MOONCHILD is the second book in the MOONBLOOD duology, but it can be read first.
Moonlit destiny. Mortal souls. A love that defies the night.
Selena Clair, orphan turned small-town shopkeeper, is the new Alpha Female of the MoonShadow pack. As if that weren’t challenging enough, a power long buried in her bloodline awakens, threatening her first real chance at love and family.
Alpha Alecksander Hale vows to protect his mate at any cost. But when a shadowed enemy rises with magic that defies death itself, he realizes fang and claw won’t be enough.
With her mate bond tested and her past surfacing, Selena must decide whether to embrace the legacy within her—or risk losing everything to the darkness hunting them both.
Don't worry about the blurb. It's basic AF. FMC gets powers? Okay. MMC Alpha wants to protect her. Seen it. My goal is tell you stories you might already know in ways that leave you hooked and gagged anyway. MOONCHILD is perfect for readers who enjoy shifter romance but

This was a good book. The first 25% of the book is lots of dialogue. I mean ALOT so it drug on. Once you get past that, there is lots of worldbuilding which is different and unexpected. Without giving anything away..there was progressive growth on the FMC's part and plenty of spice on both parts.
I really, really liked this story. It's actually really beautiful. The dynamics between the FMC and MMC are written so well, and above all realistically. I so often get annoyed at the characters and the way they react or handle situations/emotions. I never felt that annoyance...and there were some pretty strong emotions at times. The MMC is a perfect balance of possessive Alpha and cuddly wolf. The FMC is a perfect balance of strong independence and submissive Alpha's mate. I especially love her humor when she submits, but makes him work for it.
This is a very fast paced story without skimming over anything important. There was plenty of opportunity to "fluff" the story. There were a few scenes that I missed the "fluff", but, mostly, I appreciated it being skipped.
I went into this book blind and thought it was a standalone. I felt the entire time that it would do so well as a series. After reading the entire book I learned that it is actually book 2 in a dulogy. It doesn't NEED to be read second, but it may have helped with some of the "fluffing" I was missing. I'm actually excited to start the 1st book Moonblood as soon as I finish writing this!
Edit to add: Truly you don't need to read book one (Moonblood), however I would strongly suggest you do. Had I, I would have felt much different throughout this story... In a good way. It would have felt more "complete" had I not been thinking of the "fluff" I thought I was missing. In short, it would have felt even more powerful and beautiful 🙂
I just finished Moonchild and I'm telling you, it was SO good! This is the second book in the Moonblood duology and continues the story and it’s really awesome is that it's about a couple who are already together so it’s straight in to the story. I love that you get to see them actually be a couple and deal with their relationship and pack life, which I absolutely loved, it’s so relatable. The main character ‘Selena’ is fantastic. She's the human Luna of the pack and she's not just sitting around. She's really trying to find her place and get strong on her own terms. I was totally rooting for her the whole time. And Aleck! Phew! He's a total powerhouse and super protective but the way he is with her is just the sweetest. He's still taking her on dates and everything to connect with her which just melts your heart. And don't worry it's definitely steamy! Their chemistry is off the charts. There are these "hunt" scenes they do that are so different and honestly, really hot - IYKYK. But it's not just about the romance, there's a whole mystery with family secrets and pack traditions that had me completely hooked. I seriously couldn't put it down, a definite one more chapter read! It’s got everything you want in your read - a great love story, characters you'll love and also plenty of action. If you like paranormal romance then you've got to check this one out. It’s a definite five stars from me!
I was hooked from the very first chapter! This was definitely a 4.5⭐️ for me.
Selena is such a relatable heroine. She is strong, stubborn, but also carrying so much pain from her past. Watching her step into her role as Alpha Female while discovering the terrifying (and powerful!) legacy in her bloodline kept me glued to the page.
And Alecksander…swoon 🥵 He’s protective, loyal, and every bit the Alpha you’d hope for, but not in an overbearing way. The mate bond between him and Selena is written so beautifully. It’s intense, passionate, and tested in ways that made my heart ache for them both.
The tension in this story is perfect. Between the rising enemy with magic that feels unstoppable, and Selena’s own inner battle with her legacy, I never once felt the pace drag. There’s action, romance, heartbreak, and enough twists to keep me on edge until the very end. If you love shifter romances with high stakes, emotional depth, and a heroine who truly earns her power, this one’s for you. I can’t wait to see where the series goes next!
