"Sometimes the fiercest storms bring you back to where you belong."

Five years ago she was mine. Mine to take care of. Mine to love. But rather than watch her fall for someone else, I walked away.

Left her without a backwards glance.

And now I’m home.

When history repeats itself, the urge to repeat history is strong. But I know how this story ends.

I can change it. I’ll be the one whose arms she runs to. I’ll be her safe place.

But can I change her fate or am I only waiting for another broken heart?

ARC review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thunder Snow is one of those achingly tender second-chance romances that hits you right in the chest and refuses to let go. It’s quiet, stormy, nostalgic, and full of that what if we’d done it differently energy that makes your heart twist in the best way.

The premise alone is emotional devastation in the prettiest packaging: he walked away to protect them both, and now he’s back older, wiser, and determined not to make the same mistake twice. That push-and-pull between regret and hope is beautifully done. You can feel how deeply he loved her, how deeply he still does, and how terrified he is of hurting her again.

What really shines is the emotional atmosphere. The “storm” metaphor isn’t just poetic, it mirrors the characters perfectly. Love that never really faded, timing that was cruel, and the fragile hope that maybe this time, they can get it right. His desire to be her safe place is soft and swoony, but there’s also that lingering dread that fate might still have other plans.

If you love hometown returns, pining heroes, and that delicious tension where the past and present collide, this book will absolutely wreck you in the best, cozy, emotional, curl-up-with-a-blanket kind of way. A heartfelt, angsty, and beautiful reminder that sometimes love really does circle back home. 🌨️💙

This isn’t just a romance.
It’s a story about reclaiming control after someone tried to break you.
Corinne is leaving an abusive relationship — and not quietly. She leaves with the help of her parents, which I actually loved. So many dark romances isolate the FMC completely, but here? She has support. She has people who believe her.
And yet even after she leaves, the fear lingers.
The first time she sees Sam is at her parents’ house — and before that moment can even settle, a brick is thrown through the window.
Wrapped around it? A scarf.
The same kind of scarf she was wearing the first time her ex hit her.
That detail gave me chills.
It wasn’t just a threat. It was psychological warfare. A reminder that abuse doesn’t end the moment you walk away.
Sam
Sam moves back home after being away for years, carrying his own tragedy. He’s quiet. Watchful. Steady.
When Corinne’s ex starts escalating, Sam and his mom offer their home as a safe place. Since the ex doesn’t know them, it makes sense. And she agrees.
What I loved about this dynamic is that Sam isn’t written as a loud alpha who bulldozes her healing.
He’s patient.
He doesn’t rush her.
He doesn’t demand.
He doesn’t take.
He listens.
The BDSM Element
Corinne joining a BDSM website was such an interesting choice — but it made sense for her character.
After being in a relationship where her pleasure never mattered, where control was stolen from her, she actively seeks a space where consent and control are structured and intentional.
She wants to choose.
She wants to dictate terms.
She wants to understand her body without fear attached to it.
And finding out the person she’s been messaging and meeting up with… is Sam?
That reveal was actually cute in the best way.
Not in a cheesy way — but in a “this is someone who already cares about her safety” way.
What made their dynamic work for me was how slow it is.
They talk through everything.
He checks in constantly.
He helps her learn to speak up.
He teaches her that wanting something doesn’t make her weak.
The scenes aren’t about shock value — they’re about rebuilding trust. About her realizing she can have control and still feel safe.
And honestly? The communication was hot.
There’s something deeply attractive about a man who prioritizes comfort and consent.
The Tension
Her ex doesn’t disappear.
He threatens her.
He manipulates from the shadows.
He somehow knows what she and Sam have been doing.
That paranoia keeps the story tight. Even during the softer moments, there’s this undercurrent of danger.
It’s not just about falling in love — it’s about surviving long enough to feel safe doing it.

Thank you to Nikki Grant and Naughty Nook PR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

Am I surprised that I really enjoyed this book? Not at all. At this point, I have discovered that if Nikki writes it, I am going to enjoy it. I love a spin-off series, and having been along for the entire Makeup and Mochas ride made me enjoy this book that much more. Do you HAVE TO read the Makeup and Mochas series to enjoy this one? No, but it will help tremendously. Things will make way more sense, and they really are binge-worthy.

I read this book on a plane. Half on my trip down, half on my trip back two days later. Don't ask me anything that happened or that was said on that plane because I was immersed in the mystery and suspense of this romance novel. Romantic suspense is my happy place, and I REALLY enjoyed it when Nikki wrote Ashley's story as a romantic suspense, so I knew this was going to scratch that same itch.

