My misbehaving magic traps me in a spicy romance book with the grumpy dragon, and we have to act out the plot!
The growly dragon is stuck playing my lovestruck boyfriend until we finish the book and win its dance competition. And did I mention that it’s a spicy book? Hoo boy! I’ve gone from competent librarian to mistress of magical mayhem with my very first spell.
Luke keeps me in his castle, demanding I figure out how to break the spell using his magical library… with him hovering over me the entire time!
The fact that he’s so gorgeous makes it downright unbearable. Because every time the book’s plot takes over and Luke sweeps me into his strong arms for a dance, I crave the heat sizzling between us. Even worse? The romantic in me wants all his sweet words of love to be true, which has got to be my biggest mistake of all.
Dancing with the Dragon is a cozy spicy fantasy romance featuring a grumpy book-hoarding dragon, a sunshiny witch who’s a spicy romance fanatic, a sassy talking cat familiar, and a mutual obsession with books set in a massive magical library.
Welcome to Ferndale Falls, the magical small town full of mischievous imps and talking animal familiars, where heart-melting romance, toe-curling spice, humor, magic, and low-stakes adventure combine into stories you’ll devour.
Krista Luna writes spicy fantasy and paranormal romance featuring otherworldly men and the strong women they can’t live without. She loves combining sizzling romance with thrilling adventure, laugh-out-loud humor, and cozy found families full of best friends and talking animals.
When she’s not writing, you can find Krista reading or watching her latest fantasy or scifi favorite, all while eating chocolate. Because there’s always chocolate.
Luke and Skye were terrible communicators for different reasons. Luke was all grumpy and so obsessed with collecting data, along with being traumatized by being ostracized his whole life. Skye was a people pleaser to the max and wasn’t great at communicating why she was hurt by things Luke said or did. In all fairness, they didn’t let the miscommunications stand more than a day or so and had friends that were like “what are you doing”. It was a cute story with a lot of happy moments and them finding their worth as individuals and as romantic partners. All the cozy Valentine’s Day vibes.
Spice: 3/5
Triggers: borderline situational dubcon (they communicated that they wanted to be intimate before the situation arose specifically referring to the situation), body control by magic (brief moments, to act out romance book), past ostracizing by community, internalized fatphobia, mention of hunting for sustenance
**Thank you to the Author for the ARC; all opinions are my own.**

I love the Ferndale Falls series SO MUCH! I was so excited to finally get to Luke and Skye's story, and it did not disappoint 🤭
Luke is a dragon with a HUGE library, and Skye is the town librarian who is being forced to take a vacation. They've been dancing around each other for a while now, but magic starts to intervene for a little push. I loved the plot of having to act out a romance book, and Luke wanting to express his feelings to Skye but jot knowing how.
I am very much looking forward to the next one! Looking at you cat man 👀🐈⬛

Oh. My. Word. This book was the most delightful of delights! It was like a firm but squishy hug filled with comfort, joy & every good thing. It had me giggling, exclaiming, swooning, kicking my feet, fanning my face, blushing, & squealing. I cannot wait to reread it!
Skye is a librarian who recently found out she is a book witch.
Lukendevener is a dragon shifter with a gigantic library and incredible intelligence.
They live in the same town. Both have *noticed* the other but neither has done anything about it. Until he asks for her help with his library. She says yes because gorgeous library plus hot dragon equals best forced vacation ever. Then her magic makes itself known and reveals she is a book witch. By pulling them into her current romance read. And so begins their journey of magical discovery and spicy goodness.
I love Skye. She is so sweet and caring and she loves her community so much but isn't sure anyone will ever love her and all her curves & energy or want to keep her. She is so into her Luke but doesn't think someone like him could ever want her. Cue my tears. I loved watching her be strong in herself & get her happy.
Lukendevener has my heart. He is so confident and aware of himself & his strengths, which can be off-putting to people who don't bother to really hear him. But when you listen, you realize he is actually the sweetest, most caring male. He is so not good at the expressing himself and that really shows itself with Skye. He is super into her and does so much to show it but doesn't know to use his words. Thank goodness he can read & learns about grand gestures!
I adore these two. I loved their individual stories & growth and absolutely gobbled up their love story. And their chemistry is absolute fire. Like, keep your fans close and *things* charged.
I love Krista's writing. She creates worlds you want to experience & live in (where do I find a book witch??) and characters you love, adore & cheer for. My brain & heart both completely connect with the stories.
