They’re the last two guys she ever thought she’d be stuck with. On repeat. When Nina Moss’s once-in-a-lifetime work trip to Australia is rudely interrupted by her oh-so-perfect coworker and arch-nemesis, Callum Bang, she’s furious. But then she sees him. Hamish. Her one that got away, boarding the very same flight.
Stuck with them both for a whole day of travel, Nina devises a masterplan to get away from Callum and back into Hamish’s heart, or at least the seat next to him. But the universe has other ideas.
When Nina wakes up to her blaring alarm, packed suitcase, and carefully laid out airport outfit, she can hardly believe her eyes. It’s Monday. Travel day. All over again.
The only thing worse than being caught on a long-haul flight with your enemy and your ex?
Hannah writes fresh, funny, contemporary romances. THE LONG HAUL, a time loop romcom, is her sixth novel. She's also written The Spa Break, The Pick Up, The A to Z of Us, Just My Type and The Year of Saying Yes.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this! The premise felt unique, following her through the repetitive cycle as she slowly figured out what she needed to learn. The story had a lot of heart, and I especially appreciated the focus on personal growth, how people change over time, and the emotional depth of the two main characters. It felt sweet while also carrying a more symbolic message underneath.
My only problem was the time loop element itself. I know the cause wasn’t the main focus, but I wish there had been some kind of foreshadowing or explanation tying it all together. Without that, the loop and its resolution felt a little random and flimsy to me.
Still, this was thoughtful, emotional, and ultimately a really enjoyable read.
This was a great read. I do enjoy the whole ‘groundhog day’ / time-loop stories and even though they are arguably predictable, Doyle also makes this rather unpredictable at the same time. And sorry, I just could not help laughing each time Nina is forced to reset!
It’s like your worst nightmare, when you are stuck forever flying. Not only that, it’s the longest journey: London to Australia. And to make matters worse? It’s a Monday. All the rubbish combined and when Nina realises she is having to fly out work her work nemesis, she really has reached rock bottom. Nina and Callum do not see eye-to-eye so being forced to sit next to each other for hours on end and then work closely together? It’s Nina’s version of hell.
Yet, when they do finally touch-down in Australia, events see Nina start her day again. And again. And again. It was so entertaining to see how Nina starts to play around with time, firmly believing that it doesn’t matter what she does because no one will remember what she has done. From bizarre face cream that you only found in duty-free (you all know what I mean!), to expensive chocolates, meddling with work romances and getting involved in a divorce party, this is a colourful trip taken multiple of times.
Except, the presence of Nina’s old flame, Hamish, throws her askew. She is convinced that fate is causing her to re-live this day in order to revive her old relationship. Considering him “the one that got away”, Nina goes to extreme lengths to ensure her seat is changed on the plane and that she can coax Hamish to remember the good times they shared. For readers, it is obvious that this is not going to lead to Nina’s happy ever after (or an escape from her endless flying), but, I could not foresee how she would break the loop. Is Hamish the key? Or should Nina look closer to home?
The work reasons for Nina’s flying does not feature much in the story and for that I was glad because the resetting was just too much fun! Doyle keeps the narrative fresh throughout and I loved the unexpected curveballs that are added to the story. There’s a great balance between humour and romance and I relished in seeing how far Nina would go before her Monday restarts all over again. It’s evident that Doyle had a lot of fun writing this story and this energy is definitely reflected in the narrative.
The characters that Nina encounters along the way are just as entertaining as Nina’s story. They add something to Nina’s learning experience and I loved being with her as she tries to fathom why the universe is not letting her move on. Even though the idea of endless flying sends shivers down my spine, this book was a fun and heart-warming tale with plenty of death(!) and new opportunities.
With thanks to HQ and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love time loop stories so I'll admit a personal bias for them upfront - I just find them SO satisfying. I'll be honest though, it was only the promise of the time loop romance that kept me going at the start of the book when I was finding Nina quite annoying. But after the time loop kicked in at the 25% mark, I found myself enjoying it more and more with each loop. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the things that Nina got up to, and I ended up really enjoying the character development.
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley but this is my voluntary and honest review.
Thank you NetGalley and HQ digital for the ARC of this.
I stumbled across this on NetGalley, and thought it sounded fun. I was not disappointed! I loved every minute!
This was my first Hannah Doyle book, but it won’t be my last, she was an instant follow on Goodreads and Instragram after a quarter of this book!
The Long Haul follows the hilariously witty Nina as she has to relive a Monday and a Long Haul flight to Australia with her long lost love Hamish and work enemy Callum over and over again.