If you've ever been the victim of domestic violence, even if it never progressed to the physical, you are going to relate to Corinne so well. It is so heartbreaking to think that women actually experience what Corinne goes through, so check your trigger warnings because, although it isn't for me, I can definitely see how this could be upsetting for others. The same can be said if you've ever had a stalker. I will say, Nikki's plot really had me guessing all the way up to the reveal on this one, as I really couldn't pinpoint where this was going and who "He" was. I have to speak about Sam, as he was the perfect MMC, but honestly, Nikki writes all of her MMCs perfectly for their stories, and I am 1000% here for it. Please never stop, lol.

Much like her other books, there is some spice in this book, but it is nowhere near overdone, and I thought the amount was just right for the tone of the book. Nikki always does her spicy scenes well, and this book was no different. I really can't wait to jump into the next installment in this series!

Let me start by saying: I went into this completely blind. I hadn’t read any of the previous books, including A Man for You, and while this was marketed as a standalone… it absolutely did not feel like one considering it’s a start to a new series.

It’s mentioned that reading A Man for You isn’t required, but honestly? It feels like it is. A huge portion of Sam’s backstory and trauma constantly references events from that book. Yes, you can piece things together, but to truly understand Sam—his emotional depth, his reactions, his struggles—it feels like you’re missing critical context if you haven’t read the previous story. When a character’s core development hinges so heavily on past material, it’s hard to call this a true standalone.

As for the story itself, it fell a bit flat for me.

I was really hoping Corinne would have a stronger arc—especially with her journey toward rediscovering herself. The themes surrounding abuse and survivor mentality are important, and I understand what the author was trying to portray. But the execution didn’t feel authentic. The emotional and mental shifts didn’t quite land in a believable way, especially from a survivor standpoint. It felt rushed where it needed depth.

And Sam… I’m torn. He was soft. And sometimes that softness is necessary and refreshing in a male lead—but here, it felt excessive. I kept waiting for more depth, more emotional complexity, more substance to anchor the plot. Instead, he felt almost one-note. I didn’t feel the weight of his trauma the way I think I was supposed to.

Overall, I didn’t feel enough emotional depth or plot movement to stay fully invested. It had potential, especially with the themes it tackled, but for me, it just didn’t hit as hard as it could have.

Would I recommend it as a standalone? Honestly, no. Read A Man for You first—or you may feel like you’re missing half the story.

Wow. Thunder Snow is such a heartbreaking, beautifully layered dark romantic suspense. As someone who’s been in a not so great relationship before, I really connected to Corinne’s journey. The flashbacks were powerful and emotional, adding so much more to everything she’s fighting to overcome.

Sam is just every single thing Corinne attentive, patient, protective… and yes, especially in the bedroom. Their chemistry is undeniable, but what I loved most was how healing their connection felt. The inclusion of therapy was so refreshing too. It’s not talked about enough in romance, and seeing healing portrayed realistically meant a lot.

“Healing isn’t linear.”

The suspense element had me hooked. Those letters? I was completely invested trying to figure out who was behind them. No spoilers, but wow… some people really have issues.

I devoured this in two days (and only slowed down because, unfortunately, I have to work and be an adult). The pacing is perfection, and once you start, you won’t want to stop.
I’m officially hooked on Nikki’s storytelling and will absolutely be going back and reading the entire Makeup and Mochas series like asap!

And Thunder Snow? I had never even heard of it before this book, and now I need to experience it. The title fits so perfectly.

“Sometimes the fiercest storms bring you back to where you belong.”

Sam and Elliot have both endured so much pain and trauma, so watching them finally get their chance had me kicking my feet.

Oh and by the time I reached the epilogue, I was already desperate to read Whispering Rain. This series is shaping up to be a favorite. Just be sure to check trigger warnings.....the emotions run deep and are way intense.

ARC Review for Nikki Grant and Naughty Nook PR

This is Nikki Grant's best book today. I truly enjoyed her last series and absolutely LOVE that Sam from The Man For You finally got his moment. He is one of my all-time favorites from the Makeup and Mocha Series.

Note: If you are sensitive about topics such as abuse and stalking, please get acquainted with the trigger warnings prior to diving in.

Not only is Sam one of the most likeable characters from the Makeup and Mocha series, he has since found his way into the world of kink and has become a pleasure Dom. He has struggled with connections since Ashley and still carries a deep level of pain from what happened to her.

