ARC review:
I enjoyed every page of this book. The flirting Kieran and Maris struggle with desire. The way she gains confidence through the book. The evolving of Kieran and Maris relationship during the book was very good. I couldn't put the book down. It was the same with the first 2 books in this series. I look forward to seeing how the series continues in the next book.

ARC Review:
I loved every second of this book. The way Kieran toyed with Maris in the beginning had me smiling throughout the book. He is literally the embodiment of flirtatious and desire. I love Maris’ never back down attitude and confidence once she finally embraces it. The story line really picked up within this book and I’m all for it. I can’t wait to see what happens next and the connections with the other realms. By far my favorite series I’ve read for 2025! I was literally obsessed with this Maris and Kieran’s story that I finished it in one sitting.

Book 3 did not disappoint! I’m a sucker for the taboo sin/sinner trope. A priestess who’s been taught to resist desire and temptation. A god whose temptation and desire is the priestess.
It was a fun spicy read. I’ve read the first 2 books in the fourth burn series. Book 3 adds complexities to the plot that I didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to read book 4! And now I’m thinking I need to invest time into the secrets of Exiles and Curses series too. They all connect (I think) and I can’t get enough of the characters and world!

Thank you to Shay for the eARC! Ugh, I love Kieran and Maris. Priestess taught to despise desire…and the God of Desire? 😮💨 Maris is so funny and seeing her personality evolve and her confidence grow was great. I think this one was a shorter than the others, I will say it felt a tad rushed? I still love them, just feel there could have been more to their story, or more action like the others. Shay has a way of making you feel a roller coaster of emotions with her words, and a love for her characters. Fingers crossed for Calista in the next one!

Being part of Shay’s permanent Arc team is the biggest joy of my life. Her mind truly is an awe-inspiring place. Her books are amazing and never cease to surprise me and leave me heartbroken (for a time).
Sins of the Gods is my favorite one in the Fourth Born series so far. Everything is so well connected and intertwined, like little Easter eggs for the books to come. I can’t wait for the next book(s)!

Huge thanks to Shay Taylor for the e-ARC! I had real fun reading the first two books, and now I got to read the third one — and it was absolutely brilliant!
Let’s start with the fact that I knew this was going to be the story of the God of Desire and his mate, a priestess. That alone promised a great time. What I did not expect was the direction this story would take! Maris’s backstory took me completely by surprise.
As for the plot — this book is romance-heavy! There isn’t much progression of the overarching series plot; it feels very much like a bridge between books two and four. But honestly? I loved that it focused so strongly on the romance and was lighter on the overall storyline.
I admit I had trouble imagining some scenes - confessionals I know wouldn’t fit two people, let alone two people being… active XD Not that I’m complaining though!
And one last thing I want to mention — Maris and Kieran’s story hit me just as hard as Morrigan and Khalias’s (from book one). I absolutely loved it. And just like with the previous two books, I was a complete sobbing mess while reading. I need more books like this — heavy on romance, light on plot, emotionally wrecking me, and refusing to let go. I’m eagerly looking forward to book four! It seems like it’s going to be awesome!

Zacznijmy od tego, że wiedziałam, iż będzie to historia Boga Pożądania i jego partnerki, kapłanki. Już samo to zapowiadało świetną lekturę. Nie spodziewałam się jednak, dokąd ta opowieść mnie zaprowadzi! Historia Maris całkowicie mnie zaskoczyła.
Jeśli chodzi o fabułę — ten tom jest bardzo mocno skupiony na romansie! Nie ma tu wielu wątków rozwijających główną historię serii; całość bardziej przypomina pomost między drugim a czwartym tomem. Ale szczerze? Uwielbiam, że skupia się tak mocno na romansie i jest lżejszy pod względem fabularnym.
Przyznaję, że miałam problem, by wyobrazić sobie niektóre sceny — konfesjonały, które ja znam nie zmieściłyby dwóch osób, nie mówiąc już o dwóch osobach… aktywnych XD Ale nie narzekam!