Moonchild had me laughing at myself because the first quarter felt like I was trapped in a dialogue swamp, but once it finally moved, it moved. Selena leveling up with that freaky bloodline magic was actually pretty cool, and I liked how her growth never turned her into some perfect chosen-one cardboard cutout. Aleck stayed that protective alpha without acting like a walking red flag, which is harder to pull off than authors pretend. The relationship already being established made the story hit different, especially with their weird but fun hunt scenes and all the pack politics squeezing them. The plot felt thicker this time, more mystery and actual stakes, even if I could tell I would have caught the emotional beats better if I had just reread book one. Still, watching them try to communicate like actual adults was refreshing. This one felt more complete and richer in worldbuilding, and I liked seeing the consequences of the first book ripple through everything.
I read this book as an ARC and was pleasantly surprised. Moonchild is a captivating story. The writing flows gently detailing a dreamy world. The characters, both the main ones and the supporting cast, felt real, and I loved how easy it was to connect with them. Getting both the FMC and MMC's perspectives made it even more engaging. The themes of identity were explored with a tenderness that made it feel real, even in a fantasy setting. The pacing is slower, with an emotional pull, and there’s just the right amount of spice. I did not read the 1st book, as it was mentioned I didn't need to, however I would recommend reading the first book for a better understanding of Moonchild. If you enjoy magical/fantasy stories that are based more on character and emotional depth than intricate world-building, Moonchild is worth checking out.
A Thrilling Dive into Book Two of the Moonblood Series If you were captivated by Moonblood, then brace yourself—book two doesn’t just raise the stakes, it launches you into a whole new stratosphere of storytelling. This installment is a masterclass in immersive worldbuilding, rich with the kind of detail and depth that fantasy lovers crave. At its heart, this is Selena’s story. We’re pulled deep into her journey and the dynamics of Aleck’s pack, uncovering layers of loyalty, power, and emotional complexity. The relationships are raw and real, the stakes are high, and the tension never lets up. Every chapter demands your full attention—and rewards it. Whether you're here for the lore, the drama, or the pulse-pounding action, this book delivers. It’s a must-read for fans of the series and a stunning continuation that doesn’t disappoint.
Moonchild is magical read - a shifter romance. The writing is soft and poetic, the atmosphere dreamy and full of imagery and the characters feel so real. It’s a book where you’re able to connect with the characters and see both the FMC and MMC’s points of view and the supporting characters are just as fun and easy to love. It a slower, more emotional read.
The main character really stuck with me — flawed, searching, and real. I loved how the book explored identity and belonging in a way that felt both tender and powerful. She longs for things that all human being do and makes it relatable even though it’s fantasy based.
Moonchild is steamy is a good way. If you love magical, character-driven stories without a lot of world building all at once, this one’s for you.
Moonchild is a wolf shifter romance that follows the life changing events of it’s Human MFC Selena Clair and her shifter mate MMC Alpha Alecksander Hale. When her magical bloodline begins to awaken it threatens her bond and draws enemies from the shadows that in turn thrusts Aleck into protection mode. Nice writing in this continuation of their story begun in the first book Moonblood. There is plenty of action, danger, personal vulnerability, intrigue, pack dynamics, and passion that powers a story with excellent characterizations delivering an exciting read.

This was my first shifter romance read and something I could definitely get used to.
This story is the 2nd book in the series. It follows Selena and Aleck, as they continue where they left off at the end of Book 1. As the story continues, Selena learns there is so much more to her than anyone realized, including herself.
Though this is Book 2, I read it without reading Book 1. I did not have any trouble following the story. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I added Book 1 to my TBR!
This story has a lot of world-building and dialogue that will completely immerse you.
This romance isn't about a couple getting together by the end of the book, but rather building their relationship after it's already started. Showing them growing together, learning, supporting, and loving each other. The hardships and reactions feel so real. The characters feel fully formed and nothing they do made me feel as though it was out of place for that person or that the story had jumped unreasonably from anything to another. This ARC was lovely to read and I can honestly say I enjoyed this.