I received this as an ARC and am beyond grateful! This had zero impact on my review.
I wanted to love this book as much as the others but just couldn’t. I DESPISE the miscommunication trope and it lasts almost the whole book. Ugh.
Luke is the best and I was so excited for his book since we’ve known his character for a long time but his arc just fell a bit flat for me. He and Skye based all of their thoughts and interactions on just body language alone BUT THEY DON’T KNOW EACH OTHERS SPECIES! So obviously they’re both very wrong and bring in their own pasts and biases into it. But you’re telling me that a dragon that’s almost 400 years old who loves to learn and ask questions wouldn’t just talk to her?! Nah, not buying it. I also hated the ‘pretty baby girl’ nickname. - shivers- Just baby girl would have been fine and candy girl was good too or heck, even pretty girl but pretty baby girl just sounds wrong.
I did like Skye for the most part and we would definitely be friends based on her movie knowledge and book tastes. lol The only thing that got on my nerves (besides the miscommunication) was her version of swearing.
The REAL stars of this book are Princess Buttercup and Shadow. PB is exactly how I picture any cat to be and her protectiveness of Skye was so heartwarming. Shadow has always been the best and continues to be! He’s such a tease and so smug but usually rightfully so. The best part though is that he’s the first to offer help whenever he sees a need or when anyone asks. Love, love, love him and I’m so happy the next book is finally his! I have to know why Kayla is so salty towards him.
Oh! Also excited to have another dragon in the mix with Jace (can you call him that, Shadow? He didn’t answer. lol)
So again, liked it but didn’t love it this time. Hoping Krista knocks it out of the park with the next one.
This book was so cuuuuute! Very much Beauty and the Beast vibes, with the coolest bookish magic you’ll ever see. I think we would all love to have the power to enter books (as long as we can control it, that could be disastrous 😂). Plus, I would do anythingggg to have Luke’s magical library!
This story has a lot of fun romance/pop culture references in it. Dirty Dancing and The Princess Bride are both all time favorites of mine, so I especially loved those moments!
Luke is such a studious grump, but I have a soft spot for MMCs who are really just softies who don’t know how to show their vulnerable side. I loved that he grew in that area, but also helped Skye with her people pleasing tendencies. They balance each other out so well!
As always with this series, the familiars are the sweetest part. I love Skye’s cat, Princess Buttercup, and her chicken obsession so much!!
This is the perfect book if you’re looking for sweet, spicy, funny, cozy vibes!

Thank you so much to Krista Luna for sending me a copy for an honest review. 💖
Breaking my usual rule of not rating independently or self-published work lower than three stars on Goodreads because this book felt like a serious let down from an author I’ve really enjoyed in the past.
I think this series has finally cozied to close to the sun. This book fell totally flat on tension for me—I just couldn’t really get invested in two characters who had limited character growth and went through a whole lot of nothing in this novel. I like a low-stakes romance as much as the next escapist reader but this book felt less low-stakes and more no-stakes.
The characters also felt deeply boring and whiny, which was just icing on the sickly-sweet cake. If I wasn’t reading this on my phone there were half a dozen junctures at which I’d have thrown the book at a wall and shouted “get the hell over yourself” at both of the main characters.
Skye in particular felt beyond spineless: indecisive, incapable of asking for what she wanted, unwilling to stand up for herself, and self-sacrificing to a fault. What killed me is that the narrative conspired to guarantee that she never grew in any way on that front: Luke grand-gestured her in such a way that she never had to learn to communicate. Their miscommunication was only ever really resolved on his end. Add to that her “witch-bitch” book club friends constantly confronting her on her lack of communication—but never actually challenging her to speak up without being prompted to by an outside force—and Skye never saw even an ounce of character growth.
Skye didn’t learn to be more confident or to assert her own boundaries. Hell, she barely learned to wield her own magic—something that was allegedly a major plot thread in this book. All of her learning was off-page and mentioned only very briefly near the end of the novel. Holy telling and not showing Batman!
I want the three hours I spent on this book back.
Two stars because at least the intrigue about whoever is animating flowers, pumpkins, and paper hearts in the town held my attention. But honestly I think the whole bit where the most compelling part of this book for me was the setup for a future book in the series says all I need to say.
Also two stars (not just one) because at the very least this felt well edited with decently formed prose and semi-believable dialogue (that is, if you exclude the book within a book scenes! Honestly I think if the book-within-book had felt, uh, believable then this would have been a much better read. I hope to god no one is actually publishing and selling romances as horrifically corny and shallow as the book Luke and Skye get transported into. What the hell was that, even?)