Right from the first chapter this book had my attention! But I promise, it’s not only the beginning that’s fantastic. The whole book had me hooked, it’s dangerously good. The twists and turns had me gasping, covering my mouth, and putting down my e-reader. Adding the playful banter, forbidden lust, building trust and learning to let go made this book feel even more special.
Sins of the Gods gave us more to the whole plot over the series and it’s getting increasingly complex, but at the same time pieces of the puzzle is falling into place.
Seeing Maris and Kieran, the God of Desire, fall in love felt like a privilege. I don’t want to spoil anything so all I’m going to say about it is that it’s new, it’s fresh, and it’s certainly unique.
Kieran is protective, possessive and obsessed when it comes to Maris, and that shows in different ways throughout the entire book. Each evidence is as delicious as the previous. Not only that, but he also makes sure he has consent. That doesn’t only apply to the spicy scenes, but their life in general. He might push with his flirting, but Maris pushes back with her flirting and attitude. Every time the gesture for consent is made it has a great impact.
Talking about the spice, it’s well written and it’s diverse. The fact that it’s taboo makes it more exciting. What I appreciate most is the small bits, the teasing, a touch here and a touch there, before the fantasies bloomed and we got the very thing we have been waiting for.
But… I was bawling my eyes out several times and I felt heartbroken on more than one occasion. There were times I had to stop reading, everything hurt so much. Even my anxiety spiked to new dimensions. Shay truly has a way to make me scream internally at 2am, crave the pain, and sit with the ache.
What’s written specifically well in Shay’s books are emotions. They’re raw, chaotic and addictive. It’s portrayed in such way you feel them as much as the characters does – and that’s beautiful.
The descriptions of how Kieran’s magic works and presents itself was incredible to read. I had goosebumps and it was so livid in my mind. It fit him so perfectly, all of it, actually.
I'm extremely curious how this series will end but I do know one thing, the fourth book will be as amazing as the previous three. If you've played with the thought of reading them I say go for it. They're all wort hit!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — 5 Stars, I Am Not the Same Person After This Book
Okay so… this book?? It grabbed me by the throat from page one and refused to let go 😮💨🔥📖 Like I opened it thinking I’d read a chapter or two and suddenly I’m 60% in, dehydrated, emotionally unstable, and questioning my morals..... in the best way 🫠😵💫. The atmosphere is dark and tense 🖤⛓️, the emotions are messy, raw, and completely unhinged. This is the kind of story that makes you pause, stare at a wall, and whisper “what did I just read?” (affectionately) 😳. It followed me into my dreams and absolutely DID NOT let me sleep 🤭🫣😴
Let’s talk about Kieran because WOW. Mister actual God of Desire 😈🔥. Mister I-can-make-a-priestess-sin-with-a-look. The audacity. The confidence. The way he just EXISTS and everything combusts around him??? I love him. I need him. Please give me 14 of him immediately😩🖤🔥 Every scene with him felt charged, dangerous, and deliciously wrong in a way that had me clutching my pearls and smiling through it 💀💎😌
And Maris… my heart 🥺🖤. A priestess abandoned at a temple because of a prophecy, fully resigned to a life of duty and restraint ⛪✨, content with fulfilling her role.....until a certain god shows up and flips her entire world upside down 🌪️🔥. Watching her internal struggle, her quiet strength, and the way her world slowly expands beyond what she was taught she was allowed to want? Ugh. So good. So painful. So satisfying 😭✨

Oh. He absolutely loses it. The restraint is gone. The patience evaporates. Let’s just say Maris did not walk away untouched....he made sure she remembered exactly who she belonged to, turning her every way but loose 😮💨🔥💥
The plot??? EXPLODED 💥📈. Just when I thought I had a handle on where things were going, it pulled the rug out from under me and dragged me even deeper 😵💫. Every revelation made me more invested, more obsessed, more unable to put the book down 🫶📖.
I loved this book. Fully. Completely. Body, mind, and soul 🖤🔥✨. If you like dark fantasy, forbidden desire, gods who know exactly what they’re doing, and stories that sink their claws into you and refuse to let go then read this. Just… maybe don’t plan on sleeping after 😌🔥📚✨

Sins of the Gods is book 3 of her Fourth Born series. It follows Maris, who is the mate of the God of Desire, Kieran. As with all the sibling gods’ mates, Maris is a fourth born, but her identity and history goes a lot deeper than that. One that will help redefine the realms.
Placed in the temple that preaches against desire and sin, Maris is not allowed to look upon on a man or have him look at her. She follows that rule…mostly. Until one day a mysterious man comes to her booth and instead of confessing his sins, makes her feel her own desires. He tempts and seduces and Maris just can’t wait to fall. But she has a destiny to fulfill and doesn’t realize the man in front of her is part of that.
Shay always writes good spice 🌶️ but we’re talking about the God of Desire here people, so this book….🥵🥵🥵🥵 woooo, hottest and best spice she’s written to date! This story is very much a taboo romance with religious aspects to it (and desecrating said aspects 😜) so please read the trigger warnings. But we a little cat x mouse hunting going on and it was hot 🔥
Also, I love how the epilogue is almost its own little side story we get bits and pieces of the last couple books 📕 and I can’t wait to see more of them! You left me hanging for more Shay!! 😝
There are so many Easter eggs hidden in these books and I love trying to pick up on them all!
Early 2026 we’re going to be getting book 6 of the Secrets & Curses series (Secrets & Curses of Mates) and the 4th and final book of the Fourth Born series (Torment of the Gods) before diving into Gods of Gilyx and hopefully book 7 of Secrets & Curses (Ezra’s story) 🤞so we are in for a full ride in 2026 and I’m so excited! 😬🤩

