Annabelle Nash is a queer, neurodivergent author and illustrator in children’s fiction. She’s determined to bridge the gap in publishing that leaves out tweens, infusing her stories with the whimsy of old children’s fairytales and the darkness of books for “older kids.” When she isn’t writing and illustrating her findings on cats, she’s furthering her education in psychology, art, and theatre.

I received my copy about 2 days ago, while I havent finished the actual book yet. (I'm about half through) I do really just wanna praise the author and the way she not only packaged the book but also in the way she handled a less then ideal situation. Her packing is entirely made of recyclable material and all hand packaged together with multiple layers of cushion paper. Unfortunately my mail carriers are known to be rough with parcel's and when I received the item it was slightly bent at the very top. However I must emphasise that I after making a tiktok unboxing the book, the author herself attempted to fix the mistake of the carriers and offered to send me a new hard cover version. Which was so sweet! I was so floored by the kindness and told her that it really wasnt necessary as I had planned to buy another one anyway so I could annotate the original. I will write a full review once I finish the book but just know you will be supporting one of the sweetest people I know and her work is nothing to sneeze it (see what I did there? Youll get it once you read the book) wonderfully written with a witty dry sense of humor that forces you to crack a smile when youre attempting to remain cool and aloft on the bus.

Some Spoilers ahead!

Catterton gives all the Vibes!
Nostalgia for Childhood TV Shows even though it was just created, All kinds of Characters, Seamless Representation, Queerness, Insane Plot Twists!, Love, Loss, and Found Family

I LOVED reading this Book so much! Honestly trying to summarize it won’t do the whole Novel justice! Anyone interested should really read it to understand all the Nuances and situations as intended 🙌

Elsie is the Teen FMC who was adopted by a Clothier named Mr. Hawthorn. And the Lore for Elsie runs deep! She isn’t just any Cat, she is the long presumed Dead Cat Princess who was said to have been eaten by the Ratking! She was offered to him by her Biological Mother due to her being a Product of an Affair! Reading Elsie’s journey and seeing her go from a Shy Queer Teen to a Confident Queer Teen who isn’t afraid to speak her mind! She’s an adorable and funny Protagonist and I related to her a lot 🤭

Revon is the epitome of a True Gentleman, he’s kind, extremely caring and a Doctor! He’s also a Teen but was forced to grow up fast due to his Mother being taken away due to her mental illness and his father having left prior to his Mother’s forced departure. He now serves a Rat with a taste for Cats, specifically Elsie. Revon defies the Ratking be not giving her to him once he manages to catnap her and they soon become close friends and be develops feelings for her.

I love these 2 so much!

This Books has a lot going on! Political Intrigue, Queer Romance, Religion, Biological Family etc. I haven’t even scratched the surface of the huge main points in this Book!

I have read many Books growing up for Teens etc. And I can say with certainty that this has been the Most Unique Book in the Teen Genre I have ever read! I can honestly see Catterton as a TV Series like Red Wall, Lackadaisy, Gargoyles etc. It has many great lessons and representation to show the Younger Generation, and honestly everyone!

This Book is 10/10 for Me! 🐈 💝🐈‍⬛

Waiting in Anticipation for the Sequel Book Lost in Catterton! 🤩🙌