Please see this is an ARC review and I was so kindly given this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
Once again we have been blessed with an amazing addition to the universe of Ferndale Falls Forever. This time around we have a sunshine and cinnamon candy librarian and a grumpy as hell dragon who hoards books. I personally love the grumpy x sunshine trope and these 2 really do embody it. From their silly banter to their small miscommunications they were a joy to read. We also get a hilarious cat familiar in Princess Buttercup and the amount of times she made me laugh and look at my own cat and ask him if he's as obsessed with chicken as she is? Too many 🤣
The thing I appreciated the most aside from the silly banter between Skye and Luke was honestly Luke himself. In so many books with 'Grumpy' characters we get a little bit of grumpy but then when the characters get together a lot of times they kinda just morph into a kinda sorta moody prince charming instead, but Luke wasn't that at all. Luke was a smug grumpy dragon the entire way through the book. His 'levels' of grumpy (as Skye would put it) just really solidified the type of guy he was. Although he does soften JUST a tad towards the end, mostly he's still just....Luke. And he paired perfectly with the bubbly and sweet woman that is Skye. All cinnamon candies and squishy hearts. She really was so cute and lovable from a readers perspective.
I could go on forever about how much I loved this book. Technically you COULD read it as a stand alone but the base of the plot won't really make sense if you don't read the other books first, soooo go pick up all 3 of the books in this series if you're looking for lovable characters and a good laugh.
“I will never let up. She will be ruined for any other. She will be mine.”
Ahhh! I am falling more and more in love with Ferndale Falls! This series is the epitome of cozy magical small town with the perfect variety of all your favorite magical beings! Dancing with the Dragon is a wonderful mix of cozy, delicious romance, and longing! I love how deeply Skye and Luke fall for each other SO MUCH! The yearning and desire is so delicious!
Sweet sweet Skye and her squishy jelly heart is just so heart-breakingly sweet and deserves all the world! I love reading curvy leading ladies and definitely identify with the insecurities she has with her self-image.

I adore Ferndale Falls for the large dose of cozy magic! This is a warm hug with a grumpy dragon. I loved it!
Overall 4.5/5 stars ⭐️
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you!
I have been so excited for this one, and it absolutely delivered. Skye is incredibly relatable, especially for plus-size book lovers, with her kind heart and self-doubt, while Luke’s grumpy, broody arrogance slowly melting into total devotion for her was everything I wanted.
The premise alone had me hooked. Being pulled into a spicy romance book and having to act out scenes to find their way back was such a fun, swoony setup. Watching Skye and Luke work through their insecurities while being drawn closer together made every moment feel both sweet and satisfying. The emotional pull paired with the heat made this such a delightful read from start to finish.
A truly sweet and spicy romance that left me smiling long after I finished.
Krista she truly did it again. We return to Ferndale Falls finally getting to read about Skye and Luke's story. The story is soooooo feel good. Following the mishaps of being sucked into a romance book with Luke after her witchy powers decide to finally show up and join the program. Was so fun to read and found myself laughing so hard at different parts. I love Luke's almost innocence and confusion of the world while having so much knowledge of other. The spice as always was great a solid 2.
💖 “I’d dance in front of millions to make you happy. You’re all that matters.” ~~~ Skye is the head librarian in Ferndale Falls and one incredible human being. She’s so sweet, nice, and caring. Even more, she has the softest and kindest heart. And her love for books and willingness to help others made me love her even more. Skye is lovely inside and out and I loved her so, so much!
And then, there’s Lukendevener! The weredragon might appear arrogant, bossy and scowly at first sight, but there’s much more to him than meets the eye. Because underneath his resting grumpy face is a male with a big heart - kind, generous, thoughtful and caring. Even more, I loved his brilliant mind and his thirst for knowledge. He comes with a castle and a huge magical library, too! And since dragons are superior, Luke, of course, is not only utterly gorgeous but is also equipped with two big… Anyway… Lukendevener is a phenomenal male and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Skye and Luke! Skye’s been crushing on Luke for a while, so when he asks her to help organize his library, she accepts without hesitation. But when her magic accidentally throws them in a spicy romance book, things get very, very interesting. I absolutely adored Luke and Skye together! Their chemistry was off-the-charts from the start, even though both were hesitant to act upon their feelings. But I loved their banters and every single moment they spent together. Even more, I adored everything Luke did for Skye. That grumpy dragon not only does he renovate his whole castle so that she can feel comfortable, but also gives her very thoughtful gifts and really puts an effort to understand romance so that he could get to understand Skye better. Luke’s such a romantic, even though I’m pretty sure he’d never admit it. Even more, the closer Luke and Skye got, the more she saw the incredible male this weredragon truly is. I also really loved the surprise she worked so hard to prepare for him. And when they finally gave into the undeniable attraction, the passionate moments they shared were scorching hot and I couldn’t get enough. Skye and Luke were absolutely perfect for each other and absolutely deserved to find happiness and love together!
