When nineteen-year-old medical student Jamie Henshaw is found murdered in Exeter's Northernhay Gardens, DI Knox faces his most disturbing case yet. The body has been arranged with surgical precision to recreate a 16th-century anatomical illustration, organs removed and displayed with clinical care.
Someone is moving through the corridors of the medical school, watching and waiting. Someone with intimate knowledge of both human anatomy and the students struggling to master it.
Time is running out, and the killer's work is far from finished.
From the author of Hollow Ground and Dark Tides comes a chilling thriller that explores how trust can be weaponized within the very institutions meant to heal.
I'm really enjoying this series from Freya Wallace. The realistic portrayal of the police procedural side of things gives the book a distinct edge. Jacob Knox is a complex yet intriguing detective and the author is slowly unraveling the layers as the series progresses. This is a dark and grisly plot featuring a very deranged serial killer and it's perfectly plotted building up the suspense and tension. A gripping fast paced and well written story sees me eagerly awaiting the next one
