Monique writes stories about following your gut and figuring life out along the way (spoiler: she's still figuring it out.)

She'd almost always rather have her nose in a book than do just about anything else. When she's not creating her own fictional worlds and characters, she's totally lost in someone else's.
And on those rare occasions when she's not reading or writing? She's either jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, exploring ocean depths, or nursing a massive coffee addiction while her dog Bobbi gives her judgmental looks from across the room.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️

I’m beyond speechless after finishing this and I don’t even know where to start or if I’m even going to make sense.

No words will ever be able to express how much this book made me feel and how much I loved it. I feel like this is hard to write your typical review for because Verses is something that each person who gets to experience it will take something different with then after finishing it, every single time.

Verses was the most beautiful, raw and vulnerable piece of writing I have ever read in my entire life. I think I need some time to sit and process my thoughts but I have never had someone’s writing affect me in the way Mon’s does. The way she made me feel so seen and my feelings validated in a time in my life when I needed it the most.

Mon’s writing is just pure magic, words you feel to the very depths of your soul. I know this will stay with me forever and know it will be something I go back to over and over, through different stages of my life. When I need a gentle reminder that I’m not too much and it’s okay to be feeling whatever I’m feeling in the moment. I can’t wait to have a physical copy because I just know I will be annotating it and carrying it with me everywhere.

I will be making many posts on this incredible book but for now my emotions are super high but what I will say is I think Verses is going to help a lot of people. I will forever recommend anything Mon writes but this is just something extraordinarily special and definitely my favourite book I have EVER read, I’ve never experienced anything like it before.

Thank you so much Mon for the opportunity to beta read for you again, I’m forever grateful for you. My top two reads of the year have been Before We Were and now Verses thank you for sharing your words with us 🥹🩷

A book you can pick up whenever you need a gentle and comforting reminder.

“I hope these pages become a mirror. Not the kind that shows you how to perform but the kind that shows you how to belong. To yourself. To your story. To your own particular way of seeing and feeling the world.”

Monique doesn’t sugar coat anything. Verses brings a lot of good points - some I never even thought about. Reading this felt like a warm hug from someone you’ve known your entire life, and you feel a sense of comfort from it, but also a sense of peace knowing everything your experiencing in life is exactly what others are experiencing and that loneliness you have every so often suddenly doesn’t feel so heavy.

Taking every part of what being a human actually is and dissecting it layer by layer. Putting realness into perspective, and knowing it’s ok to just be. Self acceptance and life experiences are things that shape us as people. The conclusion that everything happens for a reason and nothing is set in stone. It makes you think, it makes you realize different parts of yourself and understand why you react the way you do to certain situations. It helps you understand yourself while we transition through life.

Monique’s writing is just pure poetry & she is a mastermind with words that just speak to your soul and I will literally read anything she writes. When I was asked to beta read this - I didn’t hesitate in the slightest. This is a book I’ll be going back to, and buying for friends and family.

Verses is a huge reminder to be more gentle with ourselves as we navigate our individual lives, and making sense of things that sometimes don’t make sense.

i just finished this and i feel speechless yet have so much to say? monique has this beautiful way of just making it feel like she wrote something specifically for you because every word you read i just been like “oh wow someone finally gets it” or “oh wait i never thought of it like this but it makes so much sense” . i’m a person that has struggled with alot of the things she wrote about and it felt like such a breathe of fresh air for me to read about the real non sugar coated way of things like it was deep and needed. i feel like i read this at the exact time i needed it and it is one of those where i will go back to it when things feel too much to deal with or don’t understand what is going on. i never really read non fiction but ofc loving monique’s work so much i wanted to read this and thank god i did because again i just really needed this. mon thank you for always being vulnerable with us and writing these type of books , i know you will help people with this you definitely are helping me with it so thank you !

I was so honoured to be selected as an arc reader for this masterpiece by Monique. This was such a beautiful book that had me tearing up in the last chapter. I love the way her brain works and the way she writes, it’s so similar to my train of thoughts and it was so nice to read. I’ll definitely be coming back to this book to reference certain chapters. Wow Monique has done it again!!! Brilliant perfection amazing ahhhh love it

Wow is the only word I have to describe this book! I am so thankful that I was able to read this early because this has honestly changed my life in the best way imaginable.

This whole story is centered around individual words being applied to real life situations which sounds so different right but I promise it makes total sense! Monique would start each chapter with a word, she would then give you the definition of that word before then applying it to real life situations to show you how that word could reshape the way you see life as a whole.