In addition, I loved so much more about the story! I loved Severin, Rune and Shadow being such good friends to Luke, even when they were relentlessly teasing him. And Skye’s aunts are two wonderful humans. Even more, the witches from the Witch B!tch Book Club were absolutely amazing once again. And last, but not least, I must also mention Her Glorious Majesty - Princess Buttercup - she’s the best, chicken obsessed and sassiest familiar ever!
Overall, Dancing with the Dragon is another fun, adventurous, deliciously naughty and truly spectacular addition to the series!
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it!
This was absolutely the Beauty & the Beast we deserved — one with the “monster” still being his grumpy, monster self when the spell was finished and they’d fallen in love, horns, tail, wings, and all! I admittedly don’t usually like when a book promises to be a retelling of another story because it usually sets expectations that aren’t met. Trust Krista to be one of the exceptions! Her storytelling is so enjoyable and I loved the way she made small nods to B&B without it feeling like a rewritten story just in a different font. The story was still wholly and uniquely hers, with all the things that make her stories so great — relatable FMCs, incredibly romantic MMCs, delicious spice, supportive friends/family, adorable animal companions, and a well-balanced plot that has internal and external conflicts that mean there are no lulls or sections that drag. I’m always fully invested in Krista’s stories and Luke & Skye’s story had me glued to my kindle every moment I could steal.
DwtD is THICK, but despite it’s hefty page count, it felt like it whirled by so quickly; it was so easy to get swept up into the magic! I still think wish granting magic is my favorite thus far but Skye’s magic is a very close second — what book lover wouldn’t love the ability to jump in and out of a story to experience things you otherwise wouldn’t be able to experience! I also really liked the glimpses we got of Luke’s magic, and the magic of dragons in general, since they’ve popped up in this world a few times now but Luke is unique in his human form. I do wish we got a little more information on why his magic is broken, back story or something a little more because it was kind of just explained “hey he’s defective all the other dragons were mean to him” and while that’s sufficient to move the story along, I felt like it was skimmed over too much for such an important part of why he is the way he is.
Otherwise though, Luke was a total dreamboat. Intelligent, attentive (when his focus isn’t split on his research), willing to put the work in, a little cocky/prideful because he’s a dragon but still willing to be humble or to let someone else lead when he’s not the expert… oh, and the enormous library he comes with doesn’t hurt! His soft, squishy jelly heart was a big plus too — I loved that phrase when it came to both Skye and then later on him too. Its such a good way to put it. Skye was the perfect sunshine to his grumpy; I loved her character, everything from the fun way she dresses to the mask she’s donned to make others comfortable/happy. And I would be remiss to not mention Princess Buttercup, as she was feline perfection!
As with everything Krista writes, I am looking forward to the next in the series based on the hints we were dropped about who’s next and how that’s going to go! This whole series is so cozy and lovely, and the perfect escape from a very tumultuous world.
Thank you, Krista, for the ARC! Always a pleasure reading on your team 💙
I'd fallen in love with the world of Ferndale Falls and its eclectic mix of magical beings after having read the first two books in the series. Needless to say, I was excited to visit this world again with Dancing with the Dragon and witnessing the love unfold between main characters Skye and Lukendevener. And, as expected, what a fun and stimulating read this turned out to be!
I've seen glimpses of Skye and Luke in the previous books, so I was eager to discover how these two seemingly opposite personalities would come together to spark their connection. It was thus through their blossoming relationship that we witness the artful character development of Skye and Luke. As they both searched for solutions to undo the accidental spell conjured by Skye, we slowly see both characters behind the facades they try to hold up to protect themselves. This is especially true for Luke who is burdened by fears borne of his past experiences. I enjoyed those parts of the story that showed his generous heart, one that hid behind his gruff and introvert nature. It was captivating to see how Skye slowly peeled off those layers concealing the real Luke, and how liberating it became for him to finally be truly seen for what he was - flawed yet still magnificent in all the ways that matter.
