As the leader of the Taylor Gang, Soul Taylor’s only concerns are his family, his money, and eliminating anyone who threatens his way of life. Love was never on the table for him, but life has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect them. A one-night stand with a beautiful “stranger” turns into a love story that he never saw coming. She shows how intoxicating love can be when you lay it all on the line and allow someone to know the real you. Everything seemed to be coming together for him, until the answers to a recent robbery led him to an unexpected place.

When Neeya Carter meets Soul Taylor, his love is everything she never thought was possible. Coming from a loveless family, Neeya finds it hard to trust that it’s safe to let her guard down, but the smooth-talking menace leaves her no choice. Neeya knows all too well how a dysfunctional family can be, but when her father makes a deadly gamble with the wrong people, she’s left scrambling to find a way to save the ones she loves. Desperate for money, she takes on an “easy lick” that proves to be far more dangerous than she ever imagined. Guilt and fear have her looking over her shoulders, but what she doesn’t realize is that the person she’s running from is right in front of her face.

Uncovered secrets threaten to crumble the very foundation Soul and Neeya have worked so hard to build, and when tragedy strikes, the two of them find themselves picking up the pieces of their broken hearts. When it comes to love, there are no rules and no blueprint. You may not always get it right the first time or even the second, but when it’s real, it’s powerful enough to rebuild in even the darkest of places. Will Soul and Neeya’s love be able to withstand the test of time, or will the damage from their past become too much to repair?

This was too good!! Soul was crazyyyy but I love him real bad!! This story was so well written & literally kept me on my toes from the very first chapter!! This book took me for a ride!! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen things took a turn & went in the complete opposite direction! There were some heavy topics like mental health & processing grief but it flowed into the storyline effortlessly! This was definitely my favorite book in the series!!

2.75/5 I’m going to hold your hand when I say this…no.

I really had to fight to get through this book. Normally I’m a fan of slow burns, but this one? This was a slow burn in the worst way. I love a slow burn when it’s done right—when the small details actually build the story. But this just felt dragged out. There were MULTIPLE times I thought about DNFing. And for it to be 600+ pages? Way too long for no real payoff.

There was so much going on that it felt like the author couldn’t keep up, and it led to loose ends and plot holes. Like when Soul stole Neeya’s car…what was the reason?? It felt like it was building to something, just for it to go nowhere. The car just magically pops back up later with zero explanation. Meanwhile, she had a whole breakdown over it. Make it make sense.

And Duke?? Don’t even get me started. His storyline was all over the place. How many kids does this 🥷have? Seems like he only claims RoRo who isn’t even his (or maybe she is).

The sibling storyline had potential and then just…fell flat. Neeya literally says she wants the kids to live with her, and then we go forever without really hearing about them again. And her brother? Basically nonexistent.

My biggest issue is the characters lost who they were. The core of what made them them just faded as the story went on, and that made it hard to stay connected.

If you’re going to write a 600+ page book, it needs to stay strong all the way through. This didn’t. The second half definitely carried, and I will say the bathroom scene with Soul was REALLY well written—that’s the energy I wanted from the beginning.

Also, Darion was easily my favorite. I’m always rooting for the underdog, even though they never catch a break.

Overall, this just wasn’t worth the time for me. I wanted to like it, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

wow 😮

I haven’t left a review in so long, but this 👏🏾 book 👏🏾 right 👏🏾 here 👏🏾😮‍💨. Neeya and Soul’s story had me crying real tears, I mean boo-hooing. It was an emotional roller coaster, but i didn’t want to get off. I couldn’t put it down. Kami is becoming a favorite. Let me go make sure I’ve read everything in her catalog. Is Duke and Patience’s story up next? Or Pure? Cuz I need him to get a HEA. I don’t even care who’s on deck next, I’ll be reading. This series is 🔥

Blown away…

Kami never disappoint but my God this book took me on a rollercoaster. I knew Soul’s story would be everything, yet, it was so much more!

Neeya (aka Juicy) has been doing it on her own for a minute. Her mother is a demon and her father enables the mother’s behavior. So, making money meant stripping until she could make her dreams come true.

Soul runs the Taylor Organization with his brother, Pure. He also owns his own mechanic shop, which is his passion project.

What they thought would be a one time encounter, quickly turns into more when they keep having these run ins.

While I laughed so much through this read, I also shed many tears. This story grabbed me by my hair and would not let me go.

Soul is complex with a great sense of humor. Juicy saw into him and knew his true self. He loved her unconditionally and was incredibly loud about it. He never played about her. However, life threw them so many curve balls, you’d think they would never recover. Kami, this story is so beautiful and raw. I just know Pure’s book will finish me in the worst way.

All the feels

Phew! The amount of tears I shed should be studied. This book was everything I needed and then some. Love isn’t always an easy road to travel but when you have real love and support from family and friends you can walk through hell and come back out! I’m so glad they made it through the chaos and got back to the love and peace. Well done Kami!

Alll Gas!

