For me, it took a couple of tries to get into this book. The non-relationship between besties was a lot and I thought the plot point overshadowed the romance between Nova & Cody and then the ending was a rush to fit a relationship in. Don't get me wrong, it was cute and sweet and a holiday story that fit into the Christmas Falls universe, I just wanted more romance and more couple time then we got because both men were honorable and held back.

I'm sad too, that we're close to wrapping up another holiday season in Christmas Falls and I hope that we see another season in the future!

Kody & Nova

This is another cute addition to this series. I enjoyed reading as Kody and Nova got closer throughout the story. Their ending was sweet.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Kody and his best friend Jenna decide to get married to start a family, and Jenna decided to hire her best friend Nova, a wedding planner. Nova and Kody have an instant connection that both try to fight. It’s a great and sweet story as soon as Jenna is out of the picture. Rhys’s books are always great to read. A book with Christmas sweetness

AHHHH! We're back to Christmas Falls for Seasons Two!! Here's Rhys Everly's "Promise Yule Be Mine."

["I made a promise to my best friend and I intend to keep it.

So what if our wedding planner—and my fiancée's childhood friend—happens to be the best man I’ve ever met?

With the bride-to-be away and everything going wrong a month before the big day, t's up to me and my wedding planner to save the day.

But with each passing day, I'm starting to second guess this marriage of convenience and fall deeper for Nova.

How can I go ahead with this wedding, when the promise of a happily ever after with the man of my dreams is finally within reach?

And how can I show Nova that despite everything, I want forever with him."]

These two were hopeless. They each knew how they felt, Jenna knew how they felt, half of the town knew how they felt. But they were too stuck to their morals, as weak and/or fake as they were, to do anything about the growing and growing feelings.

And did those feelings grow. Nova said something like "but this isn't a Hallmark movie," and that silly man couldn't have been more wrong. It's Christmas Falls after all. ;) Christmas magic and true love are in the air (and the water (and the food (it's everywhere))).

I already want a third season of this. There's still SO many townsfolk that need their HEA.

This one was not my favorite. There were so many parts in here where the charade went on for too long, there were ridiculous, never would have happened in real life situations, and A LOT of mutual pining. Like, the whole book. There were also parts where there was some sort of time jump or there was no transitional part so I had no idea where we were or who was speaking anymore and had to go back and see what happened. I also couldn't stand Jenna at all, even though she was barely in this book.
I did like the fact that both MCs were some form of asexual, although this wasn't expanded upon other than designating labels and a brief explanation of what asexuality means for Kody. I feel like it was a bit of a cop-out for both MCs to identify the same way, seeing as it's pretty convenient the one man you're attracted to just happened to show up out of the blue and he's also ace. I think Kody's story would have had more of an impact if there was something about the relationship for them both to talk through and work on, rather than both of them being so perfect for each other they get married within a month. There's literally nothing they have to compromise on. I know this is a work of fiction and I shouldn't get hung up on all the things in here that were obviously impossible or unlikely to happen in real life, but the ridiculousness of the storyline mixed with the unblemished relationship made it hard for me to connect with the story and characters, despite the fact that I am also ace and happy to see that rep here. The story just moved too fast for me.

What could go wrong when two drunken best friends decide to tie the knot? Well, in this case, everything except meeting the wedding planner who turns out to be your other half. Cody & Nova just fit together. their beliefs and values align so well that everyone can see the truth. These two deny it as long as can until it's too much, and all the pieces fall into place. I simply adore all the side relationships of the characters and how supportive they are for one another and the choices they make, the good and bad they support those they love. What could be an angsty read is full of light heartdness and cheer, leading to a swoon worthy hea. A great addition to the great season of Christmas Falls.

