly, the thing that kept me reading was the world and the story of the 2 sisters (even though the worldbuilding could’ve been improved too)

in general I think i liked it, the story of the two angles like sisters as the backbone of everything that unfolds on the campus. I'm still a bit confused, but i think it will all make sense in the next book. it was weird to see the countdown above the start of the chapters for midnight, cause she has only a year (sometimes too fast?). she wanted to be the best student and cancel her contract she has with the father of Lucy (which meant she would die)
the two fell in love, however if lucy would confess, her demon powers would disappear and be placed in Midnight.
then, there were also the roommates/friends of Midnight, who were properly introduced. but it felt like they were mainly left out of the story, until they would have a use in the research to the contract of Lucy.
oh, and the cat. he was very talkative at first, at the end he only meowed? but i liked that she added a cat!

This book really felt like I was reading a first draft which is very disappointed because I've read other books of the same author. It felt like it was all Pinterest/TikTok vibes and the development of the world, plot, and characters depended on the reader being super immersed in those generic vibes ('tags') so pretty much what you would expect from a romantasy but this time it was just bland. There was nothing that stood out, the character development was nowhere to be found, some elements of the world didn't make sense at all and the world itself was barely paid attention to (like in what world do you have motorcycles but then people use carriages for transport???). So so many elements of the character's personalities and interactions, as well as the world, were placed there purely for vibes and adding to the 'coolness' of the whole thing.

Wow. Ruby Roe does it again! I absolutely loved Architecti!

I was very lucky to receive an ARC of Architecti. Ruby Roe’s storytelling is phenomenal—engaging, immersive, and impossible to put down. The pacing was just right, and the world she built felt so vivid. The spice was perfection as always. I have come to the conclusion that there is spice… and then there is Ruby Roe spice 🥵. The chemistry between our two main characters was electric. What really stood out to me, though, was the character journeys — every character felt layered and real, and I found myself completely invested in all of them. This is the kind of book that pulls you in with its intensity and keeps you invested with its heart. The cliffhanger was absolutely brutal, but I expect nothing less from Ruby. I am now in the biggest reading slump of my life. This was such an addictive read, and I can’t wait for book 2!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 — Architecti by ruby roe

listen ruby roe is my woman. my comfort author. the reason i still believe romance books can fix my soul after a long week 😭 i’ve read everything she’s ever written and she’s never missed a beat for me… until this one. now don’t get me wrong it’s not bad. not at all! the writing? still stunning. she could write a grocery list and i’d still read it. OBVIOUSLY. chemistry? ohhh baby. that was alive and well. the spice scenes were so good LIKE SO SO GOOD!!!!! like blush and grin good. COOOLD SHOWER NEEDED GOOD. i was giggling and kicking my feet at a few points i won’t lie 😭 but something about the story itself just… didn’t click.? i kept waiting for that signature ruby roe emotional gut punch, that moment where i’m clutching my chest like “oh THIS is why i read her” but it never really came. :(((( the plot felt kinda floaty like it wanted to be deep and layered but ended up just… there. not boring exactly but not gripping either. YK???? i wasn’t counting down the minutes to pick it back up, y’know? i was actually very fine not reading AND ITS NOT THE FEELING I SEARCH FOR. I WANT THE BOOK TO DEVOUR MY SOUL. the main characters were fine actually cute, flirty, solid chemistry and all but the side characters… idk they tried to have personality and depth but there just wasn’t enough sprinkle of sparkle to make them feel alive.? the thunder & lightning shit apparently wasnt strong enough to keep them living 😭😭 i kept forgetting their names halfway through 😭 and i usually love her side casts! the romance was sweet, but a bit too safe like it had potential to hit hard but it just skimmed the surface. i wanted more feeling, more heartbreak, more “oh my god they’re meant for each other and i’m crying at 2 a.m.” and instead i got “aw that’s dramatic lesbian vibes yeyy :)” so yeah not terrible but for ruby roe standards? THE WOMAN WHO IN MY MIND HAS HER OWN SCALE LIKE ON A SCALEEEE FROM RUBY ROE TO NORMAL BORING BASIC AUTHOR?? it missed the mark a bit. still fun still spicy still beautifully written just not the masterpiece i expected. i still love her, i still worship her pen, and i will absolutely read the next one i just hope it punches me in the heart again like the old days 🥹💔🫶

Just finished Architecti...OMFG!! Whaaaaaa?!??!!? I can't even!!

I devoured it so fast, I literally had a whiplash!

