🏒Hockey Romance
💙College Romance
“Summer Shot” follows the events of Book One “One Shot” (which doesn’t necessarily need to be read but would definitely fill some backstory in that would make it more enjoyable), we get the story from 3 POVs, the main couple; Laur/FMC and Lucas/MMC and hockey teammate Blaine.
It’s senior year in college and Laur is the lead for the hockey teams PR and Marketing dept. she is tasked with filling roles from the graduated seniors and creating a rounded team to fill in gaps. All of that responsibility while maintaining her friendships (Libby, Bren, and others), her relationship with Lucas and enjoying what’s left of summer vacation before the season and school start back up.
Lucas continues to keep balance in his focus on his future hockey career by keeping schedule, even in the summer, carving time for himself, his sport, and his girlfriend.
In this book we are introduced to a new team mate, freshman Ryder King who is said to rival the skill of Nick Bellinger or Lucas Donato (what ?!) and we encounter pasts that will affect not only Lucas and Laur but the team.
There are a few things of concern in the story;
If you read Book 1, One Shot, you met Blaine and Tyler already, this book has the characters with a complete turn around of personality and Tyler’s has no explanation (yet) as to why and this was confusing to me because I enjoyed his character being Laur’s friend and someone she could lean on, but not in this book. I also am unsure about Libby, whatever is going on with her needs explanation as well.
There are storylines intertwined that I would have liked more details on, but I have high hopes that the next book will tie all of it together. A.C. Wonderland has me a bit frustrated right now but in a good way. The story had me pulled in from the beginning and I read through the whole story in one night. Yes, I’m sorry to share that “Summer Shot” ends with a cliff hanger, but Book 3 should be out soon.