Even though Nina lived the same day several times, it never got boring. I was excited to see what the next day would bring and the new things she would do and learn. There were poignant moments where Nina reflected on life, time and regrets as well that really resonated.
The MMC’s were great, funny, and rounded characters. I won’t say much more so I don’t spoil but I loved one him in particular!
This will be the perfect holiday read this summer and I need to get a physical copy to add to my shelves 🥰
When Nina Moss’s once-in-a-lifetime work trip to Australia is rudely interrupted by her co-worker and arch-nemesis, Callum Bang, she’s furious. But then she sees Hamish, the one who got away, boarding the very same flight. Stuck with them both for a whole day of travel, Nina devises a plan to get away from Callum and back into Hamish’s heart, or at least the seat next to him. The universe has other ideas. When Nina wakes up to her blaring alarm, packed suitcase, and carefully laid out airport outfit, she realises it’s travel day. All over again. The only thing worse than being caught on a long-haul flight with your enemy and your ex? Being trapped in an infinite time loop with them.
I do love a time loop story, so I was excited to read this book. It did not disappoint. Nina was very perky at the start of the book, and while it was a teensy bit annoying at first, it was also a really effective way of charting her slow decline from confusion, into anxiety and frustration every time she encountered the same events again and again. I cackled laughing at her 'famous physicist' game, as well as Callum’s reaction. I thought Nina was a bit hard on Callum at the beginning of the book, but he also had a couple of really obtuse moments. Still, I found myself mumbling 'poor Callum' so many times, and I'm glad that the time loop allowed Nina to actually engage in a few meaningful conversations with him as the story unfolded, particularly when she was confronted with her own assumptions. Her reactions to Hamish were also hilariously observed, and I loved the idea of reuniting with 'the one who got away'. I enjoyed the setup for the time loop, and I loved the side plot with Alan and Mel, the check-in crew. The beginning of Monday Five made me giggle, and I loved that Nina learned from quite a few of her mistakes. I also loved her change of attitude once at the airport and on the flight, and I squealed when she finally voiced her feelings. I also loved the banter once things really got going, especially when Nina actually used her previous knowledge of events. And, having suspicions about all of the characters and the changing events, I LOVED chapter fifteen. I squealed almost as loud as Nina shouted at the end of that chapter. However, I really wasn’t expecting what happened next! It was such an unexpected twist, but I cackled laughing at how Nina navigated things, and I LOVED her speech in the airport. There were some fun supporting characters. As I've already mentioned, Alan and Mel added some fun interactions at Heathrow, and I laughed at the scenes with Jennifer and her divorce party friends. They gave Nina some great advice, and, though Callum was sometimes terrified, their commentary made me giggle. And who can blame them? IS there anything better than that sliver of exposed skin? (IYKYK) Ultimately, I loved the outcomes for Hamish, Nina, and Callum, but I won't spoil the details. I swooned at chapter twenty-two, and I LOVED the lessons Nina learned along the way, especially about facing one's mortality. This book delivered a good lesson in being careful what you wish for and being blinded by nostalgia and false assumptions. It would also make a REALLY fun rom-com movie, so fingers crossed.
Overall Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.75 Heat Rating: 🔥
*Thanks to the publisher for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. The Long Haul is published on the 21st of May in the UK*
Here's my honest advice: push through the first 25% or so. It's worth it.
The Long Haul takes a minute to find its footing—the setup, while necessary, didn't fully grab me until the time loop kicked in. But once Nina wakes up to that blaring alarm and realizes she's living travel day all over again? Hannah Doyle absolutely takes off.
The premise is delicious: stuck on a long-haul flight to Australia with your arch-nemesis coworker AND the one that got away, forced to relive the same excruciating day on repeat. Nina's attempts to manipulate the loop—escape Callum, win back Hamish, figure out what the universe actually wants from her—are funny, messy, and increasingly revealing. Doyle uses the time loop not just for comedic mischief but for genuine character excavation, peeling back layers on all three characters as the repetitions stack up.
And that back end? So, so good. The emotional payoffs land beautifully. What starts as a chaotic romcom premise deepens into something with real tenderness and insight about what we think we want versus what we actually need.
The enemies-to-lovers and grumpy/sunshine dynamics with Callum are chef's kiss, and Doyle handles the love triangle with more nuance than the trope often gets. If you're willing to settle in through the slower opening stretch, this becomes an absolute delight.
Perfect summer read for anyone who loves time-loop mischief with heart.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Nina Moss is about to embark on a work trip to Australia, when she discovers she'll be travelling with a certain colleague, Callum Bang...not a choice she would have made herself. Then, she notices a fellow passenger who just so happens to be an ex from a very long time ago...one she's always wished hadn't become an ex.