Promise Yule Be Mine is part of the multi author Christmas Falls: Season 2 series. Each book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the rest of the series. This is the story of Kody and Nova. During a drunken moment Kody and his friend Jenna decide to marry so they can have a family. Jenna introduces Kody her old best friend and the wedding planner she chose, then tells them she has to work so they will have to plan the wedding. This was quite the story of pining. These two have chemistry from the start but neither wants to act on it because of their promises. I loved watching these two figure everything out. This was just a great story. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

I’ve read this Author before. This book is part of season two of Christmas Falls, a multi Author series. The main characters are in New York wedding planner Nova and local pub owner Kody. This story starts with wedding plans for best friends, Jenna and Kody. Jenna meets up with her first best friend Nova. The story takes many twists and turns. I’ll read more from this series.

This was just really not for me. I can normally get behind a wacky plot, but this one didn't work because it actually keeps the MCs apart. They never really discuss what's going on with anyone else either; it's just internal monologues about how much they love the other one, but the whole time they're feeling like terrible cheaters because they don't know the whole story.

Promise Yule Be Mine by Rhys Everly is book 9 in the second season of Christmas Falls. Kody Campbell has drunkenly agreed to marry his best friend Jenna. They are not in love, but they turn to each other thinking this is their only option to have a family. They bring in Jenna’s friend, Nova, to plan the wedding. Nova and Kody are drawn to each other but try to resist due to their love and care for Jenna. I liked the story, but felt like things progressed a little too quickly for my taste. Kody was willing to give up all of his dreams of romantic love in order to not let Jenna down. They both were too young to be giving up. I did enjoy Nova and Kody together, but it was just missing something for me. I cannot believe that this season is almost over!

This is the major clunker of this series. It's so bad I had to skim the last part of the book because it's just B-O-R-I-N-G. None of the characters in this book are interesting because they're all one-dimensional with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

If you're going to do a fake relationship, then you should probably go all out, at least for a bit. Here, the bi dude and his best gal friend he's agreed to marry show no motivation, no pretense to be at least a little bit happy and excited, and definitely no chemistry with each other. The wedding planner who catches the eye of the intended groom has no ethics, as he discovers his growing attachment yet does nothing about stepping aside lest he upset the marriage plans of his best friend (the woman).

Then it turns out one of the MCs is ace, but we just find out 55% into the story. But don't worry! The other guy is also ace, as coincidences abound! (sorry, spoiler!)

Plus, this author just can't write very well. It's bland, with dialogue that sounds fake and almost AI written. There is very little passion in this book, not just sexual passion, but any kind of passion. Nothing makes me care about Nova (really?) or the other two people whose name I've already forgotten.

This whole book is creepy and exploitative. I wondered if I had read this author before, and the only other book was in the Vino and Veritas series, "Insatiable," which also got a one star rating from me for its poorly written and creepy vibe. I've *got* to remember to avoid this author in the future.

Reviewed for Love Bytes – 4 hearts.
Kody and Jenna have no luck in romance with others. So, one drunken night, they agreed to a marriage that was convenient for each other. Kody is Bi, so few bat an eye at the childhood friends getting wed. Then Jenna bumps into her gay childhood friend Nova. Sod's law kicks in, in that when a person’s not looking for someone - the perfect one comes into your life.
Promise Yule Be Mine is one in a collection of Christmas stories reviewed through December. And quite rightly, it is packed with sugar, mistletoe, and cheese, with no hard feelings and happy endings.
The story is told in the first person from the viewpoints of Kody and Nova. Tales in the first person tend to lean towards being dialogue-rich, which holds true here. The dialogue is also conversational, with few descriptions, which may be true to life. Still, it occasionally confused me over who was talking with little tone or inflexion. Despite not being a fan of dialogue-heavy writing, I understand many will love the intimacy of the style. That being said, the banter between family and friends was endearing and highlighted familial connections.
Kody is a sweet man with confidence issues, and Jenna frequently has that look of ‘I know what's happening here’. When Kody and Nova meet, their interactions share lots of classic moments such as brushed fingers that send tingles up the arms, swallowed frogs and internal monologues stating how ‘screwed’ they were. Brotherly interference and other characters often see what Kody and Nova refuse to acknowledge to each other. I must admit that Kody’s brother, Nikita, lights the page with every appearance. My heart also went out to Kody as he had the heartache of making a promise to a best friend that he may have to break. What made this tale different was the asexual aspect. It made a refreshing change to read a story that highlighted other ways of showing intimacy – other than sex.
Promise Yule Be Mine is a sweet story set in a small town dedicated to Christmas. Often, what’s on the horizon was foreseeable, but what the heck, this is a Christmas yarn where sparkle and classic scenarios are a must and Christmas wishes come true.