Skye, on the other hand, was such a fun character to follow. She had an endearing sense of wit and humor that I found myself laughing several times at her antics. Her fascination, especially, with Luke's unique "endowment" was quite relatable! More than that, I loved how she didn't shy away from her infatuation with Luke, and how she seized the opportunity to enjoy every minute she could have with him for however long their interactions would last.
Overall, I enjoyed this book for its perfect blend of romance, humor, and spice mixed masterfully together in a story that has you hooked from start to finish. With the last few chapters of the book hinting to us the couple that would be the focus of the next book, I know I already can't wait to come back to Ferndale Falls to see how their story unfolds.
I am a grateful recipient of a free review copy of this book. This review is offered voluntarily.
Magic, misunderstandings, and one very grumpy dragon, this one had me hooked from the start. The Valentine’s theme was definitely turned all the way up, maybe enough to make you want to hand out heart-shaped cinnamon candies (wink wink). I love cinnamon candy and really enjoyed this little addition to the story, but without spoiling it, I guess you’ll have to read the book to know what I’m talking about.
Skye’s witch magic was fun and had me wishing I had that power too! But I have to admit, she wasn’t my favorite FMC in the series, maybe a little too sweet. I found myself relating to her a bit too much, which can sometimes pull me out of the story since I read to escape. I also wish we got a bit more of her magic alongside the romance. The misunderstandings and assumptions between the MMCs were so front and center that it felt like the fun part of Skye figuring out her magic got a little left behind. But I will say, that the magical library would be a dream to explore!
Luke is a wonderfully grumpy weredragon with an oblivious streak that made his romantic moments even sweeter. Watching him navigate big feelings, and that one big grand gesture at the end, was a huge part of the charm and really made this story. Our cinnamon roll Luke certainly doesn’t do anything halfway, not in action or in body parts, if you catch my drift, which made for a very DOUBLY fun reading experience!
And once again, the familiar absolutely stole the show. The sass and attitude were a perfect portrayal of exactly what a sassy cat should be, especially when they get to speak to their human and have them understand. Princess Buttercup had me laughing out loud more often than not. I also loved how this series continues to keep up with all the characters in Ferndale Falls. I adore them all.
Thank you so much to Krista Luna for the ARC. Still an instant-read author for me, and I can’t wait to see what happens next in Ferndale Falls (over here hoping it is Shadow and Kayla's story).
Thank you Krista Luna for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was so dang good!
It was so cozy and very candy sweet. I enjoyed the grumpy/sunshine vibe, and I kept yelling at my kindle for them to just freaking talk to each other already! I love it when you have two very intelligent people, but emotionally they can be dumb as rocks at times. It causes all sorts of chaos and miscommunication, especially when they both have low self esteem issues too.
Luke and Sky are so perfect for each other in every way, and I really loved watching them dance around each other's feelings (and physically as well). The big castle and huge library has the most amazing cozy vibes. I wish I could live there myself, especially with the "special" book section. The cat beds scattered everywhere in the library made my heart happy to know Princess Buttercup is so cherished. I adore sassy Princess Buttercup. She had me cracking up nonstop with her glorious snark and love for all things chicken.
The book magic was a really cool idea, and I think it was done in an interesting way. There were a few bits where non-spicy consent was a bit iffy, because of how the magic forced them to do certain things, or say specific lines. All the spicy scenes were fully consensual. I'm glad it worked out good in the end, and she gets more control over it.
I also love Shadow with all of my soul, and I'm so happy he is getting the next book. His sarcasm is top notch! I also loved the new dragons we got to meet, and I'm hoping we see a lot more of them in the future, especially the little ones. So cute, and I am dying to see if they pizza.
Overall this was a sugary sweet, cozy read that will warm your soul.
Dancing with the Dragon by Krista Luna is the third book in the Ferndale Falls Forever series, and it was such a fun return to fantasy romance.
Skye is the town librarian and has long harbored a crush on Luke. When he asks her to help organize his private library, she accepts without hesitation. Luke is equally drawn to Skye but struggles to express his feelings. While working together, Skye accidentally discovers her magic when a spell traps them inside a spicy romance book. This unexpected twist brings them closer, allowing them to explore not only their undeniable attraction but also their personal insecurities and emotional wounds.
As Skye learns how to break the spell, Luke is faced with a choice: finally take a chance on love or risk losing her forever.