This book made me sit there and really think about my life, about the decisions I have made and the way in which I perceive the world. I related so much to a lot of things in this book like it was actually crazy. The way this book showcases that growth isn't always linear, that sometimes people come into our life to teach us important lessons before leaving, how the people we love are reflected through ourselves and our mannerisms made so much sense in my brain and kind of made me have a moment where I thought I'm so glad I'm not the only person that thinks like this! Also, the way Monique spoke about grief and death I don't even have words for because it all just clicked into place for me.

I have always been someone that asks questions about a lot of things in life so in a way this book was like a reflection of each thought and feeling I have experienced over the years. Some things had me thinking about why I've never looked at a situation the way she has described and honestly it showed me a whole new perspective.

I took my time reading this book, I kept coming back to pick it up when I was seeking answers, when I wanted to really take something new into account. I honestly believe every single person should read this at least once in their lifetime because I think it will change the way you view yourself, others and the world. This was not just a spiritual journey it was also a mental and emotional one that sometimes hit you right in the feels but that was the intended purpose.

Words will never do this book justice; it's just something you have to experience for yourself.

❤️Verses by Monique Medved❤️

Verses is a quietly powerful collection that feels like a long, late-night conversation with someone who truly understands you. Part poetry, part reflection, this book reaches into the places we often avoid. It tackles topics such as heartbreak, self-doubt, and grief, to name a few, and somehow turns them into something gentle and illuminating ✨

Each poem and passage lands like a whisper of reassurance. There is pain here, yes, but also resilience, clarity, and the quiet magic of surviving. You can feel Monique’s humanity on every page, the way she holds space for uncertainty, for small joys, for the messy middle of becoming. There is a rhythm to her voice, a sense of growth that unfolds organically as the pages progress, and by the end, you feel as if you’ve evolved alongside her 🥹

The book isn’t a typical self-help book and doesn’t try to fix you or preach. Instead, it meets you right where you are, holding space for your grief, confusion, and hope. That’s what makes it feel so special, it is less a book you read and more one you experience ❤️

Poignant, healing, and quietly transformative, Verses is the kind of book you’ll return to whenever you need to feel seen. Monique writes for anyone who has ever been told they feel too much, and she reminds us that feeling deeply is not a weakness, but a gift. A reminder that I truly needed..

Thank you so much to @authormoniquemedved for sending me a digital copy to review 🙏🏻 I will definitely be grabbing a physical copy for my collection and to return to over time.

This book hit me where it hurts and put me back together again. Thank you Mon for sharing this with the world - I needed to hear so much of it. I’ve questioned so much about myself and my life, and can safely say I have taken away so many learnings.

Never ceases to amaze me how well Mon writes! So beyond impressed every single time. 💓

I’m so grateful to have received an early copy of Verses by Monique Medved, and even more grateful to call Monique a friend. This collection is such a beautifully honest reflection of heartbreak, growth, and healing. Her words feel raw and real very much like a quiet conversation with someone who truly understands what it means to break and rebuild yourself. Each section carries emotion in its simplest form, reminding you that there’s beauty in vulnerability and strength in softness.

Some pieces felt a little abstract or repetitive, but that didn’t take away from the emotional impact or the sincerity behind each verse. I’m so proud of Monique for creating something that feels this genuine and relatable. Verses is a stunning collection and a testament to Monique’s talent, heart, and courage. This collection that will stay with readers long after the final page.

Here’s what I read to gently ease myself into the new year — a soft, poetic self-help book that feels like someone whispering truths you already knew, but needed to hear out loud.

It reminded me that familiar doesn’t always mean safe, and that sometimes the paths we know too well keep us from growing in the ways we’re meant to. Growth can hurt, but it’s the kind of ache that shapes you.

I loved how the book speaks to the idea that you’re not your physical self — you’re your awareness, the quiet observer tucked behind every thought, feeling, and shift. And that life isn’t a rigid timeline but a collection of chapters. Your confident self? Your softer self? Your brave self? They’re all still there — just waiting in a different chapter to be revisited.

One of my favourite reminders: we can’t freeze time. And maybe that’s the point. The change, the passing, the movement — that’s what makes life tender and precious.

The passages on relationships felt especially grounding. That temporary people don’t diminish the depth of a connection. That love doesn’t require possession. And sometimes the deepest relationships are the ones that teach us how to let go gracefully.

