Love hits harder the second time around.

Audrey Davis never planned to come back home. After spending years across the country building her medical career from the ground up, she thought she’d finally buried all of her heartache somewhere it couldn’t touch her. But when her father’s health declines, her duty pulls her back to the city she left behind - and the boy she never truly let go of.

Max Guerra isn't the same hot-headed teenager she grew up with. Now an esteemed Mixed Martial Arts star, he’s hardened by loss, guilt, and the fight to survive both inside and outside the cage.

As old feelings resurface and words once left unspoken break free, Audrey and Max find themselves drawn back into each other’s lives. But as they navigate the weight of their past and the consequences of who they’ve become, they’ll have to decide if love is worth a second round.

From the first page this book had me hooked!!!! You can’t help but root for the two main characters to get back together they have so much history and love for eachother despite the grief and pain they’ve been through. Audrey and Max’s love was written in the stars.

We follow Audrey who is back in town and now a doctor working in the emergency room. She’s moved back to be closer to her family and is worried about her Dads health. She runs into her ex Max Guerra who now is a famous MMA fighter and he has made it known he wants her back and he doesn’t care that she is seeing someone. To him Audrey is the one that got away and the love of his life.

Rematch is a reminder as to why I love second chance romances! From the chemistry, banter and emotions! I ate it up. I love the authors writing and how everything just feels organic, I felt the characters grief, anger, sacredness and happy moments along with them. I also couldn’t help but giggle when a few familiar faces popped up. I love how Max has decided to get to know his brother and train him to be a MMA fighter despite his dad not wanting to claim him. Max is not just a MMA fighter, he runs fight rings and is part of the underground world. Audrey is honestly the sweetest most caring person and so strong. She deserves someone who will give her the world and Max is definitely the person to do that. My only critique is that I wish we got a chapter or two more for the ending but I was satisfied. Can’t wait to see what the author has in store.

Thank you so much to the author for the e-arc

From the very first chapter, Rematch had me hooked. I received this as an ARC, and I went in expecting a typical sports romance—but it surprised me with how layered and emotionally real it was. Asia Monét blends the heat of competition with the tenderness of second chances in a way that feels raw, heartfelt, and completely addictive.

The chemistry between the main characters practically jumps off the page. You can feel the tension—not just the romantic kind, but the emotional baggage they both carry. What really stood out to me was how the author captured the vulnerability that comes with ambition, pride, and love colliding. It’s not just about the rematch on the field; it’s about redemption, self-worth, and learning how to trust again.

The pacing was smooth, the dialogue felt authentic, and the writing style was crisp but full of feeling. I especially appreciated how the side characters added depth without stealing focus. You can tell Asia Monét knows how to build a story that feels cinematic—each scene has movement, emotion, and energy.

By the end, I was smiling through the ache in my chest. It’s the kind of story that makes you root for both love and personal growth equally.

⭐ Rating: 4.5/5

Sports romance (MMA). He;s a fighter and she’s a doctor. Second chance romance and first love rekindling. Audrey (FMC) and Max(MMC). He’s a Resident bad boy and Mafias boss son gets a second chance at trying to get his first love back but he is now part of his the dark side of his father’s lifestyle. Audrey came back to take care of her Dad who is going through cancer. Will rekindling that first love be worth it? I loved the MMA fighting theme and the scenes were detailed with a couple of the fights. The book did have its slow moment but did pick up around 46% of the book between Audrey/Max and the new guy Carter (loved him and possessiveness a bit). I would have loved to explore more into Max and Jayden (step brother) relationship and even an introduction to Audrey scene. Overall, a good book, minimal spice ( would have loved more). This is a cute hometown, first love and Max getting his woman back story. I honestly did want a heartbreaking ending though. Thanks for the early ARC via Asia Monet.

***ARC Review***
Max and Audrey's bond runs deep as best friends and lovers until life’s circumstances pull them apart. Now, Audrey’s back in her hometown, and Max finds himself unable to pull away from her orbit. YES!!! He wants that old thang back!!! Does he care that she's dating someone? Absolutely not! Does he go out of his way to sabotage that relationship? Most definitely.

Time has changed them, and Audrey quickly notices a shadow of darkness has crept into Max’s life. As old feelings resurface, both are navigating heavy burdens. Can time truly heal old wounds?

In one of the biggest matches of his life, Max fights to win Audrey back and protect his family. This passionate second-chance romance is a gripping tale of love, loyalty, and redemption that will keep you guessing until the final bell.

Oh, and if you've read the Cartel Elements series, one of our favorites makes an appearance.

Audrey and Max were childhood best friends turned lovers who let distance and grief pull them apart. Despite not seeing each other for years that pull and love they had for each other is still very much present and just as strong. Will Audrey fall back into Max or will she decide that too much time has passed and that certain things are better left in the past?