Cue dilemmas and decisions and then cue them again and again as Nina finds herself in the most entertaining of time loops - at least, entertaining for us readers, I'm not sure Nina felt the same!
The Long Haul spoke to me! This was a very funny, easy read, while being quite thought provoking too. What would you do faced with second, third and many more chances? Would you right wrongs? Would you do things differently if you had the chance? What if changing the past affected the future you were hoping to have? Nina faces all of these dilemmas and I certainly found myself wondering what I'd do if I was in her seat on the plane.
There were some tender, heartwarming moments and lots of laugh out loud moments. I liked the author's style of story telling and her creation of a wonderful character in Nina and will definitely be looking to read more of her books. I really enjoyed this and have no hesitation in recommending it! Add it to your TBR...or pick it up before you board your next flight! ✈️
The Long Haul will be ready for departure on 21st May 2026.
Firstly, I want to say thank you so much to HQ for sending me a copy of this book! This was definitely a 5 star read for me, here are some of my thoughts:
To start off, I’ve never read a book with the time loop trope before, but I must say it was very well executed here! I didn’t find myself confused at any point during this book (which I expected to be 🫣) which made the story really easy to follow. Even though Nina (FMC) lived the same day very many times, I never found myself bored- I actually read this book in one sitting because it was that addictive! I also really liked the authors witty writing style- there were many moments where i found myself laughing out loud at this book!
The main romance in this book was also so satisfying! I won’t mention any spoilers, but I’m very happy with the guy our main character ended up with- I feel like everyone was rooting for him (if you weren’t then you’re wrong🤭). You’ll have to read to find out who 😉
Overall, I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves funny romance books, or enjoys the time loop trope! This book is out May 21st- definitely pick up a copy!
This book was such a fun, chaotic rom-com with the perfect mix of humour, romance, and emotional moments. Nina Moss is about to head off on a huge work trip to Australia when she ends up trapped on the journey from hell alongside her annoyingly perfect coworker and enemy, Callum Bang… and Hamish, the ex she never fully got over. Then the universe decides to make things even worse by forcing Nina to relive the same travel day over and over again.
The time-loop storyline was honestly so entertaining and kept the book feeling fresh the entire way through. I loved the banter between Nina and Callum, the awkward tension with Hamish, and all the hilarious disasters that came with repeating the same flight again and again. Beneath all the chaos, there’s also a really lovely story about growth, regret, and figuring out what — and who — you actually want.
This was witty, fast-paced, and incredibly easy to binge. If you love enemies-to-lovers vibes, messy romantic tension, and rom-coms with a unique twist, definitely add this one to your TBR.
I loved the whole aspect of this story. A girl stuck in a loop experiencing the same day over and over again stuck between the colleague she hates and the ex boyfriend who she’s never really gotten over. Trying to figure out what she needs to do and what needs to change to try and get her back to the real world.
I liked getting to know both male characters and seeing their different qualities and seeing which one suits her and encourages her to do what she loves. These two couldn’t be more different if they tried.
I will not go into detail because I don’t want to spoil it but I have to say I love the guy the main character ends up with.
It was fun, exciting and had me giggling away a few times especially at the burger..just wow.
Hannah Doyle brought us an exciting and fun time loop rom-com that was easy to follow. Everything was clean and clear and not at all confusing. It was fast paced and witty with a bunch of emotions mixed it. I enjoyed reading this beauty and I can’t wait for more books from this author in the future.
SUCH a great premise! Nina is stuck Groundhog Day-style on a long-haul flight with her work nemesis Callum, and Hamish, the ex she never got over... Nina slowly works out she's trapped in this hellish time loop because she has to undo the mistakes of her past, but does that mean forgiving Hamish, who moved to Australia and ghosted her, or reassessing what she thinks of her infuriating colleague Callum?
It's a gem of a book which manages to surprise and delight. I had no idea how things would resolve, and, even though the day starts and restarts multiple times, the story never feels repetitive. Very few writers have distinctive voices, but Hannah's gift for comedy and relatability makes the whole book a pleasure to read.
Fave line: The tiniest part of me begrudgingly admires Callum's work ethic but I'd sooner peel off my own skin than tell him that, what with him being the human equivalent of a cancelled train and all.