And perhaps the softest nudge: be careful not to cling to one role — we’re allowed to shift, stretch, outgrow, begin again.

Perfect for those on-the-go moments, this book is filled with short, easy-to-read poetic verses you can dip into between errands, morning coffees, or train rides.

♾️🌟🤩 I’m yet to find work from Monique that doesn’t touch the soul, this book is very different from her first novel, it’s not fictional but wow is it inspiring, deep thought provoking and, for those already thick in the journey of life or even just starting their journey of discovery, very much so a masterpiece of observation and I’d find it very difficult to find someone with whom it doesn’t resonate with.

Mon has a very beautiful writing style that is so easy to immerse into, it feels like a reflection of her life lessons learned and the observations made along the way, shared and expressed in a poetic way. I’ve recommended this beautiful book to close friends and even people seeking recs for something thought provoking and insightful. This book feels like a “passing of the torch” to help deepen one’s own experiences that really makes you pause to reflect on the “verses” written and each one feeling like you see yourself in them. I lost count of how many times I cried lost in the pages. This book was written for the soul!

I so love the connection Mon has with the written word and they ways she is able to connect those with her readers. She is a bomb and I love everything I’ve read from her thus far. I know you’ve smashed it out of the park with this one!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

“Welcome to the conversation that has been waiting for you your entire life.”

This book felt like reading pages from my own journal, as if Mon had been inside my mind, gathering every thought and every conversation I’d had on repeat, and turning them into something that not only makes sense but makes me feel truly seen.

I’ve been having these same conversations for years, but something was always missing. Mon gives voice to my inner thoughts and somehow makes them clear, as though the missing piece of the puzzle has finally been placed on the page.

This guide to my life is a gentle reality check, one I had been searching for without even realising it.

It feels like an intimate, heartfelt conversation with a friend- the kind that changes you. It’s the kind of book that leaves you a better person than when it found you.

I’m not surprised, because Mon has a rare depth and wisdom that continues to make a real difference.

This is the kind of book that needs to live next to your bed, in your handbag, on your desk and in your car. The kind that whatever you’re going through is going to help bring perspective in where it’s desperately needed.

If the assignment was ‘make it make sense’ - this is an A+

A huge thank you to Monique for the opportunity to read this book early. I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy so I can annotate the hell out of it, and re-read it again (and again).

This will be my go-to gift for family and friends this Christmas — it’s that powerful. I don’t usually read non-fiction, but this was so beautifully written and I loved every single page. I truly believe the universe placed this book in my hands because I needed to heal a little more — and Monique, for that, I thank you deeply.

This book will hit everyone differently, but one thing’s for sure: Monique’s writing is absolutely off the charts. Her words flow straight from the heart and land exactly where they’re meant to.

I’m so honoured to have been an ARC reader for both of Monique’s books, and each time, she completely blows me away with her talent and authenticity.

No matter your age or stage in life, this book will resonate with you. It’s the kind of book that becomes your bible, your comfort, your reminder that the universe always has your back.

Thank you, Monique — forever grateful. 💫

Wow. Just wow.

This book feels like receiving a much needed, warm hug—a hug that makes you feel valued. Healed.

Mon has an amazing style of writing where you don’t just feel seen. Instead, she highlights and honours individual uniqueness and why that makes us all belong, making you feel truly admired and loved.

Not only is this book a sort of self help book, but it’s like reading one big poem. The prose literally invites you into the book, allowing you to experience everything, so you don’t just read but FEEL the words that have been written.

Also I really enjoyed the structure of this book. Because of course, it’s not your typical book. Instead the definitions of words replace chapters where then after, Mon provides her own beautiful and heart wrenching definition, one that resonates with us all.

This book however, isn’t one to read in a single sitting. Instead, it’s one to go back to, over and over again, rereading the parts that connect with the environment, your current situations, or just simply, you.

Thank you Mon for allowing me to ARC read this, it’s a read I’ll never forget xx

🦋 What if time isn’t a river we’re floating down, but an ocean we’re swimming in and we’ve just convinced ourselves we can only move in one direction 🦋

Aaahhhh!!
There’s honestly no amount of words I could put together to give this book the recognition it deserves!!!
This book healed a little part of me that I didn’t know needed healing. It was like a warm hug or a gentle reminder that whatever it is you’re going through, you’re not going through it alone. It encourages you to take a deep dive into your soul, into who you REALLY are.