And the cliffhanger?!?! What the whaaat?! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

WHYYYYYY do I have to wait until 2026??!?!?!! It's bloody torture, that's why!!

It's official. Even though we're not at the end of October yet but Architecti is my fave book of the month in 2025, hands down. Solid.

I went in with zero knowledge about any of it even after reading the synopsis & liking all your adverts. It's like my brain refused to retain any of it bc subconsciously, I really wanted to read and experience it without any preconception. Why? I just had a feeling that it'd give me an ultimate THRILL when I began my Architecti journey...

WHAT. A. GEM.

Ruby Roe, you've outdone yourself again!! This. THIS. It's your BEST, MOST BRILLIANT work yet, mate!!! BIG CONGRATS!!

If you twist me arm to spill the beans, I'd say...

"It's a Scythe-meets-Hazbin Hotel-meets-Harry Potter but...
GAY AF
and...
C'est ÉROTIQUE
and...
Chemistry so INTENSE and INTOXICATING you just don't know what to do with yourself except to...
PLEAD with Ruby Roe to hurry up with the next one before we all COMBUST!! Aaaaaarrghhh!!!"

And don't even get me started on the gloriously vivid, visually (Roe's descriptive writing will have you SEE everything in your mind's eye!) stunning worldbuilding, so immersive I thought I was there half the time! It's brilliant!

The entire journey, with all the thrills, the twists.... SO wickedly FUN, so ADDICTIVE, so INTENSE it'll leave you gasping for air and wanting MORE!! Oh, trust me! You'll see what I mean when you read and found out for yourselves! Me, I'm gonna be re-reading it multiple times until the sequel, Interitus, comes out!! Gaaah! I hate waiting!

Anyway...

5++, readers. End of.

Now let's see about the audiobook, eh? Bring it!

I can't recommend this highly enough because it is most definitely a MUST-READ!! Like NOW!! GO!

This book just wasn't my cup of tea. I don't usually read Romance/ Romantasy so take my opinion on board with that knowledge.

If you're a fan of, spice heavy romance that heats up with little notice or build up and you're not looking for a complex fantasy world for that plot to be rooted in, you'll probably enjoy this.

The style of writing here just wasn't for me. I felt like there wasn't a slow build up of sensation/eroticism. Which led to me as a reader feeling jarred and disconnected from the main characters POV and experience throughout the book.

I feel like the character development and the romantic plot development is lacking. Our main characters basically only speak when they are being intimate with each other. I understand in fantasy and fiction you have to suspend your disbelief a little for the plot but I feel like it was a huge stretch to fall in love with a stranger like that. I would feel differently if Ruby Roe had, at least implied that they were seeing each other,/ going on dates between love scenes but she didn't. This seems to be a theme in the writing of this book because I also hold this criticism for the friends Midnight makes at the academy. They become besties out of nowhere with no real time spent showing the development of that friendship or the layers of shared experiences that forge their connection.

I feel like the world building could have been improved. There are many elements that simply didn't make sense to me and the world felt really flat and fake. The most obvious and glaring example is the transport they use. sometimes it mentions use of a carriage, sometimes a motorcycle. There is no explanation of where this book is supposed to be rooted in time and why these two seemingly polarising pieces of technology are regularly used by two people in the same society.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 & very spicy 🌶

📚 ARC Review 📚 Thanks to the author for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

One year left to live: is that the best or worst possible time to fall in love?

This is the question at the heart of this captivating novel, told through the dual first-person perspectives of Midnight and Lucy. Midnight is a reaper and student, while Lucy is a demon and professor. What begins as a one-night stand soon develops into a full academic year together at Finis Academy 👀🔥

The story weaves together magic, moths, demons, angels, and immersive world-building, all underpinned by the revelation that both protagonists are bound by soul-woven contracts.

From the outset, there is an eerie sense of foreboding, as both women count down towards a fate they seem powerless to escape. Trapped in these contracts, they find themselves caught between saving their souls and realising that their supposedly no-strings arrangement is growing into something far deeper and more meaningful 💫

As the story unfolds, we follow Midnight and Lucy’s struggle to break free from deadly control and oppression, aided by a host of endearing side characters (and a cat!) ❤️ Forced proximity and a shared goal naturally draw them closer, both physically and emotionally. The romance is interwoven with the looming threat of death, creating a narrative that is as tense as it is passionate - and Ruby Roe spice is 🔥🔥: the intimacy is passionate and laced with elements of BDSM and kink 🔥🌶

At its core, this is a tale of good versus evil, where sacrifices must be made. And just when you’re most invested, the novel delivers a devastating cliffhanger that will leave you desperate for the sequel, 'Interitus'.