~~Ace rep
Perfect pairing
Pet lovers
Holiday romance
And a Meddling best friend~~

I loved the first season of Christmas Falls and I have loved this second season just as much, it's simply amazing!!

This story starts off with Kody and his best friend Jenna deciding they're going to get married and give up on true love... But when Jenna reconnects with her childhood best friend, and it turns out he's a wedding planner, things don't go as they planned... Kody starts to fall for Nova who's kind, thoughtful, sweet, creative, and everything Kody wants and more. That is the dilemma that these two men had to figure out a long the way.

I found this to be creative, well written, and truly beautiful. I loved how Rhys had these two men get to know each other throughout the course of the story. Yes they were planning a wedding for Jenna and himself originally, but while they were doing that, they learned more about one another. Which really showed how much chemistry these two have together on the pages. I thought it was cool that both of the MC's still live with their families and how they are happy and proud of that. As someone who lives with her family as an adult it was awesome seeing that depicted in a positive light instead of a negative one.

Kody's pets were described so cutely and their names are so festive and fun!! It was so adorable that he took them on a date with him and Nova. Talk about adorable!

I liked how Kody and Nova's relationship was built up, there was a bit of a slow-burn which made the moment they admitted their feelings to each other that more intense and amazing. What I loved the most was the positive Asexual representation in this story, the scene where Kody is explaining to Nova about him being Asexual, I could absolutely relate to. It was just handled so beautifully and realistically, and for both of the MC's to be Ace was really fantastic.

Overall an amazing holiday romance story full of love, a mischievous best friend, pets with festive names, and wonderful representation.

Kody & Nova
For some reason, this book was a slow-starter for me. I'm not sure what it was because I love Rhys Everly books and everything related to Christmas Falls. The story did pick up and by then I was fully invested in Kody & Nova's happiness. It was an interesting evolution of their relationship, because it was certainly a different plot idea than I'd read before from Christmas Falls. But then again, the differences were done well and were all very cute and well-integrated into the authors' shared universe.

I loved the subtle coverage for each MC's status with physical intimacy. It absolutely showed their compatibility while also highlighting some of the difficulties people face in their realities & relationships.

Both Kody & Nova were super sweet individuals, and you couldn't help but root for them. I get the feeling that while many in the town wanted to be surprised by their eventual coupling, if they'd thought about it and had seen Kody & Nova together in town at any time, it'd never been a true surprise, just one of those "I thought so," moments.

I enjoyed Promise Yule Be Mine and its inclusion into the Christmas Falls universe. It's awesome to read the stories from authors who participated in season 1, but I'm really loving reading the stories created by those new to the shared universe. They have better and sometimes easier options for small cameos, although I loved having Rhett thrown in there because I remember Keaton & Milo's story from Elite Connections and Rhys' individual printing of Text Me Like You Love Me. Even though his part in this book was small, Rhett makes just enough of an impression to easily remember him. I wonder if he'll get his HEA one day...

Promise Yule Be Mine is a very sweet love story with low (relationship) angst and a slow--but perfect--burn build. I really enjoyed it and look forward to rereading it again with all the other Christmas Falls stories once Hayden's final book in the series is released.