Monique just has a way with words that made this book feel so so so special, and I just know that I’m going to be coming back to this book over and over again throughout my life during the many challenges we inevitably face.

I don’t even know how to describe what this book is other than saying that it is pure ✨magic ✨ like poetry for the soul!! I think everyone should read it!

Mon has truly done it again. I’m constantly in awe of how effortlessly she write. Whether it’s fiction or non-fiction, her words always flow straight from the heart. I feel so thankful to have been able to read this ARC, and every time I pick up one of her books, I can feel pieces of her heart and soul woven into every page.

Versus is breathtakingly raw, poetic, and soul-crushing in the most beautiful way. It broke me and healed me all at once. The writing completely consumed me, I finished it and immediately had to read it again. I wish this book had existed when I was younger; it’s the kind of story that makes you feel understood in ways you didn’t know you needed.

This book made me feel seen. It felt like a warm, gentle hug—intimate, comforting, and deeply personal, as if Mon had written it just for me.

I can’t wait to see what she creates next, and I feel so lucky to call her a friend. 🥰

4.5 ⭐️ — A soulful and thought-provoking read

VERSES is not just a book — it’s an emotional experience. Poetic, grounding, and deeply human, it explores the layers of thought, love, and vulnerability that connect us all. Each piece feels like a mirror reflecting different moments of awareness, resilience, and emotion we’ve lived or shared — with ourselves, loved ones, or even strangers.

This is the kind of book you want to hold in your hands, underline, and return to again and again. Every verse speaks differently depending on where you are in life — and that’s what makes it timeless.

A beautiful, freeing piece of writing that lingers long after the last page. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

And once again, thank you Monique to this beautiful piece of art and for sharing with me in the early days ✨✨🫶🏻

Firstly, for the opportunity to receive this ARC read.

Thank you for allowing me to come on this journey with you. All of you.

VERSES is a beautiful piece of writing.

Poetic, grounding, freeing. Exploring layered deep human thought processes, frequencies and connections.

VERSES of vulnerability, awareness, resilience and love.

Questions and thoughts we have maybe asked ourselves or discussed with loved ones at some point in our lives. Even strangers.

No matter what age, we can all take or come back to certain sections or if not all VERSES in this book.

I myself can not wait to have a physical copy in my hands, to have near and annotate. To come back to time again.

Mirrors written through us all

Can't wait for the next one.....

Do you crave something deeper than just surface level story telling?
Words that are beautifully crafted to validate your thoughts & quirks and that stir a sense of relief in you that someone has finally done it, they’ve captured how you feel when you thought it was impossible to do so? Ok well look no further.

Monique’s writing is addicted and so well put together, she’s truly gifted and I soak up her words like a sponge!

Read this whenever you’re feeling a bit lost, or emotional or even just looking for a sign or deeper meaning… I guarantee there will be something in this book that resonates with you.

This is the type of book that can speak to anyone, because at least some sections will hit you. I read an ARC, but this is the kind of book that once it’s out on Kindle you know will have dozens of highlighted passages on every page.

I’m excited to read more from Monique, because I think what she wrote here will hit even harder when experienced within the context of characters and stories.

It’s hard to rate a book like this when you’re reading an amalgamation of insights that might land differently depending on the moment you’re in.

Honored to be an arc reader for this book.
This book is something I definitely want to have as a physical copy, that I can mark and add words to .
This is a book that I will go back to again and again.
Some chapters I reread because they resonated so much and I must of said ' that makes so much sense ' at least 20 times reading this.
Definitely not a book I would normally read and I'm so happy I read it.
Mon you really do have a way with words that will sit with people for a long time 💜

Grateful for the opportunity to be an ARC reader! A big thank you to Mon for choosing me. 🫶

This took me a little while to get through, purely because it’s not a genre that I’d usually gravitate to. However, the writing is so deep and engaging, that I found myself so interested in reading on—regardless of how long it took.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again—Mon’s writing is captivating, emotionally intelligent, and simply beautiful.

I feel super privileged to have been given an arc of this book!

Verses by Monique Medved is a deep, creative, self reflecting non-fiction book filled with so many insights on our thoughts, feelings and everything around us. For me, there was a lot of lightbulb moments as well as eye openers and I just feel really connected to what Monique has written.

An amazing book that I know I will keep going back to again and again.