Dual pov. More world building Shifters Pr!m@l pl@y Fated mates. Pr@ise K!nk Yearning. Who hurt you Alpha hero(ine) Greek mythology Tragic pasts Spicy/smut Protective/ dominant mmc She calms him down Strong communication
This is the second book in the Moonblood duology,I love Selena she is our human Luna FMC, trying to find her place in the pack and watching her journey and growth I absolutely was here for it 💕 Aleck was so protective, and I loved how he was with her, like this sweat bear for her. Connecting with her taking her on dates. Their chemistry is off the charts and I was here for the steamy moments. I loved their dynamic. But there’s also more, there is mystery and pack traditions and family secrets. You can read this as a standalone. But I definitely recommend both cuz I love the world building.
MOONCHILD is the paranormal romance that demands to be read! It skips the slow burn and dives straight into a couple who are already together, delivering immediate off-the-charts chemistry (IYKYK!). This book is packed with family secrets and a growing magical enemy, giving you non-stop action, perfect tension, and Selena's compelling fight for power. If you love shifter romance with blazing chemistry and thrilling stakes, grab this now.
Probably one of the best shifter romances i’ve read in a longggg time. between a plot that keeps you hooked and the perfect about of spice it’s everything you could want. i loved the pack dynamics that the author created and was fascinated with how everything tied together in the end. definitely a must read if your wanting something fun, spicy and paranormal that doesn’t lack a good plot and character development!
This is a wonderfully developed plot and book. The characters are amazing and so is the story.

Good shifted romance. Great MMC. I have not read the first in the series as this was a standalone. I am going to go back now and read it. Moonchild is worth the read. I did receive an eARC for this book.
Read this book! Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Moonchild has plot, pace, action, spice, worldbuilding, magic, romance, mythology, banter, tension, twists - everything! 💯 It's unlike any other wolf shifter romance you'll read. And no, there isn't knotting.
Selena is the main MC and the furthest thing from insufferable. Dry humor, smart, responsible, sexually empowered, and stubborn. No teenage Mary Sue here. She’s flawed with a rough past that she overcomes, and in the end, she doesn’t need saving. Great character arc. You can relate to her and root for her. And best of all, everyone's not obsessed with her.
I absolutely loved Aleck. He is my 👏 BOOK 👏 HUSBAND! So much more than the typical “I wolf, I possess, I protect.” He yearned, he cared, he loved. Ugh! Another solid character arc. Not to mention he’s zaddy AF. The perfect Alpha. And both characters are consistent. The way they act ties to their personalities.
And the spice! When Aleck told Selena, “Take all of it... I know for a fact it fits,” I almost threw my damn phone at the wall. And when he chased her through the woods. "I f**king love you and I love f**king you." 🥵 The CNC and primal play were sooo good! Well seasoned book but all the scenes feel different and earned.
But even outside the spice, this couple burns off the page. The arguments - I couldn’t get enough! Their banter and communication is unmatched, which makes sense. They’re both Alphas leading a pack of 200+ wolves. They SHOULD be able to talk to each other.
The worldbuilding was so much more than what you’d expect from a wolf shifter romance. All with no info dumping or slowing the pace. There was pack dynamics, pack talk, pack rituals, a magic system, magical foods, plants and herbs, alpha duties, entertainment. Jade didn’t tell us about MoonShadow. She showed it to us. And yes, I want to go. To the gardens especially. 👀 Oh, and the spa! It’s an entire freaking compound!
Overall, this was way more than I expected to get in a wolf shifter romance. Writing that doesn’t feel like fanfiction and strong plot and romance. I was all over the place reading this - laughing, sliding down the wall, climbing up the wall, locked in on the edge of my seat.
If you like contemporary wolf shifter romance but with a little more mmph (fantasy, plot, character arcs, and well-written spice), this is for you! I’ll be buying a physical copy for sure. Can’t wait to read the next couple’s story! Jade, if you see this, welcome to wolf shifter romance! You're my new fave! ~PastelSkiesReviews❤️
Edit: I went back and read the first book and I freaking loved it!

Not your typical shifter romance. The book is primarily set in a pack compound but the story is more of a romantasy. It's a love story that delves into growth and trust forming a relationship that survives the trials. The MMC learns you must be willing to walk side by side providing love and support.