I received an advance copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

Kody is the owner of the White Elephant, a pub and eatery, in Christmas Falls. After his best friend Jenna has a disastrous romance, he and she drunkenly decide to forego love and marry each other so they can start a family. Kody has been equally unsuccessful in that department due to his asexuality. Jenna runs into an old-time best friend, Nova, who is a wedding planner in New York. She hires him to organize her wedding, but on introducing him to Kody, both are thunderstruck each other. While watching the Parade of Lights, Jenna, a flight attendant, advises Kody and Nova that she has to work and that the guys will have to continue the preparations for the wedding. What follows is mutual pining because they both are aware of their situations – Kody of the promise he made to Jenna and Nova of his position as his best friend’s wedding planner. They overcome these obstacles on their way to a happy ending.

This is a good character study of two guys struggling with their attraction to each other. I found myself cheering them on, despite my knowing that there will be a happy ending. I got a kick out of seeing them struggle with their tendency to blurt things out, to their embarrassment. The plot is straightforward, with the odd surprise in it. Though there are several secondary characters, two tend to stick out: Jenna who appears throughout the story and Nikita who is Kody’s brother makes equally frequent appearances. I loved them both. The remaining characters, many from both seasons of the series, are all important to the storyline. I particularly loved Nova’s fangirling for his favourite author, who lives in Christmas Falls.

Like the other novels in the series, it’s easily a stand-alone, but I recommend the whole series in whatever order.

When it comes to love, Kody just can’t seem to find his person. And turns out, neither can his best friend, Jenna. So after having maybe a bit too much to drink, Jenna proposes (literally) that maybe they should save themselves the trouble of love and marry one another. Sure, they aren’t in love with one another. But hey, they are best friends. They want to have a family. They can do that together, right? Thus begins their terrible idea. But figures not too long after, love decides to find Kody…in the shape of Jenna’s childhood friend, Nova. Their wedding planner. Kody knows he is in trouble the moment he sees Nova. Never has he felt like this before. But he knows he can’t do anything about it. He made a promise to Jenna. He can’t just back out. And with his luck in love? How does he know that Nova won’t break his heart? Nova is in trouble. When he agreed to help an old friend out, he thought it would be great to help her plan her wedding and catch up. But from the beginning things seemed a bit strange with this wedding. Like how neither of them have plans yet plan to get married in a few short weeks? Or how unenthusiastic they seem to be. But Nova’s biggest problem? The moment he sees to groom it’s like lightning strikes. He can’t fall for the groom. He can’t! But why does it feel like maybe Kody is making him think the opposite? This story was insane! It was ridiculous and pretty funny and I just couldn’t take my eyes off the train wreck that you know was coming. It’s definitely one of those stories that you just have to find out what happens and see how it all plays out.

A cute, sweet rom-com set in Christmas Falls, a town that celebrates and embraces Christmas year round in one way or another. Kody and his best friend Jenna have decided to accept a marriage of convenience to start a family since both have given up on love, that is until Jenna’s friend Nova arrives as the wedding planner. Sparks fly between the two, there is interest on both sides, but Kody won’t go back on a promise and Nova won’t poach his best friend’s fiancé. As the wedding plans continue under Nova’s watchful eye, it seems little progress has been made and the wedding is bit more than a month away. Then begins a comedy of errors and a bit of pre-wedding chaos until the two actually meant to be together become the victim of behind the scenes wedding sabotage, leading to a different HEA than originally planned.

Cute characters, with Kody and Nova believing neither will ever find someone to love them, and Jenna in the background having changed her mind but continually stirring the pot without saying anything. An entertaining comedy of errors continually throw Kody and Nova together, creating more uncomfortable feelings as they try to stay true to what they believe is real. This is an unusual book from the standpoint of two characters who are ace. Great appearances by characters from other books in the series, as well as a wealth of possibilities for other books from secondary characters in this one. Entertaining read for the holiday season, and a great addition to the Christmas Falls family.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.