Listen I could tell you how much the book made me laugh, cry , curse, and almost hyperventilate , because put her whole soul into Soul’s book! This book snatches you up by your shirt and doesn’t let go!!! I have never wanted to see two people win more than I wanted Soul and Neeya to win. This is absolutely great storytelling

😭 An Emotional Rollercoaster for Real

5/5⭐️

This book had me in my feelings bad 😣. It was heavy, emotional, and tugged at my heartstrings the whole way through. I’m glad Soul and Juicy got their happy ending because they really earned it, and I’m hoping we get Pure’s story one day 🤞🏾📖

3.5⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked the story, and Soul and Neeya’s connection kept me invested, but I’m not even going to lie… it felt a little too long and drawn out at times. Every time I thought things were settling down, something else happened… and the unnecessary deaths of TWO people 😭 Yeah, Kami stressed me out with that one. Still emotional, messy, and full of drama, love, and secrets that kept me turning the pages.

Neeya baby you worked my nerves! You had several moments of discernment and you completely ignored them! Please learn to follow your intuition. You could’ve avoided some of this heartache that occurred. Your parents were awful! Like the dad didn’t know about the mama pimping you out but him continue to gamble and run up a tab and then look to you as the fixer makes him bad as well. But your mama- a jealous and bitter ho3! To pimp your daughter out, constantly berate her and then take credit for her raising her?? Juicy I’m surprised you let your sibling stay as long as you did but I understand you were still a kid!

I loved the way the family rallied around you!! They loved your purity and generosity! The way you cussed them out over Soul’s spiral showed you loved that man down! Pure took it all in stride. Even played into your attempted suicide attempt. Favorite quote; “will you die for me; “yes without a doubt” “well will you live for me?”

Soul- I loved and hated you throughout the book! You didn’t give Juicy a chance to explain. Like you were so hellbent on keeping the title of “Grim” that you contributed to some of the drama. You had many people around you that tried to drop jem’s and you continued to ignore them. And why did you bring Malay to Puma’s birthday party?? You tried to make Juicy jealous only for you became a trick during the twerk contest.

I do feel like we got a lot of fluff. Like when did Neeya quit dancing? When did she officially open the dance studio? When did she and Sou exchange her profits from the contest? When did Duke and Patience make it official? Is Patience pregnant?

Search My Soul is easily my favorite book in the series so far.

This story was so emotional and so raw. It explored topics I don’t usually come across, and it honestly caught me off guard in the best way. From mental health to addiction to complex family dynamics…there was a level of depth here that made this one stand out.

Soul’s journey really stood out to me, and I liked seeing Neeya’s nurturing side as she supported him through everything.

I do wish we got a little more when it came to Neeya’s family. After everything that was revealed about her upbringing, it felt like some of those heavier moments were glossed over. I found myself wanting more closure, especially when it came to her relationship with her parents. I understand that not every story gets a perfect resolution, but I did feel like Neeya needed that!

And at this point, I’m fully invested in this series. The Taylor siblings as a whole feel so layered, and I can already tell each of them has a story to tell. I’m really excited to see how everything unfolds.

Soul Taylor and Neeya Carter

Soul and Neeya took me through it, you hear me? That one-night stand had Soul searching for her like a man with a flashlight in broad daylight. Neeya was such a beautiful soul an amazing friend to Normandee and Puma and they loved her just as fiercely as she let them. She was bullheaded, independent, and too proud to ever feel like a burden. Her mama? She deserves a special place in hell for the pain she caused. Now Soul… whew. A man with a big heart, but even bigger demons. My heart broke for him feeling disconnected from his siblings and carrying loss after loss until he hit rock bottom. But through it all, they never gave up on each other. Love truly won in the end. I do wish we saw more of Puma’s gift, especially since she saw Soul’s downfall before it even happened. Still, the way Soul and Neeya fought hard and loved harder made that happily ever after hit even sweeter.

Soul Searching

Whew. Kami girl. You did it with this. Soul was such a layered character. I loved how you showed us all sides of him—the good, bad, ugly, and down right crazy. He was holding onto so much grief, uncertainty about his mental health, feeling forgotten about by family, and so much more. The man needed a love that could handle all that he was. Neeya was just the person for the job. She was accepting of everything that Soul was and that was really what he needed. Her parents were selfish and didn’t deserve to get off as easy as they did for all the pain they caused. However, I understand not diving more into that storyline—those folks were not gonna change. While these two took me through a range of emotions, I’m happy things played out the way they did. Also, the friends and family dynamics were out of this world.

Now on to other things. Pure clearly has some things to get off his chest, so when he’s ready to let me in I’ll be all ears.

Love, Survival, & Loyalty

Soul and Neeya aren’t just falling in love—they’re trying to survive their environments. Love isn’t soft here; it’s complicated and sometimes risky.

Neeya especially carries trauma from her past. The story shows how hard it is to accept love when you’ve never been protected properly.

The Taylor family moves as a unit. Loyalty is everything—but it can also trap you in situations you can’t easily walk away from.

Every decision—whether it’s about love, money, or family—has weight. This book really pushes the idea that you can’t outrun your choices.

Both main characters struggle with trust. It’s not just about “do I like you?”—it’s “can I let you see all of me without it costing me?”

