Though originally published in 1970, this book has a real vintage vibe to it. The author's illustrations are just simple pen and ink drawings with red highlights, but, oh, how cute they are!







Sadly, this seems to be out of print, though I'm sure there are plenty of used copies available. (I found mine at the local library.) This would make a perfect read for very young children on Christmas eve.

Cute, cute, cute! Vintage pastel crayon illustrations. And mice! I love a good mouse. :) This is a Troll Associates book, so I can imagine a young me coming across this at the school book fair. Those days were the best days.