I loved this book for so many reasons but the main one was the relationships between characters. Audrey and her dads warmed my heart in every scene. You could feel how much she loved, adored, and appreciated them. I also enjoyed seeing Max and Jayden’s relationship develop into something so sweet. It was just what they both needed. One of my favorite things about Max and Audrey’s journey is how persistent he was without overstepping (too many) boundaries. He made it clear what he wanted but for the most part still allowed her space to make her own choices.

This story is everything I love in a second chance romance — emotional, mature, and deeply human.

Audrey Davis returns home after years of running from her past, only to find that some feelings never fade — especially when it comes to Max Guerra, the boy she left behind who’s now an MMA fighter hardened by life and loss. Their chemistry? Off the charts. But what really got me was the quiet vulnerability between them — the way they hurt, heal, and find their way back to each other.

Asia Monet’s writing is stunning. Every line feels intentional, every emotion earned. She captures grief, guilt, love, and forgiveness with so much depth. You don’t just read Audrey and Max’s story — you feel it.

Omggggg!!!!!

I loved this book soooo much! This is my second ARC and it had me hooked!!! Took me longer to complete due to school and life but it was so good.

Max, Max, Maxxx😩😩😩😩 the man that you are!
And Audrey my shayla🥲 I completely get it.

I’d love to see their life after the events of this book, it’s just so good.

I’d say 3/5🌶️ for my spice lovers.

My fav Max quotes (I loved Max more than Audrey but they’re both so well written and have a lot of depth):

“Really?” He asked. “When we hung out the other night, she said she was single.”

“Don’t worry about my girl,” I said, smiling around the blood dripping from my lip. Too wrapped up in the adrenaline, I didn’t even realize I was bleeding. “I’m gonna take good care of her.”

“You’ve kept this pussy away from me for long enough. I’m not stopping until I’ve gotten every single drop.”
😩😩😩😩😩😩

YALL BETTER GET THIS BOOK!!!!!

They were just ment to be…

Max caught one glance at Audrey from the octagon & it was all gas, no breaks. This man knew he couldn’t let her out of his grasp this time around. Max carries his guilt like a weighted armor but uses it as fuel to be better. A strained father-son relationship pushes Max into a new relationship that he feels can right his wrongs. & Max will do everything in his power to protect those he cares about.

Audrey keeps her head held high, despite the fear of losing the one that is closest to her. She returns home to help her family and along this journey she realizes true love never really dies. It digs deep roots until the one your heart is meant for causes it to bloom once more.

I enjoyed watching two hearts let love win again

I liked so much about this story! Jayden and Max's relationship. Audrey and her two dads. Tony and Max. Audrey and Gianna. Honestly so many great characters and relationships!

I know I don't love second chance, but I have a soft spot for childhood besties, since usually they just were young and dumb. Max and Audrey have such a cute vibe, but idk. There was something about once they became a couple again that I just wasn't sold on. I think Max said a lot of things, but didn't really face his hangups that allowed him to not reconcile with Audrey sooner. Luckily, Audrey can't help but love him and doesn't require much change from him.

That being said wouldn't mind more from this cast of fun characters!

Love it 😍

From the very first page, I immediately felt the yearning and passion between Max and Audrey. The author pulled me into the story, tugging at my heart with every page and leaving me wondering what would happen next. That’s one of the things I love about Asia’s writing she makes you feel like you’re part of the story through the way she describes the setting and the characters’ emotions in each moment.

This quote “I promise to fight long enough to see the next milestones of your life.” really got to me. It made me wish my dad were still here so I could share those milestones with him.

I had a good time reading Rematch and I hope you all will too.

ARC REVIEW

Wow, the author did her big one! Second chance romances can be hit or miss for me but this one hit the mark. From page 1, I was locked in. The dynamics between the characters pulled me in quickly. Through their journey, I felt all the feels. The banter was everything and I really was sad for it all to end. These two had been through a lot and their chemistry was undeniable. I knew from the moment Max stepped to A in the first chapter when she was with ole boy; he didn’t play about her.

I’ll be rereading this soon.

I really enjoyed this book. I haven't read many romances where the MMC is a MMA fighter so I was really intrigued to read it and it did not disappoint! I loved the dynamic between Max and Audrey and you could really feel the yearning between the two of them which just made the tension between them palpable.
I also read enjoyed Max getting to know and spend time with his little brother, it was very heartfelt.
Overall it was a very good read ❤️

I love Asia Monet's work. There is always humor, witty banter, found family, and strong FMCs and MMCs that support their loves in all ways. This is the first time I've had the pleasure to read a MMA genre, and was pleasantly surprised!!! Max and Audrey's second chance love story is well worth reading. Thank you for the ARC..

Great read!

This was a really good story, it was nice to see guest characters from previous books show up. My only critic is we didn’t get an epilogue and the story kind of abruptly ended.