It had been a while since I’d read a fantasy romance, and this book was the perfect reminder of why I love the genre. This spicy romantic comedy is a delightful Beauty and the Beast retelling featuring a dragon and a witch. With tropes like grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, age gap, and found family, the story is both heartwarming and addictive.
Skye and Luke are wonderfully matched. Their shared love of books, struggles with acceptance, and deep care for children make their bond feel genuine and meaningful. Their chemistry is intense, their spicy moments are scorching, and the familiar was an absolute standout, truly a princess in her own right.
If you enjoy spicy fantasy romance with humor, heart, and magical charm, this is one you won’t want to miss.
Skye is the Ferndale Falls librarian, a newly discovered witch, a devoted book lover, and an absolute romantic. Luke is one of the newest fae residents—an academic dragon shifter with a castle and a library that would make any bookworm swoon. When Luke asks Skye for help organizing his massive collection, she immediately agrees. Who could resist a magical library and its grumpy dragon keeper? But when Skye’s magic accidentally sucks them into a dance-themed romance novel, things heat up fast. Can they both grow past their insecurities and dance their way into true love? I never get tired of returning to Ferndale Falls. These stories are the perfect cozy bites of comfort. I adore the supportive community of witches Skye is part of, along with the charming, magical small-town vibes of the setting. Luke is delightfully grumpy and the perfect example of an incredibly intelligent person who is completely clueless about romance. Skye is our lovely plus-sized dreamer with a squishy heart that’s so relatable, and she’s the perfect counterbalance to Luke’s uncertainty. Watching their rom-com escapades as they navigate Skye’s new magic and their growing feelings for each other was adorable and so much fun. And of course, I’m always here for a sassy cat bestie/familiar as supporting cast. As a fellow squishy-hearted person, stories about tender souls receiving the overwhelming love and respect they deserve are deeply satisfying. I loved this latest installment in the series and can’t wait for more!
Grumpy, grumpy Luke. *sigh* well, his grumpiness IS kinda sexy. I mean, he is smart, and after those lessons and all that practice, a good dancer, and, golly, when you get to see his two beautiful co- …er… EYES whats not to love about that gorgeous dragon?!
Dancing w/the Dragon is different than any other Krista Luna book I’ve ever picked up. It still has all the Luna-signature fun, lots of energy, delicious spice, ride-or-die-friends, and adorable familiars full of self-grandiosity. This go ‘round, Luke and Skye really misunderstand each other’s body language—as far as clarifying verbally, well, their mouths did them absolutely zero favors. Good thing they both have people ready to lay truth-tracks for them. My heart dropped a few times watching Luke’s evolution before it was able to sing. The way their story was told was absolutely perfect—it just couldn’t have happened any other way.

This book is everything I need right now! It’s hilarious, spicy and so cozy I want to move to Ferndale Falls and never return! My top read of the year and it doesn’t matter that it’s January because it’s going to take a miracle for any other book to top this one!
Skye is a sweet bookish monsterfudger who loves spicy romance. She also loves Dirty Dancing. Those things combine when she sends her and Luke into a spicy romance book with dancing! The dance lessons are so hot! So much yearning!
And Luke! This grumpy dragon has lived for centuries as an outcast hiding a heart of gold. To watch him come alive when he’s with Skye is beautiful! He buys all the romance books and starts reading them to understand her better! This is ultimate book boyfriend energy! The grand gesture he makes for her at the end of the book made me cry so many happy tears!
The spice was spicing! Luke’s got two peens and a tail and uses all three on Skye constantly because he’s a pleasure Dom determined to give her multiple climaxes! That flying scene lives rent free in my head (IYKYK)
Luke also has the largest library in faerie and earth and it’s got a magic portal that will take you to the perfect book to fit your mood! The witchy besties are as supportive as ever and the guys have their own friendships. And Princess Buttercup is hilarious as the sassy cat familiar willing to pee on any guy who upsets Skye.
I think this just might be my favorite Ferndale Falls book yet! It's got delicious Beauty and the Beast vibes, with a grumpy dragon shifter, a sunshiney librarian witch and a gigantic magical library.
Luke is a dragon shifter who, due to the event that cut off Faery from the other realms for eons, cannot shift to his 3rd form. This has made him feel like an outcast for a long time. So he's grumpy and standoffish, afraid to let anyone close.
But when he hires Skye to help him organize his library, she begins breaking down all his walls, one cinnamon candy at a time. Both Luke and Skye are a bit obtuse when it comes to each other. Everyone around them can tell they're utterly smitten with each other, but it takes them both a while to realize it on their own.