This is book 3 in the Fourth Born series and I was lucky enough to be part of Shay’s ARC Team. Book 3 sees Maris, a temple-bound priestess, whose days are spent in quiet reflection and contemplation behind her veil and robes of purity, she listens to confessions, provides forgiveness, and resists temptation, until the day a stranger arrives at her confession booth, determined to get to the woman beneath the veil.
OMG! This is another fabulous instalment to this amazing world that Shay has created. Each book leads us on a journey that will no doubt be a fiery ending, one that could be the world’s destruction, or just maybe its salvation. And I am so excited to see where we end up. Each one of Shay’s books addresses physical and mental abuse by those meant to protect, love and nurture those in their care, but also the kind of love that allows those beaten down to rise up from the ashes, to flourish and grow, to heal and become all they were fated to be despite the heartache they were forced to endure.
I absolutely love this series, this world that Shay was gracious enough to share with us and I will be sad when it finally ends. This was a fantastic read for me and I gave it 4.75 stars. I would highly recommend this book, in fact I would recommend anything that Shay writes!

I don’t know what kind of spell you casted on this book😮💨 but it was sinful, addictive, emotional, and absolutely impossible to put down. Proud to say I finished it in one sitting 🤭
Maris and Kieran have the kind of chemistry that steals your breath. Their connection feels fated and dangerous and so intense it should be illegal. The tension between them is thick, the kind that has you leaning closer to the page like it’s going to get you in trouble. There are scenes in here that made me gasp and fan myself all at the same time 🥵 I might need to visit a confessional 😏
Kieran is the exact kind of love interest I fall for. He is protective, obsessive in the best way, emotionally unhinged but loyal, and written with a passion that makes every line hit. And Maris? She’s powerful, conflicted, devoted, and so easy to root for. Watching them collide is magnetic.
Shay your writing is sinfully gorgeous. The romance is dark, intense, and wildly addictive. You just know how to blend desire and emotion so perfectly that every moment hits like a punch to the chest.
If you want a fantasy romance that is emotional, magnetic, a little dangerous, and very, very spicy, this book needs to be on your shelf.

My god, Shay is the freaking queen of fansty. Shay is a dark fansty writer. She has built an entire multiverse that grips you from book 1. I believe this is the 7th book that I have been an ACR reader for her. Let me tell you, she knows what she is doing. Sins of the Gods is the 3rd book in the Fourth-Born series. Which is a cross world from the Secrets and Curses series (1-5).
I devoured this book. You will meet the God of Desire and a sassy little priestess. The priestess has no clue who this beautiful green eyed hunk of a man could be. She has never laid eyes on him. She has only heard his deep, smokey, seductive voice. When the mysterious man continues to come to confessions day after day, she starts to question her beliefs. Can he lead her into temptation? Will he learn of her darkest secrets? Secrets she has kept hidden so well for so long. Will the priestess succeed in her duty to the realm or will she let him drag her to the deepest depths of temptation????

I think the fact I devoured this book in a day speaks absolute volumes!
It’s forbidden, it’s seductive, it’s oh so delicious. I was completely absorbed in the story between the God of Desire and his mate.
When Maris, who was forced into the life of servitude in a temple crosses paths with our delicious God of Desire, what unfolds is a story full of passion and longing. Absolutely delicious seduction and angst. The back and forth between the two was enrapturing to read. I loved Maris’ feistiness, once she decides on what she wants my girl is not afraid to spell it out loud. Who knew she had all that beneath the innocence of the temple clothing?!
Our God of Desire has to be one of my favourite characters so far from this entire series. His passion and ability to flirt his way right into the heart of Maris was a delight to read.

Another top book in this series.
I have loved this series and been lucky enough to read the 3 back to back because Lord knows my patience wouldn't have held out to wait and see what happened next.
I loved reading the God of Desire and seeing how he would interact with a priestess who had been taught everything about him was a sin.
This book didn't disappoint, I loved watching the relationship between them grow and Maris growth from 'religion' because of having to hide in the convent to her acceptance of who she has been all along and what she truly wanted.
The 4🌟 for me over 5 was because I felt like I was waiting the fantasy aspect to start. I loved reading their relationship develop but the previous two books were heavy on action and the 'cause' and this one didn't really have as much as the previous two. Not that it detracts from the book, just having binged the previous two I was feeling impatient.
I absolutely can't wait for the next book, that definitely feels like the story I've been holding out for.
I was unbelievably fortunate to receive this book as an Arc but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I can't wait to see what comes next!