My only issue with this book were the first half was drawn out and questions were left unanswered or not mentioned again when it can to Neeya’s parents and siblings.

Good Book

Search My Soul was good — I read it in one sitting. I almost DNF’d it twice, but I’m glad I pushed through because it really picked up around the 30% mark and stayed intense all the way to the end. Even with the sad, heavy moments, I loved how deeply emotional it got.

Some chapters did feel a little disjointed, almost contradicting things from earlier chapters as Soul and Neeya were coming together, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience too much.

I enjoyed seeing the darker side of Soul after everything he’d been through, and watching Neeya stand strong beside him — along with his family and friends — to pull him back from that darkness. It definitely brought me to tears.

I do wish we got an extended epilogue, but I was happy with the ending we did get.

Soul and Neeya

This one pulls at your heart strings and should be expected when the MMC's name is Soul.

Soul feels things on a deeper level, so he is greatly affected when he experiences the loss of a loved one. However, because of the life he lives, he believes expressing emotions makes him weak.

Neeya has dealt with a lot from her childhood, so she protects herself the best way she can.

They hook up, and it is agreed that it would be once. But, Soul wanted more. They tried their hands at a relationship, and things started to happen.

Neeya got involved in something that affected Soul, but she didn't know, and instead of coming clean, he finds out, and it it alters their path and plans.

Soul experiences more loss and he starts to spiral and seclude himself, and Neya has to decide if she wants to help.

This was a lot, very emotional!

Wow so much pain for Neeya and Soul! They endured more than most. Both had family betrayal, loss and heartbreak almost to the point they felt life wasn't worth it. Both tried to find solace in other people but in the end only together would it ever work. Losing Zion was so very sad, I felt for them both and the reason behind it was unnecessary and unwarranted. Remi and Emilio were slimy, dirty and vindictive. What happened with Pooh was almost unbearable! Jayla will always have a piece of his heart though. I loved this novel, read it in 3 days and really wasn't ready for it to end! Kami Holt, you did an outstanding job with this and you know Pure needs a book just as amazing, he needs someone to love him as hard if not harder than Juicy loved Soul! Thanks for this one frfr!!!

Whew, a powerful read!

Where do I start? First, as always Kami delivered a beautiful story and left me speechless. The characters, the plot everything was beyond amazing. I felt for both Neeya and Soul. He had his flaws but seeing him break down broke my heart. I'm glad his family and Neeya didn't give up on him. I hated Neeya's parents with a passion but it showed you can love someone and want them to love you back but they will also be selfish. I'm glad she found a family in the Taylors. No relationship is perfect but Soul and Neeya were the best example of "If you love something let it go and if it comes back it's meant to be." Thank you Kami for blessing us with another great story. You are beyond talented!

Search My Soul (Taylor Family Saga Book 3)

Soul is everything! Kami, Ms. Girl, you did your big one with this book. Soul, is by far, my favorite gangsta of all time.

He is intense, deadly, and definitely unhinged, but Soul has a heart of gold. It's family and those he loves over everything. He had some dark moments, and Then I didn't think he was going to make it. I also was afraid that he wouldn't get his happy ending, however Juicy nor his family was having that.

They made sure that Soul knew that he was loved and needed. Finally, he realized it also.

This was an amazing book. I enjoyed every minute and moment. I clutched my imaginary pearls, laughed, and cried. It was very well worth it!!!

A Beautiful Rollercoaster

This book had so many ups and downs that it literally keeps you gasping for theeeee whole 600 plus pages. Just when you think you’ve hit the climax you plummet down, just to come back up. I loved that Kami took her time with this and didn’t rush it. We got to see the main characters through different seasons which allowed for so much character development. It was nice to see Soul’s sisters step up for Neeya regardless of their relationship status, and see her get to have the family support that she never received from her family. The amount of betrayal on both sides was crazy and I’m glad they were ultimately able to find their way back to each other and get their HEA. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Taylor family.

614 Pages of Pure Substance (and Zero Fluff)!

Wow! Search My Soul truly lived up to its title. This book dives deep into the heaviest of emotional themes, such as grief, loss, sexual abuse, and mental health with incredible raw honesty. Despite the immense trauma Soul and Neeya endured, I loved that Kami chose to write their connection through a lens of genuine healing and love rather than a trauma bond. What began as intense lust evolved into a passionate love that neither felt worthy of, making their journey feel earned and deeply moving. Even at 614 pages, the plot is so well-constructed and full of twists that it never feels like "fluff." It is an engaging, meaningful read that is absolutely worth your time. Just know I stayed up the entire night to finish the book!

whew

I there’s something about a book. That can make you yell, scream, cry, cuss, laugh, fallout on the floor, and then ugly cry some more! And this was that kind of book! From the very beginning I knew this was going to be one for the books! That I was about to experience something raw and deep! And she didnt disappoint! She wrote a book full of dynamic complex characters! That pull you in and have you clutching your pearls and on the edge of your seat until the very end! She put her all in this one! She left no crumbs! Sensational definitely in my top for favorites this year!