One of my favorite parts is when Skye realizes her cat is her witch familiar. Princess Buttercup is a delight. And in typical cat fashion proclaims that SHE picked Skye, not vice versa.
Dancing with the Dragon can be read as a standalone (though there are minor spoilers to previous book pairings) and is perfect for fans of: - Beauty and the Beast (and liked the beast better than the prince) - monster romance - 🪢-ing and 🍆🍆 - grumpy/sunshine - magical libraries - sassy talking animals
Thank you Krista Luna for the opportunity to advance read!
Tropes: dragon x witch • grumpy/sunshine • age gap • fated mates • lots of dancing
Such a great read, relaxing, while having you shouting at the characters to get it together - great combo. Also, the dance from Dirty Dancingwith the lake scene!
I usually don't go for a plot where 50% of the characters’ problems could have been solved if they just opened their effing mouths and communicated, but the story gives the characters great depth and backstory - which in itself is a feat in a cosy read, as the characters are often quite shallow and one-note. It explains why the characters simply cannot just communicate or even accept the fact that they are into each other, just as they are.
And Luke ❤️. Luke will forever have a very special place in my heart. This broken and extremely literal dragon is a great “other side of the medallion” to those of you who read about the dragons in the Brides of the Moon Blade Clan series.
Lots of eyelash flutters for - and in - this book. I loved it.
"I bat my eyes at him so quickly you'd think I'm trying to fan his face."
This book is for you if you want a cosy read where even the angst is sweet and kept between the characters.
Dancing with the Dragon is a such a sweet, cozy, and fun read, made even better by taking place during Valentine’s Day season. You know I love a seasonal book!
Skye and Luke completely stole my heart. Watching them work through their insecurities and slowly work towards realizing they're in love was very relatable. The whole concept of getting sucked into a spicy romance novel was pure fun. And Luke having two… appendages adds a playful, spicy twist without overshadowing the romance.
That big scene at the end had me sobbing. Luke stepping so far outside his comfort zone to prove his love for Skye was incredibly touching.
We love an animal companion and, Princess Buttercup, Skye’s cat familiar, was so adorable and sassy.
Cozy, spicy, magical, and heartfelt, this story is a perfect Valentine’s season read. If you love grumpy dragons, sunshine witches, bookish chaos, and romances that hit you right in the feelings, Ferndale Falls delivers yet again.
I’ve had the privilege of ARC reading every book in the Ferndale Falls Forever series, and at this point it’s no secret that Krista Luna has become one of my favorite authors. I already can't wait for the next book!
Continuing with fated mates in Ferndale Falls, we have Skye and the dragon Luke in a semi-beauty and the beast retelling. Like the others in the series, the book is a cozy-spicy romantasy. While it delivered in that regard, I don't think this was the book for me.
One of my main issues was with Skye and how she was forever characterized as being "sweet." She doesn't swear and it's just a bit odd to me that she's forever saying 'snickerdoodles' or 'fudging fudgesicles,' even when getting it on with Luke. It just seemed discordant with various spicy scenes. And it didn't help that she likes being called 'baby girl' which gives me the ick.
Additionally, our views on romance are very different, with her loving everything romance-related, grand gestures, dancing, candy, sweets, and ostentatious, whereas I prefer a quieter type of love. Like a public grand gesture is my literal nightmare made real.
To be clear, it wasn't a bad book, but this one was just a miss for me in terms of the romance and FMC. From her increased page time, I feel like I'm more in sync with Kayla, so I have hope for her book!
Lukendevener, the grumpiest dragon in Faerie, finally meets his match - a 50s pin-up witchy librarian! Skye is a sweet, people-pleasing, baking, romance-reading, cat-loving, dancing dream Luke didn’t know he needed. These two are a perfect balance of in and out of synch communication. I loved watching all of their missteps as they worked their way to a rhythm. They had to become vulnerable, and work through their insecurities first. I just wanted to reach into the pages and give them both hugs. Princess Buttercup, Skye’s calico familiar, is perfection! She tells the hard truths, and isn’t above weaponizing her pee if she isn’t happy! Hilarious! She pulled the classic “get both mom and dad to feed me” routine everyone with pets will recognize. (My chihuahua could have given her lessons!) All my favorite characters make an appearance, and there is foreshadowing for the next book and other future relationships. Of all the characters and stories in this series, Luke and his amazing library really struck a jealous chord with me! What romance reader wouldn’t want to live there, and get the “double” bonus, too? IYKYK!!