Corinne is moving back home to escape from an absolutely toxic and abusive relationship. When her ex starts to retaliate, Sam steps in to help pick up the pieces. His pain recognizes her pain.

When Corinne decides to step out and find someone to help her find what she likes after being treated so poorly, she seeks out an anonymous kink site. Little does she know, she has been speaking to Sam for weeks. When she books her first encounter, they are both shocked that they have been communicating this whole time. I love the patience and care that Sam takes in helping Corinne come out of her shell after being horribly degraded.

There are a couple of areas that I wish were expanded a bit more. Without spoiling, there is a bit of confusion for me on what really happened to her stalker. What happens to her ex is so satisfying, but the stalker conclusion is a bit murky. I wish there was a bit more detail here.

With that being said, I do look forward to the next book in the series. The epilogue really hooked me.

BOOK REVIEW — Thunder Snow by Nikki Grant
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Second chances, unresolved feelings, and a love that never really went away. ❄️❤️

Five years ago, he walked away from the woman he loved rather than stay and watch her choose someone else. No explanations. No looking back. Just gone. Now he’s back home, and all the feelings he tried to bury come rushing right back.

This story really leans into that emotional tension of unfinished love. You can feel the history between them in almost every interaction. There’s regret, longing, and that constant question of what if things had gone differently?

I loved the way the past and present were woven together. It made the relationship feel deeper and showed how much these two characters had changed over the years.

The emotional push and pull between them kept me invested the whole time. You could tell both of them were still carrying pieces of their past, and watching them figure out whether love was worth the risk again made the story really engaging.

✨ What I loved
• strong second-chance romance vibes
• the emotional history between the characters
• tension that kept the story moving
• the small hometown feel
• the vulnerability from both characters

💭 Overall thoughts
This was an emotional, cozy second-chance romance about unfinished love and finding your way back to the person who always felt like home. Perfect if you like angst, longing, and couples with deep history. 📚❄️💕

4.5 STARS*

Thunder Snow by Nikki Grant completely pulled me in from the first page. This story is moody, emotional, and layered with the kind of second chance tension that keeps your heart in your throat.
Grant leans fully into longing, regret, and the ache of unfinished love. The history between the characters is not just backstory. It is a living, breathing force that shapes every interaction. You can feel the weight of what was lost and the fragile hope of what might still be possible.
The romantic suspense elements add a steady undercurrent of tension that balances beautifully with the emotional depth. I especially loved the he falls first dynamic and the intensity of the hero. There is strength there, but also vulnerability that makes every moment hit harder.
If you love angsty second chance romance with emotional depth, complicated history, and a touch of darkness, Thunder Snow is absolutely worth the read. I will definitely be continuing this series.
Thank you to the author for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

4.5 stars, rounded up.

If there's anything I can say about Nikki Grant (besides how awesome she is) it's that I don't even realize how far into her books I am and then suddenly it's the end and she has me begging for more. I love being a part of her ARC team and read this book in a day - and that's including having to work. I picked it up every spare second I could. I loved revisiting the town where all the drama seems to happen, having some peeks at the characters I grew to love in the Makeup and Mocha's series, and having a deeper dive into Sam's personality. This book was definitely on the darker side compared to the previous series and I was so hooked. The suspense built as the book went on and honestly I didn't know where it was going to lead. The prologue for the next book in the series already has me crying.

Thank you so much to Nikki Grant for the ARC. As always, all thoughts are my own.

Cozy up! This is a beautifully crafted second-chance romance that strikes a chord, lingering in the reader's mind long after the story concludes.

With its well-paced storyline, this tale masterfully weaves together mellow and chaotic tones, stirring sweet memories and the haunting "what if” vibes, deftly plucking the heartstrings.

As the past resurfaces, Corinne and Sam bring the heat, bringing with it some deep emotional elements, while adding some serious undercurrents, where chaos ensnares.
The Villain in this story, hits differently yet totally delivered. The twist, knocks it out of the park.

So if you find yourself drawn to the intricate dynamics of hometown reunions, unconditional love with a taste of upheaval , you will enjoy this deeply raw impactful read.

TW checks, for those sensitive in nature. Some topics may not suit all.

Awe sam! I am so happy he got his happily ever after, his ice out in Ashley’s book was my one dislike, I really loved Sam and didn’t like how he ended up in the end of that story. So glad he got his own redemption and relationship here. This is a hard fought for love story with twists and turns you don’t see coming. If you like suspense stories with romance plots of the side this is the book for you. These two are a fast connection but a slow burn in the sense that they take care of each other as much as they play. There is no lack of playtime between these two but it is safe and loving in the way it is performed. I received this book as an ARC through naughtynookpr and Nikki Grant.