I really loved ‘The Spa Break’ by Hannah Doyle so I had high hopes for this one but if I’m being honest I just didn’t enjoy this one. The plot was good and I genuinely think people will love it, it’s the perfect holiday read really but it just was not my cup of tea. I thought the phrasing and the way the characters talked to each other was really immature and cringey. Some of the timings and story also didn’t match up towards the end so it felt rushed. For example, the clients they were going on a work trip with are either forgotten about and not mentioned, or towards the end in their last loop, they’re not shocked by the entrance (that is me trying not to spoil so sorry that makes no sense). Then there’s a scene towards the end where Callum is telling Nina about one of his loops and they ‘have hours’ to go on the place and then a few sentences later they’re landing.
I like Doyle’s writing but you can’t love every book and that’s ok! I’m excited to see what she brings next.
3.5 ⭐️ Event manager Nina is stuck on a long haul flight with her work rival and her one-that-got-away ex-boyfriend. It was fun, but also caused some anxiety for my flight phobia self 🫣 (which I don't hold against the book). A time-Loop can get boring very easily but I was intrigued by the premise of the two men that she would be stuck with on repeat and it had some little twists I didn’t expect which was much appreciated. In the beginning I felt Hamish was a bit too overdrawn but it got better on the repeated days, and Callum was a bit too perfect in the end with him understanding all of Nina’s tv references, being a romcom lover, amazing cook etc. He could have been a bit more nuanced but other than that I loved their chemistry. Also what was going on in Nina’s head at all times was funny but also a bit much at times (especially if the reader is a weird overthinker themselves)
The Long Haul was good fun! I enjoyed the time loop element a lot, the way things changed each Monday was really interesting and I was so intrigued to see where the story was going to go.
I did find it a little slow to get going and I struggled a little bit with Nina in the beginning, she was quite annoying. After the time loop got going, things improved massively and I started to like Nina more as she went through more time loops.
The last third was really addicting and I couldn't put it down, overall the story was great. I would've liked a bit more to the ending though, I'm left assuming the time loop was a just a weird fluke because there's no explanation.
*Thank you to the publisher and author for the opportunity to view an advanced copy via NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was provided with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.*
Nina is at the airport ready for a long haul work trip to Australia, when she realises she is to be joined by her professional nemesis, Callum. Not long after, her "one that got away" Hamish gets on the same flight as them both...oh and then she realises she's stuck in a time loop! I am predisposed to love a time loop story, so I was pretty much on board from the start. Overall, Hannah Doyle's novel is fun and light, a perfect holiday read. The banter between the central couple was not as tight as I'd have hoped initially and I did find myself baulking when other characters commented on the "tension" between them. However this improved significantly when the wheels of time were truly in motion. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I came for the enemies to lovers banter, but I stayed for the emotional journey.
Watching Nina move from frantic manipulation of her timeline to genuine self reflection was the highlight of the journey. It turns out, sometimes you have to live the same day over and over to finally see what's right in front of you.
I enjoyed seeing how one tiny change in Nina’s behavior (a different comment to a flight attendant or a seat swapping tactic) cascaded into entirely new interactions with Callum and Hamish.
I really liked the plot twist and the subsequent time jump following that revalation, it made me want to know what would happen next.
Even though we are stuck in a 'Groundhog Day' setting it doesn't feel repetitive as a reader, I enjoyed each iteration of this fateful Monday, the shenanigans that Nina would get up to and what she would learn about herself each time.
This was a quick and entertaining read, perfect for the summer.
I’ll be honest, at the start of this book I wasn’t convinced. I found the main character pretty annoying at first and had that familiar “do I keep going or quietly DNF?” moment. But this is absolutely one of those books where holding on is so worth it. The story just gets better and better, and before I knew it, I was completely hooked.
The whole premise is genuinely brilliant and so well executed that I ended up reading the entire book in one day. Once it finds its stride, it’s impossible to put down. I won’t give anything away, but the payoff is there, and the ending left me really satisfied. I’m so glad I didn’t give up early on, this book surprised me in the best way.
Thank you Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to HQ Digital for the advanced digital copy of this book. This was my first Hanna Doyle book. I was pleasantly surprised! I can definitely see the similarities to Tessa Bailey! I requested it because I’m a sucker for a timeloop story. I recently finished a YA mysterious timeloop so this one being a more fun and romantic timeloop story was a nice reading reset! It’s fun and flirty but also touches on personal growth. The relationship aspect of this one carried the story. Yes there is banter, but there’s also some emotional depth. The timeloop reasoning itself almost felt a little like an afterthought but the repeated days weren’t boring and it was fun reading Nina’s character. Quick and entertaining, this would be a great long flight read!
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC copy. This was super fun and light, which made it a very quick read. I don't always enjoy a time loop but this one had a bit of variety and had some really fun moments - particularly when Nina realised she wasn't the only person reliving the same day on repeat.