I expected greatness.. and of course it delivered!! There’s a very good reason why Ruby Roe is an autobuy author for me, and Architecti is the perfect example. Full of sass and one liners that had me HOWLING from the start, instantly grabs you by the ovaries and doesn’t let you go, even after the book is over. THE CLIFFHANGER DEAR LORD! Perfect set up for the next book and I am EAGERLY awaiting the next instalment, but I’m not mad about it, I enjoy the torture.

I LOVE the world building, it’s easy to follow, but isn’t simple. It’s complex with really interesting and intriguing lore/history and layers, and wonderful side characters with depth and flaws. It lights a fire in your mind as well as your pants 👀 if you’ve read any of her books before you KNOW the spice delivers. If you haven’t and you like spicy wlw books with a darker edge then you will NOT regret it (check content warnings).

Plot summary!
A demon and a reaper. A professor and a student. Both locked in contracts they need to break, and only one rule - don’t fall in love.
Midnight - 6ft masc dom lesbian who sold her soul to save someone, and one has 1 year left before her soul is claimed. 1 year to try and save herself.
Lucy - Devil’s daughter and professor, trapped in a contract she never agreed to.
Midnight’s one shot at saving her soul is to get in to Finis Academy and win the Demonic Favour, and after 9 years of trying she finally claws her way in, only to end up in another deal with unforeseen consequences..! Lucy agrees to help her in exchange for her help breaking her own contract too.
Throw in some veil walking, fabric weaving, resurrecting, moths that create and destroy, reaping, super spicy spice, a talking dead cat, demons, a big juicy cliffhanger, and a whole bunch of other super cool stuff, then you have this book!

Things I loved:
- Fcking EVERYTHING.

Overall, just read it.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Architecti and this new chapter in the Ruby Roe universe is a dark and wild ride.

We follow Midnight through her journey to attempt to claim her souls back after a very impulsive deal was made 9 years prior. Seems like a simple task until we meet the demon Ignatius behind the contract for her soul and realize that he has no intentions of renegotiating the terms.
Midnight quickly meets Lucy where and there are instant sparks. While Lucy knows she can’t fall in love with a mortal, there’s nothing that says she can’t have a bit of fun to blow off the steam that her job and father have caused to build up.

Luckily for Midnight, a last minute acceptance letter to Finis Academy comes through with 1 year remaining in her contract for her soul to be reaped. Unluckily, the campus requests another deal in order to break her existing contract. Midnight accepts the deal easily when she thinks her target is no one important. However, she quickly learns that her target, daughter of Ignatius, is none other than Lucy.

Lucy has spent her entire life fighting for control over herself from the hold her father has. She knows there is a contract that he created when she was a child, but through the years has never been able to find it. Now, she meets Midnight who not only is a distraction but a danger to her tenure at Finis.

As much as these two attempt to keep things professional, it’s clear they have other plans. There are so many close calls and moments that had me holding my breath waiting for the ball to drop. Ruby doesn’t disappoint with another brutal cliffhanger that will keep me on my toes until the second book releases.

Holy fucking shitballs. This book! Just when I think Ruby Roe can’t possibly get any better, she smashes another one out that complete obliterates my brain. The story of a reaper, soul already lost, falling for a demon. No ordinary demon, the daughter of the devil who owns her soul, no less is just fucking spectacular.

The way this story unfolds isn’t slow, it isn’t a soft or gentle nudging into a different world. It is a runaway train, a rocket flung into space, a soaring asteroid. The reader is plunged into this new world, fantasy realm be dammed, this is now your reality. The world building is phenomenal, instantly thrusting (😏) you into the lives, loves, losses of these wonderful characters.

Midnight is the dom masc you have always wanted. She is commanding, assertive, strong and downright knee buckling. The way she falls for Lucy is just everything. Lucy, the professor, the demon, the daughter, the submissive 😈… well, she is phenomenal! Their chemistry is off the fucking charts. Nobody writes smut like Roe, but honestly, there were times I had to put my kindle down and allow my brain time to melt whilst I stared at a wall, incapable of any kind of thought. Because, holy fucking shitballs, (have I said that already?!) it was delicious.

It would be a Roe book 1 without a cliffhanger and I’m not going to sugarcoat it, this is fucking tough. The way I’m craving for book 2 already is feral and I know I won’t be the only one. I can only pray that we will be lucky enough to have it arrive soon!

