T. Damon has been imagining new tales and bringing them to life through her writing since she was a young girl growing up in Burlingame, California. Though oddly enough, most of her professional life has been in the zoological field, where she volunteered at the San Francisco Zoo and worked as a tour guide at Safari West in Santa Rosa for many years. T. Damon always assumed she would make her career in the animal field, as she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology, but her passion for writing was a fire within her heart that was not to be ignored.

Aside from writing, in her spare time she enjoys studying astrology, tarot, and anything magical or mystical. But since having any free moments with a toddler is rare, T. Damon mostly spends her days raising her young daughter, Lenore, and tending to her husband Mark and numerous pets at their home in Santa Rosa.

T. Damon also writes adult and YA contemporary fiction as K.L. Teal.

The Falling 1.25/5⭐️s
As an honest bookreviewer I have to write an honest bookreview. So here it is. Thank you to T. Damon for sending me her book in exchange of an honest review.
1. The beginning is really good. For some reason my mind won't stop playing everything I read into a movie-kind-of-thing and the nymphs of this book look like The Children of the Forest from Got😂
2. The chapters are really short so that's good, and the pace is fast too.
3. To be honest, something's wrong with the writing style. It feels stiff. I mean, we do get descriptions and stuff so it's not as if there's no scenery, but I don't know, something's just missing.
4. I have a question, are Nyxen and Narena the children of the king? I'm confused 'cause they keep calling him with his name so I don't know.
5. Wait, who the hell is Rowan? I'm lost.
6. And wait whaaaat? Now they are just in love? Nope, I refuse to accept this.
7. Wait, so apparently the king just calls Narena and Nyxen his children, but he just kind of adopted them? I think that this should have been explained earlier.
8. Please entity just kill Narena so we can be done already.
9. This book was just.... BAD.
10. I don't recommed this... AT ALL. I'm sorry but at around page 100 I wanted to DNF it. It was just soooo stiff, weird, I wanted to bang my head on the wall and throw the book across the room. It was soooo bad. I can not find the proper words to describe how bad this book was. I'm never picking up the sequel. Like, NEVER. For example, there's this scene where they find out that the king is evil and he's like "yeah but I still did a spell which saved you" and then the main characters are like "oh okay, we'll just go and rest because we're tired", like who even says that?
11. The writing style was soooo bad and boring. It was waaaaaaay to plain and simple. I just couldn't stand it. The dialogues the characters were having were just sooooo childish and annoying. Ugh. I can't. I even skipped some parts towards the ending.
12. Final Rating: 1.25/5⭐️s
13. P.S: Definitely the worst read of the year.
14. P.S.2: I love legends, myths/mythology, fantasy, etc. so I know what I'm doing. The book sounded so good and that's why I requested a review copy. I'm sorry to say that I regret doing that.

“The Falling” by T. Damon is an allegorical tale for our fantastical times. The story describes a vibrant hidden forest community, populated by nymphs, fairies, trolls and salamanders, in a fight to regain balance after one of its four Higher Spirits falls prey to dark influences. The individuals waging this battle, of disparate backgrounds and personalities, must band together if they are to overcome the fallen Spirit, named Labete. As the exciting story unravels these tiny beings, with the assistance of a beneficent witch, will rely on their set of wits, skills, spells, and lastly but most importantly love, in seeking to achieve their goal.

Much of the story follows the trail of the nymph Narena, a young female research scientist appointed by the king, as she raises a troupe to preserve the forest by taking on the Labete’s evil forces. In the process we are introduced to a colorful cast of multi-dimensional characters, each with their own particularities that they learn to embrace as they move closer to their goal. Along the way love blossoms. Narena is a sympathetic character. She is beset by difficult memories of childhood and pangs of self-doubt. Nonetheless, with the help of the regal warrior nymph Kellen, her long-term friend and admirer, she musters up the will to keep moving forward while inspiring others to do the same.

T. Damon is attuned to the spiritual aspect of nature and expresses it on a level that young readers will find relatable, such as by writing the dialog in the sometimes sassy argot of contemporary teenagers. Violence is only used when necessary to subdue evil and is not gory – those possessed by evil meet a fiery end, without much spilling of blood and guts (Readers seeking a Game of Thrones-like sexual blood and gore fantasy should look elsewhere. One disappointed reviewer below was apparently looking for such). In the spirit of martial arts, successful application self-defense by Kellen, often in the form of a well-placed bow, is a result of rigorous and dedicated training.

Labete’s motives in forswearing his role as protector of the forest are enigmatic -- it is a worthwhile reminder, that even for a Higher Spirit benevolence is not a default, all of us must try to overcome our selfish impulses and seek to foster goodness in others. As entertaining as it is, this story has much to teach young readers about the strength that can develop when we not only accept our differences but embrace unique contributions every individual has to offer toward solving a common problem. The tiny forest beings must deal with the loss of their protector and take the responsibility of protecting the forest upon themselves. Their tribulations offer a lesson to us all. As we enter our teenage years we must come to grips with the imminent loss of our own protectors and, if we are to mature and thrive, we must learn self-reliance, the capacity to form coalitions, and most of all an overriding faith in love.

Favorite Quote: "A Forest's life is beyond what the normal, everyday eye can see. In fact, the regular goings-on of a particularly enchanted Forest are completely lost on a typical humans perception. But the energies of these Forests can be felt by all who stumble into them, whether by mistake or for a purpose."

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was in no way influenced by this arrangement.

