I’m almost at a loss for words here, but I’ll start with this: I am so grateful. I firmly believe this book found me exactly when I needed it. The way Overspill held a mirror to my own experiences made me feel seen in a way I don’t think I’ve encountered previously. Sara and her story are raw, tender, and full of pain, but I also saw so much hope. The same can honestly be said about Miles, but from a very different perspective. Charlotte Paradise’s ability to portray emotions and sentiments with such clarity through her diction, unspoken words, and relationship building pulled on my heart strings. This book will absolutely not be for everyone, but it was absolutely for me. I’m going to sit with this one for a while—

As somebody who has supported survivors of sexual violence for over 13 years, this book is an absolute must read. It so accurate to help other people to understand the impacts and experience of PTSD, especially how PTSD impacts relationships and also the power of safe supported exploration of needs once and emotions with a compassionate and trauma informed therapist.
Incredible book, beautifully written, a perfect navigation of trauma and love and compassion and shame.