Shay, you are a goddess. Your books never fail to captivate or disappoint, and Sins of the Gods is easily one of my favourites in the series. All three books have been absolutely phenomenal. I love the pacing of the story and how each book builds toward a powerful conclusion, while still being strong enough to stand alone in its own right. The way previous characters continue to weave back into the narrative adds such depth and continuity to the world.
Maris’s story, in particular, completely stole my heart. Her journey feels refreshingly different from the other Fourth Borns and gave me hope that not all of them are destined to be initially unloved. There is truly nothing to fault here. The slow burn is perfectly executed, creating an irresistible tension that is both exciting and emotionally charged. Maris is a beautifully crafted character; Resilient, powerful, and so easily underestimated because of her appearance. I simply cannot get enough of her.

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE ONE YET!! and I promise, they are all phenomenal so far. Oh my forbidden fruit! I devoured every second of this forbidden, desire stoking, dirty talking work of perfection. Something about secrets, angst, tension and longing gets me every single time. Maris is a devoted priestess with a lot of secrets. She meets a dark stranger who changes everything! Their worlds clash and the story unfolds beautifully.

Another great installation in the Fourth Born series by Shay Taylor. These can be read as standalones, but are really best in order to get the full story line for each of the characters you'll see. Fast paced and great storyline - I loved how Kieran pursued Maris, even when he's upset, he can't leave her be.
Maris is a pure priestess in the temple, so when a man starts to flirt with her during his confession, she doesn't know why she feels so drawn to him. Little does she know, he's the God of Desire and her fated mate. Only Maris has secrets of her own, and she has a destiny to follow first. Let's just hope that once their secrets are out, it doesn't destroy what they feel for each other - and that fate doesn't get in their way.

Thank you for allowing me to be an ARC reader! I’ve been eagerly awaiting this book, the third in the Fourth Born series and it was so good! I enjoyed the story line and each of the books following different couples but still bringing in the main characters from the first two books and also characters from Shay’s Secrets and Curses series. I enjoyed the storyline for this book and the descriptions of the characters and scenes. Shay’s writing is smooth, and flows really well has some great suspense at times where I’m so concerned about the outcome of what’s happening. I have a hard time putting her books down as I feel like I have to know how it will end. Can’t wait for the fourth and final book in this series!

This is my third arc in this series and I’m just so incredibly honored to read them! I’m consuming them as if my life depends on it and I just love the way Shay writes
While the first two were 5 star reads for me this one is only a 4 star. I love a good naughty religion book and it’s still “f*ck the gods🤪” but it fell a little flat on the fantasy conflict for me this read. Not that it’s a bad thing I just felt the other two were more conflict forward, romance secondary and this one was switched. But what would you expect with the god of desire. I’m still head over heels in love with the entire story line and plot points over all. The ending definitely set us up for a killer fourth book and I can’t wait to read more.

From beginning to end, I think out of the entire series this book had me on the edge of my seat. Waiting. Wanting more.
This book contains elements that are spicy, forbidden, and on a level I was not expecting!
This book follows Maris and the God of Desire’s story to save their realm. In similar fashion to Shadows of the Gods and Nightmares of the Gods there are so many twists and turns that will keep you up with the characters on your mind wondering the ifs and when’s and how things will end up. It’s spicy and sweet and full territorial in all aspects from the MMC and FMC.

Id you haven’t read her entire backlog please do so… if you want to skip ahead definitely read the fourth born series. The installments are short to binge in one sitting.. or over the course of a few days if you can handle the anticipation. I have said it before and I will say it again, Shay knows how to write men who are down bad for their women.

The way that the relationship between them builds is amazing! Once she finally embraces who she really is, she’s badass and has a Mate that will move Heaven and Earth for her and destroy anyone and anything that touches a hair on her head! Maris you sinful priestess 😉 Maris and Kieran’s story was so sweet and not what I expected at all. Her character evolved so much from a sheltered priestess to a strong ‘put her foot down’ kind of woman and Kieran was a flirt from the beginning!

This book, WOW, the twists and turns had me gasping every time something new happens. I was absolutely enthralled by this book. Maria and Kiernans story really had me captivated and I was rooting for Juda’s death, I was hoping it was sooner than it was but all in due time. The way these stories all connect and the revolution this book started has me begging for the next one. I’m also obsessed with Ares and Luther and I feel like I need a book on them. I’m so excited for what Calista dos and where this all ends. Catching me stalking Shay’s page until the new one comes out