The Forest has a system. There are higher spirits and under spirits. The higher spirits bring love and peace to the forest whereas the under spirits bring destruction and loss. When a higher spirit falls from grace and becomes corrupted by an under spirit and the Yew, the highest spirit, is placed into a deep sleep, the corruption of the Forest begins. This change is sensed by all in the Forest, but King Alston, ruler of the Nymph Kingdom, refuses to take action. The future of the Forest Kingdoms falls to Narena, her younger brother Nyxen, their warrior friend Kellen, and a sage salamander named Hawthorne, all of whom must venture through the darkest part of the Forest to reach Lapris Mountain where the Yew sleeps. They must find a way to wake the Yew and defeat the corruption... Or die trying.

Ever since I was little I had read stories about fairies and enchanted Forests, but never about the nymphs. This story takes place from the perspective of nymphs and starts at the downfall of the Forest, which made this story very unique... And I loved every second of it. The corruption and destruction of the Forest has been occuring for years at the time the story begins and it's up to a special group of nymphs to restore balance to the Forest. And I'm not sure if the author intended it, but the book mentions how blind the nymphs were to the obvious downfall of the Forest because their ruler refused to acknowledge what the other kingdoms could see. I felt that this tidbit gave the book a dystopian vibe in a way, which I loved. I also loved the way the characters interacted with each other and how the story makes you think about the current state of our own forests because we are contributing to the forests destruction as much as the fallen higher spirit was.

The only (selfish) complaint I have about the book was that I felt the story was too short. I wanted more back story on all of the characters and the events that were going on and at times I wanted the story to slow down a bit so it could focus on the interaction between the characters and surroundings. I was sad to finish this short book (it's only 169 pages long). I feel the author could easily expand the story and I hope to read more about Narena, Nyxen, Kellen, and the others in the next book (please say there is another book coming out T. Damon?). This book was truly magical and I loved every second of it. Definitely one I will reread in the future.

The Falling was an interesting fantasy novel. Narena is a nymph from the Nymph Kingdom. She along with her brother, Nyxen and their friends; Kellan and Hawthrone must save their forest from falling. They embark on mission to awaken the Yew, the Highest Spirit and only Spirit powerful enough to destroy Labete who is trying to destroy their forest.

I liked the characters. There was some humor among them and they got a long great! Kellan and Narena were cute. Plus the addition of Sebillon was nice! The plot of the story was interesting and concept of nymphs, faeries and all the forest creatures getting together to destroy to protect their forest was also great!

Even though the story isn't vert long, I'm sure there is more to come in the next book!

The Falling is an exciting first book in a series. We are pulled into a fantastic realm that T. Damon has woven with witches, nymphs, faeries, and Salamanders. The harmony of the forest is thrown out of balance when one of the Higher Spirits succumbs to evil and tries to destroy the Forest. T. Damon's writing style reminds me of one of my favorite authors, Emily Rodda, so I would definitely recommend this to fans of her fantasy series. I've just started on The Haunting and I'm already hooked!

A fun story about Nymphs, faeries, witches, forest spirits, creatures and entities. Loved the whole go on a quest to save the forest thing and having it end with a cool little cliff hanger type bit left me wanting to hurry up and read the next book.

I have read my fair share of fantasy books but I have never read one like The Falling by T. Damon!

T. Damon takes us into a world where trolls, witches, nymphs, faerie, kalpies, ogres, entities, and ghosts are real! Damon has a way with words and really knows how to take her readers into another world!

Damon's forest is such a beautiful place but bad things start to happen once the spirits, who are in charge of watching over the forest, stop getting along. The yew, the highest spirit of them all, gets banished, and with that, the falling of the forest begins.

In The Falling we meet Narena, her brother Nyxen, and a few of their friends. The group discovers a great evil in their forest and are determined to figure out what this darkness is and why it is taking over their forest. Narena and her friends, with the help of the forest, a certain parent, and a few witches along the way, head out to save the forest. What would you do if your home was falling and turning to evil? would you be brave enough to save it? Narena and her friends take part in a difficult journey, one they might not be ready for. Will they make it? Will they figure out what is causing this great evil? The greatest question is.. once they find who is behind all this evil, will they be able to stop him or her? You guys will have to pick this book up to find out for yourselves! This is a story you guys do not want to miss out on!

T. Damon's writing style is perfect! I was hooked since the first page and never did I get bored or want to put this book down. It was definitely a short, awesome read and Damon did not dissapoint. It was as if she bought me my own personal airplane ticket to her forest, where I joined up with Narena and Nyxen to help them fight the evil. That is how realistic her writing is. There were times that I completely forgot that I was even reading a book!

I can not wait to read book 2! I need more of T. Damon's beautiful writing!

First of all thank so much to T. Damon for sending me a physical copy of her book.

The falling. Tells us the story of a group of humans called Nymph (They are not fairies, trolls, or gnomes. They are beings like the humans who care for the forest.) Which is ruled by a King and a series of Spirits. It all begins when Narena (One of the main characters) and his brother Nyxen are climbing a tree and they see something a bit stranger. Then they begin to inquire about what is happening. That's where the story begins to make sense, they have to keep the forest from being submerged in the dark. Because a spirit is making its own (Wickedness everywhere)

The writing style of T. Damon is great "I loved her prose", it´s not very "Rude" with the words (In a good sense, ´cause there are writers who use few common words and in many occasions they do that the reader does not can completely immerse himself in the story) "I couldn´t stop reading"

The world that T.Damon built is so "Amazing." I liked the way the author mixed something SIMPLE, UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL like a forest. I liked it very much as every fragment of the story made me feel as if I was at that forest came from mystery, fear, witches, kings, warriors and love.
With respect to the cover I found it super beautiful (LESS IS MORE)

I can not wait to read the second part. To see where they take us the adventure of the characters :D

Ps: I really recommend the book, the story is great, and the characters are well-built. Besides that the book is super short and you read it in one day. YOU MUST READ IT!
