3,5/✨ voor Meet Me When It’s Dark van Raven Elizabeth.

Ik geef Meet me when it’s dark 4 sterren.

What a thrilling book this was! Raven came up with a challenge to start reading her book together on January 3rd, during the full moon. And I’m so glad I joined in. From the very beginning, I was completely drawn into the story and couldn’t stop wondering where it would lead.

It’s a romantic thriller, and she executed this genre really well. The story delivers the same level of tension as a Freida McFadden novel, but with a touch of romance added - and honestly, I’m a fan!

I would have loved to read more background about Kaine and his family. The glimpse we got definitely left me wanting more.

Nonetheless, this is a very strong debut, and I absolutely devoured the book. I’m already looking forward to whatever Raven writes next.

I give Meet Me When It’s Dark 4 stars.

This book completely surprised me in the best way!! I was hooked almost instantly and ended up flying through it because I just had to know what would happen next.

It’s a romantic thriller and the balance between suspense and romance really works. The tension kept me turning pages, while the romance added that extra something I didn’t know I needed. If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers but don’t mind a romantic edge, this one is definitely worth picking up!

The only reason this isn’t a 5 star read is because I wanted more of the story. A little more depth or back story would make this even better. Nonetheless, this was a very strong debut and I can’t wait to see what Raven Elizabeth has in store for us! 👀✨

Meet Me When It’s Dark completely hooked me from the very first chapter. I honestly couldn’t put this book down. I devoured it in no time.

The suspense kept me turning pages, and the romance was beautifully written: not too tame, but nicely detailed and emotional in all the right ways. The writing style overall is smooth, engaging, and very easy to read, which made the story flow effortlessly.

The vibe reminded me of a Freida McFadden thriller or a really strong Saskia Noort novel; tense, addictive, and incredibly entertaining. I was fully invested from start to finish.

If this is Raven Elizabeth’s debut… chapeau. I had such a great time reading this, and I’ll definitely be looking out for what she writes next.

Highly recommended for fans of thrillers with a well written romantic edge.

Verder was dit boek echt🤯 en turned very dark very quickly.

First of all, let me just say how impressed I am. WDYM this your debut and it’s this good?! I genuinely loved this book! The mix of thriller and romance worked so well for me and I loved the plot twists. You’ve definitely gained a fan, because I’m honestly so excited for your next book!😍

From the moment I picked this book up, I was immediately pulled into the story. I love mysterious men, and the first meeting between Destiny and Kaine instantly caught my attention. The more characters I got to know, the more invested I became. I was curious about all their backstories and about all the strange things happening in this town.

The POV switch halfway through the book? A-freaking-mazing. From that point on, I couldn’t put the book down and yes I even shed a few tears.🥺 The jump back in time from kaine’s pov came at exactly the right moment. It added so much depth to the story and suddenly so many mysteries started to make sense.

And that little teaser with the cliffhanger??? Yeah, I can’t wait for the next book. I really hope we’ll get even more answers about all the mysteries surrounding this town and some of the characters. (Like the Alden family?????👀)

That said, even though I loved the mystery around Kaine, I did miss some depth in the romance. Especially toward the end, not only the romance but all the events felt a bit rushed and I would’ve liked the story to slow down there. I honestly wouldn’t mind if this book was a bit longer because I was having a good time reading it. I especially wanted more depth at the point we returned to Destiny’s POV and to see more of how things developed between her and Kaine.

But truly, I really loved this book. I ended up giving it 4⭐️.

This is Raven Elizabeth’s debut, and I highly respect her for self-publishing!!
I really liked the idea and the concept of this book — a romantic thriller is not something I’ve seen around a lot.
The story was great and had a lot of suspense. I had a busy week, but I kept wanting to read further, which is always a great thing. Raven’s writing style was easy and nice, and I flew through the book in no time.

I did, however, feel like a lot was happening. Some details were thrown into the story at a certain point, making them feel inconsequential. But later, these details turned out to be important after all. Which made it a little confusing at times.

I really liked that the POV stayed with Destiny for 20 chapters and switched to Kaine for a few instead of switching back and forth each chapter. This made me want to read further to read Kaine’s POV.

Unfortunately, Kaine’s POV disappointed me a little 😢 The story felt pretty realistic to me, up until Kaine’s story where he was living in the forest. I really liked the idea, but it didn’t quite hit home for me.

The plot twist got me though, and I LOVED that the POV switch came right after. That was a moment I just didn’t want to stop reading.

I’m a little torn with my rating. I loved the writing style, the concept of a romantic thriller, and the idea of the storyline. But there were also a few things that made me not like the book 😅 I WANT to love the book because I have the highest respect for a self-publishing girly, especially a Dutch girly writing an English book!! But this book wasn’t a favorite for me. I will say this: I do recommend it, because my opinions are very personal!! AND I will be reading Raven’s next book!! This book has a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to see what more Raven has in store for us.

Oh my gosh, with this one I was incredibly lucky to receive the book from the author herself. I feel truly honored to be one of the first readers, so thank you again, Raven Elizabeth.

First of all, I loved the friend group. Every single character has a backstory that sounds genuinely interesting. I also really enjoyed the mystery surrounding the town, especially the fact that everyone has to work at the community center for a year—and why Destiny isn’t allowed outside after dark, especially during a full moon.

I really appreciated getting Kaine’s POV, and I loved that there was a character who was redeemable. I’m such a sucker for those kinds of good, hopeful endings.

I would have loved to read more about the secret society and the people with crimson eyes, because why do they have them in the first place? Are they vampires? I need to know!!

This romance thriller suspense was a solid ⭐️ 3.75 stars for me.