This book is part of the multi-author Christmas Falls Season 2 series. This is the story of Kody and Nova. Kody has taken over the family bar, The White Elephant. Drunk and hurting after another relationship crashed and burned, Jenna and Kody decide to marry each other. They were best friends for years and this way they both could have the family that they want so desperately. Things go according to plan until Jenna runs into her childhood friend Nova. He is a wedding planner and Jenna invites him back to Christmas Falls to help with her and Kody's wedding. Now Nova and the town don't know that it isn't a love match between Jenna and Kody. But everyone and his dog can see the sparks flying between the soon to be groom and the wedding planner. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. I have to admit that I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. While I liked Nova and Kody as a couple, I didn't really like how they behaved. With the whole town and their own families asking if they cancelled the wedding yet, a few flags should have gone up. This is not one of my favourite books in the series. Overall it is an enjoyable book. After all, it is part of the Christmas Falls holiday series. Holiday magic always happens.

I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Just didn't work for me

The whole premise of the story was ridiculous, the longer it went on. Kody agreed to marry his best friend, because neither of them had much luck in relationships, so they could start a family and be platonically happy together. Then Jenna's oldest best friend, Nova, arrives as their wedding planner and it's insta-love for both Kody and Nova.
What follows is just plain daft and unbelievable. In a small town where everybody knows everybody and gossip is the town's lifeblood, there's no way Kody's and Jenna's behaviour would wash for so long. It got to be painful, especially with the two men pining openly but not talking about it at all. Kody's insistence on following through with his promise, without even talking to Jenna about his feelings for Nova, was beyond silly. And don't even get me started on Jenna's behaviour throughout. I knew what had changed for her at the family dinner, before Nova's arrival in Christmas Falls, and I couldn't stand her. Even she says she's flaky and that's the understatement of the decade.
Don't get me wrong, Kody and Nova were sweet men, completely deserving of finding love and happiness. I'm glad they found each other and their HEA but I wish the getting there had been handled differently.

Promise Yule be Mine is Rhys Everly's contribution to the second season of the multi author m/m small-town Christmas Falls series.
Run away groom?
One night while drinking and complaining about MEN, best friends Jenna and Kody drunkenly decide to marry in order to have a child. An old friend of Jenna's, Nova is a wedding planner. When he arrives in Tennessee in order to make the arrangements, he meets the groom-to-be and is instantly attracted. When work calls her away, Jenna pushes Kody and Nova to plan the wedding, making the attraction harder to resist.
Considering the 'let's just deny our attraction' attempt, there's very little angst. A little pining. Just a sweet, lite, Hallmark-y type story with two adorable men. The worldbuilding fits into the Christmas Falls universe. There's lots of humor and some sweet animals. Former MCs from the both seasons pop in for support. And all the magic of the Christmasiest city in America.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.

Wow! Some promises are meant to be broken. When emotions are high, a marriage pact is presented and now is the time to follow through. It should be easy enough to get everything you've ever wanted in life. But when you meet your bride's childhood friend turned wedding planner, your world is turned upside down. Kody wants it all and he is so close but when everything he wants comes in the fun and colorful package of Nova, he is hard pressed to keep his promise. Nova has the opportunity to do a friend a favor and build his portfolio but one look at Kody and he's unsure he can fulfill his promises. This is a beautifully written push and pull and well deserved HEA. The intimate moments are sweet and swoony and very much for in line with our MMCs. Also as there are not very many well written interracial MM holiday story, this one is definitely worth reading. There are no grand overtures about the characters and their races rather an acknowledgement of their differing attributes. I love this series and season 2 is giving season 1 a run for his money.

Nice addiction to the Christmas Fall series, this time it's Kody and Nova's turn to fall in love.
I liked both the MCs, they're sweet and easygoing and I loved that they actually got to know each other very well before jumping in a relationship. I also liked very much how supportive they were of one aother.
Sadly I think that the farce of the arranged marriage went too long, I would have liked way less pining.
I also wasn't a huge fan of Jenna and the whole "let's get married plan" was a little too unbelievable: I didn't mind their plan during their drunken night, but they should have planned their future relationship analysing every details before putting the plan in motion, for example what would happen if one of them fell in love for real? How long did they plan to get married? How could they lie to their own children about not loving each other as husband and wife?

The Secret Santa it's still a secret, I hope their identity will be reveled in the next final book.

I received an ARC of this book from Neon Rainbow and this is my honest review.