All in all, this book is everything you could ever want from a fantasy. Another transcendent addition to Roe’s brilliant collection of wonderful sapphic books!

I am not a romantasy girlie so please take my review with a grain of salt!

Plot: the world building is extensive in my opinion and to me the other worldly aspects were hard to follow at times. I found myself having to make mental recaps to ensure I really understood the aspects of the environment. Other than that, once I felt like I had a good grip on the world, the concept/storyline was interesting. This is a multiple narrator read with the perspective of three narrators. I found this easy to follow along! I enjoy a multi narrator read and the author also does a good job of making it clear who is the narrator in each chapter. There is a huge cliffhanger ending with little to no resolve. The next in this series does not release until 09/2026 so prepare for a long…long…dangle from that cliff! I personally thought that the ending was too open. There were some things I felt could have been explained while still having a cliff hanger.

Romance: this was my first sapphic romance and I was super excited to dive in. The scenes are well written and spice level is high! My only con about the romance is the “daddy kink.” Since this was my first WLW I was expecting something different. But that could just be my lack of knowledge on the subject.

Overall good read. I am not sure I will read the next one. The extensive world building and the ambiguous ending determined the 3/5 for me!

This is shaping up to be an excellent duo! This new setting of finis Academy was intriguing and beautiful. I really love all of the realms that Ruby Roe creates

While there was a good chunk of cringe, I really liked the dynamics between midnight and Lucy. I think midnight was successfully written as tough but emotional. I think it’s really difficult to write a tough, bad ass character without it seeming forced and cringe.

Similarly, Ignatius could have been written to be overly harsh and dramatic in way that just reads fake. But he wasn’t!

Lucy is so hot. I’m obsessed with her. I loooove that she is a professor. I really enjoyed the dynamic between her and midnight while she was coaching midnight.

The only character I did not like was Lex. She was annoying.

Both Lucy and midnight have such intriguing stories. I don’t think there was any moment in this book that I was bored. That’s how I feel about most Ruby books. She does a great job of keeping the pacing up without things feeling rushed or random.

I super enjoyed learning about the angelic realm and architecti!! Sometimes, when there is a side story that later ties into the main plot, I can get antsy and disinterested. Arguably it was just as entertaining as the main plot if not more.

Team, I am noooot into the daddy thing. I tried. It icks me out. I’ve only ever seen used in heterosexual relationships, so I thought in a lesbian relationship I might like it. No ma’am. I would’ve preferred more of the good girl dynamic from deceit and desire.

I really excited for the next book!

Ruby Roe has fully cemented her spot on my auto-buy list, and Architecti is 100000% one of the reasons why. Architecti was a goddamn emotional rollercoaster that left me in a full-on spiral wondering what the hell just happened to my heart! When I finally set the book down, it took me 12 hours to even figure out what words could do it justice. Ruby is the undisputed queen of cliffhangers, and now I’m just trying to figure out what coping mechanisms will get me through until book two drops. I’m not above begging and crawling on my knees for an early release!

The story pulled me in immediately and never let go, keeping me on edge and constantly guessing what was going to happen next. Midnight and Lucy’s chemistry practically leapt off the page, and every stolen moment between them was perfect. And don’t even get me started on the spice…Ruby doesn’t just write spice, she architects it (pun fully intended). It’s deliciously intense, wildly creative, and most definitely unlocked a few new kinks.

This was a five-star, five-spice read that left me with the worst/best kind of book hangover! Thank you to the author for blessing me with an early ARC to drool over. It will be a forever fave!

I am stunned, this is by far the best book I’ve read of the author Ruby Roe.

It’s like Harry Potter in a gay universe, but with demons and angels in stead of witches, and with a hint of Stranger things.

The spice in this book is a 6/5 wooooow, my jaw was on the floor several times. When I read the Girl games series, I always knew the author had this side to her, and wow I was not disappointed!

The plot is as always with Ruby Roe on point, with a lot of plot twists and character development. I just can’t wait to get hold of the second book!!!

With all of that being said, I have to clarify that I was really struggling the first 150 pages. It took me a while to get into the universe, it’s just a lot more complex than the Girl games series. I think I really pressured myself to keep reading because of the reviews, and wow am I just grateful that I didn’t give up, because when I really got into it, I was just devouring those pages.

I am grateful that I didn’t read the back of the book before starting to read. Because when I after the first 100 pages took a glance at it, I was in shock that there was spoilers on the back, that I hadn’t even read about yet. I think this is a bit of a disappointment and a bad decision from the author, I must admit.