Ferndale Falls Forever!!!! I've really enjoyed very entry in this series and book 3 was no exception.
I'm a sucker for Beauty and the Beast and for a dragon-shifter romance, so I had high hopes for this book and it really delivered!
Skye and Luke's romance is like the epitome of grumpy/sunshine, with Luke's grumpy exterior hiding a true sweetheart. And Skye was sweet from the start - a super kind, newly made witch who is always trying to help people out. Like all of the series, the characters are well written and their banter is so fun! Instead of two characters who kind of seem like they fall together just because they're the main characters of a romance book, their relationship actually seems realistic and well developed.
And as part of their well developed relationship, the spicy scenes were excellent. A+ for the fun extras as part of the dragon shifter /anatomy/. Gotta love a bonus appendage.
My only complaint is Skye's goody-two-shoes language. Totally realistic for her character, it just kind of took me out of the book occasionally when I cringed at it. Especially during the spicy scenes. But that's down to personal preference more than anything.
loved it !! love this series !! love , love, love Princess Buttercup !!!! love Skye and Luke as well !!! this is their love story.. a fun fast paced full of misunderstandings rom/com drama... Skye is the town's librarian and is forced to take a vacation for two weeks... she's never even taken a day off ever !!! she loves her job !! Luke needs help with his overflowing library... and he asks Skye to help... she says yes before hearing any of the jobs description... she's crushed on him forever... and Princess Buttercup is her cat and familiar or is it she's the cat's witch... that must be it !!! and her first instance of magic...well, she traps them in the book she is currently reading.. a dance romance.. but, they only do certain scenes... it's so funny !!! and Luke is resting grumpy face !!! she can't control her magic.. they must now do research to break the spell.... even funnier !!! remember that Luke is over three hundred years old and has been alone for most of that time.. ! he grunts alot !!! and Skye is cinnamon eating sunshine... just loved it !!! she's his candy girl !!! received this on an ARC, my honest reveiw !!!

Whenever I’m in the mood for a cozy, funny read that’s guaranteed to make me giggle and swoon, Krista Luna is an automatic yes - and 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧 delivers in all the best ways. The grumpy Luke paired with Skye’s irresistible sunshine is pure magic, especially when her magic throws a little delightful chaos into their orbit and forces them to truly come together. I adored Skye from the start, and the more layers Luke revealed, the more tender my heart felt for him. The lengths these two go to for one another are genuinely heart-melting, and the chemistry between them absolutely blazes. Skye’s familiar, Princess Buttercup, is adorably sassy, and the Witch Bitches are hands-down the BEST. With just a touch of angst and an abundance of warmth and happiness, this book is a guaranteed feel-good read. ✨🐉💖
Special thanks to the author for the gifted copy 💕
I love that we get a soft, gentle, heart-on-her-sleeve and her counterpoint is this arrogant, Mr-I-need-to-learn-everything-but-hide-my-inner-marshmallow dragon.
In a sort of Groundhog Day way, Skye and Luke are forced into the book she had been reading, and can’t leave the scene until they get it correct. If they mess up…they get Bill Murray’d back to the beginning. Can you imagine how frustrating that must be for an academic perfectionist like Luke? I wish I could have been a fly on the wall.
There absolutely is some miscommunication and misunderstandings here, but it works for me. I feel like both Skye and Luke needed this in order to force them to face their own feelings and stop hiding away.
Just like the rest of the series, Dancing with the Dragon has the right amount of spice, found family, emotional vulnerability, and humor. Princess Buttercup might be my favorite character of all time? She is exactly how I imagine my cat would act if she spoke English.
I’m so excited for Shadow’s book, he’s so sassy, I can’t wait to see him knocked down a peg.
This book was everything it needed to be and Krista delivered another fantastically enchanting story and smashed every expectation, wish and bar with this installment while keeping it fun, light hearted and funny as well as giving the characters and plots every progression and explanation it needed.
Every character was wonderful, intriguing and a little bit of mysterious added in while having their problems and insecurities written in a way that allows its readers to connect with. Add in the wonky magic, clever library, a sassy cat, and the grumpy dragon who yearns after the bright bubbly sunshine witch and the story comes alive.
The fact that we get to see beloved side characters and new characters at the same time makes it so that every time Krista comes out with the next installment of these books, I pre-order it when I first see it and usually read these books in one or two sittings. Thats how much I love her stories, characters and animal friends.
This book was excellent and makes me excited for more. highly recommend.