Rhys Everly kept the story moving in this first read by me of his work.

This is a low angst, outcome-visible story that is cute, relatable, and good. It is the story of friends who elect to marry each other to offset their dismal dating disasters of the past. However, the close proximity of a best friend to the bride, the wedding planner, and her fiancé leads to a blossoming appreciation for the shortcomings in each of their previous relationships.

It is told wonderfully with little fluff and with an intimacy of their innermost thoughts. The story appears valid when reading and laughable when finished. The HEA is guaranteed, and I am very hopeful for an appearance in Season 3 of Christmas Falls.

Two words in the novel beg a question about the author's experience with the lands of England, where a flashlight is a torch and a sweater is a jumper. They're the only things that seem a bit out of place in this well-written story.

I wanted to like this book, I really did ... but for me it was a 2 or 2.5 star read. The premise was implausible, to put it kindly, but I was willing to suspend my disbelief for a Christmas Falls tale. I found Jenna, the best friend to both MCs, to be thoroughly unlikeable. It seemed ridiculous that the charade underpinning the story continued as long as it did. While I applaud writing a story with all colors of the rainbow, the likelihood of 2 ACE characters finding each other seemed slim to none. Plus I really enjoy the intimate scenes in MM romance, which were missing from this story (for valid reasons, but I'm still not a fan). Finally, some of the dialog was eye-rollingly bad. There were moments I really enjoyed, but those were outweighed by far too many scenes that I didn't enjoy. This is only the second story I've read by this author, and while I loved his story in the Elite Connections Anthology, I may not continue reading anything further in his backlog.

Fake relationship, forced proximity, forbidden feelings, fiance's best friend and the fluffiest fluff around.

This book has the cute and fluffy romance that only Ace relationships seem to have. This book has no spice, but it doesn't lack in emotional heat, bonding and all the feels.

Now when I list all the tropes out, it isn't like just a sprinkle of that trope. It's all these tropes taken to the extreme.

When Wedding planner Nova ends up meeting the man of his dreams in Kody, he is utter stumped. Not because of his Sexuality, but because Kody is his Best friend's fiance and he is helping plan their wedding.

NOW that sounds like a train wreck right? But the marriage Betwen Jenna and Kody isn't one of pure romantic love. You get the tension from the forbidden longing from both MMCs. And honestly Jenna is such a messy gem lol.

If you want a sweet, tense and finding your forever person at the wrong time... this book is totally for you.

3.75 Stars!

I am pleased to say how I enjoyed these unusual MM Romance! I'm so happy an author was able to write a romance about 2 individuals on the Ace Spectrum and had absolutely no Spice but soooooo much tension. On top of that, the plot/set up was so unique that it grabbed my attention.

It was a Slow -Burn, No-Burn romance. Love at first sight, a wedding planner falls for the groom. The Scandal! But this is Christmas Falls, miracles happen... when someone starts canceling wedding orders behind the planner back.

--"I mean the way that man looks at you is what rom-coms are made of."--

With both characters being Ace/Demisexual, there are no spicy scenes. And I respect that completely because it's realistic. The ensemble was fun and we got to see some of our other guys around town. The secret Santa struck again with still no answer to who it could be. Some details and dialog was very repetitive throughout the novel, which erked me a bit.

Rare DNF, least liked of a wonderful series

This is my first read by this author. Three stars because it appears to be written and edited well.

Why I stopped at 17%:
(1) Dislike of character Jenna.
(2) I've just binged this entire series, in order, so the side characters are fresh in my mind. Allowing that these stories are taking place over generally the same time period, this is the only one that felt disjointed from the rest. Hard to explain. The place names were included, but the connections weren't there that I felt from page 1 in the other books.
(3) Not sure how to say this but I found the MC character descriptions jarring. Nova got pink lips, where Kody's description was nearly poetic. I don't know if this author often includes non-white appearing characters, but this makes me not want to find out.

I read the other reviews and the twist has me curious. Might finish eventually.🤷‍♀️