Thunder Snow is just one of those books that ensnares you and keeps reeling you in. Sam is full of guilt, that comes with wondering what he could have done differently and now wanting to control and protect everyone around him.
Corrine is stuck in a wickedly abusive relationship. Finally doing the right thing, leaving and getting sanctuary at her parents. Shes learning to take life for herself and in turn meets Sam. She thinks everything is ok until her past comes back to haunt her and force her back into it.
This book is super heartbreaking but has that redemption you need in the end. Deeply emotional and read those TW 💕🖤

This book was such a wild ride, but I found myself wanting more! This could have been twice as long and I feel the impact, connection, suspense, could have been so much more in depth. The villain villains hard in this one, I did not see the twist coming at all! I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give anything away. Check your triggers, jump in and enjoy the ride.

Thank you, Nikki Grant and Naughty Nook PR for the advanced copy of this no eBook, I loved this book so much!

Cori is a character that clearly depicts how difficult it is to see the signs of abuse and how easily it is to fall into the pattern of escalation, fear, and honeymoon that comes with abuse. It takes such courage to change the course of her life and to see her and Sam navigate their own individual challenges with care and intention while leaning on the support of family was beautifully written. Healing is not linear and that was beautifully written in this book. And do not get me started on how awesome pleasure dom Sam is… hot!

Nikki Grant has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I devoured the Makeup & Mochas series. This new series is just as good, with some delicious, well written spice included. I love that we saw some of the characters from the other series.
The subject matter is hard in this one. But it needs to be written about and Nikki does a great job. Love this book and am already looking forward to the next book!
For disclosure, I received this as an ARC.

This book has so much beautiful poetry in it, it’s just such a shame it’s the bad guy who’s this good😂 If you like romantic suspense then you’ll really enjoy this but do check triggers as the fmc is in a dv situation and our mmc helps her out of that situation. It’s handed with grace, friendship first, a soft pleasure dom who helps her take back her power. There’s a stalker too, things get intense and it’s just a good story!

Heavy read with difficult topics...please check the trigger warnings before reading.
Sam and Corinne have amazing chemistry. There is history there/mutual friends but the biggest thing is Corinne has a stalker and Sam feels guilty about things he missed in a previous relationship. Lots of suspense and spicy scenes!

This book was a heavy hitter. A lot of trauma going on. A lot of frustration with decisions being made and annoyance on behalf of Corrine for how she was treated. I am happy with the character development that Sam goes through. His character as a whole is so sweet and caring, and I’m so happy with the ending for both of them.

This book packed it all between the pages. Trauma, dv, emotions, and so much more. Sam and Cori were so deep in this. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Just when I thought I know what was going to happen, nope, I was wrong. This was intense and suspenseful . And definitely had that sauce going on. I was invested in this one. Really liked it a lot.

Really liked the character inclusion from the previous series and how these two found each other. Trauma bonding is the only red flag I can see but if it works for them I'm not going to yuck it. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thunder Snow by Nikki Grant. This book definitely touches on some real world problems. The characters really go through some serious trauma and have to rebuild. However they come out so strong on the other side. They are able to find happiness even through all the pain and suffering and that’s all we could really root for. There is something spice but a whole lot of twist and turns. The emotional part of the story really pulls you in and keeps the pages turning. This is my first book by Nikki and I will definitely be seeking out more. If you love a good story with that overcoming triumph and the HEA this is the book for you.

I devoured Thunder Snow in one day and I’m still not over it.
Sam and Corinne’s story had me completely hooked. Their connection felt intense, emotional, and beautifully layered. I was fully invested in their journey from the start, and the way their relationship evolved, especially with the pleasure Dom dynamic woven in, that added depth and heat without taking away from the heart of the story.
The stalking plotline kept me on edge the entire time. And that reveal? I absolutely did not see it coming. I love when a suspense element genuinely surprises me, and this one delivered.
The domestic abuse storyline tore me up. It was emotional, painful, and handled in a way that made the healing and strength feel even more powerful. I felt everything right along with the characters.
This book truly has a touch of everything. Romance, suspense, spice, heartbreak, healing, and twists. It was gripping, emotional, and impossible to put down.
Highly recommend if you love romantic suspense with real depth and real heat.