I wish we could have had a little more info given on the time loop and why it happened, but I appreciate that wasn't really the purpose of the story. Nina was a little annoying sometimes (and her initial blindness to Hamish's awful personality was hard to empathise with), but she seemed to relax as it went on and became more relatable by the end (Callum did help to soften her).
What a nightmare flight this would be, but what a great story it is. This is a real what-if, what if the one who got away was on your long-haul flight, what if you could throw your work enemy in front of a airport trolly, what if you had to spend time with that enemy over and over again and realised the more you know them, maybe they aren’t an enemy after all. These are things this story deals with super well, and also how Nina holds herself to certain standards, and as the days progress she starts to question more and more of her life, it’s a great story that somehow manages to be deep and emotional and also fun and flirty.
Like a modern day Groundhog Day with so much humour. The time-loop setup made the story feel really fresh and chaotic, especially as Nina keeps trying different ways to fix things and get closer to Hamish. I also loved how her perspective on the people around her slowly started to change.
A really entertaining read if you like enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine vibes, and rom-coms with a slightly quirky premise. ✈️

If there's anything worse than a long haul flight between hemispheres, its repeating it over and over and over, as the Hot Chip song goes (loved that it was Nina's wake up alarm). Once again Hannah Doyle writes a funny, entertaining rom com gem. I couldn't put this book down.
I loved Nina's journey as she's forced to examine her past relationship with Hamish, and her perceptions of workplace nemesis Callum. She's a stubborn, fixated on Hamish being The One Who Got Away, and horribly judgemental to Callum. At times, being in her head was a LOT and I wanted to yell at her when she'd behave appallingly to Callum even when she knew she was wrong. What I really loved about this book is, despite reading many Groundhog Day-ish storylines, it still surprised me as to how and where the plot would go.
Firstly, thank you NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book in advance of its realise date
THIS BOOK HAD ME LITERALLY LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!! I really got into it and part way through I did think “oh no… it’s going to end up getting boring with the repetition” BUT I WAS WRONG
Did it have me silly-smiling? Yes Did I read it in a day because I couldn’t stop thinking about it? Yes Did it have me giggling to the point people were looking at me? Yes Do I recommend this book? YESSSS!!!!! 👏🏼
Really disappointed with this one as have enjoyed this authors previous books.
The first 25% really, really, REALLY dragged and I wanted to give up as it was just so dull.
I stuck with it and although Nina became less irritating and the pace picked up, I wasn’t as invested in this one as much as I should have been and was more than happy when I reached the end.
I absolutely loved this delightful time-looping rom-com! It was the perfect read to start the year and put a smile on my face.
The story follows chipper optimist Nina who finds herself on a long haul flight to Australia with her work nemesis Callum AND her ex Hamish, aka "the one that got away"... After an unfortunate incident involving a runaway luggage buggy, she mysteriously finds herself on the same flight again... And again... And again... Until she realises she's living out an infinite Monday with no clue how to make it stop. Unless her ex is the answer? Or maybe someone closer to home...
I have a real soft spot for Groundhog Day style stories and this one did not disappoint - the stakes were high and the witty banter was impeccable, plus I loved all the crazy side characters that Nina found herself involved with as her Monday from hell kept playing out. I laughed, I swooned, I wondered... When will this be made into a Netflix rom-com?!
A delightful 5 ⭐ read, I thoroughly recommend checking it out! ✈️💕
Such a great and well written premise. Even though the story stops and re starts several times in a time loop it didn’t make the story stagnant and kept you engaged with certain characteristics changing.
It’s a lighthearted easy, enjoyable read and perfect for a summer read. I literally breezed through it and was looking forward to how the time loop would stop. I enjoyed both Callum’s and Nina’s characters and how their journey progressed.
I am not much of a laugh out loud reader, but this book really had me giggling!
If you’d told me beforehand that a story repeating the same day over and over could be this engaging, I would not have believed you. But author Hannah Doyle takes the concept and makes it so much fun!
This sweet and endearing rom-com is a journey of self-discovery for our main character Nina … and a little bit for our MMC too - who I won’t spoil by revealing!
Just not my cup of tea, I enjoyed it probably up until day 3 and then just found it a bit boring but I can see a lot of people will enjoy it! I think for the age the characters were they seemed quite childish. The time loop aspect was fun, but as I said just not for me overall. Thank you to NetGalley for this arc!

stunning. hilarious. LOVE a time loop and this one is brilliant, had me absolutely snortingggg with laughter. the chemistry between the two main characters was amazing, and it all worked out beautifully :) just such a good time and I flew through this one!
